An easy summer read that should be read with ice cream in hand. As others have noted though, the constant pop culture references were fun at first, but perhaps a little heavy-handed.

I have to say, for a debut novel it isn't bad, but this one felt a bit like an episode of Sex and the City. It follows three friends and their differing priorities, with more pop culture references than you can shake a stick at. I think the biggest complaint I have is that much like the aforementioned show, this one is going to feel dated quickly. It's a good quick beach read but nothing I would pick up again.

Pretty good book. This one really counts as a weekend read to me. You don’t have to keep a chart of who’s who because the story is easy to follow.

Big nope for me. I was bored, there was really no plot there... it just went on and on. Plus Lauren didn`t get much time, i would like if they got equeally time in the book. I found Briony to be boring and Natalie`s acting that she was the victim when she cheated ugh.

Two Scoops, Not Three follows three best friends named Briony, Lauren and Natalie in their early thirties as they experience their different issues. Natalie is dealing with the consequences of her torrid affair, Briony has the eyes for her boss' son, and Lauren seems to be developing feelings for her best friend Briony.

The premise of the story promises drama and conflict, and the availability of a LGBTQIA+ representation in this novel is something that immediately drew me to it. Lauren was an interesting character and I would have loved a greater level of interaction with her character and her experience throughout the novel because she seemed to be the more interesting of the three women!

Additionally, the representation of women as the unfaithful lover was a breath of fresh air written by Boas! Natalie is certainly an unreliable narrator in her own experience, and her experience with the affair definitely takes a very 'woe is me' standpoint. I would have loved to see some more moral quandry here - is Natalie really feeling guilty about her affair? Or is it just expected of her? Her guilt and thought for her family seem very surface level, and whilst I appreciated the fast-paced process to the novel, this was something that absolutely could have been explored in more detail to help a reader better understand Natalie's characterisation. She seemed a bit wish-washy to me, and she was portrayed as a victim as opposed to a cheating partner. In the context of sex, I imagine if it were the husband who had cheated, this would not be the case!

This book had an incredibly promising start - I love the prospect of intertwining storylines and the immediacy of introducing us to these twisting lives of these three women. Alas, the story of their friendship and the expected 'girl power' themes really were lost in this novel, which is so unfortunate as it had so much potential.

An enjoyable enough read, however I would say the main focus throughout this book is friendship rather than romance.
I enjoyed the characters interactions and relationship with one another.

I enjoyed this easy to read story which follows three best friends In very different journeys in love. There were elements I’d like to have seen expanded on but I did enjoy the link to real life events!

I really wanted to like this book, but tragically it fell flat for me. I'm super sad about it and that sucks. But I thank you, Netgally, for being so wonderful and precious to me. YOU da real MVP.

Two Scoops, not Three by Terri Boas

This book follows the lives of three school friends though they couldn’t be more different. When suddenly life throws a spanner in the works for one because of a rash moment none of their lives may be the same.

Though a quick easy read and reasonably good as a debut novel there were a few loose ends left and movie/soaps quote got a bit much - remember less is more.

3.5/5

This is a book that reminds you of your friends and things you got upto. The laughs, the falling out and the drunken nights, except I can't sing!
A page turner definitely with a few twists
Easy read, easy to follow but that does not mean it's not a great book. It means I kept wanting to know what's was going to happen next

Two Scoops, Not Three follows three best friends, Briony, Lauren, and Natalie. They are in their early 30s and each one of them has their own issues.
Briony is the hardworking one, working at an accounting firm and trying to find Mr. Right. Lauren is a cruise singer and goes away for days on end on ships. She is gay and is looking for Ms. Right. Natalie is happily married to her childhood sweetheart and has two lovely children. However, she is not as happy as she appears to her friends.

Things come to a head when Natalie, sex-starved and feeling neglected, starts a torrid affair with her physical trainer. She swallows her conscience and tries to balance her family and affair. But she gets pregnant. And that's where her problems start.

Briony seems to have found her Mr. Perfect in her boss's son. But is he what he seems?

Lauren, to her dismay, starts feeling something like love towards Briony. Is it love or just protectiveness?

The premise is really good and the story is quick paced.

