Who doesn't enjoy reading a story that consists of a strong, independent, and confident heroine?
The children are so cute. I loved their relationship with the heroine. It's not a lengthy book and i was bever bored.
Both protagonists are remarkable. Even though this wasn't a lengthy book, the author was able to provide a phenomenal character growth of both protagonists. I also liked how the hero sacrifices towards the end to support the heroine. I never saw a book where the hero leaves everything and completely supports the heroine. Most of the time it's the other way around. Hats off to the author for writing such a unique and cute book.

KT Rivers is a marine engineer working on renovating a marina on Wildfire Lake in California with her two best friends. She reconnecting with Laiyla and Chloe while making sure their project is a success. She works in a male dominated field, and is a tomboy who is strong, confident, independent, and unapologetically herself. She doesn't do dating, relationships, or long term commitments. She prefers to keep things casual, and is brutally direct, and doesn't play games. She goes after what she wants, and that includes a hot ER Dr. she unexpectedly meets over stitches. He's not her usual type, but she finds him irresistible!

Ben Latham is a local doctor and single dad with a lot of responsibility. He's busy trying to keep things together, and lately has lost his sense of self. Then he crosses paths with a gorgeous, seductive woman that's thrilling and terrifying at the same time. She makes him feel impulsive, reckless, and a little crazy, but he really likes her. She's intoxicating, and he's never met a woman like her. He wants to get to know her better, but she makes it clear she doesn't do serious or permanent. Conflicted by her limitations he's in uncharted territory. She doesn't do romance, but he's traditional. They're in different places, and looking for different things, but he can't deny he wants her.

KT never needs anyone, especially a man, but she soon realizes this one is different. He's the first man to ever make her want more, and she doesn't know what to do with these new feelings. She feels blindsided by their intense connection, and he's breaking all her rules. She doesn't recognize herself anymore as she's no longer disconnected. She never does strings, and suddenly he's made his way to her heart. She's vulnerable and confused. Will she feel trapped and run, or will she embrace her feelings and try to figure out where she fits in?

Going Under (Wildfire Lake, #2) by Skye Jordan is an emotional, sexy, small town, single dad romance full of passion and amazing chemistry. I really enjoyed this story and love this series! I can't wait for Chloe's book up next!

I enjoyed this book. From the title and cover I expected a mostly sexy book without much depth but the characters really surprised me!

Well worth a read

A jack of all trades marine mechanic meets a doctor and widowed father of three girls. An instant attraction, that grows into true love, commitment, marriage and enduring happiness.

A sensual story of love, life and learning to care and to be cared for in this romantic story. With a happy ever after ending and a pregnancy to bless their union and family happiness.

Thank you NetGalley, Cygnet Books and Skye Jordan for gifting me an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!
This quick read is jammed packed with steamy chemistry and a whole lotta love. Skye Jordan somehow managed to fit a slow burn romance in a short book without their story feeling too rushed. I didn’t *love8 the decision that was made by one character. I think in the real world that situation wouldn’t make sense but in the book world it’s romantic and lovely.
This was the perfect palate cleanser after a heavier book and a great segue from a clean romance to a spicier one!

KT character is so outstanding with her outgoing personality and a heart full of gold when she meets Ben unexpectedly and their chemistry is off the hook. What happens next as they explore their attraction blossoms to so much more, but the past hunts them and plays a roll in their HEA. If you want to find out what happens than you need to one click this today and won’t be disappointed. Can’t wait for Chloe’s story.

KT and Dr.Ben have become my favourite couple. In spite of being such a tomboy and typically living ano strings attached, carefree life, KT has a maternal streak that's a mile wide. The physical chemistry between KT and Ben may be off the charts but their connection on an emotional level is wholly unfamiliar to her. At the same time its something that she is not afraid to explore. Ben on the other hand feels strongly about KT but is equally unsure about how they're supposed to be together when it seems that at any moment KT is going to take off on her next adventure.

Avid Reader – ☆☆☆☆
M/F Romance

This is the second book of the series and while you don't need to read book one to understand what happens in book two, I highly recommend reading them in order.

