A new book by David Baldacci. Just hearing those words should make any book enthusiast start to salivate

And what does he do in this one, he only mixes lead characters from two separate series together. And it works, spectacularly.

The only down side from a new release is the fact that the reader knows that the "one more chapter" sleeplessness is coming to pay a visit and it most certainly did.

Buy, buy, buy this book.

There is a lot going on in David Baldacci’s latest book, Day.ight. An abundance of shootings, murder, chases, angst, and seemingly super human feats flood the pages. This all kept me engaged, but a bit dizzy, throughout, David Baldacci is one of my favorite authors but things seemed somewhat formulaic. And, of course, it ended with a promise of more to come to tie up loose ends in the next book.

Another great David Baldacci read. I hadn't read any of the Atlee Pine books, so decided to just read them all. It is great how he weaves a continuing mystery through the books, while have a mystery in each book with a resolution. Makes it so you can't wait for the next one.

New heroine, Atlee Pine, is back, not only solving FBI cases, but also trying to solve the kidnapping of her twin sister who was taken when they were six years old (Atlee was critically injured and left for dead). Pine has been investigating a minor (she thinks) drug ring case, and runs into John Puller, a military investigator and old friend; Pine blows Puller’s case and prevents him from arresting a suspect, and they team up to solve the drug case together. During the investigation, Pine gets several excellent leads on her sister Mercy’s abduction, and learns that several trusted people have been lying to her. The drug ring case ends up being huge, and includes not only high-ranking politicians, but also military and law enforcement people. Needless to say, this is very risky case, and Pine and Puller are in grave danger.

Fans of Baldacci know that he is a master storyteller, and this one keeps readers on the edges of their seats. One bonus is that he includes two excellent characters from previous novels; both are well-developed and seem real. The supporting characters are also interesting and believable, and make the story unputdownable.

All told, this novel is indicative of the reason that Baldacci is one of the most popular thriller authors in modern fiction. The story is easy-to-follow and has enough ups and downs to keep readers staying up late at night, unable to stop reading. The story is fascinating, but the ending leaves a cliffhanger with the promise of a subsequent novel to come. Readers will need to have patience to wait for a new book. This excellent novel is highly recommended.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

This is the third Atlee Pine book and it is nice to have a female protagonist in this genre of books. I also liked the John/Robert Puller overlap, characters from previous Baldacci books. Daylight got off to a slow start for me but then picked up and I found it a quick read. Pine got closer to the information as to what happened to her sister Mercy while also helping shut down a blackmail scheme set up at high levels of government. The multitude of strings all come together nicely at by the end. I liked the blossoming friendship between Pine and her assistant Blum and overall I found Pine more of a realistic character than the over-the-top version I felt previous books had. I look forward to reading more Pine books in the future.

Thank you to Grand Central Publishing/Hachette Book Group for an early copy in exchange for an honest review.

If you've read and enjoyed the first two instalments of the Atlee Pine series you should definitely grab Daylight as I'm sure you will not be disappointed with book 3. This latest novel by David Baldacci sees Atlee and her sidekick (assistant) Carol Blum back in action solving crimes, fighting bad guys and trying to bring hardened crims and corrupt members of society to justice. As always Atlee and Carol find themselves in some hairy situations but as the book came to its end I realised the door had been left open for Atlee and Carol to make a return so I'll be looking forward to being reacquainted with them if/when that happens.

Atlee was supposed to be on sabbatical from her FBI role, using her time to resolve the mystery surrounding the disappearance of her twin sister thirty years ago. Though she definitely made progress, her personal case took a backseat to another new case she found herself enmeshed in. This has been a winning formula for Baldacci and I really enjoy how this storyline has continued seamlessly throughout all three books.

In my review of A Minute To Midnight (book 2 of this series) I wondered if David Baldacci might develop the friendship/relationship between Atlee and either Sam or Eddie. Apparently that wasn't on Baldacci's radar this time round but I'm not complaining as Daylight kept me completely engrossed in the story from start to finish. With twists and turns at every corner I've come to realise we should expect the unexpected in this series. Another great offering from this prolific and highly successful author.

My thanks to Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity of reading this digital ARC in exchange for an honest review which it was my pleasure to provide.

This book was my introduction to Agent Pine and to John Puller but rest assured I will going back and catching up.

