A road trip to an orgy, with spicy love scenes, yet as sappy as a Hallmark movie. Widow Beatrice, at 46, is determined to enjoy her life now that she is free of her boring, miserable husband. Duncan, 34, has returned from war and is now depressed and not sure what to do with his life. He has always followed every rule and doesn’t know what to make of Beatrice. He agrees to escort her on her trip to the weekend orgy. One escapade follows another. A little Ferris Bueller, a little Footloose. There is some fun banter as she teases him about his strict following of the rules. I can only wish the acceptance shown for each character’s lifestyle had been true then, or even true today.

Waiting for a Scot Like You might be my favorite Eva Leigh book yet. Absolutely delightful main characters that both learn and grow with truly fantastic development. The synopsis had me at "stoic major" and it didn't let me down once. Beatrice and Duncan are a perfectly-matched, opposites-attract, maybe-they're-not-so-opposite-at-all sort of couple, and I loved them immediately.

Sweet, fun, deeply emotional and heartfelt, and incredibly sexy, this is a favorite destined to be read and reread many times.

I received a digital advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

First off I have been waiting for Duncans story he has been my favorite from the last two books so let's say I have had high hopes for him .

So the age gap was a turn off but you get over it quickly. They seem opposites attract at first too. beatrice wants to get out and live a life and Adventure

I don't want to give alot away because this was my favorite book out of the series and I could ruin it for everyone but let me tell you this is a read in private steam book I loved every kinky moment out of the book. The road trip was fantastic In the book. I love the two of them getting to know each other and than really getting to know each other.

As always I love the mention of past characters and future ones as well. This book was a great read and I hope to get more characters from the boys school group as always I felt we didn't get enough of their stories from school and the past but alas that's been kindve what lacked in all the books but overall these have been great books and I love Eva always makes her woman independent strong willed woman it's always a great read when they have woman like that in books that are historical

I must say that I needed to give this book a five star rating. Eve Leigh had me laughing and sighing while reading this book. I enjoyed the humor as well as the oh so steamy parts. I found Beatrice a breath of fresh air for Duncan whose so uptight all the time. Beatrice genuine ways showed Duncan how not to take everything so seriously. I enjoyed the book. Good job. I voluntary reviewed this ARC after receiving a free gifted copy. <img src="https://www.netgalley.com/badge/21abbc6d2f62a80d56d9e8ae6c15dff82ebee8dc" width="80" height="80" alt="25 Book Reviews" title="25 Book Reviews"/>

I received a complimentary copy of Waiting for a Scott Like you n exchange for an honest review. I did not read the first books in the series, and found myself struggling with the introduction into the plot. Once I figured out that Beatrice and Duncan were the main characters, I enjoyed following them through one misadventure after another. There were some adult themes that didn't feel right in a historical romance such as orgy parties and homosexual relationships. I'm not opposed to these themes, but it didn't fit the era of the book. Overall, this was a fast paced and entertaining romance.

While I love Eva Leigh and I love the premise of this entire series, I have to admit this one was my least favorite. Now, don’t get me wrong: it’s still good, it’s still as sexy as any other Eva Leigh book, but there were a few things in here I couldn’t get behind.

Middle-aged MILF Lady Ferris is finally free from a sh*tty marriage and is eager to enjoy the freedom she deserves, including making her way to a country estate for an orgy. When the much younger Major McCameron is asked to escort her to the country, not only does not know her secret plans, he’s completely exasperated by her to the point of distraction. Sparks fly, or are supposed to, and the two foil each other’s plans.

It’s great to have a 45 year-old heroine, but Lady Ferris’ sheltered life and sh*tty marriage mean that she’s basically as naïve and as inexperienced as any blushing debutante. She seems gob-smacked by every little thing and finds the tiniest things indulgent. Her inexperience in the bedroom is laughable and, again, is literally no different than what one might expect from a virgin heroine. If we’re going to have an adult heroine, then let her act like an adult who has seen some things and lived some life.

I was also a little peeved at how Lady Ferris is described, with great detail being given to signs of aging, such as her slight crow’s feet. I get it, she’s not young. But we wouldn’t focus on a younger heroine’s imperfections—of if we did, readers would be asked to view them in powerful, empowering ways.. Here, it’s just used a proof that our naïve heroine has lived a few years past her prime and I hated it dearly.

Okay, so I’ve said that, but I can appreciate what Eva Leigh is doing here. I am here for this even though I obviously have had some thoughts about it.

Major Duncan McCameron is having a difficult time adjusting to peacetime life. He has spent too many years under rules and regulations to become free and easy with his new life. Rules kept him in line and that was all he knew. However, he has been given the chance to accompany Beatrice, the Dowager Countess of Farris, to
a rowdy house party in the country. Lady Beatrice is finally free of her stifling marriage and has shed herself of her widow weeds. She is looking for adventure, freedom, fun and hopefully she can teach the handsome ex-Scottish Soldier to loosen up along the way. What an interesting setting for this adventure; carriage crashes, robbers, learning to cook in an inn kitchen and birthing a lamb. This turns out to be quite an adventure and a real interesting book that keeps you turning the page. Thanks to Netgalley, the author, Eva Leigh; for writing this road trip as the main characters, come to terms with their lives and the adventures they share. If life could only turn out this fantastic, it is well worth the trip.

Setting regency England
Lady Farris needs an escort to a risque houseparty.
Duncan McCameron, gets coerced into taking her by his best friend.
A good story, but a bit spicy and used some bad language. I just fast forwarded through those parts.
3.5

Eva Leigh has put the best parts of the 80s movies and set them in Regency England and put an extraordinary woman, the widowed Lady Farris, with an amazing Scotsman, Duncan Mc Cameron, on a road trip that makes them both realize how amazing love is.

