Amsterdam's Canal District brings together seventeen scholars to delve into the history of the canal district. In addition to historical references, this book includes historical maps of the area and excellent photographs of landmarks. Well-written and an excellent references for anyone interested in the history of Amsterdam.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Amsterdams canal District is a book about the origins of the canal district in Amsterdam and is a book of philosophy and speculation, history and evidence.

This book isn't what I thought it would be and unfortunately I didn't really enjoy it. I have rated it 3 stars to be fair as anyone interested in history of Amsterdam or canals will enjoy this book more than I did.

Really interesting read! I've always loved seeing photos of Amsterdam's canal district, but I didn't know the history. This book gives the history of how the area developed. Photos are included, but the book is text heavy so if you're looking for more of a coffee table book, this isn't it.
