I loved the premise of this story and the idea of it. However, it really just didn't have that world-building and excitement to keep me wanting to read it. It was really lacking in the character development and I just didn't feel attached to this story. But again, I loved the idea of this book.

I received a free arc from netgalley in return for an honest review.

So. I don’t think this book was altogether bad, I’d say it’s 2.5 stars for me, but I couldn’t really get into it.

The world building was intriguing enough but I felt like the characters were a bit flat and stereotypical for my taste. I did like Klara well enough, I just felt like some of the side characters (in particular the queens in the beginning) were a bit overboard with the caricature of evil. I would absolutely pick up another novel by the author to follow her development though!

Absolutely captivating but I was left wanting more!

This was a brilliant example of dark fantasy intertwined with traditional lore but I feel like it was a little rushed and would benefit from being fleshed out into a duology.

It's very fast paced and characters are engaging with witty dialogue but I was left feeling that overall not much really happened in the book in terms of events.

Captured me from the beginning chapter and loved the development of the character. I loved the writing style and the book was very descriptive and was such a quick paced book.

This was such a fun read and unlike anything I have read before. This book was a perfect blend of all the things we love within fantasy blended into one huge adventure. I really enjoyed the inclusion of so many different creatures and the blend of the modern day and fae world. The characters were likeable the story moved very fast. Aall in all this was just a really fun read to spend a day or two in a crazy, wonderful world of adventure

Crowned A Traitor had a great premise, and I was extremely excited to get stuck in.
Sadly for me, the beginning of the book was a little slow paced and it did take me a while to get into the book.
Once I did, it did improve.
The story itself was an interesting one, and I really do enjoy any type of Fairy tale type book. Especially when they're made darker.

I would definitely consider picking up the second book, as this one, although not my favourite, was still a decent enough read.

Thank you to NetGalley for my copy to review.

It sounded so good and i was intruiged by the blurb. But i was just bored and uintressed throughout the book. It wasn`t anything that caught me and wanted me to continue.

I really enjoyed the layer of world building, though at times it was a bit much, as well as Klara's personality and character arc. While the end felt a little rushed, I loved how the author pulled off the plot twists. There were a few things I was left wondering about at the end and hope to see in future novels.

I received a copy of the book from Netgalley to review. Thank you for the opportunity.
A dark and grisly take on the classic fairytale and fantasy worlds. The writing is sharp and slick, making for a quick read. The characters and the world building is interesting and fascinating. This book is not for the fainthearted though with lots of action and drama throughout.
A good read.

This book was definitely an entertaining read, but the pacing was just a tad too off for me. The ending also left something to be desired BUT that's okay because that just means I'll continue reading. Can't wait to see where this goes!

I loved this book, though the ending fell a bit flat.

Reading this book was refreshing, the beginning new and magical but then it began to become predictable and I struggled to keep reading.

Somewhere past the middle I began enjoying the book again, the characters came to life and it was intriguing.

Though the ending seems like a clear set up to a series, it did lack something because as a reader I have too many questions still.

I would've wished more of the feelings could have been explored before the ending too

Crowned A Traitor had me captivated from the start. The story and the world building was just so compelling to me and I found the characters very interesting. I also thought the writing was really good.

With that said it did have a few flaws like the pacing felt a bit off in some places ; and a couple other small things hence the 4 stars instead of 5, but I still enjoyed it all the same.

Overall an excellent read that I highly recommend and i'll for sure be checking out more of Kate Callaghan's work in the future.

This book was really good. I loved the description and was not disappointed by this story at all. This book opens with Klara, Lucifers daughter and Heir to Hell working in a tavern in the Dark Forest of Malum. Why is she working? To get money to escape to Kalos, Fae lands free of Dark Magic. I loved going on this journey with her and al, the twists and turns and characters were truly a joy to read about. I can't wait for the next book.

The characters, world, and plot were all very good in this book. I love any book centered around Hell because it’s always interesting to see how an author will portray it in the story. I enjoyed the whole book and the only reason it isn’t a four stars for me is because I felt the ending was a little lack luster. I will definitely be continuing on though!

A guilty pleasure and a fun, quick read, this book has something for everyone who likes dark, urban fantasies. I believe this is the author's first book, but she shows real talent and promise and I will likely read her books that will be next in the series.

This book was okay. It was not the best read I have had, but it was not the worst. I enjoyed this book for what it was. I did however find the book started strong and ended with an okay and not as exciting ending.

However, moving on to the review, the book I am talking about today is a self sent to me directly by the author via Netgalley, not translated into Italian, it is only in English, and is Crowned a Traitor by Kate Callaghan, a fantasy, young adult , where the supernatural theme prevails over everything because the protagonist is Klara Lucifer, daughter of Lucifer himself.

But what could one expect from a story like this if not that Klara doesn’t want what awaits her at all, doesn’t want any responsibility and doesn’t want to command Hell when her father retires from his duties. For years she has been sent to be trained by the queens of Hell, Eva, Lilith and Abadan, but she has always been a rebel, with a secret job, and almost a secret life.

Everything changes, however, when following a clash she is literally heartless and is thus forced to have to go to her father to get a new one. Here she also reunites with an old friend of her and an old flame who apparently rose through the ranks to become an important figure in her father’s court, Frendall. But what Klara feared most was the fact that it would not be easy to go home to the Queens, and so it is.

Her father wants to retire and wants her to take his role in his place immediately. She finds an excuse for not having to ascend the throne yet, she even runs away, but from here she will spend the rest of the book on the run to try to reach the world of humans, and it won’t be easy, and between allies and traitors, the book ends. leaving you with bated breath and trepidation for the second volume.

The story itself has a lot of potential, I liked it a lot, but as it was also reported to the author via social media it must be revised well because it is full of grammatical errors, and other syntax problems that if corrected would give another face to the book. The author herself, however, promised that she would soon turn to an editor for the correction, and apologize to those who bought the book on amazon that logically it was not corrected.

My rating of 3.5 stars, which is closer to 4, is due precisely to these prose problems that sometimes make the concept confusing, in this case once or twice, and other times perhaps make reading a bit slow just for how the sentences are written. But otherwise, as I said before, I liked the story a lot and I don’t dare to imagine what will happen in the following volumes. I have been shipping Klara with Frendall ever since he entered the scene, I hope both are more in the center of attention, and more united, in the second volume.

I will say, this book does have a fun storyline. I really liked the different lands that Callaghan incorporated into this book and I especially liked the whole ‘heir to Hell’ part of Klara’s lineage.
My favorite part of the book was actually the events that take place in Hell and I think those chapters were the best written ones.

This book needs some help with editing though. I often had to reread lines or paragraphs because the way things were written made it confusing as to who was speaking/performing an act. I would also have liked more detailed descriptions. Quite a bit happens in this book, but with the book being so short - under 300 pages for the ebook version - that means that events are rushed. I almost felt like I was reading the second book in a series and was expected to know more than what was given.

Callaghan did state on Goodreads that she was going to employ the help of an editor for this book, so that should help with a good portion of my concerns. If that is the case, I would be interested in continuing this series because it is an enjoyable storyline.

Thanks to Kate Callaghan and NetGalley for providing me with this ebook in exchange for an honest review!
