Dare To Be a Courageous Girl, by MariLee Parrish, is an absolutely adorable book that will inspire girls of all ages. The short passages are perfect for a girl’s busy life, but they are to the point and full of God’s word. The devotions are relevant and give practical guidance for dealing with life’s issues. Each day has a theme, or “dare,” that aims to build character and strength. Then the dare is backed up with how to apply it to your life and then a scripture verse that brings it all home. The graphics are fun and will draw girls into the devotion to help build the daily habit of reading God’s word. I highly recommend this book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Excellent. I wish I had had this devo when I was a tween and when my girls were tweens. It would have been great for our family Bible times together or for them individually.

I like that the devos begin with Scripture, then define the virtue (such as loving your neighbor, being kind, helping others know truth, letting God change you, perseverance, and many others). All the devos are phrased as DARE TO love your neighbor, DARE TO be kind, etc. After the definition, the devo goes on to show application of the virtue, a prayer to ask God to further develop that virtue in the girl, and then a challenge to actually go out and apply the virtue. The book includes space for the girl to write her thoughts or make a list of how to apply the virtue. Each day then ends with another verse from the Bible.

I highly recommend this book for those with girls 8-12 in their lives. In this world of militant feminism, it's nice to see a book emphasizing where true Girl Power can be found.

I gratefully received a free ARC digital copy of this book through NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest and voluntary opinion.

I'm always looking for books to give on Christmas and special occasions that will inspire or promote spirituality. Dare to Be a Courageous Girl - A Devotional Journal For Extraordinary Girls Growing in Faith by MariLee Parrish is a book I would be proud to give any young lady. This book is filled with a multitude of situations that any young girl could encounter and teaches the Christ-like way to respond. Some of the circumstances or actions the book addresses are Kindness, Thankfulness, Anger, Helping Others, Worship, Running from Sin, Following Jesus and Knowing your Purpose. These are just a few examples and there are many more.

What I especially like about the book is it’s format. This book is not meant to be raced through or read in a week. This book is to be savored by it’s recipient for the purpose of growing in light and goodness as an individual. Each Dare! is to be read thoughtfully and deliberately. Each Dare! offers a small reading of Scripture, followed by an explanation of the verse, a short prayer and a Challenge. The Challenge is where the young reader takes action. (A small notebook or diary would make a nice accompanying gift.) For younger readers, a little help with finding Scripture passages in the Bible may be needed, but what a wonderful way to discuss the contents of a particular Dare! In addition, I also love the animated image of a young girl dressed as a superhero. Superheroes are typically positive images and this image I believe is meant to empower young girls to be champions for Christ. Dare to Be a Courageous Girl - A Devotional Journal For Extraordinary Girls Growing in Faith by MariLee Parrish is truly a remarkable book that anyone would be proud to give as a gift. With the holidays approaching if you are looking for ideas for that special young one in your life consider Dare to Be a Courageous Girl - A Devotional Journal For Extraordinary Girls Growing in Faith. A beautiful book that is spiritually thought provoking and sure to stay with it’s reader for a lifetime.

I want to thank Barbour Publishing (Shiloh Kidz) and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy of Dare to Be a Courageous Girl - A Devotional Journal For Extraordinary Girls Growing in Faith by MariLee Parrish. “Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.”

This isn't your typical wimpy, little fill-in-the blank journal. It is full and meaty. No one will sit down and fill the whole thing out in one setting like some journals my kids have used.

Oh my goodness! I am 100% going to be buying these books for my girls for Christmas!!!! (in fact, before I wrote this review, I went to add it to wishlist in Amazon for our Christmas wishlist!! I don't want to forget since it doesn't come out for a another couple of months).

I love the challenges, and the thought provoking words. I think my girls and any little girls (and bigger girls) would love this book! If you have smaller girls, then read it to them and write their thoughts down for them, and if they're big enough to write themselves, then I think they'd enjoy doing it. This is the perfect thing for moms and dads to do with their children and give them quality time together, and connect with Jesus, too!

I know this book was meant for young people but, I feel this works for adults as well. I loved this journal/devotional style book. Each topic of it has a scripture for that topic it addresses as well as a relevant paragraph giving an example. It then has a section to write in on the topic. Just to add an extra push it gives us a challenge regarding the topic with more space under it to write on the challenge for yourself. I love this book so much! I feel it is a great time to be doing reflection about who we are in this world and more. I even think it is good for those who do not like to read and write because the reading section are quick and easy to read and someone else could write it for you or even discuss. The topics are important to being a well rounded courageous human as well.

This book was perfect for my daughter it gives her a lesson based on the Bible with scripture. It then asks her to look on her own relationship with God and apply the lesson. It teaches her to pray to him. I loved this devotional.

This is a devotional journal with a scripture and then small writing prompt. I'd like to see longer prompts with more substance as this mostly just leaves lines for kids to write on.

The scriptures are well-chosen and the formatting is spot-on.
