I'm glad I'm finished because I CAN BREATHE AGAIN. For real. Ronie Kendig lives up to her Rapid-Fire Fiction tagline in this phenomenal conclusion to The Book of the Wars series!

The intensity and nonstop pace of the story, the characters and not knowing what would happen with them, the thrill...all of it kept me reading until I could close the cover on my Kindle, take a deep breath, and let my heartbeat get back to normal (maybe).

I can't ever say enough about Kendig's stories--she truly is a gifted and insightful writer--other than DO NOT SKIP PAST HER BOOKS.

A fast paced read, with a complex and engaging plot. A little confusing at times as I was coming in without having read the previous books in the series, but I thought that I had until I started reading. So I think that I would have enjoyed this more if I had read the other books in the series.

A riveting read that kept me guessing and hanging on tight!

Love all of this authors’ books and this one is no exception. Thrilling plot and interesting characters all make this a must-read page turner.

This book is incredibly good. It is intense and full of twists and turns. This story is masterfully woven together, bringing a conclusion to an epic story.

It's so hard to see this series end. While I think we'll see the characters again, I'm not ready to say goodbye. Leif and the crew hold a special place in my reader heart. This story of love, sacrifice, and honor is one you don't want to miss. The action is full-throttle and will leave you on the edge of your seat more often than not. Never underestimate Leif.

This book was so good! It picked up right where book 2 ended, it had be hooked from page one. It was the perfect end to the trilogy, highly recommend reading the first two before this one. It was such an amazing book

Can they prevent the end of the free world?

After reading the first two books in The Book Of The Wars series you can imagine how anxious I was to finally find out what was going to happen to Reaper and crew. Would ARC succeed? Would the world as we know it end forever? Could Reaper save the day? Could Leif and Iskra survive the lies and manipulation around them to find their way back to each other? Lots of questions...but would I like the answers...?

I kinda wondered about the title when I first picked up my Kindle and saw it, but, as it turns out, Soul Raging couldn't have been more fitting. It seemed like not only was Leif's soul raging but so was everyone else's. Betrayal, fear, anger, all of it seemed to be driving each member of Reaper to the breaking point. Not to mention the insane villains bent on death and world domination.

Ronie Kendig really amped up the danger, intrigue, and angst in this final The Book Of The Wars novel.. Honestly, not something I thought possible after reading the first two, but she succeeded on a massive scale. Soul Raging was a very strong conclusion to Ronie Kendig's gritty series that skillfully mixes military thriller with supernatural suspense. So, one question remains...will you accept this mission and start reading?

From the very first line of this book to the last, I found I needed to remind myself to BREATHE!
Wow! Like the two other books in this series, I was captivated and amazed at the intense drama each of these characters went through.
What Ronie Kendig does to her characters is beyond anything I could think up. I don’t know if I’d like to be in one of her books.
However, I do LOVE to read about it and experience all of it from the safety of my own chair and cozy home. Unfortunately, while sitting in my chair I was sometimes gripping the seat and trying not to stop or look away from the book. There were parts in the book where I also wanted to shake a few of the characters up for how they were acting. I loved all the tension, dialogues, emotions, and actions of everyone in this book. They were relatable even though at times they seemed larger than life.
Ronie Kendig knows how to twist and turn the story in such a way you don’t see what’s right in front of you and when you see it, you can’t believe it! Many times I thought I knew who the true bad guys were and then I was proven wrong!
If you want to read a book packed full of intrigue, suspense, action (LOTS OF ACTION!), drama, military struggles, and a bit (well maybe more than a bit)of romance, then this is the book for you!
You might need a day or two to process all that happens in this book.
Believe me, you won't be able to breathe deeply until the end, but it will be worth it.
There were a few nights when I looked up from reading and it wasn’t as early as I thought. Meals were missed or casually thrown together because I just couldn’t put it down!
I highly recommend reading this book and the whole series.
Pick it up it will take you on the adventure of your life.

Ronie Kendig does not mince on the action. This was a perfect ending to a series I am so sorry to say goodbye to <3 Leif and his team might just face their greatest challenge because not only are they after a terrorist, a supernatural one at that but also dealing with a break of trust within their own group. And that ending... perfection ;-)

Wow! The Book of the Wars series finished with a bang - a very literal one. I don't even know what to say about this book because it was such a wild ride from beginning to end. The storyline between the three books continues unbroken, so this book picks up right where book two left off. I also don't know how to review this without giving any spoilers, so perhaps I'll just keep it brief and say . . . wow. Definitely read this series if you enjoy fast paced thrillers in which the fate of the entire world rests on a few select people. The action is never ending, the plot twists just keep coming, and this book is entirely, 100% un-put-down-able. Well done, Kendig! I can't wait to read this author's next book.

