Atlee Pine is searching for answers in the abduction of her twin sister, thirty years earlier. Her sister, Mercy was taken, and Atlee was left, but assaulted and almost died. The events shattered her family and is one of the chief reasons she became an FBI agent. All three books have taken us a little closer to the truth of that night, but the focus of each story is divided into that ongoing mystery and a new mystery Atlee which is solved by the end.

I won’t spoil the series by detailing the progress in her search for answers about her sister and family, but I will say that it doesn’t fully resolve by the end of Daylight. Honestly, I was a little disappointed by that, but even so, Daylight was a captivating read! Murder and political corruption are at the center of this mystery, and this time in addition to her intrepid FBI assistant Carol Blum she has John Puller as a partner in tracking down these evil people. Lots of action and danger with them barely coming away with their lives had me on edge of my seat!

So far, there’s been no serious romance for Atlee, but I have hope (hopeless romantic here) that along with the truth, Atlee will find someone special. There was the possibility in the last book, but nothing concrete happened however something may come of it in the coming book (s?).

Atlee is my hero! She’s one badass having been an Olympic weightlifter and MMA competitor, she has the muscle and skill to take on the nastiest fights, and she has no problem fighting dirty when necessary! She’s a champion for victims and can’t stand to walk away when she should be focusing on her own investigation.

This series is best read in order.

I alternately listened and read the book, and the audio was fantastic! Brittany Pressley’s strong, calm voice made Atlee come alive, and I love that Kyf Brewer performed all the male parts. I listened at 1.3x normal speed.

I have only read the first book in this series, and after reading this one, I am going to make sure that I buy the second one and reread all three!

I know that many long-time readers didn't like this book(for many reasons), but I found it fascinating, action-packed, and one that I just couldn't put down. I have no problems with the continuing story of Atlee still looking for her sister. After all, I think that once she finds her sister, the series will have to end, don't you think so too?

Mr. Baldacci uses his usual tropes with this book, and I find it quite comforting that he does so. Some of the 'action' IS a tad far-fetched, but I found it easy to suspend my disbelief and keep reading.

I wholeheartedly recommend this series to any who likes a kick-butt heroine, no romance, and a LOT of action. This is also a book that forces you to use your brain to keep up with all the twists and turns.

Working to finally find her sister, Atlee finally discovers the truth about what happened to Mercy. David Baldacci 's Atlee Pine is one of my favorite characters.

As part of this series you have to wonder what will happen to Atlee once she finally finds her sister. It has been interesting imagining how she will find her, dead, alive, no memory, innocent or not? Each stage in the search closes one door and opens several others. As with most series, characters are getting bogged down with their own histories and relationships. If you like Atlee, keep reading. If she is getting irritating, you can quit here.

David Baldacci has kind of a thing for developing dual plots. One plot will start and end during the book; the other is an overarching plotline that is slowly resolved throughout the series. The Atlee Pine books are no different, with the twist of Daylight, the third book in the series, being a crossover with John Puller. Puller has been my favorite Baldacci character since Oliver Stone and, at least for me, steals a bit of Atlee’s limelight. It’s not a crossover that fits neatly and, if I had to guess, was done with the intention of getting fans to jump over to the Atlee series as well.

The Atlee Pine series stands out because of its eponymous female protagonist. While Baldacci has his men-writing-women moments and the whole female-empowerment motif is a bit overdone, the characterization and plotlines are enjoyable. They’re as over the top as any of Baldacci’s novels and, if you’ve liked his previous books, there’s no reason why you won’t enjoy these as well.

By Daylight, Atlee has made significant progress in the search for her sister. For those who don’t remember, Atlee’s twin sister was kidnapped when they were both six. The kidnapper left Atlee with a crushed skull and almost dead. A major motivation for Atlee’s FBI career has been tracking down her long-lost sister.

Daylight puts that storyline in the forefront. Atlee has a substantial lead—one that comes after discovering the truth of her parents’ shadowy past. It’s a complex line involving failed witness protections, snitching on the Mafia, and a rather bizarre motivation for Mercy’s kidnapping. Baldacci manages to get readers to suspend belief for the crazy storyline by writing a compelling story with just enough mystery to make you think that maybe everything will all be explained in the end.

The B-plot involves a drug ring that John Puller was trying to bust when Atlee inadvertently walked into the sting operation of sorts. Turns out the guy who may be connected to Mercy’s kidnapping might also have some info on a drug trafficking ring. This plot turns out to go much deeper and up to the halls of power as Baldacci explores the ways the rich and famous subvert the law. It’s a bit complex of a storyline for no more play than it gets and really could have used more time to develop. Readers are expected to just take certain things for granted (though Baldacci is very good at making sure we do just that.)

