Her Every Move
By Kelly Irvin

For more than a year Jackie Santoro has lived under the cloud of her father's crimes. Crimes that have moved Jackie to the top of the list of suspects when a bomber targets San Antonio and the very people who accused him.

Detective Avery Wick has a feeling about Jackie but he needs evidence not just a gut feeling to remove her from the person of interest list. Though she is on his personal person of interest list. Regardless, someone has San Antonio in their sights.

As the clock runs down on the bomber's demands Jackie isn't about to wait around doing nothing. She's going to do everything she can to help the police discover who has targeted her city, clear her name, and get justice for those whom the bomber stole from her.

What she doesn't know is just how close the bomber is to his ultimate goal...

Her Every Move is another page-turner, ripped-from-the-headlines, unputdownable read from Kelly Irvin. Each new Romantic Suspense she releases is excellent reading. Yes, there are crimes but her work doesn't get into the gross-me-out graphic descriptions that some authors offer in abundance. (Which, I might add, I appreciate as I steer away from graphic anything.)

The cover teaser "The Clock Is Ticking And He's Closing In" is the perfect summary of this book. And throughout it does seem as if the bomber is targeting Jackie or she is in fact the perfect devious mind while carrying out revenge on the city and those who tried and convicted her father in the court of public opinion.

If you are unfamiliar with Kelly Irwin's Contemporary Suspense you should give this book a try as it complete in and of itself. If you are familiar with her work you won't be disappointed in this newest addition to her bookshelf .

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I offer my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

In this latest release, readers will be on their every move to finish this book! This book was suspense at its highest. Readers will also enjoy the romantic aspects to the book as well. I have always enjoyed her books, but this book seemed even more engaging and made the me want to sit and read until I reached the end. This book focuses on Jackie who police first believe had something to do with a deadly bombing in San Antonio even though she was present during the bombing. The detective, Avery, is trying to determine the truth to what occurred and who is really behind the bombing. As time goes forward, there are more worries regarding more bombs going off in the city. Together, Avery and Jackie must combine forces to figure out what is going on and how they can stop whoever it is. I highly recommend this book and know you will not be disappointed! If you enjoy highly engaging and suspenseful books, then this book is for you!
***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, this is my own opinion.

Her Every Move is a book that starts with a jump and doesn't let up. The story centers around Jackie, a librarian who is hosting a climate change seminar that is attacked by a serial bomber.. The after effects of this bombing sets of a chain of events that are fast paced.

Avery is a cop who wants to eliminate Jackie as a suspect but is having a hard time doing so. By her own admission, she had many opportunities to plant a bomb, so how can he rule her out? The suspect's friends are attending the event, her bosses don't get along with her...so many unanswered questions remain for him. However, Avery finds Jackie intriguing and wants to get to the root of the problem. If she's innocent, fine. If not, he's here to mete out justice.

The premise of the story was good, rooted in current events and passions. I didn't connect with the leads as much as I wanted to...I am not sure if it was lack of character development or the fact that the male lead seemed so unapproachable. I have read another of Irvin's work prior and for whatever reason, that connection for the characters was not there this time. Perhaps it's just a tricky time to read about things that are happening in our everyday world.

I think this book would be perfect for those who like a mystery that goes at a breakneck speed. If you're into fiction that echoes real life events, Her Every Move is for you.

I was an early reader, thanks to #NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Her Every Move by Kelly Irvin is a fast paced modern day Christian thriller. Jackie is in charge of the event where a bomb went off killing and injuring people. When threats are made towards certain officials Jackie and her family become suspect, despite having calls from an organization. Detective Wick is assigned to the case and questions if Jackie could be a suspect. He is there to help her and work toward finding the bomber.

