Okay have to say since reading Jace by this author, Sasha Summers I have been anxiously waiting for Emmy Lou's story. Talk about music to the heart every time Emmy Lou sang it was like surreal seeing it come to life and capturing Brock again. There is a deep connection between them, one that not even her meddling mother cannot break even though she tries real hard to separate them. We see what they used to be like as friends and almost lovers then what they have become putting their love in the past. Sasha Summers did a beautiful job reuiniting them together in a way not even they saw coming. Loved that no matter how much Brock tries to deny the attraction it is all there even stronger than ever. Sasha Summer's not only shows us their love but what I loved the most was Emmy Lou seeing she has a problem and determined to fight it. Brock was perfect in helping her see she can be so much more than just a Country Singer but most of all his love is what makes her move forward to something she has been denying herself, true love. Not only do we see these two but we see more of Jace and Krystal and yes their mother is more troublesome and villainous than ever. Loved it and cannot wait for Sasha to see what she can do with Travis. Loved it.

"I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own."

I loved Jace’s book and Emmy Lou’s brought me right back to their world! I loved the story and the second chance romance. They worked hard and fought for their relationship. Really enjoyed this escape

After Reading Jace I was so excited for Emmy's story. As the chipper more positive twin I didn't want her to have heart break.

CiCi King is one of the most hated characters I have ever read.

My favorite part of this series is the banter and connection between the siblings.

"Loving you and believing you?" She laughed. "It is, so easy. You're my brother. And even though I worry that you're going to wind up with some horrible disease that will make your man parts rot off or you'll drink until your lover explodes, I love you dearly." (I can't wait for Travis's story)

As continue in this story we find out that CiCi is the biggest reason for any of the siblings pain. It is unbelievable that they have to deal with her but yet their family unit is tight because of the music industry they have to put up with her. But when will be enough that they send her packing.

I loved that Emmy is with her first love and that there love is so sweet. Well once they get over their hurt. They are perfect for one another I love them. Can't wait for more from this family,

A heart-warming reunion romance sprinkled with zingy banter, searing emotion, intense drama and red-hot chemistry, Song for a Cowboy is a spellbinding tale about two lost souls who find their way back to one another again that will have you falling madly in love with handsome and honorable Brock and cheering on Emmy Lou, who is an absolutely terrific heroine.

I kept putting reading this book off...not sure why. When I began to read I had the feeling it was perhaps not a good fit for me as it seemed "young adult" and I avoid them as they don't relate to me. As I kept reading I felt I had seen the plot before and though well written could not get into the story. I then read the end and decided not to invest more time in reading. I am sure there will be many who will enjoy this book but it was not the book for me...or...not the book for me, today. Thank you for the opportunity to read/review. Sorry it was not one I finished and hate to leave a review for books I do not read in detail so will DNF and wish this book great success. I have read and enjoyed other books by this author and look forward to reading more in the future.

Oh my heart!!! If you’re looking for a swoony second chance romance with all the feels, definitely give this one a chance! I recommend it for all those who love the slow burn style!

In My Own Words:

Song For A Cowboy by Sasha Summers is the second book in her Kings of Country series. Emmy Lou and Brock’s second chance romance can be read as a standalone.

Years ago, Emmy Lou King gave her heart to Brock Watson and he gave her his heart in return. They were the epitome of what fairy tales are written about, until an interference unbeknownst to them forces the two apart.

Now Emmy Lou is the voice and the face of the American Football League and a new charity, right alongside the man who still owns her heart. She’s the most sought after country voice in the industry, and being a part of this charity hits a special place in her heart, and when she sets her mind to something she gives it her all, ex-boyfriends be damned!

Brock walked away from everything he loved that fateful night, now seeing Emmy Lou again for the first time in years, brings back all the old feelings he buried so long ago and he’s dead set on keeping those feelings buried. After all, a wounded pride and bruised heart, doesn’t mend overnight.

