Loved it......Just as good as the first book. G.A. Aiken does not disappoint. Love all the characters and the story she is weaving with each new book.

Shit is about to go down!!! G.A. Aiken has built a whole with amazing characters that are funny and loyal and I would fight for them if I could. The characters are finding their place in the battle between Queens and there is always conflict to fight for the good of the Queendom. I love that we changed POV in the book and similar to the Dragon Kin we get different characters' stories. I love that we still get to see Keeley and her family. The new characters that are introduced make the story so fun to read and does not feel overwhelming. I love the action that this book has and the subtly romance. Its truely a story that captures the reader and wonder how it will turn out. Great read! Can't wait to read the next one!

I read “The Blacksmith Queen” a few years ago and enjoyed it well enough for the wacky thing it was: a fantasy, romance, kind of comedy, kind of urban fantasy, bizarre little story. I hadn’t read anything else by the author, so I really didn’t know what I was getting into. But I did like the main characters, especially Keely, and usually that’s enough for me to want to continue on with a series. I requested this sequel quite a while ago and only got around to it recently, however. I’m glad I finally did though, because I thought it was a lot of fun!

Gemma has always been a warrior, fighting her elite force of monks. But her loyalties are tested and refocused when her sister becomes the fabled Queen. But the War Monks don’t follow her, instead choosing her younger, and more brutal, younger sister. But Keely’s efforts need their support, and it is up to Gemma to persuade them back. Perhaps, she wonders, they will respond better to someone equally unhinged? Perhaps the infuriatingly handsome and unruly fighter, Quinn? With so much at stake, Gemma must find a way to bridge these divides and bring aid to her sister’s fight.

As I said, I hadn’t read this author’s previous series (same world), so I wasn’t familiar with out multiple books in the same story really operated. I was pleased to find that this one continued forward with having several POV characters and that, most importantly, Keely still featured heavily as a main character herself. I was excited to read about Gemma, of course, but I wasn’t looking forward to totally forgoing Keely who I’d liked so much in the first book and who, being queen, still had a large role to play going forward.

The characters, overall, still remain my favorite part of this story. I was particularly interested in reading Gemma’s story and her attempts to balance her loyalties between her sister, the queen, the fighting force of monks that she had been fully committed to prior to the last story. Her history around the worship of the death god that the warrior monks serve was also very interesting, as well as, of course, their practice of raising the dead. I did struggle a bit to become fully invested in Gemma’s story, however, because Keely was still such a presence in this book, and I knew her a bit better. But I did enjoy the fact that Gemma was distinctly her own character. She was much more wary and paranoid than her more trusting and accepting sister, something that I think works with her warrior’s background.

The romance also takes a back seat in this book. I enjoyed it well enough, but it was definitely not the most compelling part of the story. They had decent chemistry, but there wasn’t a lot of spark, more just a steady burn of comradery that turns into a relationship at one point. I like this kind of love arch, too, so I was ok with it. But, like I said, if you’re tuning in for a sparkling romance, this probably isn’t it. Instead, the story focuses much more heavily on the battles and political maneuvers that Keely and her force must employ to protect her queenship from the various other heirs who are still hoping to unseat her. These action-packed scenes were a blast, and the story really felt like it was on its most solid footing during these points.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Perhaps a bit more than the first, even, just because I knew a bit better what to expect from it. I was also pleased with Gemma as a new character, while also not having to give up my beloved Keely, which I took as a big win. Fans of this author and her work are sure to enjoy this one!

Rating 8: Light on the romance, but it compensates with a fast-moving, action-packed story.

Disaster consistently writes a beautiful fantasy world where anything is possible and nothing is off-limits and I love it!

I love this ridiculous series. It's so fluffy and funny and chaotic. This book was especially all over the place but man oh man do I love Gemma and the War Monks. Ainsley's book has to be next, right? Like there are more coming I hope because Beatrix needs to get hers. This was the perfect book for a warm afternoon outside on my porch. I didn't have to think too hard and could just get lost in the wonderful world of centaurs, demon wolves and war monks. Love it. 3.5 stars.

Many thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for the copy.

I was not disappoint this novel. I had a great time reading it. Ms. Aiken humor always have me laugh out loud and her images of gory detail of the battles are the best. I loved character growth, along with the twists and turns. The ending had made me screaming plus jump up and down ... it blew me away.

I'm on the edge waiting for the next book. This is a must read.

I'm new to the fantasy romance genre and was really hoping to love The Princess Knight as much as I did the first book. I think I will try this one again when I'm in more of a fantasy mood, it just didn't click for me at the moment. DNF for now.

THE PRINCESS KNIGHT is the second book in The Scarred Earth Saga and I was really excited about getting this book because I’m always a big fan of Aiken’s Fantasy series.

