It's nearly Christmas, Sheriff Joanna Brady's husband is gone on an author tour and one of her deputy's is injured while delivering a protection order. The man who injured him is dead and now her department is under investigation. Joanna's daughter is planning on coming home for Christmas from her first semester at college and is dealing with some drama with her roommate, and wants Mom to help.. Joanna thinks there's something funny going on with the shooting situation and though she's not supposed to get involved she begins asking questions. This is a great mystery, there are twists and turns and nothing is quite as it seems. The fact it's set at Christmas does not detract from the story, it just helps to develop the characters a little more. I always worry when starting a new novel from a long running series, "is this the one that begins the decline in quality?" This is not the one, I love Jance's books and this one does not disappoint! #netgalley #missingandendangered

I really loved this book! From the first chapter to the last, I wanted to keep reading and reading. It was very interesting, fast moving, and kept you on your toes.

All of the characters were very descriptive, well thought out, put together, and interesting. I don't want to give away any of the story, but what I will tell you is this...... you are routing for the good guys and you hope beyond hope that all of the bad guys get what is coming to them!

Enjoy!

Any time I see a new JA Jance book, I jump at the chance to read it and this was no exception. This brings back a favorite character, Sheriff Joanna Brady is still at the helm of law enforcement in her Arizona county. This installment features her daughter and her daughter’s roommate, a sheltered young woman who falls prey to a manipulative online beau.

As Jance always does, multiple threads are woven together beautifully and it is nearly impossible to put down.

Another hit book featuring Sheriff Joanna Brady and the small Arizona town of Bisbee. Since the last book, Joanna has had another baby, her oldest is in college and hubby's writing career has really taken off. A few key characters have moved on to be replaced by new ones, and a new "situation" involving an officer involved shooting around small children takes center stage. Is it murder, self defense or worse? I love this series! This new book was terrific.

Thanks #netgalley for the ARC.

It's been years since I ready a book in the Joanna Brady series, and now I'm wondering why: I remember enjoying them, and this latest installment was a great read! There are two plot lines, both of which explore vulnerability. The first starts with a shooting involving one of Sheriff Brady's officers that may be more complicated than it seems.. The second plot line involves a sexploitation scheme against Sheriff Brady's oldest daughter's college roommate, a timely topic that Jance uses as an educational opportunity without it feeling like one. The book is well-written, the characters are engaging, and the story is well thought-out & flows seamlessly.Having missed a number of books in the series did not affect my enjoyment of this one --in fact, reading this one has made me put the ones I've missed on my to-read list, and I look forward to the next in the series. Thank you to NetGalley & William Morrow for the ARC.

Netgalley provided me with a free ebook in exchange for an unbiased and honest opinion.

First of all, I am a fan of J.A.Jance's Joanna Brady series. These novels are set in southern Arizona, the main character is a strong woman in what is typically "a man's world" though that is definitely changing. Joanna deals with many issues that face women today. Another thing I like about her books is that contemporary issues are approached while not being preachy. In Missing and Endangered, Jance is addressing issues of sexting/cybersex (nothing graphic in the book) and domestic violence where the perpetrator is a woman.

Missing and Endangered is Jance's 19th book in the Joanna Brady series. I recommend you read them in order as characters continue to grow and develop throughout the series. One other thing I find fascinating about this series is how Jance continues reflect each era appropriately throughout the series and this is most evident in the changes in technology.

I highly recommend this book. I think it is one of the best in this series.

In Missing and Endangered, J.A.Jance returns the reader to the world of Sheriff Joanna Brady in Bisbee, Arizona. She skillfully weaves the story of Joanna’s most recent departmental challenge of solving an officer-involved shooting with a totally unrelated mystery involving her daughter Jennifer and her roommate at Northern Arizona University. As the story unfolds, the reader is treated to glimpses of the Sheriff’s warm but chaotic family life and reconnects with many Sheriff’s Department employees and family friends and neighbors met in previous installments of this long-running mystery series. While this story may not be the most dramatic and exciting of the series, Jance’s skill at creating characters who the reader hopes will either appear in future adventures with Sheriff Brady or will meet the fate they deserve make this book a satisfying and memorable read.