My Thoughts:

The more I read in the Kings Of Country series, the more I want!! Sasha Summers continues to knock this series right out of the ballpark! I can’t get enough and If I was forced to pick a favorite book right now… It would be Emmy Lou and Brock’s story! What can I say, I’m a second chance romance kind of girl!

Emmy Lou has the most sought after voice in the country music industry, and that voice just landed her the opening intro for the American Football League! Emmy’s character ran away with my heart! I loved how she was this feisty ball of energy on stage but off stage she was just as sweet as a button! I loved her vibes throughout this novel, and I loved slowly watching her gain a backbone where her mother is concerned. My heart breaks for all the years Emmy and Brock could have had together had her mother stayed out of matters that did not concern her. I have grown to really despise her mother!

Brock also stole my heart with all his swoon and boy next door/gentleman vibes. I loved the approach Sasha Summers took on his character. There are so many sports novels in regards to second chance romances that have the hero becoming an egomaniac manwhore. It was a breath of fresh air to see Brock was the opposite of this. Now I’m not saying this man was a saint, you don’t become a recovering addict by being a saint. But what I am saying is in all the ways that mattered, Brock found a way to become a man his father and his aunt could be proud of. He was a man willing to help anyone in need, no matter if they burned him in the past or not.

Now I’ll explain why I rated this book a four star…. You see, the title threw me off a bit. I was thinking I’d go into this book and I’d experience a little more Cowboy action than what was in it. After reading the first book, Jace, it was mentioned that Brock was a football player. I was intrigued when I read the title for this novel. I was also excited because I love Cowboy romances. I guess what I’m trying to say is I wanted to see more of those Cowboy vibes from Brock.

Overall, I loved Emmy Lou and Brock’s story! I’m looking forward to seeing how the mother reacts to their happily ever after as the series continues. Speaking of the series continuing, I think I’m ready for Travis’ story now!

The Kings of Country series continues with the second title, Song for a Cowboy, and a second chance for two people still in love with each other to get another chance to get love right this time – but it’s not going to be easy, and they’re going to have to work hard to find their way to their happy ending this time around.

I adored Brock and Emmy Lou’s romance, and while you “could” read this one as a standalone, I’d still suggest starting with Jace to get the full dynamics of this country music family and the people who enter their lives. There are folks to love and cheer on, and one person, in particular, to loathe on sight – you’ll get the differences sorted out real fast.

There was a time when Emmy Lou and Brock seemed headed for a perfectly lovely future but that seemed not to be. Now, years later, they’re about to be together for a special event and will discover that some emotions, like love, never really go away especially when the love never died but was badly bruised along the way. Life apart has changed them somewhat, Brock’s certainly had his hands full during those years. Yet there is still that spark between them, and it’s up to them to follow their hearts or let the past or others get in the way of their happiness.

I easily fell back into this world full of believable people, situations that I could certainly see happening, and the love, devotion of the King family shines through as always. We’ll see familiar faces once again, get caught up with Jace and Krystal (Emmy Lou’s twin) a little bit, and watch as two people who really do belong together work their way back through potholes, speed bumps, and sharp turns on that road to happiness. I had fun here, and I don’t want to give much away. Although I will always dislike Cici, I just do not see a situation where I will tolerate that woman. There are certainly intriguing hints at what may be coming, and I’m definitely watching for those developments. In all, Song for a Cowboy settled in my heart and gave me a really good, emotional, satisfying second chance romance for two deserving people. Can’t ask for much more than that!

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Sourcebooks Casablanca via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

If you are like me and you love reading second chance romance stories, you will be captivated by this slow burn story involving a good looking football player and a sweet country singer.

I loved everything about this feel good, emotional story. Brock and Emmy were madly in love as teenagers, but they broke up over a misunderstanding. They are brought back together when they both volunteer for the same charity.

