I felt a little lost starting with this book versus reading the prior ones and this being an addition. The characters felt very one dimensional and little growth. Lady Letitia, is known as a wallflower and as such easily dismissed. I liked her as a heroine but felt like she deserved way better than Viscount Wynn. He acted more like a boy denied a treat than a man in love. Only when she cut him off from meeting her did he "realize" his love. This was after many hurtful things he stated and we are just to believe that he fully changed in a matter of days; with no real proof of the "ah ha" moment. I would read more books by this author as I really liked some of the other characters but the hero ruined this book for me.

A wallflower, Letitia, is intrigued when rake, Edward, finally notices her. She decides to finally go after what she wants, which is Edward. Will he be willing to change his ways to be with her? I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Press for my honest review.

Always the Wallflower by Emily E.K. Murdoch

The quiet ones are the ones who you better not mess around with! Letitia was a Wallflower and she was not going out of her way to get men to take notice of her, but they should. Why is it that people think that if you don’t make a spectacle of yourself or be loud and talkative that you are not worth getting to know? I was also one of those who stayed in the background and just excelled at whatever task I was supposed to,but I never went out of my way to make people notice me or be part of the in-crowd!
Letitia had her group of friends where she seemed to come alive and never worried that they were critiquing everything. Where when you are out in a big public forum everyone is watching every move and eyeing your outfit for any reason that it doesn’t make you look perfect. Letitia was not into fashion or being one of the ton people. She wanted a family, but not if she had to lower her self. I loved her principles and that she wasn’t willing to compromise for anything but falling in love. She loves the biggest rogue of them all, Edward Wynn. He does end up taking her to bed and breaking her heart just like a rake does! Her heart is crushed and of course she literally wants to die, but she is not that type of person and is going to stand up for herself and not let anyone get her down. She has the strongest character and will go back out in public and hold up her head and will dare people to cut her because she has the power of her family but most of all it’s her strength of personality!
I loved the fact that the author created this character to have such a strong backbone and was so eager to insure to those who thought in anyway that she would hide and let them run their mouths. Nope, she would be front and center by her wall and they could say what they want as she watched! Most would have left and hidden and even went to the country until another scandal hit the balls. However, not this socialite, she was going to hold up the walls as the resident Wallflower! I loved it! Poor Edward realized that he truly found true love, but he screwed up, but now he didn’t know what to do or how to fix it, because for the first time in his life he didn’t have any clue what words to use.
Men that used words just to use them to get what they wanted and then when they really want something they desire, they are at a loss because the words are useless. The words have no meaning because they never were ever used for purposes of goodness.
How sad in life to not know how to use the right words for a worthy cause. I almost felt bad for him because of his pain and basically his ignorance and arrogance, but I think he deserved to have the set down because a person has to learn that they can’t just hurt people at will like that. A person has to take accountability for their actions and when they harm another person even if it was I intentionally or not, they still need to take the consequences for the pain their actions caused.
I love this book because it teaches people to be aware of harming others feelings because it can cause irreparable damages.
I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and I am willingly giving my thoughts and opinions.

Enjoyable read that keeps your attention, and every character is wonderful.

I Love Edward Wynn , the Viscount is such a handsome Rake.
This man has a way with words , he can debauch a lady with two minutes of conversation. That makes him dangerous in any mothers book.

Letitia Cavendish is a Wallflower, but doesn’t want to be, she lacks confidence.
Meeting Edward will make it break her. She scared it will be the latter.

These two do have a brilliant chemistry, but constantly she doubts both him and herself, it’s quite sad seeing her torment, but is she right to doubt his honour.

Very enjoyable and entertaining, the characters and story are wonderful, mixing beautifully with the rest of the series.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

Always the Wallflower
Series: Book 5 in the Never the Bride
Rating: 2 stars
Thank you to the publisher for the ARC given through NetGalley for review. All opinions are my own.

I will be honest and say that I enjoyed most of this book until I didn't. I really liked how Lady Letitia Cavendish, wallflower of 22, brought one of the most infamous rakes to his knees. She's always been very shy and was only comfortable with her friends, but when Viscount Wynn, Edward, comes to town she's attracted to him causing her more social anxiety. It seems that for Edward, Letitia was a challenge because she didn't immediately swoon at his feet. Which was a very big surprise for him because apparently women drop at his feet every time he pays any attention to them. Everything was going well. You could see that they were developing feelings for each other, though he was in denial most of the time. His friends could clearly see what was happening to him, he was the one oblivious to it.
Towards the end of the book it is when it all went downhill for me. What he did to prove that he still had swag with the ladies made him a jerk. From then on I really didn't like him and I can't believe how easily Letty forgave him. It really upset me how he behaved, especially because she was honest with him about her feelings and to me it seems that he took advantage of her. I loved it when she totally tells him off and he's actually caught by surprise at her reaction. Really?!? Also I didn't believe for a second he really loved her not when previous days he had done that. She deserved so much more!

