Twists and turns abound!

I was shocked by this book because it is normally something I would never pick up but the reviews were flawless. I finished it in one night and I couldn’t get enough

A good mystery with a bit of romance involved. Lots of twists and turns. Good plot and characters. Lots of family secrets and lies etc.... The story had me asking lots of questions.

I loved “Blood Sisters” by Jim O’Shea. I really thought I knew how it was going to end. I had a couple of scenarios in mind, but this book totally blew me away and didn’t turn out how I thought it would. I love those kind of books that have a major twist in them.

This book follows Libby Meeker. Libby is an architect who is experiencing visions of seeing her dead sister. At the same time, there is a serial killer in the area. Libby, along with the detective assigned to the case are trying to solve the murder.

This was the first time I’ve read a book by Jim O’Shea, but it definitely won’t be my last! I definitely recommend this book if you enjoy a good thriller!

I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

BLOOD SISTERS by JIM O'SHEA is a psychological thriller with a really good plot which will keep you guessing right to the end. In it the author looks at such things as the existence of ghosts, bipolar tendencies, satanic influences, and human wickedness in using the Word of God out of context and in order to destroy.
Libby Meeker is nearly destroyed by seeing her dead sister, Melissa, and by the strange things that happen to her and the strange things she comes across in her home and even in her office. Her psychiatrist sees her as having the same bipolar problem as her mother. Her friend, Aisha, wants her to look into her her grandmother's Choctaw heritage. Detective Troy Hudson is desperate to keep Libby safe as more and more gruesome murders are taking place, and moving closer to where she lives.
Libby's father was a pastor but Libby has not been to church or read a Bible for a long time, Although there isn't an outright Christian message in the book, from what the author says at the end about her beliefs, I see a glimpse of hope in the end.
It is a really good read and I recommend Blood Sisters to anyone who enjoys this genre.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from the Pelican Book Group. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

Wow - what a wild ride! Jim O'Shea is a new-to-me author, but his name is one I will continue to seek out. This is one I would classify as a psychological thriller (it's 2 am as I write this review - because I couldn't go to bed until I got closure). It grabbed a hold of me from the get-go and didn't let go until the very end. This book follows Libby, whose twin sister died in an explosion on a naval ship not quite a year earlier. She and her dad are coping the best they can with the loss, but her mother's mental health issues only make things more difficult. When more bad things happen and there's someone out there killing people who look like Libby, she begins to question her own sanity. There were a few twists and turns that I didn't see coming, which is a fantastic element to any thriller!

As for the other elements - The faith thread was subtle in this one. Libby's father is a preacher and several people are shown as praying and the killer leaves passages of scripture behind at several of the crime scenes. But there is no over-arching gospel thread or preachiness about it. I would classify it as Christian-light - easily enjoyed by both Christians and non-Christians alike (though the author's note at the end proclaims the gospel). There is a hint of a romance as well, but also not a major theme in the novel other than at the end. The conclusion to the mystery was a surprise, but was very satisfying and I enjoyed how the details worked out. I really enjoyed the story line and it was a fun ride to take! I would recommend this one to fans of suspense and thrillers.

Special thanks to NetGalley for an e-copy of this book. I was under no obligation to write a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.

Wherever Libby goes, she sees her twin sister. The problem is that her twin was killed in an explosion a year ago. Even Libby's parents have seen her. Does insanity run in the family, she wonders.

Meanwhile, a serial killer has been operating in the area. Women who clearly resemble Libby are being targeted, then stabbed to death. When Detective Troy Hunter investigates, his immediate reaction is that Libby may be a future victim .... or is she the killer?

This is a Christian Mystery with a little bit of Romance thrown in. Suspense starts at the very first. Twists and turns lead to an unexpected conclusion. The plot is well thought out and characters are deftly drawn. The author has done a fine job combining not only the suspense and romance, but also family secrets, family lies.

Many thanks to the author / Pelican Book Group / Netgalley for the digital copy of BLOOD SISTERS. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

The only way I can describe this book is a physiological thriller that gave me chills throughout the story. Nothing was what it seems and I had to make sure my door was locked as I read late into the night. There is some talk about mental illness in the book which I thought the author did in a very tactful way. It is without a doubt I believe Libby’s mother suffered from something and as her health declined it became more obvious.
Libby is on the verge of a mental breakdown when she starts losing fami,y members to tragic accidents. I knew she wanted to believe that her twin sister was alive, but oh how creepy it was for her to think she sees her dead sister in the house. When Detective Hunter joins the story he has his hands full with a serial killer who preys on young women with red hair. It was intriguing that puzzle pieces were left on the victims bodies. What did these puzzle pieces have in common? I thought is was brilliant how the author incorporated scriptures that held clues to the killer.
I have to say I didn’t see the ending coming and was shocked at the outcome. I was beginning to think that Libby was mentally ill and maybe she was the killer. Or could her twin be alive and killing people because she was unstable? I really enjoyed this story with physiological aspects that will keep readers on the edge of your seat. At times I though a few of the characters were a little crass and disrespectful in their actions. I didn’t find much in the way of a faith element except when scriptures were mentioned. I do remember Libby’s father was a pastor who did rely on his faith but I’m not sure the rest of the family were as committed to their faith. Get ready for a story that will set your skin crawling as nothing is what it seems. When a deep secret is revealed be prepared to try not to scream. This has been a good thriller that I will remember for a long while.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit and Netgalley. The review is my own opinion.