Soul Raging, book three from The Book of the Wars series by Ronie Kendig, is a pretty good read. I give it four and a half stars.

Soul Raging picks up right where the story left off: Leif, our hero, has been activated from sleeper status by the Armageddon Coalition. The hero has become the villain…or has he? As the team deals with the apparent betrayal—although they realize he had no choice in the matter—they continue the push to stop ArC and their goal of world domination.

Unfortunately for Soul Raging, it has to build on the shaky plotting of the first two books in the series. While the saga began with a bunch of organizations seeking the fabled Book of the Wars, we’ve seen little of the book itself since the beginning. Instead, the emphasis has shifted toward stopping ArC, who also wants the book for their own purposes. Along the way, the team has dealt with high-tech weaponry that includes controlling the weather, implants that control other humans, and tech-enhanced humans. Kendig has thrown everything at the wall and little of it has stuck.

Now, in book three, she attempts to make sense of it all and draw readers back into the original stated storyline of finding the book. Except, again, the focus is not on the book, but an interpretative painting of the book’s final prophecies. It’s almost as if Kendig decided that she didn’t like her magical artifact enough mid-storyline so she just changed it.

Unsurprisingly, the book’s difficult-to-understand prophecies become crystal clear when it comes to the final predictions, ones which directly point to Lief as the person who fulfills them. Fortuitous. Betrayals and misunderstandings abound. While the first two books were action-heavy and light on exposition, Kendig crams all sorts of exposition into the first half of the book to try to make sense of everything that’s happened and is happening. It’s a complex info-dump that does nothing to eliminate confusion. The plot hurtles to a close and its predetermined happily-ever-after and close curtains.

While the plotting had been tepid throughout the series, Kendig’s dialogue was noticeably different and not as good in this book. Let me give you some examples of real dialogue in the book:

• “Holy son … of a motherless … Caesar’s goat and fudgesicles … on frick frack.” – says the character after almost being killed.
• “Back that crack truck up” – says a character who doesn’t like what the other character is saying. Objectively a hilarious phrase, but doesn’t fit the character at all.
• “The spit was hitting the fan…” – Kendig really want to curse, but Bethany House wasn’t having it. Fine, but edit it out. It was at this point, I actually checked a final copy because I was reading an ARC and thought that maybe these had been removed from the draft. Nope.
• It looked like a twenty-sided die. No way. “TAZ?” – a character jumps from seeing a character with a D20 tattoo to assuming they’re fans of the real-life comedy DnD podcast The Adventure Zone. Rather odd reference to be sure that, again, doesn’t seem to fit the character.
• Mercy’s ooga-chaka baby virus that saved the world was classic, and the team high-fived over that. – I could try to explain this one, but won’t.

I have tried so very hard to like Ronie Kendig’s books. She is a perennial award-winner and always gets high praise in reviews. As someone who had primarily tried her space opera fantasies, I decided to switch over to this genre to give it a try and committed myself to all three books in the series. I just have to conclude that, while these books are for some people—judging by the other reviews, including those on my reviewing team—they just aren’t for me.

Soul Raging is book three in The Book of Wars series, You really need to read book one, Storm Rising, and book two, Kings Falling before you read this one. I truly enjoy this entire seres, however there are many times when I was a little lost or confused but just keep reading and many things become clear.
We are introduced to Leaf Metcalfe and the entire Reaper team in book one. I love that we continue to connect with the entire team throughout all this series. If you enjoy books that lead into the next you will love this series. It is packed with action, mystery, twist and turns, and so much more.

Ronie Kendig.... need I say more? If this author isn't already sitting right at the top of your 'favourite' pile, then you need to rearrange. She is one of those writers that you pre-order books from because you know that whatever she puts out is going to be epic.



I am a massive fan of her latest two series, the Tox Files and The Book of The Wars, in which fantasy combines with reality which embroils itself into prophesy. She makes you ask if the impossible is possible and to question if the truths of reality are really what they seem? These books hurtle you on a wild adventure that is literally impossible to leap off of. Fair warning: Once you start these books, you won't be sleeping until you finish.



