Forgetting you
By: LA Casey

Was it worth the pain!?

Oh these two could not have broken my heart more. Two kind people that love deeply but loose big for no other reason than fear of the what if’s. The author writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Authors Blurb: When Noah Ainsley wakes up in a hospital room with no recollection of how she got there, all she knows is that she needs to see Elliot, the love of her life. Then she learns the horrifying truth: her short-term memory has been destroyed by a car accident . She and Elliot broke up five years ago. And now she’s married to Anderson, a man she doesn’t even recognise. In an instant Noah’s world is turned on its head. All she wants is Elliot by her side, but it’s clear Anderson is hurt by her rejection. Can she really have fallen in love with this stranger? Nothing makes sense—and when even Elliot refuses to answer her questions, Noah is left feeling all alone.
But as her memories slowly return, Noah begins to wonder if she’s been wrong to shut Anderson out and wrong to put all her trust in Elliot. The ex she loves and the husband she doesn’t remember hold the keys to her past. And when the truth is finally revealed, which future will Noah’s heart choose?

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕

It's been a while since I've read an L.A. Casey book and while it isn't one of my favorites from her, it did make me want to go on a binge of her books so that's my plan for the next few days lol.

I did guess the twist from the beginning but I'm one of those people who don't mind that. The story did intrigue me enough to read it in one sitting though! I really wanted to know if my suspicions were correct lol.

I actually liked the story well enough and I love L.A. Casey's writing, but I just couldn't connect to any of the characters so that's why it's a lower rating. Maybe I've been reading way too many dark romances lately because the romance between the two characters was a bit too sweet at times (I also have no idea if I should name them because I don't want to ruin the twist for anyone).

But I am a big fan of L.A. Casey so I know that this won't stop me from looking forward to her next releases! This year has been a year of rediscovering old author favorites and I'm loving it! I can't wait to go back to her other books!

Um. I'm going to attempt to write this review without giving more than basic spoilers, but there's a lot to unpack. So fair warning.

It... wasn't great. I've read books by this author before, so I was intrigued by the blurb and looking forward to a mysterious, unique story. But this is the hottest of messes. Mixing flashbacks with present day, we get snippets of the relationship between Noah (heroine) and Elliot, before and after things fell apart for them. Noah's husband is part of the story, but remains an afterthought throughout, so if you're not a fan of cheating, then this one won't be for you (more on that in a minute). It's also got body shaming, a manhoe ex, a stupid breakup, and plenty of triggers.

The story follows Noah as she wakes up in the hospital. She's got no memories of the last four years, so when she discovers that she's married, it seems all wrong. Last Noah knew, she was very much in love with Elliot, and now he's not even a part of her life. But the accident brought him back into her orbit, and the feelings between them are as strong as ever. As Noah tries to remember the last few years, she struggles with all of the changes in her life.

This could've been great and it really just... wasn't. We only get little pieces of Noah and Elliot's relationship and the flashbacks are told out of order, so it was difficult to root for them - especially since Noah is married. Not that that stopped her at all. Yes, they sleep together with little regard to the fact that she's got a husband who has declared his love for her and she doesn't remember their relationship. Noah simply moves on without informing him that she's doing so. Noah is also extremely upset to discover that's she's "fat" (size 16), and believes Elliot would be embarrassed to be seen with her. There are some comments made that will likely offend some readers, especially since size 16 is in fact average. And let's not forget the reason they broke up. The reasoning behind it does NOT paint Noah in the best light, but I also hated that Elliot became a manhoe afterwards despite still being very much in love with Noah. Because of course he did. There's no falling in love in this "romance," these two are essentially ready to forget that the last 4 years ever happened. So don't go into this one for the love story, but the drama is also extremely predictable. That all adds up to a book that's not all that fulfilling to read. I appreciated receiving an early copy via NetGalley (and am voluntarily leaving a review), but I can't say that this was a winner for me.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book (given by Netgalley)...

3.5 stars

I really really wanted to like this book, but I just couldn’t get past Noah’s selfishness. It’s really hard to review this book without giving away major spoilers so I will try to be vague as possible.

The book starts in the present and flashes to past a few times, I usually dislike that in books especially when it’s over done, but it flowed very smoothly here. Right from the beginning there is a tragedy, Elliot’s baby sister, Bailey, is killed the same car crash that Noah was injured in.

