Lord of Loyalty is the second in her Trysts and Treachery series. It is full of intrigue and danger. Once you start reading you won't be able to put the book down because it is so diverting! The plot was great and the suspense keeps you on your toes until the end.

I really enjoyed Isobel and Will's story. It was very entertaining and the story it self keep me turning the pages. Will finds himself protector of his dying friends sister. But wht he finds is not wht he pictured from Edwards description of her as.she appears that she is mad and under the care.of her cousin. When he returns for another visit he is denied entry but will not give up so when he finds her in the garden she ask him for help in her drug induced state her cousin keeps her under he takes Isobel to protect her. He also has troubles of his own being blackmailed by his neighbor.

Together they must fight the enemies to find their HOA.

I received this book for an honest review.

Very good read. I enjoyed Will's determination to honor his word to Edward. Our villain Hubert was really quite evil, and it was quite easy to want him gone! Then there is Isobel. I first felt so sad for her because of the abuse she was suffering, then I thought she was being sort of snippy causing Will more trouble than necessary and never being thankful for all he had done for her...then she finally showed me a woman of strength and valor. This is a good story.

Sir William Cavendish has been fighting for Crown and Country and during that time his best friend was killed. Before he died, he had William promise to look after his sister, who would be left alone. However, unknown to both, a distant cousin had taken it upon himself to claim the estate and keep Isobel Marston captive. To do this they feed her a poppy mixture that makes her appear mad. She was heavily drugged and kept away from the public. Until Sir William arrives with the news that her brother was killed, and he has sworn to keep her under his protection. That is just the beginning of the problems Sir William Cavendish will encounter trying his best to live up to his promise. Blackmail, sly games of malice and never once did he step away from her. What an interesting story line and I really enjoyed reading it.

Loyalty and Treachery

Will wanted to tell Isobel about her brother’s death, but she did not seem to understand. Did she lose her mind, or was there more to the story? Will must discover what is happening, and when he does, the adventure begins. Treachery and loyalty battle in this story, but which of them will win the war? Perhaps, love will determine the outcome. If you like historical romance stories with a dash of adventure, you might enjoy this story.

Gosh! This will have you on the edge of your seat, wondering what is going to happen next. Sir William Cavendish is all you could want in a hero, he is brave, intelligent and handsome. Most importantly he doesn’t give up!. Isobel Marston is having a torrid time at the hands of her villainous cousin Hubert Pike. Isobel and Willian are attracted to each other but are unsure of each other’s feelings. There are a number of dangerous events, an unwanted betrothal and a very satisfying ending. This was an engaging read and I’m looking forward to reading the next in the series. Elizabeth Keysian really sets the scene with interesting details for the period.

“Lord of Loyalty” is the second book in the Trysts and Treachery series by Elizabeth Keysian, which follows quite a new story where Isobel Marsden is being drugged by her cousin, Hubert Pike, believing herself to be suffering a brain disease. It is only when Sir William Cavendish arrives to deliver her the news that her brother has died, that he begins to think that all is not well with Isobel. From her brother’s account to William, Isobel is a strong-minded woman and well accomplished, yet her current state, and eventually their conversations, suggest that he needs to steal her away from her cousin. Yet as they make their way to William’s home, they soon discover that more treachery awaits them, as Will’s neighbour threatens him with blackmail, in an attempt to force a marriage with his daughter.
An interesting read with two engaging characters. I particularly liked William, who was incredibly honourable in his manner towards Isobel, despite fighting his attraction to her. It was challenging to read the first few chapters where Isobel is so confused and disorientated by the drugs. This section was so well delivered and convincing, that her slow return to normality was interesting to read through. The detail to the story was plausible and the dialogue engaging.
Well worth reading. I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Lord of Loyalty by Elizabeth Keysian is the second in her Trysts and Treachery series. Sir William Cavendish arrives at Marston House to deliver the grim news of his friend Edward's death to his sister, and heir, Isobel. When greeted by her cousin, Hubert Pike, and informed that she was ill, he insisted upon seeing her and discovered, not the noblewoman he expected, but a forlorn and miserable creature, drugged out of her mind. Will always accepted more responsibility that was his due and could not just walk away from this woman who was obviously in need, so he stole her out of the garden. That night, quickly coming to understand that he needed help, he took her to an inn where the Goodwife there helped him ride her of the drugs and nurse her back to herself. They returned to London to face all manner of ill will, both from Pike and from Will's neighbor, who planned to blackmail him into a marriage to his daughter. Nothing is ever easy and so, rectifying both of these situations quickly turned into a nightmare.

This Elizabethan drama is both convoluted and compelling. Mental illness in this time was treated abominably but was also used as a way to rid men of inconvenient women, whatever the inconvenience, including standing in the way of inheriting a fortune to which they had not right. Will was clever and bold, but not much of a communicator. Isobel was beautiful and bright, not prone to taking orders, and not much of a communicator herself. There was a lot to be done, both through a lawyer and at the end of a sword. Will never backed down, but didn't always think things through. This was a good plot, full of red herrings and subplots, and held the reader's interest until the end. The characters were interesting and drew the reader's sympathies. All in all, it is worth reading. I recommend it.

A well-written historical novel with a good sense of time and place, “Lord of Loyalty”, by Elizabeth Keysian (Dragonblade Publishing), features an initially amnesic heroine who is rescued by the gallant hero.
I loved the way William and Isobel meet and the depiction of the heroine’s condition, how the author cleverly wrote about the drug-induced severe confusion, amnesia, disorientation and agitation, showing it in such a believable way (although I felt the recovery was too sudden).
Will, a slightly wounded war hero, is the ultimate gentleman, loyal and honorable, and so determined to protect the heroine from the perils she faces.
I liked the plausibility in the depiction of the period, the vivid dialogue, the characters and the romance, although at times I felt Will and Isobel spend too much time swooning over each other and trying to fight the attraction in name of propriety and codes of conduct.

