When I pick up books categorized as romance I want a romance, not a little sprinkled in. That’s where this one missed the Mark for me.

This book felt more like self discovery journey for our main character Mia than it did a romance. And that’s okay, it just wasn’t what I expected or wanted going in.

This one was light on the romance side of things. It focused more on Mia's hunt for her family's background in dancing and dancing itself. Mia and Louis are with each other during parts of the book and he helps her on her search but I just didn't feel any chemistry between them. I did enjoy the setting in France and got a glimpse of life there. This book would really appeal to readers that are fans of ballet because the terms are used throughout and Mia's experiences with the elite ballet program are detailed.

Kisses and Croissants is the perfect book to read when you need a little escape to Paris. This book is sweet and romantic filled with scenes to make you swoon and adventures around Paris. Mia was such a unique character because of her passion and determination for ballet. It’s been awhile since I’ve read a book with a MC that felt so true and authentic. If you liked Love and Gelato or Anna and the French Kiss than this is the book for you.

After marathoning through Emily in Paris on Netflix, my heart had been craving for something equally lighthearted and fun. 💘

Kisses and Croissants spoke to my wanderlust heart and had me dreaming of dancing under the moonlight and strolling through the streets of Paris. ✨ While I found the romantic tropes and general plotline to be fairly predictable, this book brought me comfort with its simplicity and wishfulness.

Sixteen-year-old Mia dreams of becoming a professional ballerina, and when she’s accepted into the Paris Opera Ballet’s prestigious summer program, Mia has only six weeks to land an audition with one of the world’s top companies. 💫

As an American girl who’s whisked off to spend her summer in Paris, she’s faced with cutthroat competition and the harsh expectations of the dance world. There’s no room for distractions, but it just so happens that Louis, a charming French boy, may be the biggest one.

As someone who grew up heavily involved in the ballet world, Mia’s experience with the Paris Opera Ballet’s summer program was SO FUN to read about. 😍 I’ve spent hours a week practicing in the studio and summers at similar programs such as with the American Ballet Theater.

From small details such as the level system of how dancers are grouped to the descriptions of everyone preparing for Swan Lake, I became incredibly nostalgic for my dance days. I also loved watching Mia form stronger female friendships throughout the summer.

My biggest gripe with the book was that it’s extremely predictable, from the romance between Mia and Louis to the dramatic plot twist ending. 🧀 If you pick up this book, expect Lifetime movie levels of cliche.

If you’ve read my Anna and the French Kiss review, you’d know how much I HATED that book. Kisses and Croissants is the more sophisticated and fun version that I would recommend instead. For fans of Dance Academy and Emily in Paris, this is the book for you! 😘

I wanted a book that would take me away for a while, and this book really makes you feel like you're in Paris! I thought it would be a light read about a ballerina who falls in love during a summer intensive in Paris, but this book was very serious at times. I didn't love what happened towards the end, but it was still a good read!

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. A friendship/romance storyline set in Paris, yes, please! Kisses and Croissants proved to be a charming quick story that left me wanting to travel to Paris immediately. It was exactly what I needed at this time as I got sucked into the story and escaped through the beautiful imagery of the city. I will be picking up my own copy when it gets published!

As soon as I saw the title and cover of this book, I knew I had to read it! The cover is adorable and I'm obsessed with all things french so a cute YA romance set in Paris sounded absolutely perfect.
I'm so happy to say that Kisses and Croissants lived up to all of my expectations! It was such a fun, heartwarming read that would be perfect for fans of Love and Gelato.
Getting exposure to the world of ballet through the lens of the enchanting city of Paris was a piece of the story that I really enjoyed. Mia's passion was so inspiring but I also liked that she was willing to learn and grow along her journey.
This is a perfect escapist, summer romance!

Kisses and Croissants was a charming and fun read that was exactly what I needed in this time.

The book follows Mia, an aspiring ballerina, who heads to Paris for an exclusive summer dance program. She also hopes to find out if the family legend that the famous painter, Edgar Degas, painted her anscestor at the Paris Opera is true. She also starts a romance with Louis, who happens to be the son of the director of her dance program.

This book reads like a love letter to Paris. The descriptions of the Parisian museums and landmarks transported me there. I could practically taste the buttery croissants that Mia was eating. I have been missing traveling as I've been stuck inside for the past several months, so this "trip" to Paris was very appreciated.

Kisses and Croissants was a quick and easy read. The writing was vivid and descriptive and made me want to keep reading. Mia was a very likable main character, and I respected that she tried to find a balance between wanting to follow her dreams of being a ballerina and having a social life. I really felt like I was with her on her journey the whole way through.

I highly recommend picking up this book and a croissant to eat while you read.

A light romance with a French boy and an American ballet student with a touch of a mystery to discover if a relative was a subject of one of Degas' works. Mia is full of passion for ballet but finds the need to balance that with life ie. Louis and friends. Loved the realistic characters and their relationships. A fun and pretty clean read..

