I truly enjoyed the beginning of this book, it wasn’t the most fun reading for me but it does make me think, without doubt there’s also no faith, god is healing

This book was received as an ARC from Harvest House Publishers in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

I needed this book so bad in understanding the miracles and gifts God has performed and given in many ways than one. Especially during this time where uncertainty is becoming a commonality, we need to be reminded more than ever to trust the process and trust in Him. I also loved each of the quotes in the devotional part of the book. It's like getting into a soothing bath or drinking a soothing cup of tea because once you read them, you will automatically become calm and rested like floating on a cloud. Many of our community will be in demand for this book and we can't wait to share it with them.

We will consider adding this title to our B Non-Fiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

You believe in a supernatural God who does miracles as He did in the Bible because you have gone through a spiritual rebirth that can only be described as supernatural. But for most of your life you have not felt the supernatural power at work in your life, which manifests in miracles and healings. If you are in this situation, you are not alone. In fact you are in good company as many have yearned for the miraculous to happen but it appears to have eluded them. Even the author of this book.

In "The Healing Power of God", Stan Jantz wants readers to join him in a journey of discovery of the supernatural life that God wants His people to live by attempting to answer big questions like “Do you believe in miracles?”, “Does God still act supernaturally today as He once did in Biblical times?”, “Why don’t we take miracles and healing seriously?” and “Why doesn't God always heal?” He draws on wisdom from the Word of God and with insights from his own spiritual journey.

Jantz’s admission that “I have never personally experienced a miracle, and I have never seen a healing” would almost certainly make him vulnerable to the charge of being hardly qualified to write a book on healing, or miracles for that. But I applaud his complete honesty because by saying so he is speaking on behalf of many who silently bear the reproach of others who might claim to have.

This lack has come about through the pain of losing his dad through illness when he was only two. He didn’t know then that his dad had fervently believed that God would heal him after having been prayed for by the late A. W. Tozer. But he didn’t get healed and this had upset his mom and caused her to doubt God’s willingness to heal. So throughout his growing-up years he heard almost nothing about a supernatural God who could intervene in people’s lives to deliver miracles.

Jantz identifies some of the reasons that prevented him from really experiencing the supernatural and miraculous. These could well explain why many people are not experiencing that.

Becoming aware of this bias against the supernatural is the first step to the process of allowing the reality of the healing power of God to permeate our lives, says the author. He then takes us on a journey to discover why God heals, and these reasons are reassuring. The role of faith in healing is also explained in great detail with lessons from Jesus’ own healing ministry.

Assuming that we do believe that God still heals people today, experience has shown that God doesn’t always heal. Why is that? Jantz deals with this question squarely in one chapter that addresses hindrance to healing. He then shares three stories to demonstrate that there are different kinds of healing.

This book also shatters those limited expectations of our supernatural God that we often have. If we want to feel the healing touch of God we can’t have preconceived notions of how God should act but need to be open to God’s unconventional ways. We cannot reduce God to formulas and conventions. As if to reinforce this point, Jantz’s final chapter “How to Experience the Healing Power of God” is not what you might expect. His take on this question will surprise you, as did me.

As a bonus, to help us embrace the supernatural life, the book ends with a 30-day devotional guide, which draws on the miracles told in the Old and New Testaments. It’s meant to help us reflect on what these miracles means to us personally and practically.

This book certainly ticks the right boxes: cogent non-theological treatment of a subject that is always relevant to many believers, pastoral approach to debunking some of the objections and hindrances to healing,a heartfelt plea to embrace the supernatural, a pleasant easy-to-read writing prose, and much more. It will be a boon to those seeking honest answers on miracles and healing.

I received an advance review copy for free from the publisher and NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is a beautiful book on learning to recognize God’s hand in our lives and looking for and recognizing miracles. This book gave me a lot to think and ponder about.

This was a very interesting book which let me look at miracles in a totally different way. I have always prayed for the easy option, this book has encouraged me to pray in a different way. I really enjoyed all the bible passages. They really helped my rethinking on miracles. Very well considered book, with biblical back up.
