I plowed through the first 3/4 of this series (only the one before this on was disappointing) so I was very excited to get an advanced copy of this one. Unfortunately, I’m struggling really hard with this one. I will probably come back and finish it eventually, but it’s just not a compelling read.

This is the 7th book with DI Gina Harte as the main character. I would definitely recommend reading the previous six so you know the back story to Gina.
Two girls find a body on their way to a Halloween party. Gina and her team have to figure out who the victim is before another body is found. The killer also draws attention to Gina during the investigation so she has to deal with her issues and still try to solve a murder.
Great read and can’t wait for book eight.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another fantastic five star read from this author and another gripping addition to the Detective Gina Hart series. Action, terror, red herrings and misdirection. I devoured this book in one sitting and finally turned the last page in the wee hours. The Coffin Killer is terrifying, cold and determined. Definitely not who I was expecting. The way the author portrays the killer and the story behind why they do what they do. Heartbraking and so powerful. Another book that ticked all my boxes and the first of her killers I was actually rooting for. Can't wait to read more. LOVED IT!!!!!
Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.

Another heart stopping case for DI Gina Harte, full of action, terror and red herrings. A rollercoaster ride of a police procedural. But not for the agoraphobic! I love the police characters in this series, they seem so real. Mrs O with her cakes for example. Whenever I see a Carla Kovach book, I know I'm in for a thrilling ride. Great series.

Newest book in the Gina Harte series. Someone is found after having been buried alive at Halloween, and Gina's team investigates. She also begins receiving letters that suggest a connection to her deceased abusive husband. Not bad, not great. 3.5 stars rounded to 4.

Warning... Karma May Well Come Back To Haunt You 👀

Whilst Their Silent Graves is part of the DI Harte series, if you've not read any of the others in the series, this will not effect your reading of this book.

It commences with recalling a past event, ⏮ 24 years ago, 27 Sept, the coffin makers memories of Terry's boasting and the abuse he's inflicted...

Fast forward ⏭ 12 years, Halloween... More haunting memories, which takes us through to the present time. An event that occurred whilst at school years earlier, is on the forefront of a someone's mind.

Present, DI Gina Harte and her team are investigating the discovery of a shallow grave, to find out this is not the only case of this kind... first impressions, they fear a serial killer is praying on their quiet town.

It's written mainly from the present, but does recall memories of an event 12 years earlier. Previous traumas are also brought to Gina's attention, at times leaving her questioning those close to her and how the perpetrator knows such details.
From the start to the end it keeps you gripped, the more you read, the more you don't want to put it down. A definite should read.

So good to have DI Gina Harte back again another brilliant, spooky read, full of twists and turns and I was gripped from the very first page, another brilliantly addictive psychological thriller.

This book has great characters with a nail biting edge of seat ending. I have no hesitation in recommending this addictive page turner.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read this brilliant book.

Their Silent Graves by Carla Kovach is another gripping episode in the Detective Gina Harte series. I always look forward to a book from this author. The story never falters and it’s always original. This time with a creepy Halloween vibe.
When two teenage girls are rushing to get to a Halloween party, they decide to take a shortcut through woodland. When they discover a shallow grave with a coffin and a string that leads to a bell. But the bell has no clapper. When they call the police overworked Detective Gina Harte is called to investigate and to her horror, they find a body. Someone has been buried alive. Then a few days later another body turns up buried alive. Gina knows she has a Serial Killer on her hands. So, there is a race against time before the killer strikes again.
Gina although overworked is in a happy place with her job and her on and off relationship with Briggs but her late husband Terry is not far from her mind. Especially when the killer in her latest case takes a personal interest in Gina sending her letters saying that she knows what she did regarding Terry. Gina must be careful as she also thinks that she is being followed by them
Thank you one again Bookouture and Netgalley for a copy Their Silent graves. Ms Kovach as done it again with another entertaining read. This is the best one yet. From the first page, this has a creepy vibe and had me hooked completely until the last page. Well done. 5 stars from me.

I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and voluntarily leaving my review.

Detective Gina is back again with a serial killer who is buried their victims alive in coffins. Gina is still dealing with the memories of her ex husband abuse when she receives mysterious letters about her ex husband that no ones knows about.
I like the setting is set aroundHalloween that it gives it a edge while I was reading I was more into who could be sending these letters more then the case she working on. I like Gina and her boss DCI Briggs relationship I just hope it won’t turn romantic but consider the baggage Gina has I don’t think she ready yet for romantic relationship.

Overall a good read.

Their Silent Graves by Carla Kovach is a gripping crime thriller that had me hooked from the start. Being buried alive is a nightmare for anybody, but it’s coming true for characters in this book. This is the 7th book in the DI Gina Harte series. I love this author and this series!! A must read for anybody who loves thriller.

