I am reviewing a copy of Praying the Heart of God through Barbour Books and Netgalley:

In this devotional we are reminded that God has not His Words so they can gather dust, either on a book shelf or in the back of our minds. He has written instead to let us know that he is not standing in the wings of your life, hoping things turn out well for you, but he is standing there in the thick of it. We are reminded too that God is speaking to us all the time.

This book reminds us too of God’s goodness as well as he is his strength and shield. We are reminded too that God listens to us and that he knows our needs.

Praying the Heart of God reminds us too that we need to have a confidence in God. And we are reminded too that God thinks we are worth fighting for. It is also pointed out that God sees us a treasure, and that God wants to take us under his wings.

This book reminds us too of the importance of prayer, as well as the power of surrender. We are reminded too that the journey we take in Faith is one taken in stages.

It is reminded too that God sends us dreams and visions. And we are reminded that through God we can find the confidence to conquer the struggles we face. We are reminded too of the need to truly seek him, as well as of the importance of walking in his way.

Praying the Heart of God reminds us too that we have have Hope in God. We are reminded too that God is our strength. We are reminded too of having a firm foundation in our faith. We are reminded too that God takes us just as we are.

I found Praying the Heart of God to be an encouraging and insightful daily devotional will give you the tools you need to align your heart and everyday prayers with God’s Word. Each one of the 365 days of scripture offers wisdom and insight.

I give Praying the Heart of God, five out of five stars!

I love the layout of this book! In a world where it is so hard to stay regimented on a plan to read my Bible and study the word of God, this book really lays it out in such an un-intimidating way and makes it feel do-able! Thank you to NetGalley and Barbour Books for a copy of this book for an honest review.

This devotion has given me the tools to line up my heart and mind with Gods word. Each devotion is accompanied by Scripture and a prayer which allows for reflection during your day. I enjoy devotions that stay with me and continue to remind me of God in my everyday activities.

It is suggested you start your devotion time with prayer which is how I start, but sometimes I will also play a song before prayer but the book didn’t mention that so I did. Teehee

Next step would be to open this book and turn to the day for your Scripture reading. Bring to mind what God is saying to YOU. Then move on to the prayer as you move into your day watch for God in your everyday ordinary activities.

These mini devotions were a blessing to me and still are. As a reader if you are looking to spend 15-30 mins with the Lord read this book. A Galley copy of this book was given to me in exchange for my honest and thoughtful review.

PRAYING THE HEART OF GOD was sent to me by Net Galley, free of charge, in exchange for my honest review.
Barbour Books, an imprint of Barbour Publishing, published this little prayer book. Donna K. Maltese wrote PRAYING THE HEART OF GOD – CONNECTING THE BIBLE TO YOUR DAILY PRAYERS.
There are 365 daily readings. Donna Maltese admonishes to begin each quiet time with a prayer, “Speak, Lord, Your servant is listening.” Then, read the assigned chapters for the day (to read through the Bible in a year). After that, there are several selected verses to meditate on. The author says to read them and then close your eyes to meditate on them. She underlined several key words, phrases, and sentences to focus on. She says to recite them, and spend some time in God’s presence, allowing Him to permeate Your mind with His will for this day. Lastly, you can open your eyes and read the short prayer to Him.
Each evening, the author tells us to reach back to our morning quiet time and remember/consider what the Lord taught you this day.
At the end of the book, as always with Barbour Books devotionals, included is a Scripture Index, showing the Scriptures used on each day.
I actually found it refreshing that there was no devotion – only Scripture and prayers. I believe it allows us to focus on God, His Word, and what He wants to teach us.
I would definitely recommend this prayer book for use in quiet times. I also believe it would make an awesome gift.

I love all devotionals, but this one was very special. Touched me in many ways. I will be gifting this for the Holidays. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest thoughts. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on this review.

Beautiful and colorful devotional with 365 reading prompts, scripture, and prayers. Makes it easy to pray the heart of God and use scripture to guide your prayers. Each day is themed as well and since it isn't dated, can be started at any time of the year. Highly recommended.

An absolute treasure! Donna K. Maltese has written a beautiful book to be used a tool to guide your heart to connect to the Bible, each and every day. There are 365 readings to provide a directed approach to praying the Heart of God. I love the point she opens with; the Bible is not meant to gather dust on your shelf or in your mind. If you don’t open the Book, you will miss the richness and blessings He freely offers. The book offers a How to Use This Book guide, which is very helpful to ensure you receive the full benefits. Each day there are readings from the OT, the NT and Psalms and then an offered prayer. I personally love the directive to focus on the underlined words and allow them to draw you into God’s presence. The messages are not forced, but rather guided and offered and you receive exactly what Gad has specifically for you. Highly recommended for any woman wanting to press into a deeper relationship with the Lord. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own and freely given.