KT is a confident, strong, independent woman. She knows what she wants, how she wants it, and isn't afraid to go after it. When she sees an attractive new guy in the ER, and he turns out to be her doctor, she doesn't let a little thing like ethics get in her way. She lets him know that she's willing to hook up with him if he wants. KT knows that her relationship with her girlfriends is solid and she also sees what she could have, might want, and is a little too scared to reach for.

Ben, Violet, Poppy, and Jazz are all adjusting to a new normal. While Ben knows that working allows him the ability to provide for his daughters, he also knows that he can't give them all they might need. With the death of his wife, Ben is now the sole provider and when he is home, he wants to wear only his dad hat. But when he meets KT for the first time, the attraction is unmistakable. However, he has never been a one-night stand or hookup guy. He has always had a steady relationship. But when KT and him continue to meet and he sees how amazing KT is with his daughter, Violet, Ben can't help but start to make plans.

These two have explosive chemistry that jumps off the page. I loved how their relationship developed and even though they both brought baggage with them, unpacking it together is what made them so strong. I am really enjoying this series and can't wait for Chloe's story.

This is book 2 in the Wildfire Lake series and I would definitely read the first book before you read this one as those events lead into this one. I'm sure you could read this one and still understand everything without reading book 1, but I think it would be much more complete reading that book before this one. In this one we get KT and Ben's story. KT is a marine mechanic who has no use for relationships beyond a quick hook up to handle her needs. She lives her life her own way and makes no apologies for it. Ben is the single father of 3 who is trying to juggle his girls and his job as an ER Dr. He puts his kids first in all things and tends to ignore his own needs. Until he meets KT and can't resist her. And now they both have to figure out a way forward that meets the things they feel they need in life while still hopefully having time for each other.

Ok on a whole, I really loved this story. I loved everything about KT and her relationship not only with Ben but with his girls. She wasn't just being nice to have an "in" with him, she truly cares about them and wasn't afraid to show it. I loved the way Ben and KT worked together and the chemistry they had. My issue was when she couldn't understand his point of view when they are talking about her sailing. I completely understand being leery about relationships but if you are going to try with someone, and truly try, there has to be some sort of understanding there and a commitment that I just didn't feel with her. Until he uprooted everything for her. Did I like the ending? I think in the end, it did work for them and gave them both the things they needed. Do I wish it had ended differently? I think so. I don't want to say too much more because I feel like it would be a spoiler. On a whole, I did like most of it. Just little things that I think were peeves for me than anything. Honestly, I would still reread it and it did leave me wanting to read the next in the series. And I kinda want a story for Ben's girls, especially the oldest!!

The second book in this series about 3 women who become life long friends after surviving a typhoon together, this book centers on KT, a mechanical engineer who grew up sailing with her father. After the three friends go into buying a marina, Kt works on all the houseboats, getting them ready to rent. She is a loner, who has never had a real relationship until she meets Dr Ben, a widower with 3 girls. They meet on Christmas Eve when KT has to go to the ER for stitches. The chemistry between them if off the charts, but KT just wants a hookup. However, she meets his 3 daughters and really falls for them. Ben and KT have lots of struggles but the storyline kept my interest. It was an easy, comfortable read and i am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Free-spirited & independent KT is on Wildfire Lake temporarily with her two best friends. Besides traveling around the world, troubleshooting problems with boat engines and other mechanical things is what she does best. A chance encounter with a hot, single father doc has her doubting what she truly wants in life. She’s never been one to settle down, but she’s slowly becoming attached to Ben and his girls. Will she be able to say goodbye when she’s ready to leave for good?

Another fabulous continuation of this series! KT and Ben’s story is uplifting and emotional. Two complete opposites who manage to be what the other needs. Ben has a stable life for his girls and is doing the best he can as a single father, and KT has no commitments holding her back to sail around the world. Ben can’t ask her to stay and KT doesn’t want to give up her passion. Will KT be willing to sail off into the sunset, leaving her heart behind? This is the second book I’ve read from this author, and I will definitely be reading more. I love the flow of this story and the bonds of loyalty and friendship between the girls. Ben’s daughters are adorable and manages to hold KT captive with their innocence and unconditional love. Loved reading more of Laiyla and Levi. Anxiously waiting for Chloe’s story!

KT and her friends are starting a business together and she oversees fixing the boats. She is not into relationships but when she meets Dr. Ben sparks fly. With their lives taking different paths, will they find a way to make a relationship between them work? Fast-paced read with lots of drama and emotion. I liked it.