This books picks up on Atlee's search for her sister with her support personnel, Carol Blum. Atlee very early on collides with Puller, literally. Once they realize they are looking for the same person they help one another out.

This book will take you all over the place emotionally and destination wise within the book and it is amazing! This is a great weekender to read. But beware. You are not going to want to put it down. And when you do, it will not always be gently from the emotional investment you'll have made. All I can add is please write faster to this author.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Baldacci at his most suspenseful! This book is by far the best Baldacci I’ve had the pleasure to read!!

Another excellent Baldacci book. This is the third in his Attlee Pine series and might be the best of the three. This book focuses on two key events that are loosely intertwines. Mr. Baldacci does well in maintaining a lot of interest and intrigue in dealing with both issues. This book kept me riveted throughout. I enjoy the Attlee Pine character.. She is a top notch agent with extraordinary physical skills for a female or male and these skills help her in her quest to deal with the two issues. Based on the way the book ended, I expect the series to continue and I look forward to the next Attlee Pine book.

Another thrilling adventure with Attlee Pine and Carol. I loved all the conspiracies and intrigue, but I must say that I am getting bogged down with the Mercy subplot. I know it’s the driving force for Attlee, but it needs to end, so the books can have one case per novel and move on. I enjoyed it immensely though, a great weekend read for our times.

Atlee Pine is still searching for her abducted sister. Now she has a truly promising lead. Following the lead causes her to mess up John Puller's investigation. Atlee and Puller jion forces and the case takes them to the unexpected.

’m a big fan of Baldacci and I read most if not all of his books. He is one of my buy-to author, same with Tom Clancy, John Grisham and Steve Berry. Yes, love those courtroom drama, mystery, suspense reads. When I saw this new Baldacci novel on Pine Atlee series (this is the 3rd in a series but need not read the first 2 to enjoy this one) I immediately want to read it.

The story is about FBI Agent Atlee Pine searching for her twin sister Mercy who was abducted 30 years ago never to be seen or heard from again. When her research lead her to Mercy’s abductor, she crosses path with Army CID John Puller who was out to investigate drug related case involving military installation. Together the two of them uncovers deep layers of lies, deceit and cover-ups as they come close to finding the truth.

Baldacci is a great storyteller and I love his stories and characters. As with all his books, this is an full of action, packed with suspense and some twists in the story which still take me by surprise even after reading his books for years. Atlee Pine is a strong female character and bad ass at that and John Puller ( which has a separate series of his own) gets to interact with Pine. It takes them to new discoveries of murder, kidnapping, corruption and political entitlement. The ending will leave you hanging and will definitely want to see another book of this series as I’m curious what will be next for Pine.

Thanks to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for providing me this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. Publication date November 17, 2020.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC from NetGalley from the newest book in the Atlee Pine series. It is actually a cross over between the Atlee Pine Series and the John Puller Series (which made me realize that the John Puller series is a David Baldacci series that I have not yet read). So, I was able to read the latest book, along with now having a new series to begin afterwards.

I'm trying to put my thoughts together on what my thoughts actually are with this book. This is the third book in the Atlee Pine series, and Atlee is still on personal leave while she attempts to find out what happened to her sister 30 years ago. The problem is that she keeps getting sidetracked by somehow involving herself in other cases as she is investigating her own mystery. This case is no different.

I actually just read an old review I did from this author, but on the Memory Man series, and that actually gave me a starting place trying to put my thoughts in order. When I think back on what I just read with this book, the first word that comes to mind is "confusing". There are a LOT of moving pieces in this book (which seems to be a pretty constant trait with Mr. Baldacci). There is the original reason that Atlee travels to New Jersey for, and then there is the case that she becomes involved with John Puller on. Each of those singularly could be described as complex. With 2 different cases moving forward, that complexity increases exponentially.

Overall, I did enjoy this book. It is filled with constant action and the John Puller story arc is completed with this book. The overall story arc of Atlee's missing family does progress, but it feels like 2 steps forward and three steps back. Without going into spoilers, I will say that the last couple of chapters in the book were very frustrating - frustrating to Atlee and just as frustrating to the reader (and by the reader, I mean me). With the information that is finally given, it feels like there was so much extra effort expended that ended up being worthless. Again, hard to go into details without spoilers, but frustration was the most prevalent feeling for me.

