I absolutely loved this book. For me, the story was realistic and gripping. There are plenty of reviews that go into the story of what happened so I won't repeat that but I highly recommend this book if you're into analysing the psychological aspects of a thriller and you're looking for a page-turning and utterly gripping read.

With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the arc, which I have enjoyed reading.
I Know What I Saw by S K Sharp was a crime thriller, the crime happened when Nicola Walker was sixteen and madly in love with Declan Robbins. Nicola has a perfect memory and can recall everything that has happened to her. The night that Declan’s father disappears was the night of his 50th Birthday party in the Mary Shelley. Arthur Robbins disappeared on the Sunday 9th June 1985, His body is discovered many years later in ‘Wordsworth Park.
Declan is charged with his father’s murder. Nicola and Declan had in the intervening years married, divorced and last spoke ten years ago. Declan is asking Nicola for her help to prove that he didn’t kill his nasty, physically and sexually abusive father. The storyline is about what happened that night and the years after and explores who could have killed Arthur Robbins and why.

This book focuses on Nicola, who has a condition where she has a perfect memory (hyperthymesia). In 1985, her now ex husband's dad, Arty, goes missing. Now, they have found his body & have arrested her ex husband for his murder. Nicola has to use her memory to help prove his innocence.

Sadly this book wasn't for me. One big thing for me was that I really didn't like Nicola. She jumped to conclusions far too quickly about who had murdered Arty. I found the story really repetitive and it really dragged, taking too long to get to what really happened. When we did get to what actually happened back in 1985, I just felt really underwhelmed. There was no major twist unfortunately. I also thought that after Nicola had been divorced from her ex husband for 20+ years she just dropped everything and put her life on hold to help him which i found really odd.

Interesting concept but just not for me. I hate to write a negative review, but feel I need to be honest & this was just my opinion, as I have seen lots of really good reviews for this book!

The protagonist of this thriller has a condition called hyperthymesia which means Nicola has the perfect memory. Not only is she able to recall every single detail but also the emotions and feelings along with it.

37 years after Nicola’s ex husband’s father disappeared his body is found and her ex husband arrested for his murder. Her ex; Dec calls her as she is able to provide him with an alibi for that night. Although she is able to recall the night in question with vivid detail Dec remains charged with his father’s murder. Does Nicola even understand what she remembers of that night? Nicola takes things into her own hands ‘playing’ at detective and as she uncovers secrets from the past the truth may be too close to home.

The story unfolds with alternating chapters between the past and the present. Although a unique premise this book was not an interesting read as the story line was dragged out. The story starts of slow and a lot of background detail is given however it is worth sticking with as everything falls into place during the last 20% of the book.

A brilliantly done whodunnit thriller.

Nicola, who has a memory condition, is jolted from the present into her past when she gets a phone call from her ex-husband 24 years later. He needs her to alibi him for a murder he says he didn’t commit.

She is compelled to investigate, to clear him, and finds herself drawn into a web of intrigue.

The book is beautifully written and is utterly compelling. The characters are strongly drawn and the situation has that elusive quality that it feels absolutely real. The end, when it comes, is a relief and I drew a massive deep breath.

Great writing, great story and great characters. Heartily recommended.

I have to start by saying thrillers are my favourite genre. I really enjoyed this book. I find the characters to be well developed and likeable, the storyline engaging and kept me interested and, of course, the unexpected plot twist at the end makes everything real, tying up past and present event. I enjoyed the interplay between then and now, it made for an entertaining read. The author did an excellent job pulling you into the story, making you feel as if you were there. I definitely recommend reading this book.

I would like to thank S.K. Sharp, Random House UK - Cornerstone and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for a fair and honest review..

I so appreciate the opportunity to preview this book, but, I, afraid it was such a disappointment.

What a fabulous premise though - a protagonist who cannot forget and who remembers everything about every experience throughout her life, including the disappearance of her boyfriend’s dad many years before. Then, a phone call from the police pull her back ..... I was so looking forward to reading this. However, what followed was a very wooden story with one dimensional characters and a boring storyline.

Not for me I’m afraid.

As someone who remembers everything she's ever seen in perfect detail, Nicola would be the perfect person to call to back up your alibi. But what about when that's not enough?

This book was a solid read. The pacing was slow at the beginning but it did pick up. There was a lot of repetitive information, especially surrounding Nicola's condition and it got boring to read about after the first third.

Of the two "major" twists, I guessed the first about 20 pages in and the second in the last third.

A solid read, I did finish this in a single day and I would recommend, but overall it's an average story line.

Really exciting well written mystery, following the life of a woman who can remember everything that has happened in her life, with clarity as if it's just happened.

Following the Discovery of her ex husbands fathers body, who went missing years earlier. She's dragged into the painful past.