Essentially I did enjoy the story and especially the characters, except for the one shall not be named, but Noah was major issue for me. In my opinion, her actions made her go from strong willed girl who knew what she wanted to a selfish woman who only cared about what she wanted. It just seemed odd for a relationship like Elliot and Noah’s, that portrayed them as soulmates to be so easily decimated. Also, Noah’s ability to move on so quickly and seriously after they ended was a major wtf moment.

Even with amnesia she didn’t really care about much except what she wanted; now mind you things weren’t as them seemed, but Noah didn’t give any thoughts to her husband as she continually tried to seduce Elliot. Even Elliot’s fellow fighters thought it was wrong for them to continue like they were together when she was clearly married. I mean Noah moves in with Elliot and didn’t even file for divorce, her mother had to set up everything.

It just felt off like I knew something wasn’t right, even with her marriage something seemed off, but Noah was just fine doing whatever she wanted and letting her “heart” lead the way.

In the end, my favorite person was Elliot because he was, as Noah called him, a gentlemen and I loved him from beginning to end. Quite honestly, the reason and the way they broke up, kind of made me hate Noah and just want to hug Elliot.

Also, out of all the people to call for help in a dangerous situation you ask the youngest person you know?

It wasn’t my favorite book, but I did enjoy it and I would have rated it much higher if Noah wasn’t so self absorbed.

TW for domestic abuse.

I always enjoy a plot with amnesia. What will they remember? Will they come back to themselves? Mix in two love interests from past and present - sign me up!

I did enjoy Noah and Elliot’s journey. However, I was confused with the lack of substance in the character development. I feel they could have been built up more. I was a little stressed with the lack of resources for aiding the mental health struggles.

Overall, it was an enjoyable read. I will read more from this author. Thanks to Netgalley for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This story will grab you attention right from the first page. Suspense, drama and a beautiful second chance love story. Overall a very enjoyable read, I couldn’t put it down!

Forgetting You was my first book by this author and I was very intriqued by the blurb. I was instanty hooked by the story line, though the back and forth from past to present did seem a bit much and a little confusing at times. I do think it may have taken away from the story a little.

Noah wakes up in a hospital following a car accident and has memory loss and believes that she is still in a relationship with Elliot, even though they broke up many years earlier and she is currently married to another man. Even weirder is that Noah is no longer close to anyone in her life, like her parents, and she has no idea why. And to add in more weirdness, Elliot's sister was in the same accident as Noah even though they hadn't talked for years.

I found this book highly engaging, though fairly predictable. I absolutely loved Elliot. I enjoyed the author's writing style and would definitely be interested in reading more of her other work.

Sorry but I could not get into this book at all. The storyline sounded good but the writing style is not my cup of tea.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

**I received an e-ARC of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

When Noah wakes up in the hospital after a car accident, she has totally forgotten the last five years of her life. In her mind, she is still in love with her boyfriend, Elliot, but in reality, they broke up years ago and she is now married to Anderson, a man who she doesn’t even remember. Now Noah is faced with the dilemma of which man to trust.

While I was very intrigued by the concept of this book, the execution was not a win for me. The dialogue was rough for me to read and the way Elliot’s Irish accent was written felt very unnatural. The way the characters behaved also felt very unrealistic. Noah is in the hospital, healing from a serious brain injury and fractured leg, but she is all over Elliot?! I don’t think sex would be high in my mind in that situation. The treatment Noah receives seems silly too—no one recommends counseling or some sort of therapy...no one is worried that she doesn’t remember her husband or that he is being totally excluded from her treatment and recovery?

The whole idea that Noah and Elliot were together for years, then broke up during an argument when Elliot admitted he didn’t want to get married, and then...never spoke again?! Really? Elliot never tried to talk to her again and just let her go? Noah was so broken from that that like a week later, she finds herself in an abusive relationship and quickly gets married and stops talking to her family? I just don’t believe that a mentally healthy person could become that unsure of herself in that amount of time.

There were just too many things about this book that made it a bit too far fetched to be enjoyable. I read the entire book, but quickly figured out the “twist” early on. The climax of the book fell flat. I just never really connected with any of the characters. I wanted to love it, but “Forgetting You” was entirely disappointing.

Noah Ainsley can't remember who she's been for the last five years or how she got there after waking up in the hospital. Feeling battered and bruised, the only person in the world she wants to see is her boyfriend Elliot. To her shock, she's married, but not to Elliot, to a complete stranger named Anderson. As Noah tries to remember who she is and what happened, she can't shake the feeling that something is seriously wrong.