Going Under is the second in the Wildfire Lake Series of three women who became lifelong friends after surviving a major life threatening event together. Skye Jordan has outdone herself this time. Going under is an all-around feel good story with plenty of sizzle along with some drama.

The combination of a free spirit with a gypsy soul and a doctor with strong home ties seem like a disaster in the making. Dr. Ben Latham is a widower with three daughters eleven to five. While KT Rivers has a time limit in which she expects to finish at Wildfire Lake, planning then to continue her sailing journeys. Yet these two have the hottest chemistry that should burn itself out but doesn’t. With three adorable girls who are so much a part of this story, Ben and KT navigate the deep waters of emotional intimacy and commitment. While the ending may have seemed a bit fantastical I loved the idea of it happening.

Be prepared for open bedroom doors when the children aren’t around along some bad language. I blushed at some of the scenes and skipped the language. Still Going Under had me from the moment I began to read. Now I cannot wait for Chloe’s story, the third of the three friends. I would also love for the girls to grow up, receiving their own stories.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’m really enjoying this series so far. This time, we see what makes KT tick. But don’t worry, you could get away with reading this book as a stand-alone. KT lives her life in what appears to be a fun loving, commitment-free lifestyle, but she’s had to work hard to get where she is today. The only constant in her life has been her devotion to and from her two best friends, so when she meets Ben, she’s left feeling adrift and confused from jump.

Ben has been busy trying to keep his life together, so he’s not sure that he’s willing to take the risk necessary to keep KT in his life, but his kids adore her. So they begin trying to make it work, only to have someone’s fears ruin it all. Getting over those fears takes a lot of self-examination, some hard talk from young wisdom, and the willingness to take the chance on love. If KT and Ben can figure all of that out, they’ll have smooth seas ahead and the adventure of a lifetime for everyone involved.

This is the second book in the series, but I read it as a standalone which is totally fine.
The book revolves around KT and Ben who meet at the hospital where Ben is a doctor. There is immediate chemistry between the two of them.

KT is looking for nothing more than a hookup and Ben being a single dad to three kids is reluctant at first, but he is not able to deny the feelings that are brewing within him...
KT being a free soul, can't be tied down to a place and she loves sailing and being in the sea.

In the end, the love for each other triumphs.

It was such a good and refreshing read. I was able to finish the book in one sitting, which I loved...The plot of the story was good. I liked KT's relationship with her friends...
I loved the characters and the sacrifices they make for love and happiness, Ben's love for his daughters and I enjoyed the chemistry between them...

Going Under is a steamy, sweet, charming, and slightly angsty small-town contemporary romance that brilliantly flips the traditional character traits/roles of the heroine and hero while exploring what can happen when we meet that someone with whom we connect with so intensely that he or she throws our whole world into a tailspin. The second book in Skye Jordan’s “Wildfire Lake” series explores KT’s first foray into love after years of fun, casual, commitment-free sex.

A free-spirit, tomboy, mechanic who has sailed the world working on cruise ships, KT is used to making her own rules and having her pick of attractive men to get her fill of hot sex. But since she has been in Wildfire Lake with her best friends building their new business, it hasn’t been as easy for her. Her choices are limited, and she has a reputation to consider/protect. At least until business is stable enough for her to invest in a sailboat and get back out on the seas to her first, and only, love—sailing. Ben, a doctor, and father of three daughters, moved to town to be closer to his family and provide more support for his daughters and himself. Raising three daughters—two small girls and a pre-teen, who is going through rough patch—and working a full-time job to provide for them isn’t easy. He loves his job, but nothing in the world as much as he loves his girls for whom he’d sacrifice anything.

For KT it’s lust at first sight when she sees Ben at the ER, so she pursues him even though he’s not her type. Ben, in desperate need of help with his daughter’s bunk bed can’t turn down her offer to help put it together. It takes him a little longer to take her up on her other offer because while she is irresistible, he’s not sure casual sex with her would be enough. While Ben and KT have legitimate conflicts in lifestyles, responsibilities, and dreams, the instant chemistry and connection between them is genuine and powerful—with the unexpected potential for love, something for which neither is prepared.