With that being said, it sets the scene for another book in this series. I'm not sure that this particular story line can continue past one more book - I think that would be pushing it - but it finally feels like the end is in sight. I like Atlee as a character and I like the relationship she has with Carol Blum. I'm looking forward to finally having resolution - for both of us (for Atlee and for myself as the reader). It will be interesting to see what other kind of trouble she can get into in the next book :)

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. These opinions are all my own.

I have read Daylight by David Baldacci. It is the third book with FBI agent Atlee Pine and much to my joy John Puller from CID. I just love it when characters from different book series join forces. This is as usual a very well written story by Baldacci he always has such a wonderful flow in his books. It's a pleasure reading them. This book contains a lot of revalations about what happened with Atlees sister thirty years ago, I will not spoil the surprises for you. I have to thank #GrandCentralPublishing and #Netgalley for giving me #Daylight by #DavidBaldacci I take for granted that those that follow me allready has read some of his books otherwise get started at once...

Daylight (Atlee Pine #3) by David Baldacci finds FBI Agent Atlee Pine searching for her twin sister Mercy which brings Pine into the middle of Army Investigator John Puller’s drug ring case, which means anything can and will happen.

Mercy was kidnapped when the girls were six years old, and Pine has the best lead so far in finding out the identity of the kidnapper, Ito Vincenzo. In New Jersey trying to piece the clues together, Pine and Puller probe the connection between their cases.

Will Pine find Mercy? Will Puller close his case? These questions and much more will be answered in Daylight.
David Baldacci published his first novel, Absolute Power, in 1996, and it became a popular movie starring Clint Eastwood. Baldacci, a former lawyer, has published another 40 novels for grownups since Absolute Power.

My review will be posted on Goodreads starting October 30, 2020.

I’d like to thank Grand Central Publishing, the Hatchette Book Group, and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in return for an objective review.

A good continuation of Atlee Pine. Atlee continues to develop as an agent as she settles some mysteries of her past. The story was a little slow to start - rebuilding and reacquainting the reader with the story's history - but about halfway through it rushed and did not need to be put down. As usual, look forward to the next installment. Thank you for the opportunity for an early read in return for an honest review.

The latest Atlee Pine novel with a crossover with John Puller. Loved the story, Atlee is still on the search to find out what happened to her twin sister when they were 6 years old and in the process stumbles upon some major crime in New York. With the help of her assistant Carol Blum and John and Robert Puller the case is on. Can't wait for the next Atlee Pine book to find out what really happened to Mercy Pine. This is a fast paced, edge of your seat book, you never know what's going to happen.

There are no words to describe the trip that this book takes you on. I was drawn in from the very beginning! I loved the dynamic between Pine and Puller! They made a great team! I was so drawn in that I didn’t realize we didn’t hear much Mercy until she was brought up again at the end! I am extremely anxious to see what happens with the Mercy mystery.

I would give this book 10 stars if I could!

. FBI agent Atlee Pine is in search of her twin sister who was taken decades ago. While searching for Mercy, she assists CID special Agent Puller in government corruption. There is a lot of action from drug deals, underage prostitution, and killings. The corruption was so great that parties that should be punished were set free. In our political climate, the corruption in the book may have been too much for me. I liked the action but did not think this book was one of Baldacci’s best. I was also disappointed that we came so close to finding Mercy, only to lose her again.

Atlee Pine is back at it in another great entry to her series. These books seem to follow the same pattern - Pine starts investigating a personal mystery, falls into a larger conspiracy, which happens to tie back into her personal mystery. It's classic Hardy Boys.

I felt the Atlee/Mercy storyline was stronger than the conspiracy mystery, but I could definitely see the latter being plausible in the present day. As with all mystery books, it's hard to review it without giving much away, but there is a ton of action and suspense.

I love the series and can't wait for the next one. Baldacci, you've done it again!

One final thing to note - Another of Baldacci's mainstays, John Puller, "co-starring" in this entry was a nice touch. It was very reminiscent of when Robie made an appearance in the last Decker book. I assume Baldacci is building towards an Avengers-type team up even.... I'm just waiting for Stone to show up at the end of one of the novels, welcoming all the main characters to the "Baldacci Initiative" a la Nick Fury.

ARC from NetGalley, but I was planning to purchase this one on my own.
