This is my first Atlee Pine book and I loved it! The storyline was believable, intriguing, and kept me guessing. The interaction and resulting partnership with John Puller was enjoyable. I found it utterly refreshing and realistic there was not a love interest or romantic pairing in this book. I’ll be going back to read books 1 and 2 in this series, and for sure sign me up to read Atlee’s next adventure (please Mr. Baldacci, please do continue telling us Atlee and Mercy’s story). If you are like me and you haven’t read the first two books, never fear. You won’t be lost or confused by the storyline.

Thank you to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for the ARC of this book!

This is a high energy story and is the third in the Atlee Pine series. Pine is having a break to see if she can find what happened to her sister Mercy, abducted when she was six years old. She joins forces with a previous Baldacci character John Puller to investigate. This is usual Baldacci territory, the reader is carried along on the force of the action, that is non stop. The ending implies that there may be more to come. This novel will appeal to. Alda isn’t usual fans and fans of fast paced action. Thank you to Netgalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for review.

I had previously read the first Atlee Pine book in the series but couldn't remember it well, but not the second. I was surprised Atlee's sister Mercy is still missing three books later! I found myself getting impatient with the story becoming too complicated with Ito and the related characters and I struggled to follow the relevance to Mercy.

Atlee Pine has been searching for twin sister Mercy ever since she joined the FBI. Hampered by the gaps in her memory caused by the life threatening injuries received during the attack she has struggled for many years to remember what happened on that fateful night. Having finally returned home to try to fill in some of the blanks she now finds herself heading to New Jersey to follow up some promising leads relating to the newly discovered identity of the kidnapper.

With her assistant and loyal friend, Carol Blum, at her side she is shocked to find her case is linked to that of military investigator John Puller through the kidnapper she has only just begun to hunt. Together they realise the connection could strike at the heart of far more than either of them could begin to understand alone and as more information comes to light Atlee finally reaches a shocking realisation of what happened to Mercy all those years ago.

Once again Mr Baldacci has provided a story to keep you reading long into the night. Atlee is a great character and the addition of John Puller is a very clever move as it gives a whole different sense of what has happened and why. Thankfully, although many things have been sorted there is still more to come where Atlee is concerned and I will absolutely be waiting in line for that.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. Anyone who is a fan of this series of books won't be disappointed.

Let me start this review by saying, David Baldacci is one of my favorite authors. I have read and enjoyed many of his books. This book Daylight, was an exception. I tried hard, to like and enjoy this book, but I just could not get into it. It was quite boring and had very little to do with the actual case of the missing sister. I’m, sorry, but not one of his best efforts.

Atlee Pine is an FBI agent, stationed in Arizona, but still on the East coast as she searches for her sister, Mercy, who was abducted 30 years ago. Under pressure from her superior to finish up and get home, she stumbles into the identity of the person who might be responsible for her sister’s kidnapping. Pine, along with her assistant, Carol Blum, go to New Jersey to confront the suspect, but she stumbles into John Puller’s (another Baldacci character with his own 4 book series) drug ring investigation (Puller being an Army investigator). It appears that Pine’s search and Puller’s case are related, and beyond that, there is yet another plot that threatens global stability. Told in true Baldacci style, there is plenty of action and multiple twists that will keep you turning the pages rushing to find out the truth about everything. This is the third book in Baldacci’s Atlee Pine series, and the first that I have read. While the book was very enjoyable, i think it might have been even better (5 stars?) had I read the earlier books in the series. I will go back, but will also look forward to what will be another book in the series. My thanks to Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to review the ARC of this novel.

Another great book from David Baldacci. This one features Atlee Pine, who we've met in previous books, along with John Puller and his brother Robert.

Atlee is an FBI agent stationed in Arizona, she comes to the east coast to try and solve the kidnapping of her twin sister, who was taken when they were children. Along the way she runs into John Puller in the course of his investigation, and the two begin working together to solve both crimes.

As usual for Baldacci, there are a lot of plot twists and unexpected discoveries, all leading up to a fantastic ending. I don't expose spoilers, so you'll have to read this for yourself. I highly encourage you to do so, its a good read!

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

While on its face this is a novel that deals with a global conspiracy, at its root it's about the hunt for a lost twin sister. FBI SA Atlee Pine's twin was snatched when they were 6 years old. Now she's got a lead but she's also stumbled into an investigation being run by Army CID John Puller. Of course they join forces but things aren't so easy, even when they work together. Atlee discovers things about her family she never knew - no spoilers from me. Will the good guys win? Of course they will, eventually but now they get there and what's left to discover is up for grabs. Some of this is outlandish but I found myself wrapped up in the quest for answers. I'd not read any of the books in either the Atlee Pine or John Puller series so while I'm sure I missed some things, this was fine as a standalone. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. It's the sort of page turner that would be perfect as a travel book if we were doing that sort of thing and it was fine as an armchair novel.

Baldacci brings back Atlee Pine and Joe Puller for another suspenseful story about finding Atlee's sister and of course they get pulled into another case they just can't let go. I really enjoy the Atlee Pine series and can't wait until the next book - Baldacci keeps his readers waiting for more!

