In addition to historical references, this book includes historical maps of the area and excellent photographs of landmarks. Well-written and an excellent references for anyone interested in the history of Amsterdam.

Amsterdams canal District is a book about the origins of the canal district in Amsterdam and is a book of philosophy and speculation, history and evidence.

This book isn't what I thought it would be and unfortunately I didn't really enjoy it. I have rated it 3 stars to be fair as anyone interested in history of Amsterdam or canals will enjoy this book more than I did.

Really interesting read! I've always loved seeing photos of Amsterdam's canal district, but I didn't know the history. This book gives the history of how the area developed. Photos are included, but the book is text heavy so if you're looking for more of a coffee table book, this isn't it.
