This book was 423 pages long; a bit too long. I only gave it 3 stars because I had a hard time understanding the Liverpool British/English vs. the "normal" or "posh" British/English that the author wrote in. (If you can understand that)

When Chloe gets out of the shower she expects to see her boyfriend, Jack, home from work. Instead it's his father, John; but he had no idea that his son was dating anyone, or that she moved in. John came to Jack's apartment to find his cellphone because he was hit by a car and killed that morning. Chloe goes into complete shock and walks out of the apartment crying. She ends up at her best friend's, place. But she can't bring herself to tell her what happened.

Chloe was so sure that Jack was "the one." They have been dating for the past 5 months, spent 2 weeks in Bangkok together, and have been living together ever since they returned. She thinks if she finishes everything that they have planned on her refrigerator, she'll feel better. So she tries.

This is such a heartbreaking read that definitely brought tears to my eyes. The story of grief and self-realization made me think about things. Definitely more of an ugly cry book than romance.

You can’t help but love the main character, Chloe. She just can’t seem to catch a break.

I lovely story of a girl from Liverpool trying to find answers and happiness.

I had put off reading this book for quite awhile, as the topic was quite heavy, but i finally got around to it and i’m so glad i did. Chloe and Jack’s story manages to break your heart, while also being inspiring. It does a wonderful job of depicting the reality of losing someone who didn’t know all that long, but thought you might have forever — the grief you feel following the loss of a future you had all planned out. Seeing how Chloe worked through her grief and moved forward following a loss that her family and friends didn’t truly understand was inspiring.

Fantastic book that I found I found sad, inspiring, and also made me laugh out loud on occasions too!
Follows the story of Chloe after the death of her boyfriend of 5 months.
She starts to question their relationship, and goes on a journey of self discovery to find out what was real in their relationship and to also find herself again, as she battles grief.
Quite an emotional read at times, but ultimately a feel good book.

I tried multiple time to read this story but with where I am in my life it was to depressing. I ended up DNFing. It breaks my heart because I really wanted to love it. I may try again when I am in a better place.

Chloe had only been with Jack for 5 months so her friends and family don’t understand why she feels like she does which is a bit heartless. The trouble is not only did I not like these people but neither did I like Chloe and it was hard to summon up even the slightest bit of empathy with her. Plus the constant Liverpool stuff/vernacular got irritating very quickly! Wish I could say that I liked the book despite all this but I didn’t. Chloe’s jokiness when she found out what had happened was off putting and so was her friend’s “babes” constantly. Other people will love this story so I’ll be in the minority. Definitely put this book in the chic-lit category!

You know what? Sometimes a book just isn't for you. And that was, unfortunately, the case with this. From te beginning, I found myself having a hard time actually getting into the story, and it just sort of went down hill from there. I'm sure many people would thoroughly enjoy this story, but the tone just created too much distance for me to really ever enjoy the reading experience.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the characters, however, the story touched me. It was heartbreaking and putting myself in our MCs shoes made me feel like the characters were a little more real and a little less unlikable. Not exactly something I would recommend but not a horrible read.

This is such a heartbreaking yet beautiful novel! If you enjoy stories about finding love after loss, then this is the book for you (particularly if you enjoyed The Two Lives of Lydia Bird). An emotional and heartfelt novel from Doyle!

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this book. I have decided to DNF this one as unfortunately I could not get into the book at all. Really sorry & I do not want to give any negative criticism as it would be unfair. I'm sure there are plenty of people who loved this, it just didn't gel for me.

I fell in love with the writing style from page one - so engaging and descriptive. The narrative flowed effortlessly and I was captivated throughout. Really acute descriptions help to engross you further into the story and it was a lovely story of love and loss I will definitely be buying Hayley's next release.

This was an unexpected kind of love story in a beautiful way. Watching Chloe's journey after loss was heartbreaking but also made me think quite a lot about mortality and my own relationships. This was my first read from this author but certainly not my last. The story flowed beautifully and I'm very happy that I read it.

Received a copy of this book for review. Overall it is a good read for me. Love the chemistry between the main characters. Love all the characters. What I love is that each of them does make a difference to the story as it developed. Like to read how the characters In the story are interrelated to each other. It make the story more exciting to read. The setting of the story is nice and is fit nicely to the story.Story plot are well penned out, with a slight twist to it in the end
