When two long time friends get away for the weekend, neither of them could have dreamed how they'd wlak into so much trouble. A perfect mystery as Orla frantically searchs for her lost friend. Lots of tension, action and twists kept the pages flying.

This is an easy-to-read book about a girls weekend gone wrong. I love the incorporation of vacation rentals in the story. It reminded me to the diligent when reserving a vacation rental for a trip.

The Weekend Away is a suspenseful mystery that kept me guessing. I didn't love the ending but really enjoyed the story. Can't wait to read more from this author.

I couldn't relate to the new mom getaway feeling, but when the 2 ladies invite 2 strange men back from the bar, the book takes off from there. When one of them goes missing, the other is completely shattered. This is a great mystery that I thoroughly enjoyed! It was very engaging and well developed.

I read this book quite awhile ago and forgot to review it.

Throughout all the twists in this book it’s hard to tell exactly who is the good person. But the ending when you find out the twist, ah, perfect!

I grabbed this one with the knowledge that Netflix was creating a movie of it. Wanting to read before watching, I devoured this one over a day at work, listening. It is fast paced. If you are familiar with other British/ Irish thrillers, this one matches the mental confusion template. After finishing, I felt for the MC as her world is forever changed. Grab this one for a great beach read or for a long weekend, you’ll not be disappointed. Thanks NetGalley for the free ARC.

Although this book was similar to a few others along this story line I enjoyed the writing style. I was captured and really enjoyed the way the author held my attention with her descriptions of the ambiance.

Orla and Kate are best friends and they take a weekend away for a girl's weekend. Some best friend trips can go well some not so much. I loved the character development in the story and the twists that left you wondering where things would go next. An enjoyable summer read.

The Weekend Away by Sarah Alderson has SOO many twists and turns! I don't want to give too much away but this book is one you will want to pick up for your next vacation/beach read. The ending was fantastic!

Orla and Kate have been best friends for a long time. They have also been going away for a girl’s weekend for years but stopped when Orla was going through IVF and when she gave birth to her daughter. But now the time is right, and they are off to Lisbon. Perfect place for a holiday. What could go wrong? Apparently a lot!

They reach there and decide to go out for a fancy dinner and then to a club for a night of fun! The next morning, Orla wakes up and Kate is missing. What is worse is that Orla can barely remember the night before. Trying to find her friend, Orla decides to retrace their steps from the night before and, with plenty of twists during Orla's own investigation everything starts to unravel.

This is a fast entertaining read and the setting in Lisbon adds to the atmosphere of the book. The moral of this tale is how well do you really know your friends.

A solid 3.5 read that I'm rounding upto 4 stars.

I thought the story here was great, but the main character Orla was just annoying in my opinion. I couldn’t find it in myself to have any pity for the things she was going through.

The Weekend Away by Sarah Alderson is a great psychological thriller about relationships and trust. Two friends go on an annual girls’ trip and one comes up missing. Engaging and enjoyable read. #TheWeekendAway #NetGalley

I was not expecting this book to be so good. I haven't read a book in recent years filled with so much suspense. I could not put it down!

Oh my goodness I just realized that I did not review this book in a timely manner. I actually enjoyed it so much I’ve read it twice. So many twists and turns and it kept me guessing until the end. I re-read it a few months later and I still was captivated. Great one! Thank you netgalley and publisher for this arc in exchange of an honest review. My apologies for the delay.

I’m giving this five stars because it kept me up all night. It had a lot of twists for me. I suspected everyone and I mean everyone. Towards the end I was trying to decide if I liked where it went when I was smacked in the head again with a twist! I was entertained.
Orla and Kate are two best friends who use to travel together yearly. Life gets in the way of that when Orla decides to have a baby. A few months after the birth of Marlow, Kate asks Orla to go on a girls weekend away, just like they use to do. Orla thinks it will be good to get away, recharge, and spend time with her best friend. Kate, getting a divorce, is expecting more of a getaway like they did when both were single. The weekend goes sour when one of them ends up missing.
I’m not that certain I really liked any of the characters. I liked Orla the best. I’ve known the Kate type. I would think Orla could have seen a bit more into the type of person she is. I don’t think the Kate’s of the world try hard to hide who they are. They are more the type that believe everyone should accept them and excuse any bad behavior because they are spending time with you. I think instead of asking, “do you really know your best friend?”, we should be asking, “do you really know anyone?”. Everyone has secrets. Everyone lies...to themselves as well as to others. So do you really know anyone?

I really enjoyed this fast paced read, the first I've read from Sarah Alderson.

Two longtime friends, new mom Orla and newly single Kate, take a much needed girls weekend to Lisbon. After a night out, Orla wakes up to find Kate is nowhere to be found. With help from their Uber driver, Kate sets out to find out where her friend is.

The characters were great. I especially liked how creepy she made the landlord Sebastian and I liked quiet, mysterious Konstandin. The author had a lot of misdirection which kept me guessing, and a twist at the end that I truly did not see coming. Maybe I should have, but it caught me!

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

A decent thriller, while by no means life changing, left me satisfied. Two friends go on vacation to Portugal. Lots of drinking and drugs are involved. One goes missing. There is a super creepy vacation rental owner (made me really reconsider AIrBnBs traveling as a solo female), inept/uncaring police (but of course), overly helpful Uber driver (very suspect), Lots of twists and turns, some expected some not. Would I recommend to people, sure. Not as a way to get into the genre, but for people who already like this style.