Skye’s description is vivid and character development is wonderful. Even the love scenes, which are sexy and emotional, contribute to the development of KT and Ben and their relationship. The relationship between KT and Ben’s daughters, especially Violet, who reminds KT of herself, is sweet and just as important to the story and the growth of the character’s as the romance. It softens KT, revealing other sides to her that maybe she is even unaware of herself. But they also awaken parts of Ben and needs that he has been allowing to go unattended while ensuring that all his daughters needs are met. The roles are also reversed somewhat as KT is the independent, more experienced, carefree character who is not looking to be tied down, while Ben is the more emotional one with responsibilities, people who depend on him, insecure about his place in KT’s life.

Going Under allows the hero and heroine to be human but approach a relationship like grown-ups by finding balance. Neither is treated like the bad guy or victim for their choices and each takes responsibility for their own choices and mistakes and that’s refreshing.

The second book in the Wildfire Lake series , but can be read as a stand-alone, you don’t really need to have read the first book to enjoy this one. I loved this so much because I loved KT and Ben , I loved how independent KT is and how he adapted to her and also changed his and his girls world, adapted and changed his preconceptions. I just didn’t think Bens reactions as a single dad were realistic at one point, but that’s my only criticism generally. An enjoyable read and lovely change to a typical romance set up

Going Under by Skye Jordan
Wildfire Like #2

Perfect story for me today. Ticked all the boxes by being a feel-good story that put a smile on my face while also steaming up my glasses. Really enjoyed this book!

What I liked:
* KT ”Kat” Rivers: a marine engineer able to fix just about anything. She has a dream to sail the world and a plan to do so soon.
* Dr. Ben Lathan: ER physician, single parent to three young daughters. His focus is on being a good father.
* The way KT and Ben meet and the chemistry between them.
* Ben’s daughters: Violet, Poppy, and Jazz
* Chloe: one of KT’s best friends – seems wise and definitely worthy of having her own HEA story written
* Laiyla and Leo: didn’t hear much about them but as friends of KT’s am sure their story in book one of the series was good, too.
* Jaime: a character that caused a bit of trouble but definitely a good friend to KT
* The relationship between KT and the girls
* All of it really

What I didn’t like:
* Can’t say there was anything that I disliked…it was a great story.

Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Definitely

ARC received for honest review

This is the second book for the series Wildfire Lake by Skye Jordan, and you can be read this book as a standalone. This was a nice quick read for me and a love everything about the story.

This book is about a girl, KT, who was raise by her father and she the love of boats as he did. When trying to save money to get her dream boat, she meet the handsome doctor Ben. She started to questioning herself about what she really needed in life and how she felt him and their future.

I enjoy this book so much because it has a enticing story. I love how the author decided to incorporate the marina/ boat theme to this book. I spend a few times looking for the places, and boats mentioned in the book. I love when books make me want to search for new information and it take me deep into the story. About the story line, I really like the way it was developed and how background of the characters were able to connect really nicely with their feelings.

I do recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a quick, interesting, and lovely story.

I review on GoodReads on 9/11/2020 and I will be reviewing on amazon.com on 9/14/2020.

4 1/2 Stars for this sweet quick read!

This book is a breath of fresh air ... as the female lead is the one with all the one-night stands while the guy is the steady and stable one. I love KT and her no nonsense attitude ... just get it done. She didn't apologize for her lifestyle and didn't want what most women want. And Ben ... a hot wealthy doctor - what's not to love? And then you add in that he has 3 daughters that he's raising on his own ... my heart just melted! Even though this book was emotional, it made me laugh and swoon ... boy did I swoon. Those steamy scenes were very HOT!

KT doesn't do commitments. All she wants is a hot body for one night. Six months from now, she'll have her money from the sale of her investment and she'll be sailing the seas. She'll be her own boss and sail wherever she wants. Ben is tired of raising his three daughters by himself after the death of his wife. So he moves to be closer to family so they can help out and his daughters can have female influence. He just never expected to meet KT and have those feelings all over again. But he knows that she can never be tied down, so he tries to ignore the heat between them. All KT knows is that she needs to get Ben between the sheets so that she can get him out of her system because he making her engine go haywire.

This is a great addition to the series and I can't wait for Chloe's story.