This is a great stand alone story that starts out running and never stops. The suspense is intense and fast paced. The writing is so clear it is easy to feel the tension. This was one of those books that was very hard to put down as I was wanting to know who the real bomber was and why. I was surprised to know who the bomber was at the end of the story. I appreciate the faith the characters have as well as the growing friendship between the main characters.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Her Every Move starts with a bang... literally... and doesn't stop until the very end. In this new romantic suspense from Kelly Irvin, we meet Jackie Santoro as she is attending an event she had planned for the library where she works as a librarian and event coordinator. When a bomb goes off during the event, Detective Avery Wick suspects that Jackie herself may be the culprit. With the threat of more violence to come, she has to prove her innocence. What follows is an action packed story that will keep readers on the edge of their seats... with some great romance thrown in too, of course.

When I say this one started off with a bang, I really mean it. It was one of those moments that caught me as a reader off guard just as much as it caught the characters too. That unpredictability carried on throughout the story. What seemed like a quiet moment would suddenly change. It kept me guessing what might happen next and when. There was a lot of suspicion thrown in many directions, and just when you thought you had it figured out, something else would happen to clear your suspect. It truly kept me guessing all the way up to the big reveal... and a rather surprising one I must say.

I must admit that I didn't care for Avery's character at first... and honestly, even in the end he still wasn't my favorite romance novel hero... but he did come to grow on me anyway. I do almost wish I had a little more time to get to know him, but I enjoyed the romance nonetheless. I did find that it took more of a backseat in this story than some others in the genre, with the suspense really taking center stage.

I've yet to read a book by Kelly Irvin that I haven't enjoyed, and this was no exception. Fans of Christian romantic suspense are certainly going to want to check it out.

Kelly Irvin knows how to keep a reader on the edge of their seats. We're engaged very quickly when the first bomb explodes when we're not expecting it and the pace never lets up as a killer terrorises down town San Antonio. Unfortunately, and quite strangely Jackie Santoro gets caught in the bomber's web. Detective Avery Wick struggles to discover her innocence and Irvin does a great job keeping the reader guessing as to who the bomber is right until the end of the story.

Jackie's family has cause because of her Dad's past criminal associations and unfair treatment which led to him taking his life. Wick investigates each one of her family only to discover another suspect who has no connection to them.

It really is very entertaining and keeps the reader on their toes. Jackie and Wick realise they are drawn to each other even though they appear to be the most unlikely couple. But he's on a case and she's still a possible suspect or has information relevant to their case. If ever there was a conflict this is it. But does Wick need Jackie to actually help him solve the killer's identity?

I struggled with Wick not liking him for much of the story. But he grew on me. He is divorced and still friend's with his ex-wife. In some ways it was Chandra's perspective on her ex-husband that helped me get over my initial reservations. The relational aspects are very believable and the characters are well crafted.

The story ends surprisingly, I sure didn't see it coming, which made me appreciate it more.

Good fun suspense which kept me turning the pages.

I received an early ebook copy of the story from the publisher via NetGalley with no expectation of a favourable review.

In Her Every Move, author Kelly Irvin transports the reader to San Antonio, Texas for an intriguing Romantic Suspense story that will keep the reader guessing and turning the pages.

Jackie Santor is a librarian and adult collections coordinator in charge of planning programming and events for the library foundation at the Central Library.

Avery Wick is a Detective in the Homicide Unit of the San Antonio police department.

Jackie coordinated a political debate on climate-change for the library foundation, and when a bomb detonates after the debate, she becomes a person of interest because of her family's past. Her father, Sam Santoro was a San Antonio Development Service Department Inspector, who took his own life two years ago after being accused of taking bribes from developers and providing a shortcut to the permit process, and looking the other way when it came to inspections, violating city ordinances. He was fired and died before his case went to trial. The investigators considered her a person of interest in the bombing as a means to avenge her father's death against the city officials.

When an extremist organization claimed the bombing and warned the media that they would continue to bomb other prominent San Antonio places, and cripple it's tourism industry unless the local government officials step down, Jackie and Avery join forces to exonerate her, and find the bombers before more death and destruction can occur in San Antonio.

