Tidings of Joy is a sweet romance with a bit of a mystery. Oh how wonderful to spend the holidays in a town such as Evergreen! The characters were endearing and it felt like they had become old friends. This story is told from several different points of view which I thoroughly enjoy. Getting multiple views deepens the characterization in my opinion. This book pulled me in from the first page and I had a hard time putting it down. Now I need to read the two before it.

A trip back to Evergreen, Vermont means a light, fun read to get in the Christmas spirit where there is always a sense of community, fun Christmas activities, and magic in the air. Katie in from New York City and needs a break, a vacation to gather new ideas for her next book so she takes the Evergreen Express leaving Penn Station going to Evergreen. Ben is from Evergreen and heading home from the city when he and Katie meet on the train. Ben is a former journalist now working in the town library for his grandmother Nan. Katie loves the Evergreen and is quick to make new friends while joining in with cookie making, tree decorating, skating on the pond, building snowmen, visit Christmas tree farms, and more. One of the local attractions to the local as well as tourists is the famous snow globe in the cafe' where one makes wishes on it that come true. There is a time capsule that is rumored to be in the town somewhere but no one seems to know where it is until it is stumbled on accidentally. Wonderful things happen in Evergreen where people go to visit and some even stay for good. It was fun to visit and see people again and see romance is in the air along with the Christmas spirit. Katie and Ben are drawn to each other as well but her life is in the city and his is in Evergreen. Can anything bring them together? This is another great Christmas in this magical small town.

Nancy Naigle writes heartwarming, fun romances. When you add Christmas to that list, you come out with a perfect novel for the holiday season. If you’ve been keeping up with the “Christmas in Evergreen” series, you’ll be delighted to meet up with old friends from Evergreen and enjoy meeting new ones. I enjoyed reading Ben and Katie’s story and the way the Evergreen “magic” brought them together. I know that this story is based on a Hallmark movie, but I have to tell you—-this author’s books are always better than the movie. You get to know the characters so much better in the book. If you are looking for a sweet story to read during a busy holiday season, this is the one. But be warned: This one will have you craving peppermint hot chocolate and sugar cookies!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Nancy Naigle has become the Queen of taking Hallmark movies and translating them into book form. Despite the fact I’ve seen the movie, reading the book still feels as warm and cozy to me as if I didn’t know the story. I’d say that is the sign of a good writer.

In her latest book, we see Katie taking the scenic trip from New York City to the town of Evergreen (the setting of several other books and movies) by train. Katie is a writer looking to get some rest and relaxation and inspiration for a second book. On the train she meets Ben, a former NYC reporter turned Evergreen librarian who informs Katie the things that make Evergreen so special. It doesn’t take long for Katie to understand what Ben has told her, but is this place really too good to be true? After her editor mother requests Katie write an article on the town, will she be able to write with the critical eye that she requires? Having had several negative articles written by other journalists in the past, Ben is feeling very protective about the town he calls home.

Evergreen has a unique history, and this is the year that the town needs to find the key to opening the time capsule which was sealed up fifty years ago. This provides a context for the story which includes many activities we have associated with Christmas. The community absolutely loves Christmas, and eats and breathes it during the season. For those that have read any other books (or seen the Hallmark movies) set in Evergreen, you will understand the small town charm that oozes from its citizens: the reason why many that visit never leave.

I love to read these books and watch Christmas movies and 2020 only makes me want it more. I’d love to be transported to Evergreen for a stay and this book allows me to feel as though I have. The characters are well developed, likeable and the story engaging. Although this book is not officially part of a series, there is a history in Evergreen that continues from the earlier books. I love how several romances transpire during the length of the book and Hallmark really does this well. What I really appreciated, though, was the added bonus of the time capsule: what it unlocks is simply magical.

I am a big fan of Nancy Naigle. I caught this series of stories on Hallmark during the Christmas in July special they ran this summer. While reading this story I could picture the characters and their exchanges like I was watching it on TV.

This book definitely gives you all of the sweet feelings that you expect from the holidays and the best town to give you that feeling is none other than Evergreen! There must be some Christmas magic going on!

I'm really enjoying the "Christmas in Evergreen" books & movies. I like getting to know new characters of the town of Evergreen and revisiting familiar faces from past stories. Another winner for me. Standard Hallmark Christmas fair but always enjoyable to put you in the holiday spirit!

Thank you for the chance to review this new novel.

