A Page Marked for Murder is a fun, small town cozy with not one but two mysteries within its pages.

The cozy town of Greybore Harbor is shaken when a dead body is found behind the bakery. That hits close to home with Addie, as the suspect is her assistant mother. Addie does what she does and starts putting her nose to the ground and figures out what is going on. When a rare book goes missing as well, Addie can’t help to think the two are connected.

Addie Grayson as a fantastic lead character. I enjoyed her way of thinking. She thinks things through and uses a good bit deductive reasoning letting her see things for what they really are.

I very much enjoyed A Page Marked for Murder. Author Lauren Elliott crafted a well written mystery. Well paced and plenty of things going on to keep us guessing. Many likable characters throughout the story just add to the enjoyment of the story. Easy to read yet will keep you guessing Ms, Elliott gets a thumbs up from me

I thought I was going to love this one as the heroine Addie didn't get on my nerves as much as she did in the previous books in the series. And I did enjoy the mystery to this one and it was a pretty fast read. However, there was a female police detective in this one that I could not stand nor could I understand why she did some of the things she did. Such as sending a pregnant cop who was on desk duty to a possible break in, I'm sorry that's not believable that wouldn't happen in real life. As the officer would indeed be riding a desk for nine months. And no one would be dumb enough to send her to a crime. But other than that it was a good read.

Another good entry in Lauren Elliott's "Beyond the Page Bookstore" series. Cozy mystery fans will enjoy both the plot and the characters.

When I read a book there are a couple of factors that let me know if I enjoyed the book or not. I look to see how I manage to find the time to read in the midst of a busy life. Do I read it during breaks in the day, do I stay up at night, do I read the book instead of reading the news? This book ticked all the boxes. As well I notice how I feel when a book is finished. In this case life seemed a little empty as if my partner has just left home on a long trip. I guess I have to say that I really enjoyed Lauren Elliott’s latest book A Page Marked for Murder.

I have read this entire series and have enjoyed how we are getting to know all of the characters, bit by bit. In the latest book, one is invited right into Addie’s life. So close it was a bit uncomfortable at times to think of who the murderer might be. Lauren has a great ability to keep us guessing and turning the pages for not only a great mystery novel but also a sense that we too are living in this small coastal town in New England and walk through the streets with Addie. It leaves one waiting for yet another in the series.

In A Page Marked for Murder, Addie is the owner of the Beyond the Page bookshop. It is time for the town’s Fire and Ice Festival to celebrate taking down Christmas trees after the holidays. It has an ice carving festival and a Christmas tree bonfire on the beach.

However, Addie has other problems. Her friend Gloria has fallen off a ladder. Addie, who has never had a pet, is chosen to take care of Gloria’s miniature Yorkipoo, Pippi. Addie’s store assistant, Paige, is having baby daddy custody issues. The other store clerk, Addie’s cousin Kalea, is too busy running around to do her job. However, when Paige’s baby daddy is found murdered in the alley behind the book shop, Paige is the obvious suspect. Addie must drop everything, but Pippi, to find the real murderer.

A Page Marked for Murder is a cute cozy mystery. I love Pippi! The mystery itself is a challenge. Another challenge for readers new to this series, like me, is to untangle the complicated family relationships within the book. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars!

Thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

Much like the lasgana from Mario's, this story is multi-layered and very good. Addie Greybourne cannot seem to keep herself out of mystery solving, but this time it will surely win over her business neighbor Martha once and for all. Matha's daughter, Addie's shop assistant Paige has not had the best of luck with men, her Dad took off when she was young leaving her with what turns out to be a first edition of the Secret Garden, and her college professor bails after she has their little girl. Now both are back in town and Martha has definetly gone MaMa bear over it. Which is great until ends up dead in the alley behind the bakery and of course is the one to find him. She can't stand to see Paige suffer and surely Mama Martha didn't mean she would kill the guy when she said that she was going to put an end to his nonsense, she didn't mean and end to him, did she? Layer number two involves the mystery of how Gloria fell off of a ladder while event prepping for the town's Fire and Ice event, leaving Pippin, her pooch to be taken car of by Addie. Addie can't believe how quickly she falls for the dog, since she never considered herself a pet person. Lastly, mystery number 3 has to do with the Secret Garden book going missing...There are several out of towners in town for the festival and some who are in town for other things, perhaps nepherious things. Addie is sure to get to the bottom of it with the help of Paige who watches the shop, Serena who is great for bouncing ideas off of and of course Simon, her partner in crime and in matters of her heart. Addie is getting so close to being able to say those three little words that weigh heavy on her mind and her emotions. Great story, cannot wait for the next one, maybe a little Valentines Day and a priceless love story to go with it.