Author Kelly Irvin weaves a fast-paced and suspenseful tale written in the third person narrative that follows Jackie and Avery as they search for the bombers before more destruction and death befalls the citizens of San Antonio. The reader will be easily drawn into this action-packed and well written story with its richly descriptive plot that will keep them guessing as secrets, possible motives, and clues are uncovered during the search for the bombers. Just when you think you know who is behind the bombing, the author teases the reader with more possible suspects until the surprising ending.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention how much I loved the intertwining of a Christian themed story with intriguing suspense, and the angsty underlying attraction between Jackie and Avery, you can't help but hope that they find love amongst the craziness of the search.

Her Every Move has enough drama, tension, action, dark secrets, a touch of romance, and unexpected twists and turns that will take the reader on one heck of a thrilling roller coaster ride.

I really liked this thriller set in San Antonio about domestic terrorism. It's a romantic suspense in some ways but the romance is light, in my opinion. Jackie is a librarian who likes to push the envelope somewhat and sets up a climate change discussion at the library. A bomb goes off and therein begins a reign of terror as the bomber terrorizes San Antonio until his/her demands are met. Detective Avery Wick and a host of other law enforcement people are going to solve the case but they first focus on Jackie & her family members. Jackie is determined to prove them wrong, even though she happens to be involved with each bombing in some way - coincidence? I liked Jackie and Avery's back & forth personality together! They were adversarial and also friendly & romantic at times! It made for a good read. Then there was Avery's friend, Theo, who was super frustrating! He was so out of control and Avery did everything he could for the man! I wanted to shake him good!!! A great story that had me turning the pages faster and faster to see how it ended!

HER EVERY MOVE by Kelly Irvin is an edge-of-your-seat Christian romantic suspense by a new to me author that I could not put down.

A bomb goes off at a library sponsored climate change debate in San Antonio.

Jackie Santoro, librarian and event coordinator loses her best friend in the bombing and yet still becomes a prime suspect due to her family’s past. Detective Avery Wick has doubts about Jackie’s guilt, but he also cannot exonerate her.

As the bombings continue around the city, Jackie is forced to continue with the plans for the annual Caterina Ball which funds the cities’ libraries for the year. Avery and Jackie know this event could be the next target for the bomber and they must work together to unmask the bomber before the death toll rises even further.

I was completely wrapped up in the chase for the bomber. Ms. Irvin’s pacing and plot development kept me on the edge-of-my-seat as each twist and new suspect emerged. While the bomber was on my list of suspects, the ending was still handled well and was satisfying. Avery’s handling of his long-time friend’s mental health decline added not just suspense, but also empathy to the story.

I loved that the protagonist, Jackie Santoro is a librarian and all the references to her life-long love of books and libraries. She is a strong heroine protagonist who follows her beliefs and feelings in her personal life as well as her professional one. Avery Wick is a detective, who while hardened by his years of seeing the worst of humanity on his job still has empathy for others. Their relationship evolves over the investigation and chase for the bomber at a realistic pace. The secondary characters are fully fleshed and add to the depth of the story without being just placeholders.

This is a Christian romantic suspense so there are no sex scenes in this romance, but the romance between Jackie and Avery grows realistically throughout. This book did have more inclusion of religious beliefs and prayer than other Christian romantic suspense books I have read, but the inclusions are not gratuitous.

I recommend this book for an exciting romantic suspense read and I will be checking out more of this new-to-me author’s work.

RATING: 4.5 out of 5 Stars

Review copy was received from NetGalley. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I enjoyed the fast paced action with a slow burn romance in the background. Her Every Move had plenty of mystery with a broad range of investigations at a frantic pace to try to prevent further deaths. The world is richly built with a large cast of characters. Our main characters are Jackie and Avery.

Jackie works at the library and is an event planner for them. She is well read, knowledgeable about politics and news. Her family background has scandal and disfunction which makes her a remote suspect. She is a strong, compassionate woman with honesty and integrity to guide her. Her family of grandparents, mother, sister and brother are not as well developed. Her friend, Bella, who works at the newspaper is a little more clearly defined as part of the story with all these events and the investigation.