Brock and Emmy are so easy to like, but their story broke my heart and I wanted them to finally get the HEA they deserve. They are meant to be together and hopefully, this time, everything will work out. Unfortunately, people seem to continually get in the way. Brock and Emmy are perfect for each other but before they can have another chance at love, they have to sift through all the lies. There is an underlying sexual tension every time Brock and Emmy are together, but they still have lingering hurt feelings and are afraid to put themselves out there again.

Brock is totally swoony, he is charming and nice and an all around good guy. Even though he is one of the most successful players in the league, Brock has insecurities, which hold him back from showing his true feelings. What I loved most about Brock, is how protective he is of Emmy. He has always loved her and for him, there is no one else to compare with her.

Emmy and her family are famous country music stars but unfortunately, her family has a lot of dysfunction. Emmys biggest fault is that she is too sweet and trusting and because of that, she trusts the wrong people. Even though Brock broke her heart years ago, when Emmy sees him again, she can’t help what her heart feels.

This is a heartwarming story with witty dialogue and I especially loved all the banter between the three King siblings. They love to give each other a hard time, but they always have each other’s back.

This is the second book in the Kings of Country series and highly recommend this captivating story. My only disappointment was that the story ended so quickly.

A delectable contemporary romance that will make your heart sing, Sasha Summers’s Song for a Cowboy is a charming, emotional and heart-warming tale that should not be missed.

Emmy Lou King’s family name has long been synonymous with country music. Her entire clan are regarded as icons in the industry and it seemed only natural that Emmy Lou would follow in her family’s footsteps, so she is absolutely delighted when she is given the opportunity to sing the American Football League anthem and serve on one of the AFL’s drug charities. Emmy Lou cannot wait to show everyone just what she is made of, however, there is a catch: these new opportunities are going to end up propelling her straight into the path – and arms! – of the one man she had fallen head over heels in love with whom she has never quite managed to forget: Brock Watson…

Emmy Lou is not the slightest bit worried about bumping into Brock again. Sure, she has never loved anyone else, but she is positive that she can handle being in close proximity to him. However, when Emmy Lou claps eyes on him she quickly realizes that moving on and keeping things strictly platonic between them is going to prove far easier said than done – especially as Brock is still as devastatingly attractive as ever and makes her feel so many different emotions that she could write a million love songs! But Brock belongs to her past not her future. Her head knows that, but her heart does not seem to be so easily convinced!

Brock feels as if he has the weight of the entire world on his shoulders. With his father’s health declining, he’s juggling looking after the family ranch with the demands of being a professional athlete and his dedication to a charity that is immensely important to him. Brock doesn’t have time for anything else and a relationship is the last thing on his mind. But when Emmy Lou walks back into his life after six years, thinking about anything other than kissing her becomes next to impossible.

As the two of them find themselves spending more and more together, will Emmy Lou and Brock find the courage to give their love another chance? Or will they end up letting this second chance at happiness slip through their fingers?

A heart-warming reunion romance sprinkled with zingy banter, searing emotion, intense drama and red-hot chemistry, Song for a Cowboy is a spellbinding tale about two lost souls who find their way back to one another again that will have you falling madly in love with handsome and honorable Brock and cheering on Emmy Lou, who is an absolutely terrific heroine.

An absorbing contemporary romance about hope, new beginnings and healing from the past that will make readers laugh and cry, Sasha Summers’s Song for a Cowboy is a fun and feel-good tale you will thoroughly enjoy.

Thanks go to the publisher and Net-Galley for the complimentary copy of Song for a Cowboy by Sasha Summers. I voluntarily agreed to read and review this book prior to publication. My opinions are my own, and no one has influenced them.

Song for a Cowboy is a light-hearted western romance with endearing characters and an emotionally charged plot. The pacing pulled me in from the first page and kept me entranced until the last. Ms. Summers has really done her research of the music industry!

Emmy Lou King is an endearing heroine. Her issues are ones I’ve struggled with most of my life, so I really identified with her. Her insecurities pulled at my heartstrings. While she understands her mother has problems, she is still stuck in her, please my mom at all costs!