The fifth book in the Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series by Lauren Elliott. Addie is back with another murder mystery in the quaint town of Greyborne Harbor. In addition to a murder to solve, Addie also looks for a stolen book.

4.5 stars

In this fifth installment in Lauren Elliott's Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series, bookstore owner Addie Greyborne becomes embroiled in two mysteries during the winter season. The first mystery occurs when someone close to her employee Paige is found dead behind Martha's Bakery. The owner, Martha, who also happens to be Paige's mom, and was seen arguing with the victim, immediately becomes the main suspect. Addie is determined to clear her name and find the real culprit. The second mystery occurs when a valuable book belonging to Paige is stolen from the home of the woman she had lent it to. Is there a connection between the murder and the stolen book? Addie is determined to find out.

Another enjoyable visit to Greyborne Harbor. I loved the descriptions of the cold weather, the bookstore, the town, and its colorful residents. The addition of Pippi was a lot of fun and I found myself wishing he was Addie's dog. It was also nice learning more about Paige and Martha. Addie has really grown on me these past two books and I look forward to visiting her again in the future. As for the mystery, I thought it was well-done. There were plenty of red herrings provided in an attempt to misdirect the reader, and in my case, it completely worked because the killer wasn't even on my radar.
All in all, this is a great series, and I definitely recommend it.

A Page Marked for Murder by Lauren Elliott is the 5th book in Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series, and another great addition. Addie Greyborne was a librarian at the Boston Public Library, working with rare books. After her fiance was murdered, and her father was killed in a car accident Addie moved to a small town in New England where she inherited a mansion, Greyborne Manor, from her great aunt. With all the books left in her aunt's home she was able to open her own bookstore. When a rare first addition book goes missing, Addie is determined to find out what happened to it. I enjoyed this book, with all the twists and turns, and I can not wait for the next book in the series. If you love cozy mysteries, I highly recommend this book/series. I recommend you read the book in order if you can, the characters have changed and grown so much.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This fantastic wintertime cozy mystery takes place in New England and features one of my favorite things: mysteries about bookshops and/or books! This time, it's about a first edition of The Secret Garden. Naturally there is a murder and our protagonist Addie has to solve the case. I thoroughly enjoyed the setting, the characters, and the mystery. It was a joy to read and I would recommend this series to anyone who likes cozies, mysteries, and literary-themed books.

A Page Marked for Murder by Lauren Elliot is another great story in the Addie Greybourne series. Addie sees some men arguing outside Martha's bakery and then she sees Martha who is less than happy. Looking down she sees Gloria's little dog, shivering at her feet. Now, that is odd, so she picks the pup up and wanders over to the park where she knows Gloria is setting up for the Ice Festival. There she is disconcerted to see Gloria sprawled on the ground: she has fallen off a ladder and she is lying at a very odd angle. An ambulance is called and Gloria is off to the hospital with her best friend, Martha, at her side and Addie following with the pup. Addie and the pup can't go in but Martha kindly arranges that Addie puppy sit, so off they go to Gloria's house to pick up the necessary items. While they are there Addie spies a copy of The Secret Garden, which she immediately assesses as extremely valuable. It turns out it belongs to Paige, Martha's daughter and Addie's assistant. Of course, within a couple of days there's a murder...one of the men who Addie had seen arguing, now several times, who turns out to be Paige's ex and little Emma's father. At his body is found at the back door of Martha's bakery. Things are not looking good.

Elliot writes an excellent multi-layer novel. There is so much going on here with so many characters. It is all inter-related as is life but that makes it fun to read. There is Kalea, Addie's cousin, who is a deadbeat and living off Addie. She can't even bother to show up to work at Addie's bookstore on a regular basis. Plus, she eats and drinks all of Addie's food without blinking an eye. Addie hits the roof when Kalea tells her latest boyfriend that Addie's house is hers, and Addie is the houseguest. Funny scenes. So many broken relationships contribute to this story. It makes one wonder if there is something in the water. This book has it all: infidelity, deception, murder, young love, artful detective work, near death, and more. It is a delightful read with good characters and a compelling plot. I recommend it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for kindly providing me with a digital copy of this book for review.
This is book 5 in the Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series. I have read one book previously but wasn’t caught up with the series, but I found that reading this book out of order did not impact on my enjoyment of the book.
What I found interesting about this book is that it is set just after Christmas- still very much a cold and snowy read but if you don’t want a lot of Christmas content in your winter reading, this one would be perfect.
I didn’t find the story so heavy on the book theme this time either. There was a little mystery around a rare edition of The Secret Garden, but this wasn’t the main plot point.
I enjoyed re-visiting these characters that are well written and engaging. And there’s enough plot twists and turns to keep you guessing. Will definitely be carrying on with the series.