Step into another sensational addition to the Trysts and Treachery series, that is just as memorizing as the first!
The first time Isobel Marsden saw Sir William Cavendish, a friend of her brother Edward, her thoughts were "What a beautiful man---it must be Apollo. Tawny gold hair framed the kind of face of a classical sculpture would have adored, and there was an air of virile decisiveness in his movements. It made her catch her breath."
William had come to give Isobel the news of the death of her brother and his best friend in the war. What he found was a woman out of her mind and spouting nonsense, or at least that is what it seemed and her odious cousin in charge of her home and selling all the valuable items. Do you see a deception going on?
But William, begins to see that things are not as they appear and he and Isobel take a journey that is not an easy one filled with danger, suspense, passion and a few smiles and sighs .. Did I say I love this series and Elizabeth Keysian? Oh yes...

Isobel is being watched over by her cousin and two of his fiends. They have been drugging Isobel with poppy juice until she is quite addicted and mad! Sir William Cavendish is a friend of Isobel's brother Edward. He has made a wish to her deceased brother that he will watch over her. He visits and notices right away something is wrong. He figures out a way to "kidnap" Isobel and see her to safety. All the while he is being blackmailed by a neighbor and his daughter. What ensures is a very loyal knight seeing Isobel through withdrawals, a dishonest greedy cousin and a meddlesome woman! Quite the tale.
I loved the story! I had a bit of a time with the verbiage. While authentic I am sure I had trouble reading along at certain part...but definitely a great read

I loved it! The story is so intriguing and I absolutely loved both the main characters. There is something really cool about England, 1586 and I enjoyed this list trip to the past. This is the kind of book that will keep you on your toes and keep your full attention from the start until the very end. As far as I'm concerned, this is one of the best historical fiction I have read this year and definitely a book that all fiction fans would enjoy reading. I surely did.

With her brother fighting in a war in the Lowlands, Isobel's cousin takes advantage of the situation and takes over her life, slowly destroying her mind with the juice of the poppy. When Will Cavendish arrives to give the sad news that her brother Edward was killed in battle, Isobel has no knowledge of her brother, although there is some stirring in her mind. The situation bothers Will and when he finds Isobel somewhat calm and sane, she begs him to rescue her. Getting an inkling for her situation, Will takes a risk and removes her from her home, but keeping her safe becomes an all-time occupation as she suffers withdrawal from the drug. However, Isobel is the least of Will's problems as he is also being blackmailed into marriage to a woman he has no feelings for. On the run and being hunted down keeps both Will and Isobel busy and in the process, they develop feelings for one another. This Elizabethan romance is fairly Gothin in in style but it is well written and fast-paced. Despite suffering from a war wound and having threats made against him, Will is a very fallible hero but nevertheless does the right things for the right reasons. Isobel just needs time to escape the clutches of the drugs being pushed down her throat for her true character to come through and she proves to be a strong and witty heroine. This book is also a standalone and comes to a happy conclusion. I received a copy of this novel through NetGalley as this is my honest and voluntary review.

Isobel Marston was waiting for her brother to come home from war. Somehow her cousin had taken over her home and kept her drugged with poppies. He had ransacked her home and anything worth money was sold. Even her precious Harpsichord. Her cousin kept telling her it was brain sickness. She could not trust her memory of anything. She heard steps outside and creeped out of her room and tiptoed to the gallery above the main entrance and looked down.
Sir William Cavendish was tall, and a broad-shouldered man. He was a friend of Edward Marston's. and had died in his arms. When he finally saw her, she looked like she had just stepped out of a madhouse. Will didn't like the way her cousin spoke, as if she were not a person.
At first, I thought that the language was kind of stiff but I think it was the way they spoke without colloquial idiom.
It was an excellent tale and thank goodness William came before she died. The characters were eloquent and worthwhile. So many things got in their way to discover all that had gone on. The author did a great job of keeping our minds engaged and entertained. You want to cheer the characters on. It was well worth the time to read this wonderful book. I do highly recommend it.
I received this ARC from Net Galley and voluntarily reviewed it.

Isobel Marston knows somewhere in the back of her very muddled mind that she is not ill like her cousin says. Unfortunately, because of the medicine they keep feeding her she can't keep her thoughts together very long.

Sir William Cavendish has come back from war . Luckily for his reputation at Queen Elizabeth's court is nobody knows where he was or what he's been doing. He needs to deliver some terrible news to the sister of his bestfriend, and keep his promise to look after her.

Our characters in this story will face more than their share of trouble. Women in this period of history had very little control or recourse against villainous male relatives.

A fascinating insight into life in Queen Elizabeth's London.

I loved it.

Holy smokes! Lord Of Loyalty is an awesome historical romance by Elizabeth Keysian. The more I read from this author, the more I want. This book is one of those you just can't put down once you start it. You've been warned. Ms. Keysian has knocked this one out of the park! Isobel is being drugged by her cousin and his minions to try to get as much of her money as they can. Sir William Cavendish was wounded but has promised Edward as he was dying that he would see to his sister. Instead of the woman Edward described, William arrived to find a drugged mess of a woman. William and Isobel's story is loaded with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. I was glued to my e-reader from the first page till the last and can't wait to read my next book by Elizabeth Keysian. Lord Of Loyalty is book 2 of the Trysts and Treachery Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
