I thought this was a cute read. The multiple timelines was interesting. Elgin’s character was heartwarming to read about.part of me wanted more from this book, but I do not have any outstanding thoughts that I feel like I need to actually mention.

A moving story of estrangement and reconciliation; an engaging read that weaves seamlessly between timelines. Well written with relatable characters. A hint of mystery makes this book an entertaining page turner. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to review this ARC

Bittersweet look at life and the people in it. The memories and experiences the main character has is heartbreaking and healing.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

Honestly, I requested this book because I loved the last one I read by this author. Sometimes you just have to take a chance...every now and then you are wrong but I wasn't this time. It was not AS good as the Red Address Book but I really liked it in general. Elin is our main character, along with her family, past and present. She is a very in demand photographer who never seems to be at home with her family and one day they get tired of it. The daughter moves to the dorm and the husband just kind of moves out. When this happens, Elin has nothing but time to spend thinking about her past and what has brought her to this point. It is a past that her family has no idea about because she isn't who she's told them she is. I really enjoyed the past vs present and I enjoyed watching the growth of the characters throughout the book. I would recommend to anyone who also likes character development stories :)

This was such a sweet and eye-opening read. I loved the multiple timelines that went back and forth from for the main character and how they related her childhood so perfectly to her current life as a mother. I also adored how we got to see the main character as a mother and how Alice, her daughter, was so charismatic.

I loved this story and the main character, Erin. I enjoy a book which tells its story by going backwards and forwards in time as that tends to keep me hooked as the story unfolds slowly and gradually. The stark contrast between young Erin and present day Erin made the story easy to follow. My only complaint was that I felt it ended too suddenly! I actually turned to the next page looking for more and couldn’t believe it was actually finished. Without giving any spoilers, it wasn’t a poor ending more that I just wanted another chapter. All in all, a really good read,

This book is a testament to emotional depravity of which Elin tried to conceal the first thirteen years of her life from her family. Due to this, she refuses to open up and cannot even say she loves her daughter Alice. She hides behind a camera and created beauty out of things rather than find beauty in living. The chapters about her childhood were tough to read due to the immense poverty and struggles but she is a strong and determined woman. I was glad she returned back to Sweden and had a chance to.start again.

Thank you NetGalley Publisher & Author for this ARC.

This was a very good book. Such a heartwarming story from start to finish.
I enjoyed the character Elin.
A family story about a woman learning to love, from the city of New York’s fashion scene to a remote, windswept Swedish island.
Pretty good book.

Thanks Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for allowing me to have access to this book.

Love.Lies.Reunion.

This story focuses on Elin, a photographer in New York. This book takes place in the past and the present. For me it took a while to get into the story but near the end I was drawn in. It shows the delicacy of life and how certain things stick with you for the rest of your life. This book focuses on finding yourself, love, and trying to suppress certain things that you go through.

This book was super good. It was super original and I flew through it. It didn't feel like anything I've read in the past. Can't wait to read more from the author!! This book was unputdownable.

I loved The Red Address Book so I was thrilled to get a chance to read this book early. This was a beautiful book about a woman trying to find peace with her past. Elin has a great life and family but is haunted by the struggles of her youth. This book was heartbreaking and moving and kept me engaged the whole time. The story alternates between two time periods, which I always enjoy.

It's New York 2017. I liked Elin. The dialogue was okay. The tone and pacing was okay. I was curious to see what would happen to Elin.

Somewhat predictable but entertaining. A good beach read and page turner. Book will probably do well given that people will continue to look for simple escapes.

What can I say? I am quite literally crying and thanking Sofia Lindbergh for giving me this gift. I was a huge fan of The Red Address Book and this book was not a disappointment.

Taking place in Sweden in the 1970’s and NYC in 2017, It is the exquisitely written story of Elin and her childhood of poverty and abuse to her career as a star in the fashion industry. The descriptions are so rich that I felt I had traveled to Sweden, to her tiny village. I shared the night her life changed and the 30 years of missed communication and misunderstandings.

I want to ramble on, but I don’t want to be a spoiler. Let it suffice to say this will be on every Best of 2021 Reading lists. I know that I will recommend this novel to my reading groups and woman’s studies seminars, because at its’ heart, it is a novel of mothers and daughters.

Thank you Netgalley and Sofia Lindberg for this jewel.
