Both Prue and Madi can use a change of scene so they swap houses- with Madi moving to Prue's village to recover from cancer and Prue to London to recover from humiliation. Both women find that there's more to life than they expected when they do this, with both of them learning something not only about each other but themselves. Unfortunately, though Madi has a stalker. Not a terribly dangerous one (or is it?). This is told from all three of their POVs. It's not a thriller, per se, although the stalking does add a bit of tension to what is otherwise a nice tale of two women. Don't get me wrong, though, - it's a good read. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

This book is about Prue and Madi. Two women in who need a break from their respective lives and decide to home swop in order to get a break. Prue lives in a small village and Madi lives in London. This story is told from Prue and Madi's points of view, with a little extra point of view added in, which gives us the suspense angle we all love! Very fun read and I would recommend this book.

Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for allowing me an ARC of this book.

I loved the characters and the warm vibe of the story. “Warm vibe” may surprise you, as this story is billed as a psychological mystery thriller. If you are in the mood for well-drawn and real characters that you will get to know inside and out, and truly care about, plus cozy country scenes and views of London- I highly recommend this book.

If you are looking for a psychological thriller, the mystery part of the book is intriguing but tame, and not nearly as entertaining as the lives of Madi, Prue and the people they meet. Madalyn Cardew is a fun and fabulous character. She is in her sixties, has had a successful stage career and lives in a nice flat in London. Due to a health challenge and some unsettling events, she decides to swap places with Prue, who lives in a cottage in the small village of Shelling, Norwich. Prue is young and sheltered and when a romantic episode blows up, she moves to Madi’s flat. Apparently, there’s an app for home swappers!

How do the city mouse and the country mouse fair? Quite well. Madi is a poised and confident woman and easily makes friends with Prue’s Mom, and the nice older man next door and various village folk, including the owner of the general store. She participates in village life and begins to feel better and more optimistic. Prue, a pleasant young woman, also has a positive experience in London. She makes friends with a young guy in her building, takes photos all over London and may even have found a beau who is handsome and passionate.

The story is told in the third person, and the chapters alternate between Madi and Prue. I liked each character equally, and I was invested in their lives and situations, so I didn’t mind the switching of viewpoints- each chapter was lovely.
Now about the mystery- someone is stalking Madi and the stalker’s thoughts are included throughout the story. The mystery of who the stalker is and why she hates Madi makes sense, but for me, it was not the highlight of the book.

This book was hard for me to put down- a delightful read. Thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK One More Chapter for a digital advance review copy. This is my honest review.

This is my favorite genre to read, so I was anticipating this book. However, it fell flat for me. There wasn't as much tension or suspense as I generally see with this genre. There were a few unexpected twists, and I liked the fact that the story was told from multiple POVs.

I loved this book!! Reminiscent of Beth O'Leary's The Switch which I absolutely adored but with higher stakes and a stalker. I absolutely loved all of the characters (especially Madi who stole my heart) and the depth/character given to the side characters was really well done. Feels weird to say, but a feel good genuinely enjoyable book that I had to put everything else on hold to read. Very highly recommend !!!

Ooh just what I needed a good old fashioned psychological thriller with added bells and whistles. There is so much animosity in this tale and the person I thought was responsible was not. Was I floored, you bet . Beautifully crafted and spooled out so you think you know when really you haven't got a clue! With thanks to #NetGalley and #HarperCollins #OneMoreChapter

Not really a mystery book. Two completely different women do a houseswap for a month, to get away from their own situations . Seemingly both find something in the others home which is missing in their own lives/surroundings . The story is told in alternating chapters so that you get to know the two women quite well, hearing about their lives from other people that the swapper comes into contact with. This part of the book was OK, but lasted a bit too long for me, going into unnecessary detail and parts seemed a little naive in this day and age .
The other voice in the story is some one with a grudge against Madi (the swapper from London) , You think you know who it is fairly early on so I was impatient to read how the crime happened, which may explain the feeling that the story dragged on for me. Altogether a good read though not the exciting crime story I had expected from the preview.

Two strangers, a house swap, mysterious happenings and Be Careful What You Wish For by Vivien Brown is born. This was a fun and easy read but full of humor and just enough mystery to keep my interest.

As the story unfolds Brown artfully reveals details at just the right pace to allow the reader to try to start to figure out the direction the story is taking but yet - there are still a lot of unanswered questions.

I loved the characters in this novel and the way that the author kept readers involved by the slow reveal, the interjection of chapters by the "mystery person" and the mystery that surrounded each of the main characters.

Thanks to NetGalley and the author and publisher for providing a free ebook for my honest review. I loved it and will look for more books by this author.

Former actress Madi needs to escape from her lonely London life. She’s started to forget things and has the strongest sense she is being watched…

Very fast paced book. With a lot of twist and turns!
Enjoyed the plot and storyline in this book.
Great read for this fall!