A Page Marked For Murder is the fifth book in the A Beyond The Page Mystery series by Lauren Elliott.

Addie arrives at work one morning to find her assistant, Paige, very upset. Paige will tell her that her ex-husband, Brett Palmer, is in town and demanding he see his daughter, and he is going to seek joint-custody of her. He has never been in his daughter’s life or has helped with support. Paige’s mother, Martha, who owns the bakery next door, is as upset with the ex’s demands as Paige is. A day or two later, when Addie arrives for work, she sees a man huddled up next to a heating vent at the rear of Martha’s bakery. Addie thinks it might be “Old Bill,” a homeless man, seeking a little warmth from the cold weather. But as she gets closer, she finds it to be Brett Palmer, a victim of murder. When the police learn of Martha and Brett’s heated altercation, Martha is arrested and taken into custody. Addie and Martha have never been friends, barely tolerating each other. Addie doesn’t think Martha is capable of murder will set off to clear her name.

Addie has another mystery she is trying to solve. Her friend Gloria is doing some final work on Greyborne Harbor’s Fire and Ice Festival decorations when she falls from the ladder. When Addie visits her at the hospital the next day, Gloria asks her to get the book from her nightstand at home. When Addie looks for the book, it’s not there. Addie will find that the book is a first edition of The Secret Garden and could be worth $25,000. Addie soon learns that the book is one that Paige had loaned to Gloria. Addie begins to wonder if someone from Paige’s family has learned of its value and has stolen it.

Addie and Simon, her doctor/coroner boyfriend, will put their heads together, trying to learn who the killer is.

The story well-plotted and written and very interesting. I enjoy visiting the town of Greyborne Harbor and it’s residents. The characters are all developed and interesting.

I’m looking forward to the next book in the series, Under The Cover Of Murder, due out, March 30, 2021.

It's winter in Greyborne Harbor and Addie Greyborne is focusing on the upcoming Fire and Ice Festival with fire works and ice carving. Sounds innocent enough until a killer strikes and it involves her employee, Paige. Addie has not had a smooth history with Greyborne Harbor and things were starting to improve but one person who has only sort of made peace with her is Paige's mother who owns the bakery. When a body is found behind her bakery and she becomes the prime suspect, Addie goes into sleuth mode. Feelings aside, Paige needs help to clear her mother's name and a killer needs to be unmasked.
The other puzzle to solve is the whereabouts of a valuable copy of The Secret Garden, a childhood favorite of mine. That alone was enough to pull me into the mystery. Addie really should let the police do all of the investigating but she has a talent for observation and detection and she cares about Paige. No question that Addie will do her very best to help out. Keeping herself off of the killer's hit list is a must, as well.
This is the fifth in the series and I think it should be read in order. Addie's history with the town that shares her family name is complicated and she has come along way finding her niche in town.
I'm eager to read book #6, Under the Cover of Murder, when it's published March 30, 2021.
My thanks to the publisher, Kensington and to NetGalley for giving me an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

The Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series by Lauren Elliott has become one of my favorite cozy series, and A PAGE MARKED FOR MURDER is the best book to date. With its relatable characters, cozy small town setting, and two mysteries to be solved, it is a delightful read, perfect for the chilly winter months.

In this fifth book in the series, protagonist and bookstore owner Addie finds herself in the middle of yet another murder mystery. When someone close to Addie’s assistant Paige is found murdered behind her shop’s neighboring bakery, Addie cannot help but get involved. Bakery owner Martha, who also happens to be Paige’s mother, quickly becomes the prime suspect. In addition to the murder, a prominent member of the community is injured leading Addie to dog sit, Addie’s cousin is trying her last nerve, and a valuable copy of THE SECRET GARDEN that belongs to Paige goes missing. Addie definitely has her sleuthing work cut out for her.

I really like Addie. She is mature and makes a quite capable amateur sleuth. She is smart. Methodical, and does not jump to conclusions. Even though her relationship with the police is not as close as it once was, she is still respectful of them. All of the characters are well developed and entertaining, but the new characters essential to this book are not all likable. I enjoy Pippi the dog and hope Addie gets one of her own. I did not care much for Addie’s cousin Kalea in the previous book, and I hope we have seen the last of her within these pages. The mystery is well plotted and paced just right. Convoluted enough to keep readers guessing through most of the book, there are plenty of suspects and motives to consider.

A PAGE MARKED FOR MURDER is excellent! I look forward to many more adventures featuring Addie and friends. Highly recommended.

I received an ARC of this title from the author and Kensington Publishers and voluntarily shared my thoughts here.