Kisses and Croissants 4.5 ⭐️

I like that I learn about ballet, something that I never thought I would read something related to. I never thought how hard and persistent ballet can be. Reading this book I put my french into practice lol :) I really like the idea of bilingual conversation and the swift back and ford of french words. The journeys and adventures around Paris were magnificent, lovely. it makes me more intrigued to visit Paris so badly! Even though I would like to know more about Louis but I can’t lie that I loved how cute his relationship with Mia is and his charisma. Lastly, I love the character development between Mia and Audrey from enemies to best friends.

Thanks, NetGalley for letting me read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I found this book lovely, from the moment Mia walks into the Ballet Studio in Paris I felt inspired and engaged in an adventure. I loved Mia dedication to her craft and her pursuit of a mystery about her family that she solves. I found her romance with Louie endearing and realistic with its up and down and its eventual future, but all in all I love how her growth is gradual and inclusive and she includes everyone in that growth and that there is a loving quality between the characters without overt sexual or lewd conduct.

Mia is a sixteen year old American ballet student who has the chance of a lifetime. To dance in Paris at a summer ballet program. Mia comes from a long line of ballet dancers and her time in Paris gives her a chance to find out if an old family story could be true. Could her great great great grandmother been a ballerina that was painted by a famous painter? Mia is such a great character.. She has the ambition that comes with youth. She knows she has to work hard, but can she have ballet and Louis? I loved this book. It makes me want to be young again. It gives the reader the feeling of running around the streets of Paris with Mia and her friends. .

I received this ARC from Netgalley for an honest review. I dont usually ready YA romance anymore, and i dont know what drew me to the book, but i was thoroughly surprised. This novel is so much more than just a simple romance in Paris, its filled with passion, art and culture. I was a little surprised when this book got a bit more serious then i thought it would be, but it worked out in the end. Mia was written so well, with so much life, and energy it was infectious. All in all i rate this one four stars.

Great light hearted read. I was guessing why would happen up until the very end of the book. Really great read.

I can’t believe how much I love this book. Was a quick ready but a great one. There were a few points where it got a bit repetitive when describing some of the romantic moments between Louis and Mia but i’m not sure I expect much more from a young adult novel.

It was really nice to see the friendship between Audrey and Mia grow even in a competitive setting. Not once was anyone really pitted against the other like some story’s do to young girl characters.

I’ve been that young women in a foreign country falling in love with an almost stranger and I was so happy to feel back there again.

This book was so cute!! I’m discovering that I love to read romances set in Paris, it’s a magical setting. Reading the descriptions of the paintings Mia went and saw, and the sites she visited made me want to book a flight to Paris!

Kisses and Croissants follows Mia, a ballerina looking to go professional. Spending the summer at a dance camp in Paris, she finds first love, friends, and challenge. Training for Swan Lake, and hoping to score an audition with an apprentice program, her summer turns out to be more than she’d expected.

I think my favorite thing about this book was the setting. Like I said, it was just magical. Everybody knows and can picture the Eiffel Tower and Paris’s iconic sights. This really just allows you to immerse yourself into the book, which is always something I loved.

I found Mia to be a bit of a unrealistic character, but she got better as the book went on. I was a bit thrown off by her wandering a foreign city alone and with random guys at the beginning, but she ended up being more responsible than she first appeared. Her romance with Louis was absolutely adorable!

I loved the friendship between Audrey and Mia in this book. Ballet is always portrayed as an incredibly negative and competitive sport, so I really enjoyed watching them connect. It was another one of my favorite things, because female friendships are normally ignored or simply not included in so many ya books.

Although I’m not normally a romance reader, I loved this book! I can definitely see myself rereading this whenever I need a happiness boost, it was just light an uncomplicated. I loved the ballet aspects, it was something I hadn’t read before. I’d totally recommend!

This is a wonderful book about friendship. There is also a romance story woven into the book, and that part was wonderful too. I really enjoyed this book!

One thing is for certain: I want to go to Paris, now!
I really enjoyed this delicious, fluffy contemporary novel, and was really impressed with the way it was written.

This is an incredible debut novel about Mia, who gets accepted into a ballet program in Paris, what a dream. I was hungry and craved a croissant through the entire novel, and enjoyed picturing all of the dreamy scenes that Mia describes as she falls in love with Paris (& the French boy, Louis!).

I felt like the friendship between Mia and her used-to-be nemesis Audrey, was genuine and I enjoyed seeing both girls grow together and individually throughout their time in the program. Over all, the character development for everyone in the novel was good, and there wasn’t a character I didn’t like (even the harsh ballet instructor comes around). 🩰

I can’t wait for this book to come out in May of next year, I think it’ll do really well! I definitely want a hard copy!

Thank you to NetGalley for the e-arc!
