I would like to thank the author, publisher and Net Galley for providing a free ecopy of this boo in exchange for my honest review.

This is book 2 in a series, and I have not read the first book or any other by this author. The summary sounded like a good, spooky ghost story and I was really excited to get into it. And the start was great. But after the half way mark, it felt like the focus of the story changed from a spooky ghost story to a love story, introducing new characters and taking the focus away. It was a disappointment ,and I felt the ending was a bit rushed and not really resolved overall. It ended up not being the spooky ghost story I was hoping for or looking for.

I would consider looking for others by the author, though, and for the first book. I enjoyed most of the writing style and character development, it just felt as though the author wanted to try something new, and the story lost momentum for me.

Thank you, once again to NetGalley for this advanced reader's copy. I thought it was a good little mystery. I thought it was going to be scarier. This is a mystery of a missing little girl, a spooky, mysterious old woman, and a budding romance. You can tell the author was inspired by To Kill A Mockingbird. The book is discussed throughout the book. I thought there could have been a little more suspense, but it was a quick, enjoyable read. #NetGalley #thegirlsofcemetaryroad

Twyla Ellis has created a story most of us can relate to in one way or another with this book.

The girls of cemetery road sounds spooky in itself and its what made me interested. I mean, cemetery road? What does this mean?

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this is where the story takes place. Our main character kitrina Katim is going back to cemetery road to sell her parents house and then move on with her life. Going back means meeting old friends, rediscovering childhood bonds and discovering what happened to one of her childhood friends, Libby who went missing years ago.

I found this book to be fast paced yet spaning a decent length of time and this allowed me to really sink my teeth into this book and become slowly hooked on the mystery that sits at the centre of this book. Parts made me feel hopeful, only to have it later turn into doubt and dread. I was very in love with these characters who took this journey and an emotional response like this only means a good thing to me.

Sometimes I would feel like things could have been explained a little bit better or an extra line put in about a situation, but this only happened a few times and was not enough for me to feel frustrated or annoyed.

I think if you enjoy a book with a not so light hearted mystery, a book with wonderful friendship bonds, a book which can simultaneously deliver some scares and move your heart then definately give this a go.

I have rated this four stars simply because the story is still sitting with me now. I doubt it is one I will forget in a hurry and I wish, I wish there was more to read.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publishers for the ARC of this.

I’m not entirely sure where to start talking about this book. I am on the fence about this book. Did I like this book? Yes, most definitely I did. The writing was beautiful and the author took the time to build a picture so vivid, it’s like you were there in the house with them.

However, was it scary? Absolutely not. I’m pretty sure this book is supposed to be horror. Now that I’ve read it though, I’m questioning my knowledge on the genre. I could go back and look into it. But at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter. I enjoyed the book but didn’t find it the least bit scary.

Horror thrillers are one of my favorite genre and the detailed prequel of this book is so satisfying giving me more reasons to request for the book.
When I first started reading, the character buildings and the surrounding descriptions hooked me and gave my imagination all the boost it needed to not put the book down even for a second but after some point (a bit later then midway), it felt rushed towards the ending. The characters started disappearing and the details decreased, raising more questions in my mind then spooky imagination.
Overall I would say, the book started with great hype and was going real nicely but had a really unsatisfactory rushed ending eventually taking away the former excitement.

I was excited to read this book because I love a scary ghost story. This book started out strong and held my interest, everything was setting up very nicely but somewhere around the 60% it leaned way on a family mystery/love story and I felt like a lot of characters that were just introduced and were intriguing to see where the story was going to take them and they sort of vanished.
I know that this author has what it takes to write a really good horror story cause there are moments that I was freaking out a little but then it all fell flat again.
The ending was a little odd to say the least.
I think I'm sitting on a 3. Stars here. Which makes me a little sad cause the beginning deserved a higher rating but it fell off about midway and just got worse from there.
3.0 stars ⭐⭐⭐

This book was absolutely spooky until about 60% of the way through. At the point it started working to its resolve pretty quickly. The atmosphere was beautifully crafted. The details immersive concerning the main plot line. I could feel the setting. I was hooked. The story is original and built with skill. The main thing that kept me from absolutely loving this book was the romance. It’s was incredibly unrealistic. I mean there’s no way 6 people would perfectly couple up and there’s absolutely no way they would keep everything pg. It just was too hokey. Definitely not needed. The story would have been 4 or maybe even 5 stars for me if that had been left out. Also, there are strong religious undertones to this book that I’m not sure I understand; or see the point. I think it should be branded as a Christian book. That would seem more fitting and hit every issue I’d encounter. Then the flaws I saw wouldn’t be flaws they’d be expected and appreciated. On the positive side I was spooked several times.