Avery is a homicide detective. He is about ten years older than Jackie and divorced. Avery is good at his work and devotes himself to it. He is fair and has pretty good instincts. We get a sense of his partner and co-workers and the other members of the task force, but they are not in the foreground. A more clear character is his ex-wife, who is a lawyer and becomes somewhat involved in representing a suspect, Mehrer.

There is lots of suspense and very little romance. I liked this quite a lot. I cared about Jackie and Avery, and others, not wanting them to be hurt. Jackie, her mother and Mehrer, all have TSTL moments resulting in life and death situations. After the initial bombing, why don't they understand how dangerous this killer is? In the end, Jackie and Avery solve the mystery of who and why.

Excerpt:

A steady stream of patrons stood and edged toward the center aisle. A low murmur swelled to the sound of hundreds of people all talking at once. Soon they’d be in front of Jackie, impeding her progress from the parking garage and on the narrow, one-way downtown streets of San Antonio.

“Great job, Jackie. Looks like your boss was wrong.” Sandoval’s constituent services director, Tony Guerra, sauntered up the aisle toward her. “Climate change opponents can coexist amicably in the same space. And so can city manager and city council staff.”

“Thanks, but it took a whole host of partners to make this happen. And it’s not over yet.” Jackie stuck her hand on the door lever that would release her to the Tobin’s massive lobby.

She liked Tony, which was a good thing since he’d asked Estrella to marry him. However, he wore his political ambitions like an obnoxious neon-pink tie.

“I have to go. I want to make sure there are no last-minute snags with the reception. Then it’s back to fine-tuning the altars for the Catrina Ball. It’s only a week away, and I’m behind because of the debate.”

“You never let up, do you? Are we still on for the Spurs game tomorrow—”

A powerful force knocked Jackie from her feet.

Her skull banged on the hardwood floor.

Sharp projectiles pelted her face in a painful ping-ping.

What’s happening?

Estrella? Tony? Bella?

Muffled screams and even her own moaning seemed strangely distant. “Estrella? Tony? Bella?”

If they answered, Jackie couldn’t hear them. She dragged herself onto her hands and knees. Glass and sharp metal pierced both. She forced open burning eyes.

Heavy black smoke shrouded the hall. Metal and debris like deadly confetti showered her. She raised her arm to her forehead to protect her face from the remnants of folding chairs and electronics.

Warm blood dripped from her nose. The acrid taste of smoke and fear collected in her mouth. Her stomach heaved. Her pulse pounded so hard dizziness threatened to overcome her.

No, no, no. Do not pass out. People need help.

Shrieking alarms bellowed.

Water, like torrential rain, poured from above. Rain, inside? Her ricocheting thoughts made no sense. Jackie shook her head. Neither the smoke nor the clanging in her brain subsided.

Sprinkler system.

The smoke had triggered the sprinklers.

Where there’s smoke there’s fire. The old cliché ran
circles in her mind like a children’s nursery rhyme.

Estrella’s mama and papa would never forgive Jackie if something happened to their sweet daughter. Mercedes and Mateo always saw Jackie as the instigator of trouble. And they were usually right.

Ignoring pain and panic, she crawled forward. Sharp metal bit into her skin. Where were her shoes?

Finally she encountered a warm, writhing body. “Tony?”

“What happened?” He struggled to sit up. Blood poured from an open wound on his scalp, his nose, and a cut on his lip. “I have to get to Estrella and Diego.”

He might have yelled, but Jackie could barely make out the words. She leaned back on her haunches. “You’re hurt. Does anything feel broken?”

“No, but I can’t hear anything.” He wiped at his face. Blood streaked his once crisply starched white shirt. “Why can’t I hear?”

“It’ll pass. We have to get everyone out.”

With a groan, Tony leaned over and vomited on the floor. He wiped his mouth with his sleeve. “Okay, let’s go.”

“Everyone out. If you can walk on your own, evacuate.” One of the contract security guards hired for the debate loomed over them. “The bomb squad is on the way. Go, go.”

“We’re fine. We’ll help get the others out.”