“Their Silent Graves” was a book that kept me guessing until the very end. At parts I struggled as the story seemed to drag. The characters were very well developed and overall the story was very well written. This is my first book by this author, but it won’t be my last.

This is book #7 in the Gina Harte series. Whilst it is part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone book, although to understand the characters back stories I would recommend reading the others. I love Gina Harte’s character and have come to feel like I know her quite well over the last 6 books! Gina is a great detective, but has some pretty bad luck in her personal life. Her personal and work life comes clashing together in this book when Gina receives letters about her past, with information in which nobody else knows. She’s also on the case of a serial killer who is burying people alive in coffins. With all this happening around Halloween, this makes not only for a gripping murder read, but a scary one as well!!

Yet again, I was hooked by the time I was only a few chapters in! The setting of Halloween definitely gives the book a fearful edge to it and the idea of being buried alive was certainly enough to set my teeth on edge! This case obviously gets to Gina as well, triggering reminders of the abuse she suffered from her ex-husband. This is further exacerbated by receiving mysterious letters regarding him, and we are held in suspense throughout the book as to who could be not just the anonymous sender but who the killer was.

It was great to see so many of the usual characters back to help Gina solve the case as they do work well around her! I have to admit I do love the relationship between Gina and her boss, DCI Briggs, and am waiting patiently for them to finally make it as a couple. Unfortunately though, I think Gina is carrying too much personal baggage to commit to a ‘proper’ relationship yet, although I can live in hope! Gina’s fraught relationship with her daughter Hannah, was put on the back burner a little in this book to focus more on the crimes rather than homelife! I’m not Hannah’s biggest fan as I don’t like her attitude to her Gina or Gina’s job, so this was great for me, and it was also much more exciting to be right in the middle of all the action for much longer!

The storyline twisted and turned throughout, leaving you to try and kept up with the fast pace. I loved the Halloween storyline and it will make the perfect read around that time (although of course it can be read anytime!) It is packed full of mystery, suspense and fear, which kept me turning the pages until its conclusion! As usual, this author has given us another great instalment in this series, and I shall look forward to seeing what is next in store for DI Gina Harte! Would definitely recommend!

DI Gina Harte catches a case that brings back painful memories of her past with her abusive (now dead) husband, Terry. It’s Halloween and the ghosts and ghouls are out in force. A man, Alex, is found dead - buried alive in a coffin in the woods. The police have nothing to go on. Meanwhile, we are following a group of friends since high school who are clearly starting to fray at the edges. They are all hiding something in their past. Something terrible. When one of the group, Penny, goes missing they start to panic. Finally Penny’s husband reports her missing to the police.

When Gina realises that the group of friends all knew Alex in high school she is immediately suspicious. They are all lying and hiding things and she is determined to get to the bottom of it. At the same time someone who knows Gina’s background is sending her creepy messages about the case as if she should know what’s going on. Poor Gina’s nerves are almost shot and it is just as well her team has her back. They are a great bunch of characters that help bring these stories to life. This was a very suspenseful and tension filled story that ended on a rather sad note. But it did highlight just how damaging bullying behaviour can be.

DI Harte is back! I really love this series !Gina, Briggs, Jacob and all the characters in this series make these books great! I love the authors writing style she kept me interested and intrigued throughout the whole book. There is just enough suspense and mystery to keep you guessing til the final pages. DI Harte is on the search again for a serial killer and this time the killer hits a little close to home. You won't be disappointed with this series at all! I highly recommend this book and series to anyone who loves a great suspense novel. LOVED IT!!!

There is no harm in pulling a prank on someone. It's just a bit of fun, right? Well, yes it is as long as nobody gets hurt and everybody sees the funny side of it. You have to be able to know when enough is enough and if you fail to realize it then it's someone else's turn to interfere. But what if that does not happen??

Turning back clocks is not possible. You made your bed, now you have to lie in it, but was it all worth it...?

Another great part of this excellent series where DI Harte feels like she has arrived in her own worst nightmare.

Who can she trust? Who knows those things about her and uses them to torment her? One name pops into her mind. Can this be possible...?

The background is Halloween and the author created a creepy story that fits that time of the year perfectly.

Rooting through my bag of stars, I pull out 5 of them.

Thank you, Carla Kovach and Bookouture

Always very happy to see a new novel in the Gina Harte series and Their Silent Graves is another brilliant addition to an already fabulous series.

DI Gina Harte is called to investigate the shocking discovery of a shallow grave by two young girls on their way to a Halloween party but worse was to follow when it was realized that the victim had literally been buried alive.

For Gina it all becomes more personal when she receives letters from the perpetrator who for some unknown reason knows secrets from her past that she thought only she and one other close friend knew about.

Creepy, full of mystery and twists and with plenty of weird and wonderful suspects along the way I loved this novel and would definitely recommend.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for an ARC for my honest review.
Most definitely a 5star read for me.
