It was nice to go back into the Virgin River world. It still had the same cozy small town vibes. But I would say that the romance between the characters is a bit familiar in the series. And I think that's acceptable since this series is a bit too long. It was still a cute read.

This is the first book I read in the series and it did not disappoint. Since I binged the two seasons of the show on Netflix, it was easy for me to vividly picture the setting and the many characters of the book. It is always fun coming back to Virgin River because I love the sense of community and the characters are always easy to love. I loved the story about Kaylee and Landry and I felt like they were a perfect match. I also loved how Robin Carr included where she went to visit the set of the TV show and she was able to watch some of the filming.

Thank you to NetGallery and to Harlequin Trade Publishing for giving me a copy for.a honest review.

Return to Virgin River by Robyn Carr
A special thanks to Harlequin Trade Publishing and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy of this book. I voluntarily read and review this book our thoughts and opinions are my own.
Virgin River is one of my favorite places to get lost in.
Kaylee Sloan is in a slump after losing her mother on Christmas Day she can’t seem to write anymore and her editor is waiting on her book. She decides She needs a change of scenery so she decides to head to a friends vacation home in Virgin River. When she arrives the house is on fire with nowhere to stay Mel and Jack step in until Landry offers her a place to rent.
Landry whose been alone for a very long time really begins to enjoy having Kaylee around.
Kaylee is hesitant at first not knowing how to enter a relationship. Can they overcome their losses and build a life together?
I truly love this series and visiting all the people of Virgin River.

I always read Robyn Carr as her books come out and always review on Goodreads and Amazon. I always forget to review here! I loved this book and anything she writes!

I have loved the virgin river series for a long time so it was nice to return to the small mountain town. I love seeing old characters and getting hints of their lives. This story was sweet.

Conflicted about this book. I loved the storyline, and I would have enjoyed more romance. But for women’s fiction it was good. Kaylee and Landry were great together, but there was no strife between them to overcome. The whole book was slow and repetitive, and it felt like the ending was rushed. I got to the epilogue and thought, wait, that’s it?

This is just as wonderful as the other books in the series. I hope she never stops writing them. They all have a wonderful warm feeling to them.

Great last book in this series. Landry and Kaylee story. Kaylee lost her mom on Christmas day and she is lost without her brst friend. She goes to Virgin River to complete her manuscript and heal.
She meets Landry who trains dogs and creates works of art. She conquers her fear of dogs, learns that the key to healing and moving forward is loving and doing for others. She meets Mallory, a 10 year old girl who has lost her mother to cancer. Mallory is the missing piece that Kaylee doesn't realize se was missing.
Kaylee also reunites with the father who left when she was a young child. So much love, forgiveness and moving forward in this book!

I've sat on this review. As much as I love Virgin River and Ms. Carr, this book just felt off. The style of writing was massively different. I just wasn't a fan of it.

I will try it again, but I unfortunately, had to force my way through this story.

This book follows Kaylee whose driving to Virgin River for some peace and to write her last book in a series. Upon arriving in Virgin River the house she rented is going up in flames. Unsure of what to do she heads to Jack's bar where everyone goes for some guidance and substance,

Jack decides to help the lost girl find a place to stay for a short while until she can find somewhere to rent. After checking out a few places with a realtor she takes up Landry on his offer of a cabin he built on his father's property. The only complication is the dog training and Kaylee's bad history with dogs.

These two have sad memories on the holiday's Kaylee it's her mom and Landry it's his dad. Both are trying to find there way in the world and make it past their failed relationships and find comfort in the relationship they are building.

I love this series and how it brings a depth not all books bring to love stories. Ms. Carr has a way of getting to the depth of a story and bringing the raw emotion out. I love how we get to see what everyone is up to and how they have continued their love stories and how Kaylee and Landry get brought into the town!

So glad to revisit some old friends in Virgin River! Love Robyn Carr and she consistently keeps this world the way her readers have come to enjoy. I hope we will continue to get a little glimpse as time goes by.

The Return to Virgin River is everything I hoped for. There’s comfort reading a Virgin River book. We are introduced to new characters, Kaylee and Landry while still seeing some of our favorites, Jack, Mel and the gang. In order to enjoy this fully I would recommend reading the others in the series. I’m sure it can be read as a standalone but you miss the back stories of the characters and how they intertwined.

Kaylee reminded me of Mel Sheridan from book 1. She is looking to spend time in Virgin River to get away from her life after her mom’s passing. She’s struggling with her career and hopes she’ll find inspiration. I liked reading the characters thought process in writing especially when it came to her “second book”.

Landry knows Kaylee is only costing but that does stop him from wanting more. Unfortunately he doesn’t share his feelings and kept what he felt close to his chest.

The couple give into their wants but it wasn’t without emotions. I thought it was a wonderful edition to the series and truly enjoyed every moment.