This book kept me guessing right up to the very ending

Highly recommended read

Thank you Netgalley and Publishers for the Arc

After a body is discovered, Nicolas ex husband is arrested for murder. Both the police and Dec look to her to recollect events that happened nearly four decades ago; these events will be the crucial piece of the puzzle and will be key to uncovering the truth.

The thing that made me want to read this book is the concept seemed so appealing to me. Nicola has a condition called hyperthymesia which means she remembers everything in vivid detail as if it has just happened.

The story is told in dual timelines of present day and back in 1985 around the time of the disappearance. This worked well and kept me interested in the story. Although I wouldn’t say I was necessarily gripped, to me there was no shocking twist as I’d pretty much worked out what had happened in the first half of the book. The ending only had a slight variation on what I had guessed already. Though the writing style did make me carry on reading to the end to see it my assumptions were correct.

Though the book was not shocking to me, I did enjoy reading it and the writing so I would be interested to read other books by this author in the future.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I Know What I Saw is an unusual approach to crime solving with the minimum of police involvement. It started off very slowly but improves as you read on. Nicola has an extremely rare condition which means she can recall everything that has happened in her life. However, we eventually begin to see that no-one's memory can provide the absolute truth as we all are governed by our prejudices even subconsciously and so can only 'see' half a story in truth.

I guessed the outcome before it was revealed and overall felt that the plot would serve a TV series better than a book.

I really enjoyed this. Characters are likeable, story engaging and the unexpected twist in the tail makes everything real, bringing the past and present events together nicely. I enjoyed the frequent interplay between then and now, it was done well and made you feel almost as if you were there. Definitely worth reading.

Thanks to S.K. Sharp, Net Galley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for my ARC.

This book was intriguing at the start. The main character, Nicola, had a rare condition hyperthymesia, which I had never heard of, but thought it fascinating. The story goes backwards and forwards from present day to when Nicola was 16 and her boyfriend’s dad disappeared. Although the story started extremely well, it did lose its way in the middle and there was too much repetition which seemed to be used for bulking out the story. Nicola started off as an extremely savvy, confident person, but she became confused and edgy, not an asset to the story, she would have been a better character without the personality change. There were some good character portrayals, but the abrupt ending didn’t give them much scope. This book is an enjoyable read, with a different twist, but was a little too muddled in places.

This story is about Nicola, who has a fantastic memory and can remember things in detail as far back as when she was a young child, a condition known as Hyperthymesia. I found this book interesting and informative about the condition which I hadn’t heard of but felt that the story was lacking in depth and intrigue and in places went on a bit just to fill the book out.

As Nix tries to find out the truth behind the discovery of Dec's dads death she gets more than she bargined for as she finds out secrets that had been hidden for over 30 years. that she never realy paid attention to before.
The concept and idea behind this book is very intriguing, love it and wish I had the same ability to be able to remember everything I saw or heard even with it's disadvantages, the book's full of twists and turns which you don't expect .Every chapter ends in suspense that you just can't help but contiue reading..
I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone under 16 as there is quite a bit of explicit references and wish it was more PG, but that's my own opinion. Apart from this it's a great book and wish there were more books like it!
Congratulations to SK Shap to creating such a captivating and intriguing book
I Know What I Saw .
May I also add these are my own opinions and haven't been edited in any way.

Nicola has a perfect memory, a crime happened back in 1985, and she is being questioned about it in, 2020. The book goes back and forth between 1985 and 2020. The end really surprised me.

The pace of the story was great and I loved hearing the background to thrir present circumstances.

It definitely holds your attention and I read this very quickly as I was invested in finding out the truth.

A real page turner.

A decent suspense novel that offers a variant on the memory trope. While the plot, itself, is moderately paced, S.K. Sharp does excel at developing well-crafted, dubious characters. The storyline moves deftly from past to present and is highly character driven. Recommended for those looking for a slow-burn narrative with mild to moderate mystery. 3 stars.

The premise of this book FASCINATED me, and the pros and cons of having such a rare condition were very well portrayed.
As others have said, I noticed a lull in the story in the middle but it was very fast paced in the final quarter which redeemed it for me. I did work out the twist, but very late on!
Overall, an enjoyable read.

I Know What I Saw by S. K Sharp

Here we meet Nicola who has a condition called Hyperthymesia which means that she can remember the vast majority of personal experiences from her whole life (which to me sounds more of a curse than a blessing). So when her ex Husband contacts her from the police station accused of his dads murder (who went missing when they were teenagers) she has to relive her past and discover some truths along the way in order to help him.

Her husband really let her down in the past when she needed him the most so it does make the reader question whether he deserves her help at all - but the author flicked between the past and present to old memories and it gave the reader a deeper understanding to the characters and their relationships - I really felt that I knew them. There were plenty of twists and turns to the story which I was not expecting. I really enjoyed this book and could not put it down.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the Publishers for giving me the opportunity to read and give an honest review of this book!
