A typical Sherlock Holmesy style detective novel that has you in splits. The tale told from the protagonist's POV has you as surprised, interested, and investigative as the central actor itself. Every episode is as gripping and exciting as the previous one, and the account only continues to get better and better. I literally couldn't hold myself from reading it on an asap basis; it is utterly captivating. The fast-paced narrative has you on your toes.

I know I have made a straight jump into volume six of the series; but, I don't think I must have missed anything from the past books, other than the character relations, as every story idea appeared to be different. The book has a perfect cozy ambiance wherein you sneak into your quilt with a cup of hot cocoa and solely delve into their environment. The book's name, cover, and blurb flawlessly blend with the overall end product.

There is so much to like about this book. The whole garden thing is interesting and different. I don't think I have ever read a book with that theme. I like the characters and their interactions. I felt sorry for Lauren. Keeping up with the Jones is never easy. The store and cafe sound amazing. The mystery has some good twists and turns. I was entertained!

Another hit! Gemma tries hard not to get involved in another murder but how to say no to an 11 year old. With twists and turns you'll be kept guessing. Another enjoyable read in an awesome series!!

I usually try to read series in order but had only read the first one in this series. However, I liked it so much, I decided to request an ARC of the newest in the series when NetGalley and the publisher offered it. The author does a good job with the character development and the description of the bookstore and Moriarty, the cat. She gives enough backstory that incidents in the plot make sense, but I am now going back to read #2-#5!

In this next in series Gemma starts out finding a missing cat for a heartbroken little girl who ask her for her help. She locates the cat with the help of her trusty canine companion who finds the cat hiding in a shed. After the happy reunion the little girl returns asking Gemma to clear her Mother of murder. As Gemma cannot possibly turn her down she becomes involved in the case and finds its a garden club rival and the Mother is suspect number one. Gemma has to use all her sleuthing skills with the help of Jayne. Much to the chagrin of her detective boyfriend she plows on through the many clues, red herrings and history of the two women to find out how to clear the Mothers name and return her home to her daughter.

I enjoy this well crafted series with great charcters. The Sherlock Holmes Bookstore is added fun and done to perfection. This is a enjoyable series and a great addition for this series.

“A Curious Incident" is the 6th instalment in "A Sherlock Holmes Bookshop" Mystery series by Vicki Delany. I believe this is the first book I have read in the series, and it can easily be read as a standalone but I recommend reading in order. I have since purchased a few in the series.

The story is entertaining as well as humorous which is the perfect combination. The setting of West London in Cape Cod is idyllic I love books set by the sea with a small town feel. The idea of a tea room and bookstore as the main characters business was fantastic being two of my favourite things. I loved the characters of Gemma and BFF Jayne along with Moriarty the bookstore cat and Violet the dog. I really liked the interaction between Gemma and Lauren and hope we see her again in future books.

The mystery is interesting and well plotted, with enough twists to keep you interested. I kept guessing and second-guessing myself on whodunnit right to the very end. I recommend this book to all my cozy lover friends.

Gemma Doyle tries to convince eleven-year-old Lauren Tierney that she isn't a consulting detective and can't help her find her lost kitten Snowball. But Lauren's aunt Irene has told Lauren all kinds of stories about her friend. Lauren really doesn't want to disappoint Lauren but she also doesn't want to disappoint a child. She promises to keep on the look out for the cat. Imagine her surprise when she locates the cat while walking her dog Violet.

So, naturally, when Lauren's mother is accused of murdering her rival in the West London Garden Club, Lauren comes to ask for Gemma's help. The only problem is that Gemma isn't at all convinced that Lauren's mother Sheila didn't kill Anna Wentworth. She didn't get a very good impression of Sheila when she returned Lauren's cat. Her opinion is that Sheila is both self-centered and neglects her daughter.

Her uncertainty of Sheila's innocence is only one problem. Things are going better with her police detective boyfriend Ryan Ashburton. She doesn't want to jeopardize their relationship by interfering in his case. However, her curiosity is aroused and she keeps stumbling onto clues that her boyfriend doesn't have.

There are plenty of other suspects. Sheila's husband has been accused of having an affair with Anna and he is certainly estranged from Sheila. Than there is Anna's husband who has been out of work for a year but still manages to make frequent trips to Las Vegas. Or maybe the gardener who helped with Anna's award-winning garden was just a little too close to Anna.

The more Gemma investigates the more secrets she uncovers and someone has certainly noticed. When her friend Jayne drinks some lemonade intended for Gemma, she becomes very ill and needs to have her stomach pumped and is hospitalized. Gamma becomes even more determined to find out who murdered Anna.

This was an engaging story. I really like Gemma who has a talent for observation when watching others but isn't equally knowledgeable about herself. I like her relationship (or lack of one) with bookstore cat Moriarty and her devotion to her dog Violet.

This is the sixth book in the series and there are some hints about earlier cases. I don't think that it is necessary to have read earlier books to enjoy this one. I think that many people will want to catch up on Gemma's other adventures after meeting her here.

Delightful characters, snappy banter, red herrings, and a steady pace make this an engaging read.

I enjoyed this newest book in this series. How can go you wrong with an all things Sherlock Holmes bookstore and an owner who is able to figure out the mysteries? This time it involves finding a cat, a missing parent and of course a murder.

The 6th book in the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery series finds Gemma and friends back from London, and enjoying high summer tourist season on Cape Cod. Business is very brisk, but Gemma continues to leave the shop whenever she feels the urge, which I find annoying at times, as I do her imperial, bossy attitude. First, she helps a young girl find her missing cat, and then she gets caught up in trying to clear that young girl's mother of a murder charge. A local gardener was murdered, and it appears that jealousy and greed between former friends is the reason for all the problems. Thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for providing an ARC.

