Such a wonderful Christmas book perfect one the holiday season or whenever. The characters were really complex and wonderful friendship and love abounds.

This is a well-written book for people who enjoy a story that's wrapped up in Christmas. The themes are darker than I expected, given Cole's past. I just couldn't get past Sophie's violation in reading all of Cole's journal. It's one thing to look through it to see if there's anything to identify the owner, but to read it cover to cover? That's just unforgivable. DNF.

A lovely and emotional sweet Christmas story that is filled with hope made this a book that I truly loved. So well-written and so poignant, because there are many vets who go through the horrors from their service. This story is about hope of finding yourself again and finding love again and believing that you are not the monster that you have built up in your mind. Loving and good people make this a story that will make you feel good. I highly recommend this book.

Cole is a former US Marine that has deep, unseen scars. After returning from overseas he becomes a firefighter. Sophie finds his journal in a box of stuff Cole donated to the church for a rummage sale. After reading Cole's journal she tries to return it to him but Cole does not want it and wants nothing to do with Sophie. Can Sophie make Cole realize there is more to him than a wounded soul? This is a great story not only about the Christmas spirit but about redemption and the power of love.

Janice Lynn has created a great brooding hero firefighter that has moved to Sophia's home town of Pine Hill, Kentucky. She finds his journal in a box of books donated to the community center and knows what he's going through. The town is celebrating the Christmas spirit as best they can with many families planning to do without toys and food. A feel good story to warm your heart. A Hallmark Christmas special. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I listened to the audiobook of this one this holiday season! Thankfully due to the two POV (each main character) they had two narrators, one male and one female. Both narrators did a great job, but hearing them imitate the other in their own take on a masculine/feminine voice was a bit hard to stomach at times.

I am a huge fan of all things holiday, and all Christmasy romances books, and movies. I was looking forward to this one, but unfortunately for me it felt flat. For such a recently published book, the characters were not modern whatsoever. The male main character was an ex-military man who was so concerned over his macho ego, and pride, that it got in his way constantly. The female main character was a classic caregiver who devoted all of her time to church, fundraising, and was ready to change her man to get him down the aisle.

I really wish I had more happy things to say about this one, but it was hard to get involved in their romance, to me it felt antiquated and toxic. I had wished the male MC had taken time to process his PTSD and make steps toward therapy etc., where also I'd hoped the female MC had been a stronger woman on her own, and had stood her ground more when around her love interest.

Sophie Davis is no stranger to the pain that PTSD can bring to soldiers and their families. When she discovers a journal mixed in with the other donations, she is sure that it was donated by mistake and starts to read it to discover who it belongs to in order to return it to them. Imagine her surprise when she discovers that the journal belongs to none other than the aloof and handsome new fireman in town, Cole Aaron. As she reads she discovers a well of hidden pain and suffering in Cole's past. Sophie works tirelessly with her organization Quilts of Valor to make quilts for soldiers who are suffering from PTSD. Sophie just knows that if she can make a quilt for Cole, it will help him to heal from the painful things he experienced in the past. This sweet romance is a perfect Christmas read with lots of heart as well as hope and healing.
I requested this book because I was looking to add some clean holiday books to my library. I was immediately touched and felt that this book had come to me at the perfect time when I read the dedication to the Kimberlin family who had lost their lives in the Tennessee tornadoes. I had many mutual friends with Josh and Erin Kimberlin and their loss was greatly felt among my friends who knew them. I feel this book will bring healing to many.

This is the perfect, heart-touching story to read during the holiday season. This story will draw you in from the very beginning, and will have you thinking “I need to read just one more chapter”. The setting of Pine Hill, Kentucky, is everything you’d want in a small-town Christmas story. The romance that begins between Cole and Sophie will have you cheering them on to claim their happily-ever-after. I’m hoping that there will be another book set in Pine Hill that includes these characters.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This book is a sweet, feel good story that takes place in Kentucky during the holiday season. Two people are brought together when a journal is given to a charity event by accident. Cole Aaron is newly out of the military and new resident of Pine Hill. He had a traumatic event in Afghanistan and is now a firefighter in the small town. Sophie Davis has always lived in Pine Hill. She is going through a box given to her church charity where she finds the journal. She is able to find the owner of the journal by a Christmas card that was in the box. She had already read the journal and was drawn to the writer, feeling his pain. Her own father had a terrible experience during Desert Storm and eventually left his family. Cole doesn't want to have anything to do with Sophie or anyone else on a deep basis actually feeling unworthy. Thrown together by his buddies at the firehouse, the two work on a toy drive together. Sophie's joy and happiness wear on Cole's rough shell over time.
While this is a great holiday read, it is a good book to read anytime for an uplifting and touching story with a mild inspirational thread running through it.
I received a complimentary ARC from Hallmark Publishing through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine only.

As a fan of the Quilts of Valor program, I was so happy to see it getting some exposure through this holiday novel with a good, clean plot and characters who sound like the sort of people I come across in my own small town.

I enjoyed getting to know these characters and also appreciated the fact that their faith was a part of their everyday lives. It was nice to see firefighters getting some much-needed respect as well.

Would love to see more good, clean romances and cozies, and this was one that should please a lot of readers.

A sweet read for Christmas time! Lynn's story offers a lighthearted read with a feel-good message, but underneath there is a reminder that many suffer during the holiday season and throughout. I laughed and cried during this book. Definitely recommend!

Complementary copy given for honest review and opinion! Opinions are of my own. This book was a sweet romance with such deep feelings of veterans coming home. I loved the theme of the book. I loved the sweetness of the book. It was one that I would allow my teenagers to read without worries.

Sophie reads a ex-marine’s journal. He then shows up in her small town. They develop a liking for each other but he refuses to do anything about it for fear of hurting her. I really liked the story line but thought the flirting without anything happening dragged on a bit too long. I wanted to know what was said in the journal. I liked that this was an easy, light read for the holidays. I will definitely read more of her books.

Sophie found a private journal in a donation box of books that belonged to the towns new firefighter. Cole is a veteran and shared his inner most thoughts in that journal. No one was supposed to read it. When Sophie tries to return it she is met with a cold shoulder. She cant help that she has already started falling for Cole.

Thank you for this ARC NetGalley.