I love amnesia as part of a plot, and I think that LA Casey did a great job of capturing the struggle. I also think she did a good job portraying abuse and the secrecy and isolation surrounding it. The only thing I wish the book had more of was interactions with Anderson, he didn't really become a big part of the story until the end, although I do understand it's more of a second chance with Noah and Elliot. Overall this is a well-written book, with good characters, it has second chance romance and some suspense. It's definitely not a light read, but I did enjoy it.

This is likely meant to be a second chance romance but it's not quite. Noah is shocked when she wakes up after a car accident and discovers that she's married to Anderson not Elliott. How did she end up in the hospital? Well, there's a lot of drama there and that's really what this is about- bad marriage, a terrible relationship, and a second chance. No spoilers from me but you might see what's going to happen (or has happened) early on. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

You know sometimes you start reading a book, and you just know you’re going to love it, and it’s going to draw you in. This happens to me occasionally, and Forgetting You was one of those stories. I was hooked from the first chapter. I had a good idea which way the story was going to go (and I wasn’t far off the mark). It was such a sweet, emotional read. Noah Ainsley loses 5 years of her life to amnesia following a car accident. This means she doesn’t remember splitting up with her boyfriend and marrying another man. Awkward! Especially when the powers that be don’t allow her husband to visit her, it doesn’t help that Noah still thinks she’s in love with her old boyfriend. Wonderful characters (I just adored Elliot so much), and a couple of plot twists mixed in with a little drama in this wonderfully written emotional romance. An entertaining and addictive storyline. I loved it. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.

I truly enjoyed this book. I wasn’t sure since I read a couple of the other reviews before reading this book but it was soo good! This book pulled your emotional heart strings. Definitely one of my favorite reads this year.

This is a book with an amnesia trope on it. That is the main reason it got me interested on this book. It's been a while since I read a book whose main character has amnesia. I had high hopes for this book.

After reading this, I'm half-half on the rating. It has elements on it that I like and some things that I also don't like.

On this story, Noah, our main heroine was in an accident and woke up and forgotten 5 years worth of memories. Apparently, she's now married and estranged on a lot of her loved ones.

Now came in Elliot, her former boyfriend. But Noah still think that he is her boyfriend. This premise is quite exciting for me. But the execution of the plot fell flat for me.

The mystery part is somehow predictable and I already knew where it is going because this book has a dual pov format. The shifting from past to present time affected the 'continuity' of the book for me.

I like the characters but some choices they made contradicts the persona they are trying to portray. Also we have a one dimensional villain that doesn't have that much exposure.

It is still okay but did not blow my mind.

***Thanks for netgalley, the publisher and author for making this available for review.***

Like all of LA Casey's books, Forgetting You was well-written, but unfortunately I didn't find this book engrossing at all. It was tough to connect and relate to the characters, and I felt bored most of the time. The plot twist was also easy to predict.

Loved all of the plot twists in this story. Noah and Elliot go through a lot to find love and many hardships. From the car crash and healing that Noah must endure to regaining her memory and learning her past. Elliot dealing with the loss of his sister, the love of his life and learning how to live again. Was a really good story that makes you truly appreciate family and those you love foŕ being in your life.

I’m used to reading mostly romcoms, so Forgetting You was definitely darker than the stories I usually prefer.
Noah has lost her memory of the last 5 years due to a car accident. Throughout the book there is a mystery to figure out not only what caused the accident but also explanations for relationships in her life. The book stays intriguing throughout the story even as various questions are slowly answered.
I personally did not like the vulgar language and steam level in this book. I felt the language distracted me from the story at times. I skipped ahead in a couple of open door chapters.
I also had a problem with her body issues that she experiences from not recognizing her current size. I didn’t like that throughout the entire story she was weak (due to her injury) and there was a strong man to save the day. I hoped that she would have some kind of personal strength to help her recover but instead the story consistently glorified masculine protection. The second half of the book was better than the first half, but this just wasn’t my type of story.
On the plus side, the love interest, Elliot, is an Irish fireman who sounds incredibly attractive and more importantly he seems like a really good man. At first the Irish dialect (only Elliot) was difficult to read, but then I got used to it and it became endearing. There were some obvious clues leading to the ending but it was still fun to guess theories and then discover the truth along with Noah.