Despite having been a Baldacci fan for many years, this is the first Atlee Pine book that I’ve read. In this third book in the series, Pine is on a quest to find her twin sister who was kidnapped at the age of six. As she tries to question someone who might give her a lead to finding her sister, she inadvertently interferes with a case that John Puller, a Baldacci series character, is working on. From that point on, Pine assists Puller in this case with the expectation that it may potentially lead to clues about her sister’s fate.

Being a fan of Puller’s character, I wanted the main character in this Atlee Pine book to switch to him. It didn’t! Pine had that roll. This became evident about midway in the book when Puller is shot and hospitalized. Pine picks up his investigation and makes major progress in uncovering the crime taking place and the high-level players involved in it. Unfortunately, the persistence with which she pursues these criminals results in associates and witnesses being either captured or murdered by the bad guys. The ultimate mystery throughout the book is who are the high-level people in this criminal enterprise who have the power to block an Army Intelligence investigation at seemingly every turn.

After wrapping up the case and turning it over to the FBI, Pine tracks down her sister using the information gathered from a drug dealer's beach house. She finds that her sister was imprisoned, but not killed by her kidnapper. Unfortunately, the people who imprisoned her on the kidnapper’s behalf are dead and her sister has, again, disappeared. This was a necessary book conclusion, as, without it, the Atlee Pine series would end. In the next book, we can therefore expect Pine to take up the search for her sister where this book ended.

Not accomplishing the goal that the book’s main character set out to achieve doesn’t mean that this book leaves the reader frustrated. It is a stand-alone book that leaves a reader satisfied and that makes them want to read the next one but doesn’t compel them to do so.

Atlee Pine, FBI agent, is again searching for her lost sister in this book. Her twin sister, Mercy, was kidnapped at age six three decades ago with no word from her since that night. The significant difference in this book is her encounter and partnership with John Puller, who is one of my favorite main characters off all time. In the two previous books featuring Atlee Pine (Long Road to Mercy and A Minute to Midnight), Atlee and her faithful companion, Carol Blum, battle the bad guys. I must be honest and reveal that Atlee Pine is far from my favorite character, but the addition of John Puller makes this novel hard to put down. That being said, the enlightening family history the author provides in this addition to the series makes Atlee more interesting.

David Baldacci is one of my favorite authors. I always put his new books ahead of all others on my "to be read" shelf.

Thank you to Grand Central Publishing through NetGalley for the ARC.

I see now that is the 3rd book in this series and I have not read the other 2 books first. With that being said, maybe that's why I could not "get into" this book and I just had a hard time connecting to the characters. I'm definitely in the minority here with others showing 4-5 stars. Give it a chance, it's probably just me. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early review in exchange for my honest review.

Daylight is the third installment in author David Baldacci's Atlee Pine series. This story begins right where A Minute to Midnight finished. Atlee Pine is a Special Agent with the FBI assigned to the remote and isolated wilds of the western U.S. as a Resident Agent. She's also criminal profiler specializing in serial killers--a field she became interested in after her twin sister Mercy was abducted and she was left for dead. With her boss’s permission, Atlee, and Carol continue the search for information about Mercy by heading for New Jersey.

She finally has a credible lead, but one that will put her in the crosshairs of another agent's case. Every time Atlee gets one step closer to finding out what happened to Mercy, something always gets in the way. The more she finds out, the more she realizes that many facets of her life were just an illusion including who her parents were. She is determined to find the truth, and no one is going to stand in her way. Upon her arrival in Trenton, New Jersey, Atlee goes hunting for Teddy Vincenzo, the grandson of Ito Vincenzo who Atlee now believes was involved in the disappearance of her sister Mercy. She encounters trouble right away, but not the bad kind.

US Army Chief Warrant Officer & CID Special Agent John has been working on an investigation of a case involving illegal drugs at a large army base located in Fort, Dix, New Jersey. His lead takes him right to Teddy Vincenzo’s doorstep where he runs into Atlee. Atlee and Puller find that there are common factors in both of their investigations. They decide to pool their resources and in doing so come upon a conspiracy involving highly placed officials of the U.S. government, as well as many extremely wealthy and influential men and women.

The action is constant for both Atlee and Puller. They can be hurt and require recuperation time showing that they are human and not supermen. For those who haven’t read the Puller series by this author, join the crowd. I do understand that Puller is something of a hero with rows of ribbons and medals that would make a 4-star General blush with envy. Puller’s brother Robert is a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Air Force with some of the highest security clearances a person can have in this country. Robert joins Atlee and John when a friend of the family is removed from his command, and others seem to be doing everything they can to shut Atlee and John down by any means necessary.

After Atlee and John wrap up their case, Atlee & Carol return to Georgia to deal with some information that she discovered over the course of this story as well as her alleged father’s knowledge of the events. I am not going to say anything more about what she discovers since apparently this isn’t the final book in the series. I will say that what happened to Mercy shouldn’t happen to anyone ever. Is Mercy still alive? I don’t know. Fairly good chance that she is but Atlee has a long road to go before she is finally finished with her journey. She also needs to figure out what happened to her parents who all but abandoned her.