Soul Raging is the final book in The Book of the Wars series. It is a nail biting adventure in which Leif finally uncovers the glaring answers of his past and who he really is. His team is left with some dramatic choices as they need to decide who and what they trust.... and to what extent. The lines between friend and enemy blur as Leif and his team fight to take down an enemy that is much bigger than themselves and one that is, perhaps, even within themselves.



An excellent book to finish up an unforgettable series. Make sure to read the Tox Files before jumping into The Book of the Wars series. Order is important here.

Anyone in the audience like ALL. OF. THE. FEELS. in their reads? How about characters with depth, nuance, and complexity? Orrr...a potentially world-ending, apocalyptic level event that only a team of prophesied warriors can stop? Anyone?

Because, y'all. This book *delivers* all of the above, and so much more.

Let me take you back for a sec. I first discovered Ronie Kendig through the Tox Files series and had my socks blown wayyy off. Like, how could one author be this good? And why on EARTH was I so late to the party?

Then I started the Book of the Wars trilogy and realized she could actually top herself. Repeatedly. (Although the Tox Files will never not be my favorite. #toxenforever. I'm just saying.)

And Soul Raging was the incredible conclusion to an epic, heart-rending, pulse-spiking adventure. And now it's over. I may not recover.

Through betrayal, loss, shattering revelations, and a hefty dose of sci-fi magnificence, this book delighted and enthralled me and blew my mind. I thoroughly enjoyed the team dynamics and that ending. THAT ENDING melts me. This book was pure adrenaline and a wild roller coaster of emotions that only Ronie Kendig could deliver.

In case it wasn't totally obvious...I highly recommend this book, this series, and this author.

Kendig had me holding my breath from the very first page. To be honest I feel like I’ve been holding it since I read the last chapter of Kings Falling, which is the previous book in this series. Soul Raging had me questioning everything I thought I knew about Reaper, a team bend on protecting people from threats they’ll never know existed. But what happens when they worry that one of their team members might be one of those threats. Trust is hard to earn, but all to easy to shatter. Can Leif show his team that he’s doing what needs to be done without telling them everything?

I could not imagine the twists and turns this story took. Crazy and terrifying scenarios that left me reeling and yet I couldn’t stop reading. Kendig is obviously the master of suspense, and I love that I can never guess how a story will turn out. Let me tell you, she’s left me heartbroken before, and that keeps me nervous and hopeful until the very end. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Military Suspense. There is just the perfect amount of romance mixed in. I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers and was in no way forced to post a positive review. What an END! Whew...

This was one wild and crazy ride. For part of it (ok, a good chunk of it) I had no idea how Kendig was going to wrap this up! I was thinking...but surely there's no way that Leif can come home! But yet, she pulled it off with finesse and that was at once believable and also heart-pounding. (That close-to-end scene anyone???).

I love the fast-paced nature of Kendig's books and love that this was no exception. I also really loved to see Leif in this book as well. He really makes the book what it is!

And that ending...I won't say anything but it was just right!

100% recommend to fans of fast-paced, excellently written and plotted books! You'll love this series and can binge the whole thing now - it'll be worth it, trust me!

Soul Raging is the long-anticipated conclusion to the Book of the Wars series — and boy is it a thrill ride around the world! The foundation and riveting twists in Storm Rising and Kings Falling set the stage for the even higher stakes of Soul Raging, making this series one best enjoyed in order. By book 3, Ronie Kendig has uniquely set up a situation where the reader is unclear on whether the good guy is going to be the bad guy… or if any of the beloved characters are actually playing both sides.


I am in AWE of Ronie Kendig’s storytelling skills with her edge-of-your-seat action, deep themes, character team dynamics, and thrilling twists. Unexpected in many ways, it is still wonderfully familiar with plenty of humor and adrenaline. I especially appreciate the theme of sacrifice and a subtle thread of faith connecting the characters to their purpose.

If you have been following the series so far, all of your questions will be answered — and some twists revealed you never saw coming — in this perfect conclusion to the Book of the Wars saga. I’m ready to read it all again!

I loved each book I'm this series and the covers too! I'm sad to see it end. At least I got to jump on board from the beginning this time so I wasn't lost at by the time this story came along.
Some twists and turns that I never expected to come along. I love surprises like this! It is why I couldn't put the book down until I finished it. I hated to say goodbye.
But I will be watching to see what she comes out with next.
Wonderful characters with a great plot you won't want to miss this last book in this series.