Daylight is the Baldacci formula to a T. If you like his novels, you’ll be at home here. If you’re looking for high literature, go somewhere else. This is all about the crazy what-ifs and page-turning, credulity-straining, high-octane thrills. Atlee just does it with a fair bit of female empowerment rah-rah behind it. It’s a fun, fast-paced novel and, I would imagine, leads into the final Atlee Pine book coming soon.

When I read a book by this author I expect a well written story. He did not disappoint. There was action and thrills with twists and turns. The characters were interesting and well developed. The plot had subplots and characters I wanted to strangle yet others I wanted to see a bigger part. I was invested in the story staying up way to late to read this one. Excellent reading!

Daylight is book three in the Atlee Pine series. In previous books Atlee has relentlessly dug into her past to reveal startling revelations about her parents. Her main agenda is to find out what happened to her twin sister, Mercy, who was kidnapped when they were six.

Currently on leave until she can sort out her personal demons, Atlee is joined by colleague and close friend, Carol Blum. Carol gives a calming presence to Atlee's, at times, bluntness and impulsiveness. Atlee stumbles across a police bust and in true Pine form becomes involved in the case.

Baldacci includes plenty of backstory making Daylight fine as a stand alone. However, to get the full experience I would recommend reading Long Road to Mercy and A Minute to Midnight.
In this latest novel Atlee shows that she is not immune to bad decisions as I found she made plenty during this investigation and I found myself shaking my head over some of the situations she found herself in.

Working together with CID Special Agent John Puller the pair investigate a suspected drug ring and how this connects to a teenager shot by police. Stopped at every turn, shutdown and shutout by higher powers they work to expose a cover-up of epic proportions.

Daylight is fast paced, action packed and suspense filled. Making this a must read for all crime fans.

Daylight is the third book from agent Atlee Pine series. I haven't read the first two books but it's fine I guess hehe I still enjoyed reading this book.

Atlee wanted to find what happened to her twin sister, Mercy after she was abducted when they were six years old. Even after 30 years she never gave up and believe that her sister is still alive somewhere.

Agent Atlee crossed path with John Puller, an Army CID when she follows a lead to find her missing sister. They know each other from the previous investigation and they team up to work on a case of corruption involving the highest level. Damn it was so dangerous, full of actions and suspense. Ohhh I loved both pov's from Atlee Pine and John Puller.

Baldacci’s King and Maxwell series was a top favorite for me until a few years ago, so I jumped at a chance to pick up this arc. While I haven’t read other books in the Atlee Pine series, Daylight has plenty of background for new readers to follow along. Pine is taking time off from FBI work to investigate her sister’s disappearance years ago when she stumbles into a devious conspiracy with huge national ramifications. Does she find her sister and break the clandestine ring? Well, I’ll leave that to you to find out, but I’ll definitely be waiting for the next book to find out what Atlee will do next.

I am a fan of any and all Baldacci books! I was excited to see that this new novel featured not only Atlee Pine but also John Puller. They worked together on a complicated case. Details woven throughout this book helped Pine in her search for her twin sister that was abducted years ago.

The story and characters in this book did not disappoint. It was well written and the plot made sense,

The only thing I wish had been different was the ending. Pine was so close to finding the truth out about the kidnapping of her sister, whom she believes to still be alive. Yet, the book had a cliffhanger.

Daylight by David Baldacci is exciting and reviting. Another installment in the story of Atlee Pine and John Puller is a big plus.

Another thriller by David Baldacci featuring Atlee Pine. Surprise appearances from other characters from previous books made this book top notch! This is one of my favorites from the whole Atlee Pine series! What a treat to read while I am home for the holidays!

I haven't read a David Baldacci novel in years and I dont know why. Daylight was a refreashing return for me. I had forgotten how well written and action packed his novels can be with twist and turns, often ending a chapter on a cliff hanger forcing you to continue reading in suspense.

Having never read the Atlee Pine or John Puller series, a reader can easily pick up their backstories without being clueless as to what happend in the previous novels. Daylight focuses on Atlee Pine in her search for her possibly dead sister, who was abducted when they were children. John Puller is investigating drug smuggling on a military base. Pine and Puller's investigations cross paths. What they think is simple becomes much bigger than they imagined.

As mentioned, Baldacci is brilliant at writing edge of your seat, stay up all night thrillers. Daylight is action packed. The biggest issue I had with some of the twists or revelations is it always seemed like someone owed either Pine or Puller a favor or they would make phone calls to people they know at such and such beaurieu. It happend too often in the novel. I was also less interested in the Puller character than Atlee Pine in her search to what happend to her sister that maybe Baldacci took on more than he could chew in terms of plot.

Despite my minor complaints, I'd highly reccomend Daylight and I will definitely be reading the other Atlee Pine novels.