I liked the pairing of Atlee and Puller and would think about picking up the books in his series and reading them. There’s nothing romantic about the pairing. Just two people who are good at their jobs and must deal with so much over the course of this series. I continue to express my fondness for Carol Blum who has been working for the FBI for 4 decades. Her loyalty to Atlee and what she goes through makes her an extraordinarily strong woman to emulate. Once again, the author’s conspiracy theories involve something so farcical that you must suspend disbelief at times. But, then again, who knows? We’ve seen worse from our elected representatives and K-street lobbyists and advocacy groups.

I’ve been a David Baldacci fan since I discovered The Camel Club in high school. I’ve read every single book except Atlee Pine #2. The first Atlee Pine novel, Long Road to Mercy, was disappointing. Perhaps I had too much excitement over a female protagonist, but she fell flat for me. The story was intricate, and ensnared me enough to make me finish, but I didn’t love it, so I didn’t read book 2.

NetGalley and the publisher recently gave me the opportunity to read book 3, Daylight, and offer my opinion. I liked it better than book 1, but Atlee’s characterisation still isn’t working for me. I just really struggle to find her believable. In good news, I didn’t miss too much in the second book. Despite my misgivings, I still got hooked on the storyline and couldn’t put it down. Really not sure if I’ll read the next book when it comes out or not. I do kind of want to know what happens re Mercy, but maybe I can just google it?

My rating: 4 stars. I have always enjoyed Baldacci's writing and have read all his books! Yes, I did enjoy this novel ...but, I did end up speed reading over sections of the book that (in my mind) ...the author was rambling! I did feel like I needed to refresh my memory and read the last book as there was some details that were brought up that I had forgotten about or wish the author was a little more clear on. I do think the author needs to bring to conclusion what happened to Atlee's sister. I would not like to see this ending up 10 - 15 novels down the road!

I would like to thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this novel in exchange of an honest and unbiased review

Awesome! Get all three Atlee Pine novels! You can always tell as soon as you start a book if it is written well and this is the embodiment of a well written story that grabs you from the beginning and doesn't let go. I wanted to know what was going on and how it would play out. It is almost two stories blended nicely into a great book. Atlee Pine is searching for her twin sister who was kidnapped when they were very young, She is FBI but on leave to focus on finding out what happened once and for all. Is she alive somewhere and can she find her if she is? Most likely she is no longer alive but Atlee wants to know for sure to move on plus her boss says it's distracting her work. While following leads she stumbles into a sting by John Puller a military investigator after the same person Atlee was aiming to talk with. She blows his operation and they end up working his case together as she is after information from him, It turns out to be very deadly for both of them.
I highly recommend this book and I am planning to get the two previous books that I missed that feature Atlee Pine and her search for Mercy her missing twin,
Thank you David Baldacci, NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing.

I just love all David Baldacci books, especially when he combines series. The enjoyed the first 90% of this book, but the last 10% was disappointing.

Can this series get any better than this?! Wow, never was I more enthralled in a book without a lick of romance in it. I don’t usually read romance as a genre but I prefer my books to have sprinkles of romance. I admit shamelessly that I kept looking for it and waiting in this book but it never happened and you know what, I’m not even disappointed! And that’s BIG.

After that bomb was dropped in book 2, I was ever more keenly to follow up on Atlee’s hunt for her twin sister, Mercy. I’m going to be fair and give you warning of a nuclear blast in this one. And the ending hurts… It’s not finished yet though. I think Baldacci has more pain in store for us 😰

Of course, such a thick book can’t just be about Mercy. Atlee inadvertently stumbled over a raid and an old friend while following up information on Mercy. And again, of course, there are much bigger things at play but this time, it’s all the way to the highest level of authorities. As their investigation is being stonewalled from above, it didn’t mean the field work stops because not only are people’s lives have been lost, the country is also at risk.

There seems to be quite of a bit of patriotism in this novel (a lot of comments of serving the country, etc) and there are also certain contemporary issues bought out in it. I feel the author’s love for his country and at the same time acknowledging some deep-rooted issues in it. And in all this, kept readers riveted to the unfolding plot of crime solving. Daylight is my favourite of Baldacci’s so far; highly recommend that fans get behind this series!

4.25 HeartsI love the writing style of Baldacci.

For years Atlee has wondered what happened to her sister, Mercy and finally she is going to get some answers. But finding answers also has her finding herself causing a problem in the arrest of a wanted man. And now she has to right the wrong she caused. Leading to a global search.

Any fan of suspense/crime thriller will LOVE this book. There is so much going on and it is non-stop. This could easily be turned into a movie with all the ins and outs that happen.

Baldacci has a way of writing that pulls you in and leaves you wanting more. At time I was on the edge of my seat wanting to know what was going to happen.

Great book.
