This is another completely gripping and unputdownable read which I have devoured in just one sitting.

I absolutely adore Rona's books, she has a way of pulling you in and making it completely impossible to predict where the story is going.

I have loved the characters in this book, each of them real and likeable. The plot of this is completely unique to anything I've read previously and I have literally been on the edge of my seat.

I love how easily this has flowed, I've been completely pulled in and on times suspicious of all characters.

This book is so good, I'd even go as far as saying that it is my favourite of Rona's books. This is without a doubt a five star read which I highly recommend.

This is a domestic drama with manipulating characters and a child in the midst. The story is fast paced but the suspense is predictable. The main character is unstable and whining which makes connecting with the book difficult. An okay read.

This was definitely one of those books that kept you guessing all the way through trying to work out who the culprit was.

Someone is poisoning Becca's daughter, Mia and the blame is being pinned on her, but she knows she's innocent, but where to even start with the real poisoner?

Her husband Dean who has become increasingly distant?
The Childminder, Ruth who seems to have an unhealthy obsession with Mia?
Her sister Kate, who is resentful that Becca doesn't have the time to look after their elderly father?
Is it her father who wants more time with his daughter?
Is it the ex -boyfriend in Australia, his Twitter account says he's in OZ, but is he really?

I suspected all of the above at different times and kept changing my mins which makes this a gripping read.

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book. This is my honest opinion.

It’s 1am and I’ve just finished this gripping rollercoaster of a book.
When they say “Unputdownable” it truly is!
Wow! The emotions, the twists and turns, this book is guaranteed to keep you guessing right to the end, but I promise you will never guess!
I loved it, loved the characters, loved the plot, loved the writing style - everything. It’s absolutely fantastic and my top read so far this month - I rated it a strong 5 stars and highly recommend it to all psychological thriller fans out there.

Another Grand Slam for this Author. I am biased. I have read and loved all her books. Someone is trying to drive Becca crazy. Her daughter gets very ill frequently. Her husband is always away working. Becca's first love contacts her on social media. Or does he? Becca is blamed for Mia's poisoning and must find out who it is. No lack of suspects although I did not expect who it was. Loved the ending. Excellent book. Can't wait for what comes next from this Author. Thanks to NetGalley, Bookoutre and the Author for allowing me to read and review this book.

I was given an ARC for an honest review. Thank you Net Galley 😊
There were a lot of twists & turns throughout this book. I kept trying to guess who the culprit was & didn’t get it right until I was far into the book. Becca was a great, loving Mom but the story had you guessing. The book also shows mental illness & how it affects the person & the family. I enjoyed this book ! First time for this author.

When Becca’s first love, Connor, shows up on her Twitter feed, she can’t help but smile fondly. Then he sends her a message. He sounds happy – still kind and funny, still living across the world in Australia. But he wants to know everything about her life now.

Becca hesitates, knowing she shouldn’t even reply. But Connor lives on the other side of the world. Just how dangerous can becoming friends again be? Plus, she is currently having problems in her marriage and needs someone to talk to.

But then her daughter Mia gets sick and its discovered that someone is poisoning her. The blame falls on Becca and she is stopped from having any contact with Mia.

Soon, it starts to become clear – someone will do absolutely anything to make sure Becca never escapes her past…

This was a well written psychological thriller that has all the twists and turns to keep you engaged. There are so many characters whom you can suspect, each having a different motive, that it gets so exciting to know who the real culprit might be. When the final end is revealed, you realise that nobody can be trusted!

The only flaw for me in this book was Becca, because at times I found her slightly irritating. I just wished that her character would have portrayed as a little bit more stronger rather than as whining one. It would have been a little more enjoyable.

Thank You to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!

Well that really blew my mind! What a twisted, deceptive web the author wove. My thoughts were constantly changing about what I thought was going on in the story. I absolutely LOVE books like this. It kept me guessing until the very end! I will definitely be checking out this authors other books.

I really enjoyed this domestic thriller. From the very beginning I was hooked and didn’t want it to end. Lots of great twists and turns. Every time I thought I had it figured out things changed. Awesome characters, conflicts and love stories.
The question is, who can you trust? I highly recommend this book!!

I would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. I have always been a huge fan of Rona Halsall ever since I read her first book. I have gobbled each and every one of them up, always wanting more. This book is no exception. Without giving anything away, I will say this book was a wild ride from start to finish. With an interesting, fast paced plot and twists you didn’t see coming, you won’t want to put this one down.

The Ex-Boyfriend is my very first Rona Halsall novel and boy it got my attention. So much so, that I read the book in a single day. A first single day read for me. I just couldn't put it down.