A Curious Incident is the sixth installment of the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery series and one of my favorites. In this mystery, bookshop owner, Gemma Doyle, finds herself investigating the death of a local gardener who was a huge part of the West London Garden Club. Usually Gemma ends up finding the body and inserting herself into the case, but this time around she is enlisted by Lauren, the main suspects 11 year old daughter, to help clear her mom's name.

I really enjoyed this cozy mystery, just like I have this whole series. The character's are engaging and funny, the West London setting is quaint and inviting and the mystery itself is intriguing and fun to follow. I really did love A Curious Incident and would definitely recommend this series to anyone looking for a cozy mystery, Sherlockian or not. I am very much looking forward to the next installment in this fun series.

This is book number six in the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery series.

I struggled a bit with this book, mainly because I can't bring myself to like the main character. I think she's meant to be just quirky, but she comes off as really unsympathetic. I did like the other characters, and the mystery itself is good.

Gemma seemed like a different person in this book - more empathic, in my opinion; she comes to meet an inquisitive young girl named Lauren, with whom she immediately takes a liking too. Lauren first wants Gemma's help with a missing pet, then getting her mom off the hook for murder! Of course, Gemma doesn't want to get involved and yet somehow does :)

*Spoiler Alert* - Jayne gets engaged to Andy at the end of this book and I am so excited to see them plan their wedding and if Gemma will want a marriage proposal of her own from the hunky Ryan.

I love this series - honest and true, it's fab! A Curious Incident, Vicki Delany's 6th Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery, finds bookshop owner Gemma Doyle once again up to her eyeballs in murder (through no fault of her own, it just seems to find her!!!), and when an 11 year-old girl first asks her to find her missing kitten, then clear her mother of murder, Gemma is hard-pressed to say no. As usual, Ms. Delany's writing is very fast-paced and enjoyable, and I was absorbed in the mystery right up to the end! A+++

I love cozy mysteries and have read hundreds! I've read the first few books in this series, but missed the last 2 books. But I was still able to enjoy this book, even with not being familiar with the last book. It's a fun story, a regular cozy mystery, that was fun ad relaxing to read. I could put it down for the night, but I was also excited to see what happened next.

Snowball is missing and Gemma is not getting involved, famous last words, a wonderful start to the 6th book in the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mysteries. Snowball found, next step is “not” solving a murder of a West London Garden Club member. Following Gemma’s thought process is always a treat, and “A Curious Incident” does not disappoint. Perfect plot, and I was blinded sided by the culprit.
You don’t have to have read the other books to enjoy this one. It’s page turner from beginning to end.

Gemma Doyle, her friend Jayne and the crew at the Sherlock Holmes bookshop and Mrs. Hudson's Tea Shop are back for another adventure. Gemma gets inadvertently dragged into another mystery when a young girl tries to hire her to find her missing kitten. Gemma accidentally does stumble upon the cat so naturally, when the girl's mother disappears and is suspected of murder, Gemma can't resist.

The setting for the murder has to do with the local garden club. Competitive to an extraordinary level, the local group will vandalize, and evidently, even kill to claim the grand prize.

Gemma has to step in when the girl's mother runs away and her father is out of town on business. By this time she has become quite attached to young Lauren and is disgusted by her parents' lack of caring and responsibility. At the same time, she is trying to track down the real killer. Was this garden club jealousy? An affair? A business related killing? Gemma sifts through the evidence in her usual cool and logical way to find out the answer. 3.75* Gemma Doyle insists that she's not a consulting detective, but the folks in her small town of West London know she's as close as. The proprietress of the Sherlock Holmes themed book store, she accidentally found the cat that 11 yr old Lauren said was missing. Then Lauren asked for help in proving her mother innocent of murder. She can't very well refuse, now can she? So we get this enjoyable, easy to read cozy mystery. I like the setting and the characters. Appreciate the dogs and cats that our characters have too. While this is the 6th book in this series, it's only the 2nd one I've read. Don't think one really has to read it all in a row. It does reference some incident from months ago that I presumed was detailed in previous books. But it really has no bearing to what happens here. Recommended for Holmes-loving cozy fans.

A Curious Incident is the sixth installment in Vicki Delany's Sherlock Holmes Bookshop series. I have read and own all of the previous five novels, and immediately requested this copy when I saw it on NetGalley.

The novel starts with 11 year old Lauren Tierney requesting assistance from our heroine Gemma Doyle in finding her missing kitten. Even though Gemma tells Lauren that she is not a consulting detective, she does find the kitten, but very soon after Lauren is back. Only this time, she needs Gemma to save her mom from a murder charge.

I love every one of the characters, and I hope Lauren is brought into future novels. She was such an adorable addition, and gave a new side to Gemma that I would not have thought the reader would see. I'm still waiting for the knock down, drag out fight between Gemma and Louise Estrada, and there was one scene in particular that I didn't care for Ryan's tone. But I believe the emotion it invoked in me means that the author has made the story relatable and empathetic. Which makes the novel more than just a story, but a whole new world.

The only thing that bothered me while reading this novel were the few grammar errors, and the name of Lauren's mother. I have a rough e-copy, so I hope that someone is proof-reading the novel before the final prints are made. Is it Shelia or Sheila? I will be honest, it only bothered me so much because it's my mother's name.

After reading that ending, I am so excited for the next book and just cannot wait patiently. Overall I rate this novel 5 out of 5 stars.
