I requested this book because I am a part of the Diversity & Inclusion committee in my roller derby league and wanted to see what this book would add to our conversations. Sadly, the answer was nothing. The book itself is good, but perhaps better suited for entities that are just starting with this work.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. This is totally my fault but I saw Birds of All Feathers and thought it was a book about birds. Regardless diversity and inclusion are an important part of management and running businesses. Some good insights, though I could do without the humor.

Diversity and inclusion is a hot button topic in today's corporate and academic world. I have been included in countless diversity and inclusion workshops that I have found useless, and this book did an excellent job doing what those workshops failed to do. I think this is a good starting point for people of all backgrounds.

Birds of All Feathers is a primer for developing, cultivating and maintaining inclusive workplace cultures. The author presents his findings in clear, simple, and (sometimes) humorous ways. I flipped about to the parts that were of interest, and found particularly of note the six-step proposal for jumpstarting better and more effective methods of inclusion and representation. It's interesting to compare this program to others, and to work through to find workable philosophies and action points. An informative read that helps set the groundwork for the good work.