Welcome back to Virgin River. Kaylee Sloan is grieving over her mother’s death and struggling to finish her book after struggling with writer’s block. Thinking a change of scenery will help her healing and struggles, Kaylee settles in a cabin outside Virgin River where she hopes to find the spark of life again as she mends her heart. The residents of Virgin River help Kaylee find herself again and a new romance with artist Landry Moore helps heal the shattered heart since her mother’s death. Kaylee will find that sometimes healing can take place in many different forms and as she finds peace and looks to the future, she will find friendships and love will be the best medicine she will ever have.

Ms. Carr’s newest book in the acclaimed Virgin River series was anticipated by myself as I just loved the book series so much. A great cast of characters, events that played out through many residents of this quirky town and the people who live there but something was missing in this twenty-first book, maybe that magic that was in all of the other twenty books. It fell a little flat to me especially as even as Kaylee was the main character in the book, the other characters I grew to love and adore in past books just didn’t pop for me as well. Kaylee’s story overran everything and mind you, I am not tearing down her grief over her mother’s death, but it overwhelmed the book at times to the point I had to put it down and go read something else to freshen my palette.

RETURN TO VIRGIN RIVER gives long term readers a visit back to the beloved little town nestled in the redwoods and mountains of California. The scenery is exquisite, and you felt like you were there. What I didn’t get into was the characters. As much as I was anticipating the return to one of my favorite series by this author, the characters I came to love felt a little flat for me. It was like the author only gave us glimpses of them then tore them away to the point where Kaylee, even as a main character, just annoyed me to no end. I tried to be sympathetic to her grief and the character herself, but she overwhelmingly came across as dour, miserable, and plain unhappy and it was not a happy a story no matter what. I did have hope when the story lightened up a little in spots but overwhelmingly, the story with Kaylee as center just didn’t do it for me. Unfortunately, even as I finished the book, I felt this was just not as on par as the rest of the Virgin River books in the series. The story fell flat and constrained, characters were at times restrained and a little one-note and the only thing I really enjoyed the most was how scenic book was. If you are looking to read the series, I say stick to the first twenty books and maybe enjoy those over this one. RETURN TO VIRGIN RIVER just didn’t capture the magic of those books this time around and I wished for more of the beloved characters personalities to shine on like before.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement.

Virgin River is a place I want to go and in the latest visit — a new woman in town from California, Kaylee comes to heal and of course join in the town’s happenings, this time at Christmas. As a lover of the extended series, seeing book 19 of one of my favorites out was a treat.

The Virgin River series is full of heartwarming stories and RETURN TO VIRGIN RIVER is no exception. Wonderful characters are revisited and the storyline is well thought out.

I did have a bit of difficulty connecting with the characters in this one, but that may not be the fault of the writer. It may just be a sign of the times with this reader having a difficult time escaping into my normal bliss of a book. I actually read this book a couple of months ago and am just now writing my review.

Kaylee Sloan is getting over a loss and the upcoming holidays are going to be especially hard. She has come to Virgin River to get away, regroup, and get her life back on track. Virgin River is the place to heal and find love when you don’t even know you are looking for it.

I didn’t realize how much I missed the Virgin River until I started reading Return to Virgin River. It was like coming back to your home town..

I read this book months ago with grand intentions of blogging about it, but now it seems more important to get the review out there, which is basically if you've ever had any interest whatsoever in the Virgin River series, you need to read this book! Crafted with Carr's typical care and styling, Return to Virgin River sweeps you back to everyone's favourite small California mountain town that's the perfect place to meet friendly neighbours, heal from the past, and find true love. Sweet, gently paced, easy to read - it's another win in the series for me!

Thanks to the publisher for the complimentary copy of this title via NetGalley. Opinions are my own.

Return to Virgin River (Virgin River #19). By Robyn Carr. 2020. Mira Books (ARC eBook).

Writer Kaylee Sloan is stuggling with her grief over her mom’s death and writer’s block as well. Hoping a stay away from home at an old family friend’s cabin will help her reconcile both, she heads to the small town of Virgin River. But when she arrives, she finds an accidental fire burning the cabin to the ground. Fortunately she doesn’t remain stranded for long and she is able to rent the guest house on Landry Moore’s property. Landry Moore works several jobs, but it’s Kaylee’s bad luck that one of them is as a part-time dog trainer and she is afraid of dogs. But soon Kaylee has crossed paths with and taken in a stray cat and a dog with a litter of pups. Her and Landry begin spending more time together and Kaylee gets to know the folks of Virgin River while coming to terms with losing her mom.

Return to Virgin River was my introduction to Carr and the Virgin River series and while overall there was a bit of charm, it was slow and I never found myself captivated. I may read more from Carr and Virgin River if the mood strikes me, but I hope the next will not feel as recycled.