Brock Watson is a great hero with a lot of heart. While he has baggage, he doesn’t let it pull him down. I loved his back story as a drug addict and alcoholic since members of my family are also in recovery. That helped me bond with him right away. While his honor makes it impossible for him to tell Emmy Lou the truth at one point in the story, he doesn’t give up!

The romance between Emmy Lou and Brock is amazing. It’s not only a strong physical relationship, it’s also an extremely emotional connection. For me the closed-door sexual scenes were perfect and just as satisfying as detailed scenes are. I really wanted them to find their way back to each other.

If you enjoy contemporary western romances with great characters and a plot that has good depth, then you will love Song for a Cowboy as much as I did. This is the second book in the Kings of Country, and it’s as great as the first book, maybe even better. I can’t wait to read Travis’s story. Happy reading!

If you've read Jace, the first book in the Kings of Country series, you already know how complicated living in King family is. Krystal King and Jace do appear in this book too, but mostly it is about Emmy Lou, Krystal's twin, and her first and only love Brock Watson. Song for a Cowboy can be easily read as a standalone.

Emmy Lou has always be the sweet one, the little ray of sunshine in her family. She is the one who wears the lightest and brightest colours and will smile her way through the Kings concerts, even though she may have a sprained ankle and a broken heart. She has been in the country music business since her early childhood and has an utmost respect for her fans. She is known for her professionalism and her discipline, but do they come at expense of her own personal happiness? Emmy Lou trusts people around her to be honest and have her best interests at heart. Perhaps, she needs to learn to be more independent and more cautious of people who are trying to manipulate her.

Her high school sweetheart Brock Watson is one of the best professional football players in their hometown team. Straightaway we get the feel that they got separated due to a misunderstanding. Brock has been through a rough period of his life and would like to give back to his community through working for a charity. Emmy Lou is also involved in this charity's project and the star-crossed lovers are thrown back together in each others' lives. This is a sweet second chance story where the characters have to work through their family issues and learn to communicate with each other.

The three King siblings are wonderfully close and I really enjoyed their banter. I loved the way they would come to each other's defence and stick up for each other through thick and thin. There are some wonderful secondary characters in this book, including Brock's Aunt Mo and Emmy Lou's bodyguard Sawyer who may have a few secrets of his own. They are in total contrast to CiCi King, Emmy Lou's mother, who any reader would find it difficult not to hate.

If you enjoy second chance love stories, country music, strong, reliable characters who know how to keep their word, despite being caught in crazy family drama and lovely, supportive relationships between siblings, you are going to love Song For a Cowboy.

A family filled with secrets, success and drama galore! With book two in her Kings of Country series Sasha Summers delights her readers with the second King sibling's story in SONG FOR A COWBOY and it's guaranteed to nab your attention quickly. I'm looking forward to more in the series!

Emmy Lou is a sweetheart. Sometimes too much of one ... mainly when it comes to her manipulative Mamma who she let's get away with just about anything.

Brock was easy to like and learning the details of their history together made for a fulfilling reunion.

I recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who likes a close knit family who share ups and downs along the road towards happily ever after for each sibling.

Song for a Cowboy enthralled me, intrigued me, and kept me wanting more. Emmy Lou King is just one component of the King family dynasty. She has the chance to do a solo gig to support one of the AFL;s anti-drug charity. Unfortunately, the gig involves working with her ex-boyfriend, Brock Watson, a football player for the Houston Roughnecks. His abrupt end to their relationship six years ago left her broken, still broken, and but she's sure seeing him won't be an issue.

Emmy Lou King is the one who got away. Scratch that, she's the one who left him a broken man. He has too much to worry about between playing football, supporting his dad and aunt, and running the ranch, but then she appears. Emmy Lou King, the one person he would still do anything for, despite their past. Roadblock after roadblock continue to be tossed in front of them, preventing their happily-every-after. He doubts this opportunity will be any different.

