This is a book looking into the Gilgamesh legend, showing how the nature of your story makes you immortal. the book is very academic. Its a great cultural expression of middle eastern history.

i really enjoyed reading this book, the characters were great and I really enjoyed the mystery aspect in this book. I look forward to more from the author.

Have you ever read or heard of Epic of Gilgamesh?
This book explores this ancient poem and in so doing- unravels how the body, mind and spirit connect and that we need also to explore this tri-factor as human beings/spiritual beings.
I'll admit that the first quarter of the book I was thrown off because of all the various theories and references shared in the beginning. The author may have felt the need to expound on this and prepare the reader for what angle he was exploring in the poem and in general- Gilgamesh' and Enkindu's relationship.

This book reads more like someone's dissertation on connections between neuropsychology and the interpretation of ancient mythos. The description implied that we would get a new and dynamic interpretation of the epic of Gilgamesh, but it's more like sections of the epic interlaced with sporadic commentary that does little to interpret the story in a unique fashion.

Instead, we're given quick summaries of large pieces of the original text, along with the random ties to neuropsychology.

There are also repeated references to other books in the New Muse series, whether or not the references provided anything of value to the discussion at hand; we're told more details are provided in another book and not actually given any of those details, I don't see how they provide us with anything helpful.

All in all, I was disappointed and found this book to be deeply different from its description.

Spiritual delight, afterall we are immortal energy, immortal souls.
