Who killed Andrew? Was it his ex- wife Louise or his current wife Can? Well, all I'll tell you is that this is a wild ride. Told alternately by Louise, who still all these years later hasn't gotten over the divorce, and Caz, it's all about jealousy, secrets, and lies. Their narratives (and who is the reliable narrator here?) are interspersed with police interviews. Louise poked and poked at Cat and her histoy and Cat poked and poked back at Louise. And now the very person they've found over is spectacularly dead. You might like one of the women more than other but hold your judgment- there's more to both of them than it appears. This occasionally goes a bit over the top but the plot does zip along. Thanks to the publisher for the ARC. It's hard to review without spoilers but know that this is a good read.

One in Three
by: Tess Simpson
Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

One great book
Three different scenarios
Only one answer
Can you guess the ending?
I definitely didn’t.

What I liked:
Lots of twists
Misdirection - used in a successful way

What I disliked:
The characters were introduced in a confusing way. But once I had all the characters down they each stood well on their own.
The structure of the novel felt a little too familiar.

Perfect for:
⭐️ Fans of Liane Moriarty⭐️ A quick read⭐️ When you’re feeling extra spiteful

Thank you @netgalley for the free ebook in exchange for my honest review.

I thought the title of this book was really clever, given the cover blurb: “one in three marriages end in divorce, but this one ends in murder”. I really liked the premise that the husband is dead and both wives look equally guilty.

However, I was expecting a bit more “thrill” to this thriller. Up to 60% of the way into the book, there wasn’t much suspense or intrigue other than the knowledge that Andy is dead. It was just a lot of drama between two petty wives. Both Caz and Louise are clearly unreliable narrators who each think the other is in the wrong. I was surprised to find myself liking Caz more and taking her side--Louise just came across as whiny and needy and dependent. None of the adults in this story were likable, though.

The ending was good and redeemed the book somewhat. I’m definitely on the outs with my opinion, because all I’ve seen are 4 and 5 star reviews!

I still found the story interesting, but I keep getting books from NetGalley (other places too, but NetGalley in particular) that market themselves as thrillers when they aren’t. This one was a family drama with a little mystery around Andy’s death.

Did his wife kill him or was it the ex? Well, I'm not going to tell you, so you better start reading!

This is perfect for fans of a good thriller. Although it isn't the best I've ever read, it was very entertaining. I didn't see a few of the twists coming, which is always a plus.

I love that all three of the main characters had their own juicy secrets.

Definitely give this one a shot if you're looking for a quick read.

It's Complicated meets murder! This book was so twisty that I still haven't come to terms with the ending!

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper 360 for this advanced copy which I received in return for an honest review.

I wanted to love this book, but I didn't. It was a cookie cutter read, too predictable and formulaic. The characters weren't all that likeable, though the writing was okay, but nothing I'll remember long after reading the final page.

A gripping, twisty book about a love triangle of sorts. Andrew and Louise have been married for ten years. He leaves her for another woman Caz. Louise is not ready to let Andrew just up and enjoy his life with his new trophy wife after all their years together. Andrew ends up dead which is early on in the story but we don't know by who when both wives are standing over his body covered in his blood.
Thanks Netgalley for the advance ecopy and the publisher.

“Memory is a tricky thing.” So writes Tess Stimson in One in Three. Wow! Is she right!

From the first chapter, we know that Andrew Page, a semi-famous newscaster, is dead. He was stabbed at his former in-laws’ 50th anniversary party. Both his ex-wife Louise and his current wife Caz are suspects and each accuses the other of the crime. There are no witnesses.

Who killed Andrew? And why? The story begins seven weeks earlier and is narrated by Louise and Caz. Their descriptions of the same events vary wildly. Louise was married to Andrew for fifteen years and is the mother of his children Bella and Tolly. Four years earlier, Andrew left her for Caz, a younger woman with whom he shares a son, Kit. Louise has never recovered from the divorce and is passionately jealous of Caz and obsessively fixated on Andrew. Caz has tried to create a successful blended family but the situation is further complicated by the relationship Andrew has with Louise’s parents. As the weeks before the party pass, tensions between the two women escalate and troublesome past behavior is revealed making the reader believe that either woman could be guilty.

