The novel starts slow but as the pace increases, it gets so much fun. I really liked the characters. They were completely built and easy to imagine. I like how Paris was incorporated into this novel.

Mia's passion is ballet. When she is accepted to an elite summer ballet program in Paris, she knows this is her chance to achieve her dream: an audition for the American Ballet Theater in New York. Then she meets Louis, but she cannot let him distract her from her goal. Ballet requires total and complete focus. I loved this book! It was so sweet and a cross between Love And Gelato and Love A La Mode.

Synopsis:

Sixteen-year-old Mia, an American girl at an elite summer ballet program, has six weeks to achieve her dreams: to snag an audition with one of the world’s best ballet companies. But there’s more to Paris than ballet—especially when a charming French boy, Louis, wants to be her tour guide—and the pair discover the city has a few mysteries up its sleeve.

Notes: I received a free digital Advanced Copy in exchange for a honest review. I LOVED the book. I was reminded of my trip to Paris and I recognized the places in Paris while reading the book. I love the characters. They are likable. It is a romantic story.

When I first requested the book, I did so because I love the French language and culture and the description sounded interesting. I started the book last night and couldn't put it down until I finished it in the early hours this morning. I loved how developed the characters were and the setting was stunning. The descriptions of Paris made me feel as though I was there, exploring alongside Mia and Louis. I do not know a lot about ballet, but I feel that I have a better understanding of what professional (or aspiring professional) dancers go through for their craft. I appreciated the character growth from the beginning of the novel to the end, and how even the secondary characters didn't remain static but learned from their experiences. Themes of hard work being balanced with experiencing life and working as a team making the company better as a whole were well done. Kisses were certainly swoon-worthy!

This is a story about 17 year old Mia who dreams of being a professional ballerina. She is attending a prestigious summer ballet program in Paris. While there she meets a boy, Louis. He takes her all around Paris as well as help her chase down facts on a family legend. This is the first time Mia has ever let anything come between her and her ballet goals. She must learn to balance ballet, family, and love.

This was a cute book. I really enjoyed the ballet aspect and the vivid descriptions of her summer in Paris. The love connection between Louis and Mia was good but I did feel that it went a little fast. For a girl who has never let anyone get in between her and ballet, it seemed a little unbelievable that she gave in so easily. I wasn't expecting the little twist at the end. It was nice that it wasn't predictable.

It has amazing settings, romance, and lets you take a virtual trip without
every leaving your home. It would make a great movie as well!

This is a super sweet book about a young high school ballerina away in paris at intensive training program. She falls for French boy she meets and struggles to find time for both ballet and her growing love. I definitely enjoyed the ballet storyline more than the love story line and wish there was more development of the friendships that are discussed earlier in the book. Overall it was very sweet and cute, a fast fun read. Especially if you liked Center Stage but with high school students.

This is such a cute book for any YA that loves dance and romance! It is such a sweet story and clean! I could see myself in the main characters and connected with them. Cute, feel-good story line!

Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to review this title!

This was so cute. The ballet aspects brought back some repressed memories that were so wonderful. And to visit all those sites of Paris. Honestly I loved it all .
The main character seemed a little too wishy washy for me. I felt as if every chapter ended with her saying "I have to remember why I am here." Which yes, remember your dream and goals for ballet but every chapter needed he reminder?

Kisses & Croissants was such a fun young adult read. This book gave me an escape to Paris and all that comes with an abroad adventure.

Mia, a high school student, has the chance of a lifetime to dance in Paris at an elite program for the summer. Of course she wasn’t expecting to be distracted and swept up in the magic of Paris by Louis, a French boy she meets once she arrives. Can she balance both discovering Paris with Louis and achieving her dreams of a dancing career? You’ll have to pick up the book to find out!

This book was a fun, light-hearted YA rom-com set in Paris! I loved reading about the different Paris sights Mia and Louis went to visit, all of the French pastries and ice cream and learning more about life as a ballerina. What I really liked about the writing of this was the use of French throughout the book followed by the translation in English! It really saved me time in trying to look-up what was being said, and it flowed well with the book!

This book started out a little slow for me, but once I got more into the romance part of the story and Mia's struggle with finding balance I quickly finished the book. I was excited this story focused on Mia's love for Degas, as I grew up with Degas pictures in my living room and always took a liking to Little Dancer.

While this had a romance to the story it also focused on girl friendships and mother-daughter relationships. I enjoyed the many storylines in this book, but at times it dragged on in all the details. I look forward to reading other books by this author.

Center Stage in book form for a new generation! This was a cute and easy-breezy read taking readers to the streets of Paris, following a girl determined to follow her ballet dreams and track down any possibility of truth that her ancestor was an inspiration for Degas' famous ballet paintings. I would have liked to see more story about all of the dancers, the elite dancing, and their relationships with each other, however this book's primary focus is the romance. Still, it was cute and I know my dance-crazy patrons will love this.

Super cute YA novel. I was drawn into the story from the get go. Very well done. You will read the whole thing in one setting because you can’t put it down.

Cute YA novel about a girl who loves to dance and finds romance while studying ballet in Paris one summer. I didn’t love the ending—too cliche and melodramatic, but the characters were likable and theirs emotional journeys were believable and sweet. I recommend for girls 12-15.

A sweet YA romance about an American ballerina and a French artist who begin a summer adventure together that will change everything. Mia is a talented and driven ballerina who goes to Paris for an elite ballet program for the summer. She not only meets a cute French aspiring artist Louis, she finds out the truth behind family secrets and what she's had to sacrifice to get where she is. Mia thought she knew what she wanted and what she needed to do to get it, but maybe she's been wrong. A fun, flirty romance that is the perfect summer escape.

Kisses and Croissants by Anne-Sophie Jouhanneau is a sweet meringue of a book. Teenager Mia is spending her summer in Paris at a prestigious ballet training program. Ballet is Mia's life; she's dedicated and driven. She very definitely doesn't have time for boys. Not even incredibly cute French boys who help her out of a jam by giving her a ride on their Vespas....Or does she?

Is there room in Mia's life for ballet and Louis? Mia only has one shot at dancing in Swan Lake and impressing people from the world's most prestigious ballet companies. It's going to take hours of rehearsal and incredible focus. But what about being in the most romantic city in the world? Can she really pass up the chance to find love?

Perfect charmer of a YA romance - lots of gorgeous descriptions of buildings and food and those Parisian bakeries, oh my! A great behind the scenes look at how hard ballet dancers train and push their bodies. Sprinkle in a family legend involving Degas and an intense dancing rivalry for some extra fun.

Thank you NetGalley and Delacorte Press for the ARC.

A charming coming of age story filled with passion for life and love. This book serves as a wonderful tour guide of Paris as you follow Mia on her journey through her passion for ballet and as she learns she can enjoy her life while also following her dreams.

Oh. My. God. This is the cutest fluffiest YA story I’ve read since To All the Boys & Love & Gelato!

This light hearted summery romance was just what I needed. I absolutely adored our main characters Mia & Louis, and loved the new friendships Mia made through her ballet journey in Paris. I felt as though I was there with them eating the delicious croissants, discovering Paris’ hidden gems & dancing grueling hours as a ballet dancer. Now more than ever I want to visit Paris and see the destinations Mia & Louis visited.

I said it before & I’ll say it again, be sure to pick up Kisses and Croissants when it comes out in April 2021.