There were a few issues I had. Natalie has an affair. However, the story goes as if the reader should sympathize with her. The husband, in fact,is shown to be contrite for working too hard and not giving his wife enough time. Do we need to support cheating now?
Overall, I didn't like Natalie as a character. She is too selfish for her own good. Even her guilty phases last for frustratingly little periods. She doesn't even think about her children during adultery given that they are her "center of the universe".

Briony's character development is good up to a point then stops. After that, she seems boring as well.

Ironically, I loved Lauren's character best. But she seemed just like a side character than a main one. I hope there is a sequel that follows Lauren more.

For a debut, though, this is a great attempt. I will definitely look forward to reading more from Terri Boas.

Thanks to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for giving me this ARC.

This was a great summer read. It follows Bri, Natalie and Lauren as they live their lives. It was interesting to read their interactions with each other. Through marital and boyfriend issues. However if you are looking for romance, this may not be quite the book for you. Definitely a good story line of friendship.

Two Scoops, not Three follows a group of friends as they are navigating life. Briony, Natalie and Lauren are the friends. Where Briony thinks she is unlucky with men, Natalie is cheating on her husband after feeling neglected by him and Lauren thinks she has feelings for her best friend. This story is about friendship and discovery of their own lives. This isn't romance story as it suggests. The dynamic was strong and great and felt like real life between the friends.

A women's fiction about two friends on the outs after one makes a very big mistake. I can honestly say this one wasn't for me. But fans of women's fiction and the author may love this one.

Two Scoops, not Three follows a group of friends as they are navigating life. It follows Briony, who feels like she has the worst luck with guys. Then she meets the charming and polite American son of her boss. Natalie, the married mother of two, has felt like she has been neglected by her husband, so she starts s tryst with her sexy, personal trainer. Lastly, Lauren, who returns home from her job on a cruise ship, to find that she may have feelings for her best friend.

I thought this story was really cute. It says it is a romance, but I would definitely say it leans more towards Womens Fiction, or Chick Lit, as it is more about their friendship and each one trying to figure out their lives and the turns they have taken. I really loved the friendship between the girls. I felt like the dynamic was real. They didn't sugar coat things for one another, and I appreciated that. There were times where I felt like Bri, and times that I wanted to knock some sense into Natalie. One negative thing for me was, I wish we could have seen more of Lauren's point of view. The story focused mostly on Bri and Natalie that Lauren's thoughts felt like they were merely passing glimpses of her.

All in all, i thought this was a really cute story of friendship. As a debut, the author did a wonderful job. I would definitely be willing to read other books from her, especially if it is a continuation of Bri's, Lauren's and Natalie's story.

‘Two Scoops, Not Three’ is about three best friends Briony, who is unlucky when it comes to finding a man, Natalie, a housewife with two children who is cheating on her husband, and Lauren, a cruise entertainer.

I honestly don’t know how I feel about this book. I was so bored throughout most of it as there was no real plot. I wanted this book to be about the friendship between Briony, Natalie and Lauren but throughout almost 90% of the book the three characters did not interact with each other. The main focus of this book is on Briony and Natalie, as Briony is trying to find herself a boyfriend, whereas Natalie is trying to deal with the consequences of her affair. I would have probably liked this book a lot more if it had included more of Lauren as she seemed like the most interesting character of the three and yet she was barely in the book and felt more like a side character than one of the main characters.

Natalie was the worst character I have probably ever read in a book. She was unbelievably selfish and treated her husband awfully by cheating on him and acting like it was his fault that she cheated because he was at work most of the time. It felt like she did not care about anyone but herself and she was written as if the author wanted the reader to feel sorry for Natalie when Natalie was actually just a terrible human for cheating on her husband and not caring about his feelings until she got caught.

One of the main reasons I disliked this book was because of the inclusion of the Manchester bombing in the book. Including this event in the book had no relevance at all to the story beforehand and then it was used as a plot point to drive Natalie to breaking up with the man she was having an affair with. As someone who was there at the Manchester bombing and was affected by those events, I thought that this was insensitive and triggering.

Overall, this book was just bad. I very rarely rate books one or two stars as I always find something I liked within it, but this one just annoyed me. The cover is really cute though and was the main reason why I wanted to pick this book up.

I genuinely think there’s a little bit of most women in this book. Totally relatable and a brilliant read. Adored it!