This is the third book in the Atlee Pine series. I have not read the first two, oddly enough, as I am a huge Baldacci fan and I am super thankful to review this one ahead of publication.
I finished this one in 2 days. Great plot, easy to follow, excellent character development and lots of action.
I loved feeling like I didn't miss a beat joining this series in book three. So well done and I am glad I got to read and review.

Another winner from David Baldacci! Attlee Pine’s search for her sister has been a constant in the first two books, in this one she finally gets some answers although they are not what she expected. This is an outstanding read, 5 stars.

Atlee Pine is plain and simple a bad ass! She is tough and vulnerable. She is a load of contradictions. Her FBI boss has suggested firmly to her, she needs to take care of her head which means to find her twin sister Mercy. I have not read the other 2 books in the series, but the main thread that drives her is what happened to her sister. Is she still alive? Atlee is for looking for answers. When her search collides with John Pullers drug case, the political fireworks begin. Ito Vincenzo name keeps coming up and the case keeps hit a brick wall. A political brick wall.

These two work great together along with her older assistant and friend Carol Blum. She seems to be the anchor for Atlee Pine. And rightfully so. Her mother went missing and she just made contact with her biological father and still is dealing with the suicide of her step father.

The political thriller hits all the marks for me. It is fast moving and unbelievable while believable. There is some bad dudes and dudette but Puller and Pine do not give up. They have a higher calling. The hunt for Atlee's sister turns some crazy corners and spins so I am anxious to see what Baldacci will do on the next book. There will be a next book!

We are following FBI Agent Atlee Pine as she continues her search for answers about her sister's disappearance 30 years ago. In the middle of tracking down a promising lead, she inadvertently interrupts a different investigation being conducted by Army CID John Puller. As the two cases become intertwined, we learn more and more about Atlee and finally get some answers about her missing sister.

Agent Pine was not immediately my most favorite character in the world, but over the course of three books she has really grown on me. She is fierce, smart, strong and determined. She has her flaws but that only makes her more lovable. Also, as the book says, Carol Blum is a national treasure.

I've read a good amount of Baldacci books and his formula works so well for me. If you enjoy fast paced political/crime/law enforcement thrillers then I think you will really enjoy this series. The characters are strong, the plot is exciting and the over arching plot surrounding her missing sister keeps you wanting more. Really enjoyed this one. Might be my favorite Baldacci book to date.

Special Agent Atlee Pine has some serious anger problems and is told by her boss to sort out her underlying trauma’s or leave the FBI. So, now she’s looking for the person who abducted her twin sister and almost killed herself when they were 6-years-olds. After a long series of adventures (that are told in the 2 previous books), she has discovered a large part of the story and the identity of the culprit, Ito Vincenzo. Who has disappeared a long time ago. His son is currently in prison and the grandson is involved in a drug ring. At the start of the book, she disturbs a raid on the grandson’s house/pill factory that was organised by John Puller. Since they have a mutually shared interest in the same persons, they join forces. But they soon experience that they get stonewalled everywhere, even when there’s an attempt on their lives in which another CID agent dies. The local police try to use a black boy as the scapegoat for the shooting. Someone high up in the chain of command must be involved to organise such a massive cover-up. The conspiracy involves people with a lot of power to pull strings in almost every direction the investigation goes. It’s more than dangerous with people dying all around them; friends, witnesses and suspects alike. Both Pine and Puller refuse to give up, though.

I must admit that Atlee Pine is a new character and I’m really sorry that I didn’t read the 2 previous stories as that would have given me a better insight in the kidnapping story, her family relations, and history. As for now, I could piece everything together as the author gives an oversight of the major discoveries she made when she talks to Puller. Him, I do know from earlier books. He was never my favourite character but as a cat-lover, he can’t be too unsympathetic. His brother Robert, whom I like better, also appears in this book. There are also 2 memorable recommendations to make. Carol Blum, Atlee’s administrative assistant shows phenomenal courage under duress and Puller’s cat AWOL not only warns him for intruders but remains stoic after a gunfight. I luckily do not have experience with gunshots but my cat apparently knows that I’m at the door from the moment I step of my bicycle before putting my key in the lock.
Baldacci writes very patriotic books. Even as a foreigner, I feel sympathy for the armed forces and FBI while reading his stories. They’re so suspenseful and compelling that I have problems putting them down to perform my other activities. The plot is rather complicated because of the different crimes they must investigate in various places. There are also so many people involved in the crimes that you have to keep your wits with you. The cross-over between the 2 series is a great success, Puller and Pine strike up a beautiful friendship, but there’s no romance between them. Maybe that can still happen in the future because the storyline of Atlee’s sister Mercy is not finished yet.