The sheriffs daughter invites the girl home for Christmas but within hours the department is sucked into a complex- officer involved shooting that place two vulnerable young children in jeopardy. With her daughter’s wellbeing at stake the sheriff knows there’s no room for the slightest mistakes as hope ticks away for the young girl whom has gone missing and endangered. Another 5 star Johanna Brady novel.
Lots of departmental changes in the Cochise County Sheriff's Office taking place adding to Sheriff Brady's workload.
Due to an officer involved shooting, Johanna has to work from the sidelines.
Through all of that she is able to help two endangered children find a better life and help her daughter, Jenny deal with her missing college roommate.
You won't be disappointed in this novel which I read in one day! Couldn't put it down!

Missing And Endangered – JA Jance

The holidays are fast approaching and Joanna Brady’s eldest daughter, Jennifer is finishing up her term Northern Arizona University. Jenny’s roommate Beth is a freshman, and still new to campus life, having led a rather sheltered existence at home where her domineering parents shun all things technological. But on campus, she quickly takes advantage of all technology has to offer, purchasing a smart phone and computer, and finds herself a boyfriend on a dating site. After a huge row with her parents during Thanksgiving break, Beth has no intentions of returning home for the holidays, and Jenny invites her to spend Christmas at the Brady Ranch.

Meanwhile, Joanna has just received word that one of her long time deputies is set to retire for medical reasons, and another has just been shot and badly wounded while trying to serve a protective order. Pushing Jenny and her roommate to the back of her mind, she sets out to check on her deputy and to visit the crime scene, only to learn that her nemesis, Deputy Dave Newton of the DPS has been assigned to investigate the officer-involved shooting, effectively removing Joanna form the investigation. As her deputy fights for his life in a Tucson hospital, Joanna calls in favors as she and her team try to quietly discover what really happened at the scene...

Back in Flagstaff, Jenny & Beth prepare for finals, and Beth tries to balance her school life with her security cyber expert boyfriend, Ron Cameron, who has to call her late at night because of his super-secret job in DC. As their phone relationship grows, he convinces her to send nude photos of herself. Then after a strange argument, she breaks it off with him, only to begin receiving lurid texts from both strangers and classmates. In horror, she learns that Ron has somehow shared those private pictures with hundreds of people.
As Jenny helps Beth pick up the pieces, Joanna learns of the situation and gets the FBI involved. But this predator is still watching the girls, determined to destroy Beth for defying him – and now he has his sights set on Jenny as well…

I have read (to my knowledge, anyway) every book that JA Jance has written, so I was delighted when William Morrow/Harpers Collins selected me to receive an advance reader copy of her latest Joanna Brady novel. I settled in eagerly to read, and as always, Ms Jance does not disappoint! This one kept me up well into the night, and I was determined to finish it in one sitting! If you’re a fan of her series, this book will not disappoint – and if you’re new to her writings, this is a great place to start, as each can be read as a stand-alone. Bet ya can’t read just one though!!

This is another hit by J. A. Jance in the Joanna Brady Series. There are actually two stories evolving in this book. Both equally interesting. The first revolved around the murder of a father who was involved in a gun show down with a deputy on Joanna Brady’s police force. Reading further into the story, it was a lot more complicated than that. The second brings in Joanna’s college aged daughter, and a mistake that her dorm mate makes that turns their world upside down. This was a great read, and held my interest throughout. I will be definitely recommending this book to my library patrons, as well as recommending that this book be a high priority for our book clubs..
Thank You to NetGalley, Harper Collins Publishers and J. A. Jance for allowing me to read this advanced digital copy of Missing And Endangered for an honest review.

I’m a huge fan of this series and this story in my opinion was one of the better ones. The characters are wonderful and the storylines never disappoint. The mystery and suspense surrounding the cases suck you in and keep you on your toes. Not to mention the twists and surprises that get thrown in. If you love a good police drama make sure you add this to your list.

One of the best in the Sheriff Joanna Brady series, this book follows two storylines, one involving her daughter at college trying to help her naive roommate dealing with a deadly stalker, and the other features a murder that puts two young children at risk of going into foster care.

The book is fast-paced, and kept my interest throughout. Five stars!

Another amazing book by JA Jance! I have read all of the books in the Joanna Brady series but must have missed the last book as there were a couple surprises for me! I thought the ending of the book, with Jenny's announcement, was a great twist and can't wait to read future books to see how the story line plays out. Thank you to both NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy. This will be a fan favorite for sure!!