I'm sorry to say that this was not a book for me :( I was bored and actually put it down. I think the movie is better for me in just this case.

Christmas in Evergreen, Tidings of Joy returns to the Christmas magic of friends and traditions. Hope and love.

City girl Katie and Evergreen resident Ben meet on the train. Learning that she is a reporter, puts Ben in a skeptic mode, but he soon discovers that Katie falls in love with Evergreen, with all it's warmth and welcoming.

As only Hallmark and Nancy Naigle can do, this was a fun story. I didn't see the movie but I think the book is delightful. I enjoyed the characters and the way the mysteries were discovered. I loved visiting Evergreen. And of course I loved how the love story played out. A magical story about a magical place. It's always Christmas in Evergreen.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Hallmark Publishing and NetGalley. All views expressed are my honest opinion.

What a joyful book to read. I have seen the movie of this book and loved it, so there was no doubt that I wouldn’t love this as well. This was a day read for me and it was a day well spent.
It was so nice to be back in Evergreen again and meeting up with all the characters from before. In this book Katie comes to Evergreen to have a vacation and get inspiration for her next novel. On the train she accidently bumps in a gentleman and there is a spark, his name is Ben. He offers a life to her B&B but she decides to walk as she needs to get a phone cable. As she walks into town she is greeted by various locals.
This novel is about Katie realising that there are people who are genuinely welcoming and thoughtful and the friendships she makes in Evergreen. There is also the story of Evergreen celebrating 50 years of their Christmas Festival.
I don’t want to say anymore, as I don’t want to spoil the story. This is a book you should read snuggled up in a comfy chair, with the Christmas tree lights twinkling, candles flickering, the fire crackling (if possible) and a hot cuppa in your hand. Will I be watching the movie again this holiday season? Absolutely.

Oh, how I loved being back in Evergreen again:) Such a magical place to be, especially at Christmas time! It's no wonder some of Nancy Naigle's stories are turned into movies, they're that good. I so enjoyed how the whole village and its guests come together to make new memories and embrace the old. I also loved the idea of the 50 year old time capsule!!

As you read the words to the story, you can't help but picture it all in your mind and wish you were there. The decorations, the cookies, skating, snowman building, the snow globe, etc, it all makes it so very magical. I truly loved everything about this book!!!!

This story is mainly about Katie and Ben but you also get other romances as well....between Michelle and Thomas and Hannah and Elliot:) I adored all the characters and how the author makes everything work out.

I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Fans of the Hallmark Movie may enjoy this book however I found it to be very poorly written and lacking in any sort of character development.

I recieved this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this movie when it came out on Hallmark Channel last Christmas, especially since Maggie Lawson from Psych (Greatest Detective Show Ever) played the main lead.

I wish I could say the same for this novelize version of the story. Instead of going more in-depth with the characters, the story fell flat, just a retelling, nothing more. This was a bit of a disappointment and I felt a little overwhelmed with at least four to five views which narrates the story. To many characters, I felt like to understand what was really going on.

However, I feel like this book would have been better if I hadn't seen the movie to begin with. In that case, it was a nice enough Christmas novel worthy of three stars.

I recommend this book for all ages but I also recommend watching the movie. Maybe book first and then movie.

Christmas in Evergreen: Tidings of Joy by Nancy Naigle is a festive story of community, family and finding your place. Set in December, Katie Connell, an author and freelance writer is on her way north for a few days of rest and relaxation and possibly inspiration for her yet unfinished second novel. She is headed to Evergreen, Vermont, a veritable Christmas village that a recent article had praised as a must-see. On the train north, she meets Ben Baxter, a resident of Evergreen. Through Ben, Katie discovers that Evergreen more than meets her expectations and she is swept up in the magic and mystery of the town.

Christmas in Evergreen is a sweet story, based on the Hallmark movie of the same name. It's a festive, sweet and exactly the sort of place I would love to visit someday. The story is part of a series, so some characters had already been introduced in previous stories. So if you want to know more, I'd recommend reading the previous novels. But it was still fun to encounter these characters and learn a little more about them and the town.

I found this to be a fun, light-hearted story that embodies the festive spirit of the holidays and would love to revisit it any time.

Note: I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via NetGalley and the publishers.

no matter how you feel about all the Christmas books that come out, this is one of the most uplifting I have read this season. Characters appear from the previous book and while the reader isn't well-reminded of who they are, it doesn't matter. A joy of a book. It's always nice when everything turns out well.
