What a beautiful way to represent anxiety. I personally really related to this and as someone with anxiety and seasonal depression. This was just beautifully told in my opinion, so simple but so impactful.

Feelings is a poignant graphic novel that explores the author's challenges with anxiety and depression throughout the seasons. The illustrations are beautifully rendered and through the color palettes and expressive character development, the reader gets the sense of how the author is feeling. I think that many people will be able to see their own experiences with anxiety disorders and seasonal affective disorder reflected in the book.

Advanced copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I've loved Thapp's illustrations for a while, and I was very excited to see that she was releasing a full-length graphic novel. The artwork throughout this book was absolutely beautiful. Each page felt stunning enough on its own that I could have printed them and hung them up on my walls. The text is poetic and lovely, but I found myself a little uninterested in what was written and caught up in the images instead. I honestly think this book could have had no words and I still would have loved it and taken away the same message from the illustrations. So gorgeous!!

I think this may be my favourite graphic /visual memoir I've read this year, and I'm shocked to admit this. In receiving an eARC copy, in return I'm giving an honest review. This was probably one of the most lyrical and visually graphic biographies I read. The aesthetic backed by colour palette and the lyrical prose which was poetic helped to tie in the conceptual ideas of the story. I don't think I've ever felt this engaged in a graphic visual and the storytelling was compelling and relatable. It was so cool how innovative she took a classic metaphor of feelings to seasons and made something new out of it. I don't think I've ever connected to similar feelings as the season changed. I highly recommend this read if you're looking for something that is poignant and poetic.

"Feelings" is a stunning musing on the author's self through the seasons, as both as a person and as an artist. While it is a personal story of thoughts from Summer to all the way to Spring and leading into the following summer, it is also incredibly universal to any reader. I loved the lyrical yet succinct way that these feelings were encapsulated in the piece. I related to it in so many ways and it's certainly a work that I would like to revisit as the seasons change. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful and I loved the shifting color palette as the story shifted through the different seasons. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to seeing what else Manjit Thapp creates!

A beautiful book, not only the illustrations, but also the journey she takes you on through the seasons of depression, which also often match up with the seasons of the year for many of us. Manjit captures that feeling of darkness where it feels like the sun won’t come out again, and as we emerged into spring I could feel the warmth in her art.

Thanks to NetGalley and Random House for the advanced e-copy. I'll look forward to seeing this in print!

This was so soothing and great!! In Feelings: A Story in Seasons, Manjit Thapp takes us through a woman’s emotional journey over the course of a year. We are creatively told the story of someone’s experience with anxiety as the seasons change. The beautiful art helps to create a continuous narrative, with changing color palettes to fit the season. The illustrations often connect emotions and weather: for example, on a winter night, her fears are illustrated as cycling through her head as the moon reaches higher and higher in the sky.
On some of the pages, I was briefly confused about which line to read next (since it occasionally went from reading left to right on one page to reading each column top to bottom on the next), but this was easy enough to sort out.
This colorful book is full of a lot of big feelings, and will be a nice validating comfort read for those who have experienced mental health problems or even just seasonal mood changes.

A beautiful book that follows a version of the author through a year of feelings. The different seasons are represented through the life cycle of flowers as well as the color choices in each section. There isn't a lot of prose which allows the images to tell the story as much if not more than the words. Worth a read for the art.

Feelings by Manjit Thapp is a beautiful and atmospheric exploration of human emotion as seen through the passing of seasons. Thapp brings readers into her world beginning with summer. She depicts the life of an artist also working a day job, struggling with creative block, anxiety, and juggling a social life. Thapp’s art is stunning and her use of color is mesmerizing. She portrays the change in weather, seasons, and emotions with ease. Though each season has its struggles, autumn and winter in particular seem to be times of depression and anxiety for Thapp. Her writing is poetic and lovely. A quick read that will leave readers poring over the illustrations.

Beautiful, moody graphic novel exploring the impact of the seasons on both the protagonist and, so some extent, the broader world. Elements of this work ring remarkably true.

This is a work of art. I deeply connected with the images and the words. They blend together and take you effortlessly on the journey through both the inner and outer seasons. It is a story of how creativity and our concept of self changes through the year, how nature still can impact our world view, our identity. Loved this and feel inspired to create and to be mindful of myself.

The artwork in this book is absolutely gorgeous and beautifully fits with the words. There are parts of this book that felt so strong because of how universal aspects were. Other parts felt more specific and fell a little more flat. This is what I most struggled with; I was not sure how I was suppose to be experiencing this book. Was it meant as more of a memoir in which I related to the character and in turn better understood myself? Was it meant as a more general journey about emotions that turn as with the seasons? Because I wondered about this, I struggled with just experiencing the book.

Beautifully drawn and beautifully written. It is heartfelt and brave for her to share her feelings as they change through the year. It is easy to connect with her as we all have had similar responses to the changes in our environment. I am sure this is beautiful in print.

This book is a reflection on feeling depressed or anxiety feelings.
I like how it uses the seasons as a metaphor for how you can go thru the phases of depression.
This book is very relatable and great for anyone who may have the same difficulty.

diverse graphic (mental health, anxiety, seasons) - short (16? pages, including front and back matter) art journal/graphic novel based loosely or perhaps closely on the author's experiences with anxiety and depression over the six seasons observed in some South Asian countries. From a UK-based artist and author of color--see Manjit Thapp's insta @manjitthapp for an impressive collection of work and even some lovely/quirky fan art.

Gorgeous color illustrations paired with sparse, lyrical prose. If you like poetry, it is poetry! If you don't like poetry, don't worry--it is sparse prose. If you like artwork portraying the expressions of a person of color, hooray!
I am happy to have "discovered" this book--thanks, Netgalley! (And thanks, Random House, even though you are not always very kind to libraries with your ebook vending practices!) I look forward to seeing this in print (not the same as an ebook) and recommending it to others.
