I received a copy of this book to review from Netgalley. Thank you for the opportunity.
This book is a sweet romance with some steamy moments. It has very descriptive prose and a slow build romance. It is particularly appealing to animal lovers as there is multiple references to animal welfare. I particularly enjoyed the references to Wisconsin as it is clear the author has a great love for the area and it shows throughout the book. The character are deep and well throughout through. The family aspect of the main characters was also nice to read.
However at times it felt like the author was tryong to create the perfect man and perfect woman thereby taking some of the credibility away from the book. It also felt that other people e.g. So called girly girls were looked down upon and seen as negative. The romantic scenes had antiquated words used which made it odd and strange to read.
On the whole, a good book.

Catrina “Cat” Carneri enjoys her job at the wild life rehabilitation center where she works to solicit grants for the center’s funding. Well, she did until Dr. Rose O’Brien was made the director and for some reason Rose has taken a dislike to Cat. When Dr. Damon MacGregor arrives at the center with a wounded crane, both he and Cat share an instant attraction. Damon has been careful with women since the first woman he was serious about cheated on him and dumped him. In my opinion, there was an enormous amount of details that did nothing for the actual story, but only added length to the book. For two adults entering in to an affair, the dialog seemed stilted and awkward, i.e. “his hand on her erogenous organ”. What? This story reminded me of the romances from decades ago. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

Canoodling Up North brought me to a world that celebrates love, passion, and overcoming obstacles. Following "Cat" throughout her journey, I was captivated in each moment. Even though this book is fiction, Canoodling Up North supports women's' life choices while giving an equal opportunity to support healthy relationships. I highly recommend Canoodling Up North for anyone who is looking for a good read to get lost in.

This started out a bit slow for me. Decent representation of the north woods of Wisconsin. The steamy scenes were....interesting...some of the word choices were oddly old fashioned for how graphic the scene was. I love a good graphic scene but using words like "woman's mound" in them just was really odd. I think this could have been made better with a little bit more on developing the characters and pacing to give a better flow to the story.