Mia is the three year old daughter of Becca and Dean Thornton. Mia is being poisoned and the suspect of Mia's poisoning is Becca. Becca is a nurse, so how can that be? Coincidentally, the poisoning started when Becca's ex-boyfriend, Conner, starts tweeting messages to her in an attempt to reconnect. Maybe it is Becca, being that she is stuck in a not so happy marriage.

So many suspects and so many theories come into play as you read the novel. Who will be your suspects and what will be your theories? Mine were wrong as I found out in a surprising ending.

A gripping 5 stars for an unputdownable read. I will definitely keep Rona Halsall on my radar.

I received a digital ARC from Bookouture through NetGalley. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.

This was a story with so many twists I was constantly second guessing myself throughout. The characters are all well written and I felt myself desperate to keep reading to find out the truth of everything.

The author has written something which kept me so gripped that I read this book in one sitting. That’s a sign of a great book for me. Highly recommended for those who want a read which will have them guessing.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing a copy.

I have read other books by Rona Halsall and it usually is a hit or miss for me.

Unfortunately, this book was a miss.Early on in the story we get told already that Mia is being poisoned, so we know what to look out for.
The main character, who is supposed to be a nurse, was at times just really stupid. The main whodunnit wasn't that difficult to predict, and I did not feel like the plot twist was executed very well.

Overall, a disappointing read.

Rona Halsall has done it again! An excellent psychological thriller that has you doubting everything and everyone. A young child is being systematically poisoned and everything points to her overprotective mum; a mum who has previously been suspected of harming her patients and been accused of factitious illness (Munchousen by proxy). Though cleared of those charges she subsequently suffered a bout of mental illness brought on by the stress of fighting those charges . Now , even those closest to her suspect it could be happening again. In the midst of this trauma her ex boyfriend has started messaging her, leading her to question her marriage to Dean, who is becoming every more distant and engrossed in his work. Nothing and nobody can be trusted! There are so many red herrings in this book you'll need a fishing net! I thought I had it all figured out but no...I really didn't see the ending coming . A great read !

This was a very good psychological thriller. I liked the theme of what happens when false accusations are made against you. I did guess who was responsible for everything but there was definitely room for doubt and I was compulsively turning the pages to find out how everything turned out.

The only issue I had is that I just did not like Becca. It wasn't a problem with the writing at all because people like her do exist but I found her incredibly irritating. In the beginning she is constantly whinging about being exhausted but she only works three short shifts a week (and her husband has told her she could even give those up if she needs to) and she seems to have no shortage of people to help her out with childcare so I didn't particularly understand what she was moaning about. Also maybe she would have been able to get more done if she'd spent less time mooning over her ex-boyfriend (although I appreciate the plot would not have been possible if that were the case!)

I do struggle a bit to form an emotional connection when I dislike the main character so much but the writing was very good and I absolutely loved how well everything was tied up at the end (no loose ends) so overall I did really enjoy it.

The Ex-Boyfiend is a fantastic domestic thriller. I was on the edge of my seat from the beginning and trying to figure out what was going on.

Mia, a 3 year old, is being poisoned and Becca, the mother, is the prime suspect. Becca is trying to figure out who is actually poisoning her daughter. She is worried about her daughter and trying to figure out who is setting her up. Becca is having problems with her marriage and her ex-boyfriend just found her on twitter. Becca is trying to help her sister out more with her dad. The poison has to be coming from someone close to Mia. Who can Becca trust knowing it is someone in her circle? How can Becca protect her daughter when she isn’t allowed to see her?

I highly recommend The Ex-Boyfriend to domestic thriller fans. The Ex-boyfriend is a book you won’t want to put down. Everyone has secrets. Everyone is suspicious, so you have to wait until the very end to find out who is poisoning Mia.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Becca is a District Nurse, her husband, Dean, works away a lot, and they have a young daughter Mia.
Out of the blue Becca receives a text from her ex Connor who lives in Australia, after questioning herself whether she should reply, she decides that she isn't causing any harm. Hence, she starts exchanging messages with him.
Another great piece of writing by Rona Halsall, I have come to expect nothing less. An exceptional plot, the twists and turns kept coming. I highly recommend this psychological thriller.
Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and author Rona Halsall for a pre-publication to review.

Wow I loved this book and could not put it down. When Becca’s daughter keeps having bouts of illness she is convinced that it’s not just a virus and something else is going on. As Becca tries to get to the bottom of it the suspicion starts to fall on her and as events from her past start to be used against her along with contact from her first love things start to spiral out of control. I kept changing my mind about what was going on even right to the end of the book and as always Rona does not disappoint.