The book is about two broken souls, each with their own stories over the past 6 years, each with the same question of why?, and each reunited for a good cause. Two people who still feel the same love toward each other, the same pull, the same everything. Emmy Lou and Brock's pasts collide in a drama-filled contemporary romance complete with laughter, tears, and longing. So much pain, so much heartache, and so many lies. Not between each other, but spouted by others. Controlling and manipulative people, who claim to be protecting, providing safety, helping, all in the name of love.

The author wrote realistic characters in Emmy Lou and Brock. The connection between them was intense, fierce, and magnetic. The chemistry when they were together on the pages was electric and easily felt by the reader. My heart ached for Emmy Lou and Brock. They traversed the past six years without each other, but clearly missing one another.

The banter of Emmy Lou's siblings brought another level of enjoyment to the story. Brock's immense respect and love for his father and aunt jumped off the pages. Sawyer intrigued me, Emmy Lou's father wasn't as strong as I thought he should be, and Emmy Lou's mother was a horrible, horrible woman. The wrap up of the past was done a little to neatly but overall the story is fantastic and I devoured the book. I'll have to go back and read book 1 and look forward to reading book 2.

Thanks to Sourcebooks Casa for the digital arc of this title.

One sentence review: Second chance romance between a football player and country singer with a solid story if you can get past how toxic Emmy's mother is.

Song for a Cowboy by Sasha Summers is book two of the series. I really enjoyed the first book in this series Jace. This one I enjoyed but not quite as much. The book is a solid love story about two high school sweethearts whose relationship broke up prematurely (purposefully vague so as to not spoil). The heroine is Emmy Lou King, famous country singer in a group with her brother and sister. The hero is Brock Watson a football player on rehab from an injury. The meet each other again after years apart when Emmy starts working with the football league.

I liked the two main characters in this book and love Emmy's siblings. What really frustrated my though is Emmy's mom and dad. Her mom is so toxic and I just cannot understand how her husband allows her to continue victimizing her kids the way she does.

Song for a a Cowboy by Sasha Summers
2nd book in the Kings of Country series. Contemporary romance. Can be read as a stand-alone but the sister does appear in a lot of this story so if spoilers bother you, you’d want to read Jace first. You don’t even have to like country music. But it wouldn’t hurt. Original music included in this book and the prior.

This book is Emmy Lou and Brock’s story. Sweet and sappy and so good.
Emmy Lou is a singer with millions of fans. She used to being in the spotlight. Brock is a famous football player recuperating from an injury that’s put him on the sidelines temporarily. Emmy and Brock have been avoiding each other for years. Their attraction is strong and now that they are working together for a charity the combustion is hot and unavoidable.

There are other family dynamics throughout the story including brother Travis who has maybe drinking and confidence issues, brooding bodyguard Sawyer who may be related and sadly, quasi evil and manipulative Cici. Jace and Krystal travel with the family singing group as well and bring the happy romance feel to the group.
I didn’t like Vanessa at all. Until she stepped up.

Happy tears for me. Sentimental today I guess. OMG, the ending. So perfect.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy of this to share.

This is the second book in a series, and while I was able to understand what was going on, I would recommend starting from the beginning.
This is a second chance romance packed with angst and family drama. Y'all know I love me some angst but a lot of it here was based on not communicating. These two don't talk about the past or what went wrong with them but are so enamored with the other that they just let bygones be bygones?
Sure....... let's go with that. After the 50% mark it just became frustrating as a reader and a bit hard to believe. There's also no confrontation with the mother which I was waiting on but never got. Oh well perhaps the next one.
Besides the big miscommunication and misunderstanding, this was a quick and enjoyable read for me. (Clearly since I read it in a day!) It reminded me a little bit of the movie Country Strong and the character relationships in Before We Were Strangers by Brenda Novak. I liked the dynamic between the siblings. Brock and Emmy Lou were too cute. I loved how they melted around each other.
The characters are fun and the romance is sweet to the core. If you're into angst, family drama and country music you'll enjoy this.

