I was unfamiliar with Robert Whitlow's work before reading Trial and Error. Had the tags or the description revealed that this book is filled with the power of Christian prayer I would not have read it. That said, I did not find this to be a satisfying read.
Cons: The description "legal thriller" is misleading. The book highlights the search for a long-missing daughter and her mother and the search for a recently missing teenager. The searches come together in an improbable conclusion. The relationships among the principal characters are not developed fully, even though the characters themselves are fairly well drawn. There is a "romance" that is so chaste that it is unbelievable. No one is shamed by any of their actions. In other words, the actions of the book rest apart from reality. It's a "G" book in an "R" world.
Pros: Whitlow is an accomplished plotter. The story moves along and the book can be read fairly quickly.
I know that there will be a receptive audience for this novel. I'm just not one of that group.

Oh mayn I have been sleeping on Robert Whitlow but now I am awake. This is my first Robert Whitlow and forgive me but Buddy Smith can be my friend any day. This book was so good although hard hitting and emotionally testing because of the missing girls and one of them is his daughter. The way the author weaved together an unforgettable plot, incredible characters and the way they were interwoven together is amazing . If you like fiction with a law aspect then highly recommend it. Huge thanks to Thomas Nelson for my ARC

One thing I love the most about Robert Whitlow's books is beyond being entertained by a layered story, his books always give me deep spiritual truths, I have not read one of his books without coming away convicted. Especially about my prayer life and witnessing to other people. The importance of Salvation is always covered and I end the book always feeling an intense need to tell others about Christ.

TRIAL AND ERROR by ROBERT WHITLOW is a fast paced legal drama with a great plot, unforgettable characters and a strong Christian message.
With lawyer Buddy Smith, clerk of court and softball coach Gracie Blaylock and detective Mayleah Harkness, we are thrust into a world of domestic abuse, kidnapped children, drugs and sex trafficking, as they join forces to find a kidnapped child and a missing teenager. Underneath it all is Buddy's search for his high school girlfriend who disappeared with their daughter a few days after the baby was born.
It is a story about reconciliation, restoration, forgiveness and much more, and the author shows his understanding of human nature in the way he draws us into the hopes and fears of the different characters and their interaction with one another.
I found Trial and Error both exciting and inspirational, and highly recommend the novel to anyone who enjoys this genre.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Thomas Nelson. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

This author is one of my favorites, and this book may be my favorite of all I’ve read. A couple of major storylines are developed and they keep lawyer Buddy busy. Both involve finding missing girls, and one is his daughter whom he hasn’t seen since the week she was born. Three ladies interact with Buddy: his mother, a police detective, and a court clerk/softball coach.. These relationships are well developed and vital to this story. The power of prayer is also evident, important, but not overbearing.

I've read several books by Robert Whitlow and have enjoyed them all. His books are easy to follow and very fast paced. Many times I had to stop reading and didn't want to. I highly recommend this book and anything else that he's written.
