This is a thoroughly enjoyable read on words and phrases in our language, most specifically within Australia. Much of what is written is about the ever changing aspect of language and how the misuse often becomes the normal part of language. The writer is mostly accepting of the change but there are some areas where she laments the changes that occur, making completely mistaken usages become a common part of the language. There's also quite a lot of background to common usage and one that was most interesting is the origins of the term bogan. I was also surprised to discover how recently it came into common usage.

I recommend this highly for anyone interested in language, be it used correctly or incorrectly. It's a fascinating read and provides much entertainment.

Overall I give this four stars.

Thank you to Netgalley and Pan MacMillan Australia for sharing an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
