I follow Tommy Siegel on Instagram, and 75% of the time, he cracks me up and I share immediately. The other 25%, I'm cringing and just quietly pass it by.

This book is basically just like that? I guess? Really fun when it's fun, and really weird and painful when it's not.

I thoroughly enjoyed this collection of comics and the essays that go with them. The Pringles image is a great, yet cursed image and now when I see it online, I recognize where's it from. There were also a few comics I had seen online that I didn't realize were this artist. Definitely was hit hard a few times by the comics, but overall, a stellar collection.

Kind of funny and at times very quirky selection of comics/cartoons. The drawing style of the artist is complemented with some text here and there on the backstory of the author. Overall it is an enjoyable and easy read that can make you smile.

I didn't really enjoy my time reading this. Neither the artstyle nor the sense of humor were my cup of tea. Out of all the book, I only laughed at 4 comics and found the rest of them either unfunny or overly vulgar.

The author had this pages upon pages of his life after he started these comics which I wasn't interested on because I don't know him so it felt like it dragged on a lot and I just stopped reading them after the first two parts.

Overall, I think this book is for fans that follow his Instagram page or people with similar humor as the author. Some comics were edgy and basically jokes about the harsh reality but they were presented more as facts so I didn't find them funny. I hated every vulgar comic and honestly wish I can unsee them.

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with the digital copy for an honest review.

I've been following Tommy Siegel on Instagram for a while so I'm pretty familiar with his weird comics, especially his naked Pringles guy. His humor may not be for everyone but it's right up my alley. I appreciated this compilation of his work, from when he started out creating comics to more of his recent stuff. I didn't expect but enjoyed his musings throughout about life, the universe, and everything along the way. Also, thanks for the birdwatching comics, Tommy! Very much appreciated by random birders like me!

The problem with humor is that it is, as I always say, subjective, and in this case, it didn't work for me. I could see that the cartoons were supposed to be funny, and even said to myself, ah, a joke, but didn't find any that made me laugh out loud. It was more like just noticing the humor that didn't' work for me.

However, if you are already reading these on line, this is a very good collection of the comics, and it is nice not to have to scroll for them, and have it in book form.

Perhaps I am too old for the jokes, such as the different ways to take a selfie. Or what the different types of coffee makers say about you.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

This was an extremely enjoyable that is quick to get through when you need a dose of serotonin. Timely given the pandemic that we are in.

I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

I found this graphic novel extremely relatable and funny. The art style was great. It slightly felt like a cathartic read while reflecting on my own life.

I was very excited to read this book but I hadn't been able to get around to it due to some personal stuff, and today I see that Netgalley Shelf has hidden the book from viewing. I am very sad :(

As a Jukebox the Ghost fan, I have been following Tommy's van doodles since the beginning. I Hope This Helps is a fantastic journey of the hilarity that ensued. The stories are great and the comics are laugh out loud funny.

While I can't see myself using this in a classroom, it was a book of comics that truly hooked me. I enjoy Tommy's sense of humor!

I picked this up because I really wanted a lighthearted read and I was really impressed with the illustrations and insights into the creative process of an artist during these truly depressing and unprecedented times. The illustrations are timely and funny and strange and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. I look forward to checking out more of Tommy Siegel's work.

A surprisingly amusing collection of webcomics from Jukebox the Ghost member Tommy Siegel that comment on social media and the like ... with a number of butts.

I Hope This Helps is a random collection of comics and narrative snippets around the theme of living in the 21st century. Siegel demonstrates an uncanny ability to capture the zeitgeist of the times and his humor is unparalleled. However, I did find the length a bit too long which did hinder my enjoyment of this collection.

I've seen this artist's work around the interwebs randomly, so I thought it would be a good idea to check out his book when I saw it on Netgalley. And, for the most part, I didn't regret my life choices.

About half of the comics were amusing, and of those only a small amount made me actually laugh. Which is sad, because I am one of the easiest people to make laugh. The biggest problem is that I don't believe I was the target audience for much of the jokes. I don't drink coffee, okay?! Accept me as I am! That, and everything seemed to be thrown in willy-nilly. There just wasn't any real flow... and that is something important for comics especially, else they get repetitious and lose their comedic power.

Tommy Siegel is amusing and someone I enjoy seeing stuff from every now and again, but I don't think these comics are worth me spending money to buy a whole book of them. And I feel I should note that I own a whole lot of books published by webcomic artists, because I love them.

It was an okay read. I wouldn't go through it again, but I didn't hate it.

Loved it! Clever, biting, and observant humor perfect for youngish and older adults. Would love to see more comics from the author.

I’ve really been enjoying graphic novels this year. But this one just seemed negative. This was not what I was hoping for.

3.5 stars.

This is a series of webcomics (Instagram comics, really — is that technically webcomics?), which were posted daily for 500 days. I would say that like 30% of them might give you a quick chuckle, 60% are *groan noise*, and 10% are immediately-text-to-a-friend great.

I actually found myself most interested by the prose bits in between “chapters,” especially the part about the social media landscape. It’s nothing I haven’t heard before, but it’s still so fascinating (and infuriating!) every time.

This is def worth a quick read or at least flip through.

Thanks Netgalley for the ARC!

I don’t usually read Comics & Graphic Novels but I found this on NetGalley during a random browsing session and thought the tagline was funny.

Rock musician Tommy Siegel's debut book collection includes 200+ pages of comics, essays, and helpful guides to coping with 21st-century panic.

It is an incisive and hilarious survey of millennial culture and everyday anxieties. With comics titled “Choose your social anxiety coping mechanism” and “What your coffee drink of choice says about you,” I Hope This Helps offers clever and sardonic commentary on our phone-obsessed, social media-driven culture, as well as a series of devastatingly funny relationship comics starring his popular Candy Hearts characters.

His comics have quickly earned a viral global fanbase and shout-outs from cultural heavyweights ranging from Ringo Starr to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Balancing absurd humour and insightful writing, I Hope This Helps outlines the journey from the author’s earliest "van doodles" all the way to the socially-distanced awkwardness of the present day.

The illustrations are simple and effective, and most of the observations captured here are entertaining. While I thought some of the jokes were unnecessarily bordering on the obscene, I enjoyed how the author interspersed the comic panels with details about his life and his evolution as a comic artist on the road.

A quirky take on life in the present age, it’s a break from the monotony of routine. You might also want to check out his Instagram handle for more of his work.