2 complete strangers, in need of a break from their lives (each for their own reasons), trade their houses for a month. After being publicly humiliated by her ex-fiancé, photographer Prue leaves her Norfolk cottage for London. Semi-known actress Madi recovers from cancer in the rural village of Shelling.
What neither woman knows is that Madi has a stalker who comes in her room at night and moves things around, what makes Madi question her own mind. This stalker bears a grudge against her and doesn’t like it that the young woman has taken her place. He/she doesn’t appear to be very violent at first but is clearly unstable and might evolve in that direction.
Although they’ve never met, a 40 years age-gap, totally different backgrounds, and lives the women get to know more about the other by living in their house and meeting their friends and families. They start liking the other woman better as they get immersed in their lives; especially when they also get involved with the neighbours and communities. Both women seem to have a great time.
But in the background, there’s always that unnamed stalker lurking. Little by little you also learn more about that person, but it might still be a bit of a surprise when you find out the identity.

This is marketed as a psychological thriller, but that would be the ‘light’ version in my opinion. The stalker sees to the suspense element and intervenes regularly with his/her thoughts between the alternating chapters of Prue and Madi. It’s a very cosy and warm story. Even in the big, anonymous London, the writer finds warmth and people connecting with each other for the greater good. There’s also romance involved. But I wouldn’t call it a cosy mystery as there’s no investigating involved nor is it romantic suspense as most of that action is far off-screen. A bit of all 3, I guess. It was a bit out of my usual genre but I did enjoy it.
It was an endearing book with very likeable characters, even the ‘bad’ ones were more tragic than evil. The story focuses on the importance of family and friends in our lives. How differences and arguments can be overcome and that we all need others in our lives. Prue’s mother can be a bit interfering and the small village may feel claustrophobic at times but when she’s all on her own in London where she knows no-one and days go by without talking to anyone, she soon starts feeling lonely. While Madi has the reverse experience in the welcoming community. And of course, I love Flo the elderly cat.
Some elements of this book are pure nostalgia for me. Do you remember button boxes? I remember playing with all those beautiful buttons from old garments that got collected over the generations. My mother had one as well, but my gran's was so much prettier. Who was told as well to wear decent underwear at all times in case you would be in an accident?
I was surprised to learn that England still has Saturday postal delivery. Good for you! I can’t even remember when they stopped doing that in Belgium. And now there’s even talk of delivering the mail only 3 days a week and concentrating more and more on parcels.
I thank NetGalley and One More Chapter for the free ARC they provided for me; this is my honest and unbiased review of it.

This is not generally the type of book I read as although there is a crime involved it largely is about relationships. However, I did enjoy it.

The story is based around 2 main characters who as strangers house swap for a month. Both characters have had troubling life events which makes them want to "get away" from their life for a while. Prue is a 24 year old photographer from the countryside who has recently broken up with a boyfriend under embarrassing circumstances. Madi is a 62 year old actress and a recent survivor of breast cancer living in a flat in London.

It is good to see how the change in their lifestyle and their respective insecurities are handled by the author and the way you can relate to them and what they are experiencing. They each meet neighbours who have a telling and lasting influence on them and as a reader you really like these characters who are integral to the story as a whole.

Running through the story is the "voice" of the perpetrator of the crime. I thought I knew who it was but I got it wrong although the reason for the crime is apparent. I would class this book more as general fiction rather than a crime novel but nevertheless it was wholly enjoyable and draws the reader in.

I highly recommend this book especially for people who like cozy mysteries.

Unfortunately for me this book did not deliver. It is a slow burner to start with and so it was a struggle to carry on with it. It wasn’t as gripping as I’d have liked it to be- it is more of a mystery than a thriller.

I really enjoyed this book about two women Madi and Prue who meet online on a house swap site. Both women are looking for a break and decide to change houses for a month.
This book was teaming with great characters and I was hooked from the beginning and didn’t want to put it down.
In my option it was a feel good story despite the fact there was a mysterious vengeful character waiting in the background for the right moment to make their move.

I was really bored with this book. I really struggled to read it. It just wasn't for me. I felt it was very slow.

I really enjoyed this mystery novel, depicting the stories of two very different women, each at her own crossroads. There is a villainous third party lurking in the shadows as well. Highly recommended!

Madi and Pru are two very different women looking for a change. Madi goes to the village of Norfolk while Pru visits Madi's home in London. As we read, we begin to discover why the women would like a change for a little while. We also see a stalker visiting one of the houses without the guest knowing. Who is stalking who? Why? It all wraps up in the end and it was a very satisfying read. It wasn't as much of a thriller as I normally like but, it was a good book, held my attention and very enjoyable.