I enjoyed the other two books in the Union of the Rakes series, but I struggled with this book.
Beatrice is the widowed Countess of Farris who is happy that she is no longer trapped in a loveless marriage. She plans to travel to a nobleman's orgy, and the Duke of Rotherby tasks his friend, Major Duncan McCameron, to escort her on her journey. Duncan is drawn to Beatrice because of her kindness and her desire for adventure. Their journey is full of obstacles (a town that has outlawed dancing, a storm that ruins their carriage, etc.) and they pretend to be a married couple. They start a relationship, but they have opposing plans for the future. Duncan wants to get married, and Beatrice never wants to marry again. How can they make a relationship work if they want different things?

I initially enjoyed the characters of Duncan and Beatrice, but the plot of this book felt very cliché. I also struggled to see the attraction between Duncan and Beatrice because their characters were not fully developed. In this book, the instant love trope did not work. However, I was glad to see Rowe and Curtis in a loving relationship with one another. For fans of Joanna Shupe.

One of my favorite things about romance books is what the authors do with tropes. And the audacity of the set up of the just-one-bed trope made me laugh out loud. It's absurd and funny and ridiculous and I'm sure that there was a Bill and Ted reference in there, due to Eva Leigh's stated goal on Twitter to make this series very referential to 80s teen movies (this one was based on A Sure Thing, I'm almost sure of it).

I loved the way that Beatrice and Duncan interacted from the start. Because it started with an employer/employee relationship, perhaps, there was always the assumption that what Beatrice wanted went and there was no macho or courtly or toxic masculinity from Duncan. The older woman/younger man relationship was great.

OMG!

I really adored this one by Eva Leigh. Duncan is a younger man but has lived through a terrible war and still has scars from it.
Bea is finally free from a hard marriage and now a widow past marriageable age in London society, she decides to join an orgy party (gasp!) to finally find pleasure.
With Duncan escorting her there on her secret mission, her eyes land on him and Duncan can't escape his feelings for her. Does he bend the rules just this once????
A hot and sultry read with lots of adventure and sparks!

Such a fun adventure! Beatrice is a widow who wants to explore her newfound freedom. This of course includes a road trip to an orgy. As you do. And of course she needs a trusted escort in Duncan. Calamity ensues. Then the dark moment, which hurt my heart to read. But it’s romance, and so HEA is guaranteed and thus my heart is restored.

Also, the cover is gorgeous. Love that the heroine has gray hair.

Thank you HarperCollins and NetGalley for the ARC!

3,5 stars. UNION OF THE RAKES is just a super fun series. Are the 80s movies references cheesy? Yes. Do they make the books infinitely more fun? Also yes. I love Duncan and Beatrice and even if this was my least favorite of the trilogy, I still really enjoyed their story. I'm crossing my fingers we get some sort of Curtis/Rowe novella!

This was a decent historical, opposites attract romance . Major Duncan agrees to accompany the recent widow Beatrice to a destination of her choice. Along the journey they develop a sizzling attraction to each that culminates with them in bed with each other. While Duncan wants forever, Beatrice is content with a lifetime of togetherness without the constraints of marriage. This had an erotica twist and felt at times like a modern romance.
I’m glad Duncan came around in the end since he was getting pretty annoying with his righteous demands for marriage.

This book reminds you that opposite attracts. Heroine Beatrice is much older, and hero Duncan is 12 years younger.

He is out from the military, and does everything by the book. While she is widowed and looking to experience the life that she was denied by a unhappy marriage.

He escorts her to a weekend bacchanal party. On their way there, incidents happen one after another to where they have to share a bed. You can feel the tension and attraction happening between the two.

Very Steamy and Hot. Bonus is it references and does small little takes on movies from the 80s such as foot loot loose, the breakfast club, Ferris Bueller's Day off etc

If you like road trips, age gaps, a book with heat then this book is for you.

3.5 stars. This is a trapped in the same space trope (traveling in a carriage 1817). Retired military officer Major Duncan McCameron has been asked to escort a lady on a journey to a house party. He is a rule follower and is looking to fulfill his roll with precision. Lady Beatrice Farris is a Dowager Countess. At the age of 46 she has three grown children, survived a dull marriage and three years or widowhood. She is now ready to experience every adventure of life. Mishaps slows their progress to her destination as their attraction grows.

I found a lot of humor in the story. And I appreciated having an older heroine who knows she wants to experience the world. She has a modern ideas and I enjoyed the discussions woman rights, independence. The Major was 12 years younger but his years of doing his duty in the military make them equals. He wasn't a hero to me in the traditional sense. But he does grow and change on the journey as well.

The mishaps and adventures along the journey were entertaining. I was not expecting how explicit the steamy scenes were or how many f-words were used (in context). I didn't mark down because of them, but wanted to give warning. This is the third in the series but it worked fine alone. I enjoyed the author will look for the first two in the series. Thank you to NetGalley, Avon and Harper Voyager for an ARC ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you for the e-ARC NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I adored the final installment of Leigh's Union of the Rakes series. The 80's movie references were more overt in this one, and the road trip plot followed some BANANAS trails, but it was a lot of fun to read. A hero and heroine to root for. Swoon-worthy scenes and a great sense of humor. This wasn't my favorite of the series, but I enjoyed reading it shortly after #2 Would I Lie to the Duke.

In her third The Union of the Rakes novel, Eva Leigh delivers a madcap romp through the English countryside and 80’s movie plots with a solid foundation of complex character development and genuine feeling. Trope heavy in the best way possible (yes, the classic “there’s only one bed” absolutely makes an appearance), this romance is bound to be a winner with genre fans and movie-lovers alike.