“Negative. Get out, there could be more bombs.”

Bombs.

Librarian and event coordinator Jackie Santoro is the suspect at her own event. She has planned this climate change event bringing in a full house. Then the deadly bomb detonates. Was her event just a front for the revenge she had planned?

A bomber is attacking San Antonio’s government officials during large events. Jackie, the female protagonist, is a well known librarian who happens to be the daughter of a man facing white collar crimes, that ended up committing suicide.
The detective on the case initially suspects that Jackie has something to do with the bombings to seek revenge over her father.
Through the course of events he becomes smitten with her and seems to not be able to set boundaries. Is Jackie the one who is bombing the tourist attraction spots? How can he find out and how will it end?

This is the first Christian suspense/mystery novel I have read. It was very refreshing to hear words like be blessed, and God be with you and prayer in a book where people had lost their lives. It rang true to me.

Her Every Move by Kelly Irvin, was a action packed book from the start. This was a new author for me, and I really enjoyed the book and the storyline. This was a hard book to put down once I finally got around to reading it. I will certainly be reading more books from this author. I would certainly recommend this book to others.

HER EVERY MOVE by Kelly Irvin

A librarian main character? I definitely want to read it. Together with Avery, a homicide detective, they try to uncover the real killer. This book doesn’t waste it’s time. After reading just a few pages, the first bomb explodes. The varying persons of interest have kept me turning page after page. So many unanswered questions. Lots of suspenseful events that made me put it down a couple of times. There are some vivid descriptions too of the explosion aftermath. I feel sad reading and thinking about it. It’s fiction but it feels real. Jackie and Avery have gone through so much and in their time together they felt some affection for each other. I like the waiting time they gave each other until things settle down. I think I knew who did it but changed it a couple times based on new updates. It’s a shock to know the truth. This book talks about politics, religion, race, culture, family and faith in God. When faced with multiple hardships in life, do you let your doubt seep in or continue to trust in His goodness? 3.8 stars

Reading is a gift. I read when I can’t sleep
I read when I’m sad. I read when I’m happy.
Reading gives me joy,
takes me places I’ve never been,
and I learn things.
What person wouldn’t want that gift?”
(Her Every Move, p. 343)

Though it opens a bit slowly, Her Every Move becomes a heart stopper as Jackie Santora, San Antonio Public Library librarian, and SAPD Detective Avery Wick stumble among the various suspects who may be placing bombs around the city. They have identified three or four, but could it be somebody who has not yet been named.

The book builds believable characters within a real-life setting (downtown San Antonio and the Alamo) to create a thrilling story that this reader could not put down. I now want to add San Antonio to my bucket list of places to visit.

Kelly Irwin has given us a faith-based thriller that explores the doubt that many live with when life gets tough without being preachy. It does not resolve those questions, but in a well-written story she allows the reader to explore those themes along with the book’s characters. I give the book four-stars.

Loved the fast pace and premise of this novel! The suspense kept me entertained and the plot was captivating. I found the chemistry lacking for the romance as I had a hard time fitting the two characters together romantically, but enjoyed them individually. Overall, a great read!

Loved this fast paced sit on the edge of your seat thriller!
I think in my opinion this is the best one yet!
Irvin has added the right amount of faith elements and I really enjoyed watching God at work here.
I loved that the characters were realistic and flawed. No one isn't perfect. Not even cops but I know that most do their best.
I think that my favorite thing was the guessing as to who dun it. I thought I had guessed correctly but even I was surprised at the end. It wasn't who I thought it was.
Lots of twists and turns that will have Irvin's fans screaming and shouting at Jackie and Wick (and a few others as well)./as they try to find out the reason behind the bombings.
Some of this story will have you sighing in relief too.
I have a few favorite scenes in this book as well but I won't say because I don't want to spoil the book.
Overall, a great book! I finished just a little while ago around 2:30 am. I was sad to see the book end.
I highly recommend!
My thanks to Thomas Nelson publishers for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review and all opinions are my own.