Emma Lou King has found fame and fortune in the country music world, and has everything she could ever want...well almost. The one thing she is missing is love, and that can only come from the boy that stole her heart years ago in high school. But Brock is also the boy who broke her heart when he walked away from her, citing it was for the best. But was it?

When their jobs bring them back into one another lives again it's evident there is a lot of unresolved feelings there as well as love too... but can their hearts withstand a second round?

Song for a Cowboy is a wonderfully penned second chance love story filled with everything necessary to have your heart skipping a beat the whole way through! The moment these two wandered back into one another lives it was evident that there was something still there, but both were hesitant to embrace it. The last time they followed their hearts it lead to heartbreak and hateful feelings, and they aren't so sure they can fix what they broke a long time ago. But with each interaction they have it's evident those feelings they have are not going away, but neither is Emma Lou's meddling family. I loved watching these two fall for one another all over again, there were many ups and downs for them, and many moments I thought her terrible mother would get her way... but I held out hope for that happily ever after. And I was not disappointed! This was such a wonderful first time read for me, the words held my interest intently the whole way through and the characters completely stole my heart. Highly recommend!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

So glad to be back with the Kings!

I'm a huge country music fan, so this story checks all my boxes. I love how sweet and compassionate Emmy is, even when she has to deal with Brock - the man who broke her heart.

Brock is equally heartbroken by Emmy's rejection of him, and his life during the years they were separated was anything but easy. Still, his honor remained and he was a wonderful partner for Emmy.

I adored the family dynamics between the siblings and their father, and I am absolutely loving the slow-burn reveal of Sawyer's secrets to everyone concerned. I love the way the author brings these people to life so effortlessly, making it feel like we're really in the midst of country music royalty.

The HEA was simply beautiful, everything I could hope for. This story left me smiling for days. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

It is not difficult to love the King family, well, most of them anyway. We met them in the first book of the series, Jace, where daughter Krystal fell in love. Now we have Emmy Lou's story. Her story is quite touching because she fell in love with professional football player Brock Watson years ago and they had a difficult breakup. This breakup caused more pain than either of them realized.

But, more about the King family. They are the country's heart when it comes to a family band. Their fame is unparalleled and no end seems in sight. Part of this is because the mother of the family, CiCi King, will do anything to protect her family. The family consists of Hank, the father, Krystal, Travis and Emmy Lou. We will see in this story the lengths that CiCi goes to to protect Emmy Lou.

At some point Emmy Lou and Brock's past converge. They have both been asked to serve on the same charity together - to help teens stay away from drugs. This includes a lot of appearances at the same time - so much so that they are soon deemed "Bremmy" by the press and tabloids. The term proves to more than fitting because it soon becomes apparent that the feelings that Brock and Emmy Lou had for each other years previously burn hotter than ever now

However, there are roadblocks in their way and it is these very roadblocks that might not give these two a chance for everlasting love. However, the story does not just deal with the tender affections of the heart. The book also deals with the effect of healing from being an addict, eating disorders and Alzheimer's. Sasha Summers does a fantastic job handling each of these situations with good care, all while developing a remarkable story.

I really am enjoying this series by Sasha Summers. The first book in this series, Jace, was also very enjoyable and I do look forward to reading the next book, which will undoubtedly be Travis's story. I also hope that Emmy Lou's bodyguard, Sawyer, gets his story as well.

Many thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Song for a Cowboy is the second book in Sasha Summers Kings of Country and definitely not meant to be read as a standalone. While this story revolves around Brock and Emmy-Lou, the foundation of the series is set in book one Jace, and you should absolutely start there to truly appreciate the family dynamics, characters such as Jace and Krystal and the wonderful banter between the siblings that adds moments of light-hearted humour. These are both thoroughly engaging stories, and you won’t regret reading them both, as they are well-written with strong and engaging characters and easy to follow storylines and plots. I’m only hoping that Ms Summers has plans for other members of the family to tell their stories too.