Always the Wallflower is the fifth book in the Never the Bride series. It was fast-paced and had charming characters that had me rooting for them to find their happy ever after together. The storyline was developed, and this was a good addition to the series, but it can be read as a stand-alone with no problem. Lady Letitia Cavendish’s family is wealthy and distinguished yet she is so shy she becomes terrified when she becomes the center of attention. She dreams of a gentleman asking her to dance but hides among the shadows at events and is considered a wallflower by all of society. Edward Wynn is handsome and known as a flirt. He wasn’t used to women ignoring him, so Letitia confused and intrigued him. His feelings for her are new to him and scare him. Can they overcome their fears and go for the unknown?

I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.

Having just finished the previous book in this series, I was overjoyed when my approval email came through for Always the Wallflower. This book is the story of Lady Letitia Cavendish, who is a perpetual wallflower and extremely uncomfortable in society. Being the bridesmaid at her friend, Harry's wedding, to her cousin, the Duke of Devonshire, has left her in the spotlight and she's more than a little overwhelmed. Her parents want her to be the belle of society - being a Cavendish, after all, it's what society expects - and she has only ever felt like a fish out of water. When the adoptive brother of her friend, Mariah Wynn, appears in town, he keeps wanting to spend time with her, and his notorious reputation is only one thing that she's wary of. Edward Wynn, the Viscount of Stulsemere, knows his title and his appearance have always opened doors for him, and he's never been denied, but with Letitia, she's not impressed with his rogueish ways. He's drawn like a moth to a flame, and will he be able to convince her that his feelings are genuine, and he's not just using her?

Letitia had intrigued me in Always the Best Friend, and having the chance to see her story was wonderful. She is still treated like a child by her parents, even though she's 22, and between their own expectations, and that of the ton, she never fit in with society. Only with the group of friends she's grown up in is she comfortable, and they are really protective of her, and of the way others see her. She's sort of the butt of all jokes with how much of a wallflower she is, and people seem to enjoy ridiculing her, so when Edward starts showing her attention, so more than a little apprehensive of his intentions. Edward has always been known as a flirt and a rake, but around Letitia, he's changing, and that's plainly obvious when he punches another 'gentlemen' for his comments about Letitia. The chemistry between the couple develops as the story grows, and the way that we see Letitia coming out of her shell, and being a strong and feisty character was an amazing transformation. I enjoyed the way the angst and plot twist was dealt with, and think that the next book will be Mariah's, and I'm dying to learn more about how her and Edward have come to be so estranged.

Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for a the Advance Copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Devoured this book just like the others in the series. I love the way Letitia overcomes her shyness to a certain point but doesn't lose her uniqueness. I'm looking forward to the next one.

What happens when Letitia, permanent wallflower, is introduced to Edward, Legendary rake? Fireworks! What a lovely story!

Despite being cousin to a duke and part of powerful family, Lady Letitia Cavendish is a painfully shy wallflower. Viscount Edward Wynn is an overconfident rake, recently returned to town. When he is partnered with Leticia for a dance, she finds him both alluring and insulting so she walks away and leaves him standing alone on the dance floor. Having never been treated this way, Edward is suddenly intrigued and obsessed.

This is the fifth book in the Never A Bride series. There are a lot of crossover characters, so it works best as part of the series. I thought the description sounded good and I really wanted to like this book, but sadly I didn't. I did not care for Edward and it got worse as the story went on, not better. I just didn't buy this relationship.

Lady Letitia Cavendish is cousin to the Duke but nobody really knows her. She is so nervous she spends her time trying to hide herself away. Her parents insist that she go to nearly every ball of the season where she stays by the wall instead of dancing. Our heroine will find out she has more courage than she thought.

Edward Wynn, Viscount of Stulsemere is the most notorious rake in Town. Women are easy for him until he is introduced to a beauty that has gone unnoticed. Our hero has a serious lesson to learn.

A lovely historical romance with fabulous characters. It is part of a series but each book can be read on it's own. A very enjoyable read.

Letitia Cavendish is a wallflower who doesn't like to be noticed at parties and balls. Edward Wynn is a Viscount who is a terrible rake and proud of it. When they're introduced at Almack's for a dance. Edward can't figure out why she doesn't respond to his flirtatious conversation. Instead he inadvertently insults her. Edward is in pursuit and wants nothing but Letitia, until his old habits come back into play. A wallflower trope is one of my favorite.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Sadly this one was not for me. I was initially intrigued by the premise and thought I would have really enjoyed this book, however, this was not the case. The story revolves around a self proclaimed wallflower, Letitia Cavendish, who suffers from crippling shyness to the point where you have to feel bad for her. The love interest, a rake, Edward Wynn, instantly becomes obsessed with her after he insults her and she storms off. This was all well and fine and I grew to really like Letitia and Wynn as a couple. However 60% into the book is where everything went downhill for me. Wynn essentially does what he likes and makes excuses and uses loopholes in his wording to say it's not his fault he did what he did all the while proclaiming he loves Letitia. He goes from saying he is obsessed with her to saying that he does not love her and does not plan on marrying her, the poor girl is suffering from emotional whiplash. After the major disagreement, which left me decided against Wynn, he just shows up and is suddenly forgiven. I was holding out for Letitia to actually hold up to her growing back bone but that went downhill fast. So, all in all, I was left disappointed by the conclusion of the story and disappointed in the characters. I really enjoyed the first half of the book though. Even though this book did not work out for me I hope it might work out for anyone else who reads it and gives it a chance, maybe this romance is for you!
