this felt like a unique take on the vampire novel, I really liked the way the vampires worked and enjoyed getting to know the characters.

Since everything I’ve learned about vampires comes from the classic movie by Roman Polanski, The Fearless Vampire Killers, I was looking forward to reading Sydney Winward’s Bloodbond.

I wasn’t disappointed. Bloodbond has the feels, not something I was prepared for, but this was the best part of reading this book.

It was fascinating to find that vampires fall into classes, and feral vampires (Let’s say ferals are uncontrolled eaters) are low class, not fit to associate with higher, more refined vampires. Zachariah Degore, the hero, is a feral vampire who’s been locked away for ten years. He’s starting over––one of my favorite themes, by the way––and crushes on Laurel Covaci, who’s out of his league. It is painful and sweet to witness him struggling to overcome his reputation as a feral.

How Zachariah and Laurel come together in this romance is the fun part, of course, with all the hesitation and insecurity any human experiences while dating. Or courting, as they so quaintly put it. Zachariah is vulnerable and eager; Laurel is mocking, but not without her own insecurities.

Along the way, following both Laurel and Zachariah’s stories, I got to meet Dracula himself, and learn some interesting tidbits about vampire strength, their ability to heal quickly, and how important finding the right partner is for them. They mate for life and the wrong match can be deadly.

I wanted to read outside my usual genre, and I’m glad I did. I plan to branch out again because I thoroughly enjoyed this romp in the eerie and surprisingly familiar world Sydney Winward has crafted so well.

I received this book from Netgalley and am voluntarily reviewing it. This is an honest and thoughtful assessment of Bloodbond.

This was a one sitting read. The story focused on Zach and Laurel, both from different worlds. Zach fell in love at first glimpse yet will Laurel feel the same? This was a very good romance. You will experience a wealth of emotions and cheer on the two potential love birds. It is the second book of the series but a stand alone.

Sadly, this book was not for me. In consequence, I have decided not to finish it. For that reason, I will not be posting a review on Goodreads or any other platform.

Bloodbond is a fabulous new series that left me exhilarated and wanting more. I thoroughly enjoyed the new twists on vampire lore and the original story line that enthralled me every step of the way. I am always looking for excellent new authors who can offer a fun and intriguing new twist, and I found one within this book.

Zach is a new vampire desperate to make his way and to find his place in his new world. As he begins this new journey of life, he finds that he can't be learn fast enough to quench his unending thirst for knowledge. Then, he finds another emptiness in his soul that he longs to fill, and only one female can fill it for him. Can he win her attention and then her affection, it will he find this challenge one that he cannot hope to win?

I couldn't have loved Zach more with his open vulnerability and his sweet and honest heart. He just wants to find his place, and perhaps even find love along the way. Laurel has lived a long and complicated life, and she isn't sure she is ready for more. However, Zach doesn't ask for her permission as he crashes through the strong defenses around her heart. He is playing for keeps and not for fun, so there is nothing he won't do to catch and keep his love. I love his fierce and loving determination to win her heart and her love.

Sydney Winward is a new to me author, but I have enjoyed savoring her beautifully complex and wonderfully enchanting characters. I loved every moment I spent with the pages of this book. It was refreshing and amazing. Now, I want to know what happens next!

I recieved a copy of this book to review from Netgalley. Thank you for the opportunity.
This book gives an interesting take on the typical vampire YA trope. The world is crafted well with a wide range of interesting characters including Dracula. The writing is good and draws you in quickly. The pace is a little slow but gives plenty of time for character development. This is the second book in the series but it can be read as a stand alone.
However, I would have preferred a faster pace with more action as the book was slow at times.
I would also like to read Dracula's backstory as it was described in parts throughout the book.
On the whole this was an interesting book and I would recommend it for fans of the vampire world.