As you can expect, there’s a lot of hilarious banter and action. If you’re looking for something different and a little over-the-top, then I always recommend Aiken. She’s got an interesting set of characters that never fails to entertain me. You may need to exercise some patience though if you’re looking for fast-paced action and romance. However, I like that her books are written differently from the other Fantasy novels out there. You still get the same amount of Fantasy elements, but the pacing and presentation may just be a little different.

All in all, this book was enjoyable and I look forward to seeing more Fantasy novels from Aiken.

I loved seeing things from the War Monk's prospective. As usually bat shit crazy characters that make the book. It was adventurous, emotional and really freakin' hot in a couple of places.

Fantastic! Book 2 in this series was even better than book one of that's possible. If your looking for a fantasy read that has everything you love wrapped in one ~this is it! Queens, warlocks, witches on wait and a nun? Nothing I can say is more fun and exciting than reading this series. This book was a great second and I'm already looking forward to the third. A must read if recommend to all!

I love G.A. Aiken's writing! It's so tongue and cheek, laugh out loud funny. The world's that she creates are full of interesting and fun characters and I only wish the book had been longer.

In this story we follow Gemma, a war monk, sister of the Blacksmith Queen. She's sent on a mission to let the magical sects know they are being targeted and killed by a fanatic Prince. That's only part of the story. There's also a lot with Keeley, the Blacksmith Queen and what's going on in their lives now that the country has been divided by the feuding royals. This series is best read in order since there is an ongoing series arc and most of these characters were introduced in the previous series.

I am excited for the next book and I can't wait to see where the story goes from here.

I really enjoyed the first book, The Blacksmith Queen, so I was looking forward to this one and I was not disappointed. It's an exciting and humorous story with strong female characters that kept me hooked.

We follow Gemma and I really liked getting to know her. There's some fun banter which I appreciated. The world building was great and really brings it all alive.

A great sequel to The Blacksmith Queen! The Princess Knight follows Keeley's sister, Gemma, and is equally as hilarious and ridiculous as the first. While a third book hasn't been announced, I really hope we get a conclusion to this fantasy series (and see Beatrix fail miserably).

*I received an eARC and am leaving an honest review*

Thank you to Kensington Publishing and NetGalley for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I did not know that this was the second book in The Scarred Earth Saga series, but that didn't actually hinder my reading experience as much as I thought it would have as The Princess Knight follows Gemma and not Keeley (who the first book is The Blacksmith Queen). I will say that some parts of how Keeley was integrated into this book did confuse me slightly - but that is to be expected if I haven't read the first book.
I enjoyed the banter and humour and the strong female characters. I also liked how Gemma and her anger were portrayed.
The world-building is strong and I was able to immerse myself into the story, which is always a great sign.
This is definitely a great series for readers wanting to branch out into Adult Fantasy and need some recommendations.

I read the previous book to read this one, but, unfortunately, both just confirmed my doubts that the genre is not my jug of ale. Although there were some interesting background characters and small twists, the bickering of the MC group got too much for my taste to ever continue the series.

Gemma a Warmonk and now The Princess Knight, because her Sister Keeley who is now The Blacksmith Queen. Well, kind of, sort of the Queen. She is one of two that can be the new Queen. Her sister Beatrix is the other who can be Queen, one problem, she is soullessand therefore must be stopped at all cost. Even if they have to kill her. Beatrix is up to something  and they have no clue of what it is. Monks are coming up dead and thier whole orders decimated and any artifacts taken. Gemma is then paired up with the Amichais warriors, Quin of the Centaurs to be exact. Thier bannter between each other is laugh out loud funny sometimes. I could not get enough of them. At the end we get a little suprise when someone shows up. That is when shit is about to get real. I cannot wait until the next book in the series is released.

I give The Princess Knight 5/5 stars.

I loved the first book in this series and loved this one.
It's gripping, well written and highly entertaining. It made me laugh a lot and I loved the humor.
Excellent world building, great characters and a tightly knitted plot.
Can't wait to read the next book.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

This is the second book in the Blacksmith Queen Saga. This time we follow the second sister Gemma.

I do have to say I enjoyed reading from Gemmas perspective more than Keeley. While I enjoy reading G.A. AIkens romance it is nice that this book focuses more on the woman establishing the rule and Gemma being a badass War Monk is also super cool...I mean who doesn't love Necromancy
I am really excited about the fact that it opens up the story for more Dragon Kin books (One can hope) and last but not least it featured Aiken's hilarious humor that made me laugh out loud multiple times

I just really didn't enjoy this book as much as the first one - it might be because I listened to the first one on audiobook, but sadly I just found reading all the bickering annoying this time around, and I don't like Gemma's character nearly as much as Keeley's. It was still a fun read, it just didn't quite click for me.