If memory is a tricky thing, so are the final few twisty chapters of One in Three. No spoilers, but be ready for one of the most exciting conclusions that you won’t see coming. This is a terrific read! Tess Stimson plays with your feelings for each of the characters and you alternate between sympathy, anger and disbelief. Definitely a 5 star read!

Thank you to NetGalley, Harper 360 and Tess Stimson for this ARC.

Want to read a deliciously sinister story? Then I recommend One in Three by Tess Stimson. Two women love one man, who will die. The story counts backwards in the ensuing weeks leading up the Andrew’s death. The relationship between the ex wife, Louise and the current wife, Caz, is explored. Both have secrets. But so does Andrew. There were at least two main surprises the author drops on readers toward the end of the book. I enjoy a good thriller and this one fit the bill. Andrew is not what he seems, but just when you think you know who the killer was, think again.

From the beginning I couldn't stop reading this book. It's one of those books you want to tell everyone about. How could you not enjoy a story about trying to figure out if his wife or ex-wife killed him. Please pick this up when it's released.

Thank you NetGalley and Avon Publication for giving me the chance to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Louise is divorced from her husband, Andrew. He has gone on with his life and eventually married "the other woman", Caz.

They are still in competition with each other .. neither of them giving up the man they both love. Louise is looking onto Caz' past .. she just 'knows' there's something there. Up until now, the two women have maintained a civil relationship, but that is find changing.

They have both discovered more about the man they both married.

Things come to a head when Andrew is found dead at a family party. Both women are standing over his body.

It’s always the wife. But which one?

Well-written, it's suspenseful and full of twists and turns. There may some triggers for some .. the author has addressed the subjects of child abuse and infidelity with a light hand. The characters are solidly drawn into the midst of this most dysfunctional family. The voices of the characters are revealed chapter by chapter. The ending was unexpected.

Many thanks to the author / Harper 360 - Avon / Avon Books UK / Netgalley for the digital copy of this psychological thriller. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

In Tess Stimson’s book, One in Three, a husband is murdered and the only two suspects are the ex wife and the current wife.

This book caught my attention from the moment I began to read it. It was told through the viewpoints of the ex wife, current wife, and sister in law with police interviews interspersed throughout. I had no trouble following the plot and the twist ending had another twist which was really well executed. I highly recommend this book.

This was a roller coaster from beginning to end and I was captivated! Most families are blended now a days. And find it very hard to co parent. Some would even say that they would want to kill the ex of their loved one. But would you really? This book had me guessing until the LAST PAGE. I honestly didn’t know who to believe. Well written. Highly recommend. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I loved this book!! Stimson keeps you guessing until the very last chapter!

This book opens with a very dramatic murder scene, then goes back to before anything was wrong and the three main characters tell their sides of the story leading up to it. Their accounts are interspersed with police interviews of third parties who witnessed various events leading up to the murder. The way the story is crafted makes it unputdownable!

The one criticism I had of this book is that at one point the main character’s (Louise, the ex-wife) sister says that the her brother in law kissed her once and she kissed him back. I found it to be kind of an unnecessary tidbit that didn’t really fit—- if she was so keen on her sister leaving the guy all she had to do was share that he kissed her and surely that would have helped break them up. Additionally, throughout the book the sister is annoyed that her mom still likes the guy, but again, had she shared this little tidbit I’m sure it would have helped her see the light too. I imagine the author was trying to cement that the guy is a womanizer.... but it just didn’t fit.

Still, I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick read, potentially unreliable narrators, gaslighting or who just enjoys a good mystery!

Told from multiple points of view, this fast paced family drama did not disappoint. The story opens with a murder scene and the remaining chapters outline what led up to the murder. Lots of twists and turns. A super surprise ending. Recommended.

This is the first book I've read by Tess Stimson, but I will fix that ASAP! Incredible plot and well developed characters that evolved as you got to know them. Right from the beginning you know the victim and the two possible murderesses, yet until the very last page you are kept guessing... who really did it? It is told from the perspective of several characters and I found myself trying to guage how reliable each of them were and who's version of events I could trust! I read as much as I could in one sitting and when I woke up today to a power outage, I happily took the "free" time to finish this amazing book

So grateful to Net Galley & HarperCollins for an ARC of this amazing book!
