This is an exceptional guide to reducing or eliminating plastic, especially packaging, from your life. Worth reviewing regularly as you make progress in living lighter and greener.

This book is a complete wealth of knowledge for anyone looking to decrease their use of plastics! It is laid out in such an easy to read manner, offers practical alternatives and solutions, and provides you with all the information you need without ever being preachy or dramatic.

It would be difficult to change every plastic aspect of your life but this book helped me see more ways I can make changes that I had not even thought about before. Even if everyone could just make a few swaps we would be on a much better track and it would make a positive impact.

The 30-day plastic detox the book provides is such a helpful tool to get you started on your path to using fewer plastics and the list of resources is handy!

This book was a good introduction for those looking to reduce their plastic usage.
There was lots of information in this book but it was easily digestible. The format was done well - its an aesthetically pleasing book to read.
This would be a great addition to a public library collection, as many people are looking for ways to reduce their carbon footprint these days.

This book had some interesting ideas, but it was largely information I had seen before. I was not impressed by any of the author's writing.

The book provides useful suggestion. Many, however, do come at a price. Reminded me of Real Simple magazine.

Lots of great and helpful tips in this book. It's always good to read these guides and see if there are any fixes you can make to your life to become more green and sustainable.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.

This felt like a good primer for someone just starting to look for ways to reduce their plastic consumption and waste. It was easy to read and informative; this is not a environmental book that would scare away a beginner. Many of the suggestions I was already familiar with and/or had tried before. However, I did think that some of the suggestions were unrealistic or highly impractical for most people at this point. I liked the workbook style at the end of the book, this would be helpful for putting these things into practice. I would have liked more things like that throughout the book as well as more photos of swaps or even how to photos. Overall, it was an interesting, quick, and informative read.

Plastic in chewing gum? Who knew? This book is a good introduction to living plastic free. It provides a lot of alternatives to everyday plastic items. A few I might try, many I was already aware of, and some seemed too difficult or really not practical, for instance, using newspaper in place of dog waste bags. I would have liked more photographs of some of the substitutions that were suggested. All in all, it has not only made me more aware of the plastic I use, but more importantly, that throwing it all in the recycle bin isn't the answer.

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was interesting. Things I wish this book had included: data or information on environmental costs of different options, and a little more info. Just HOW often do I need to rewax my homemade fabric sandwich bags, for instance? And . . . are there NO other laundry options between commercial brands in plastic, and making my own with horse chestnuts??
Things I did like: Nice simple format, well organized, and I liked the detox and the sources compiled at the end. The only problem: I live in the rural Midwest. If I want to avail myself of these options, I am going to have to have them shipped to me. What is the differential environmental cost of doing that? I don't know. So I do have more information for making decisions, but not enough info to make sure I am not doing even more damage by shipping.

This was a brief guide on how to begin minimizing plastic use. It had some basic information I as a person working on minimizing my consumption already know, but a novice would find it a hopeful and informative starting point. It does include a thirty-day challenge/guide encouraging people step by step. I was hopeful with the introduction's inclusion of how powerful plastic has been for people, particularly in the medical setting. This is often completely ignored in zero waste/plastic-free circles. However, they included the same ableist crap plenty of people get swept up in. Straw bans. Straws are not the problem, and they are highly important for many people, disabled people and just feeling a little sick right now people. Straw bans, or straw replacements, cannot replace the efficiency and safety of plastic straws. You as an individual can request no straw but the book encouraging people to advocate for straw bans tell me the authors did not do their research or consult with anyone in the Disability community. We can save the planet without further marginalizing people. Wheat straws are not a replacement for everyone (say people allergic to wheat who need straws?). Overall, a good novice step but hopefully people who read this book go on to find more information and will disregard supporting or fighting for straw bans. Thanks to Netgalley and Artisan for the early arc!

This book about creating less plastic waste has some excellent and unique tips. It's put together well, making it easy to look for specific sections instead of reading cover to cover. It's good reference and has plenty of interesting facts throughout.

Beautiful photos! Not only was the information spot-on, but it was practical and introduced ideas of waste I had not considered. Dental floss? Hmmm. We strive to be "green" at work and home, but this has given me even more ideas of how to be more environmentally conscious at home and work. An informative read.

All-in-all I think this was a good overview of ideas for reducing our plastic waste. I appreciate that there are additional facts interspersed and specific suggestions for purchase. I think this is a perfect one-stop-shop for any novice in this area.

For libraries: I have this idea that I have been formulating for awhile on doing a kind of eco-club for teens and I actually think a book like this might help structure such a group. One where we discuss the effects of plastic straws and give everyone reusable ones. I think so many of our teens are already highly environmentally conscious & it would be nice to give them a framework to build off of.

I have been on the plastic free journey for quite some time, so I have read a lot of literature regarding being eco-conscious and using less plastic. A lot of the times, I am reading the same thing again and again. But not with this book! I found there was information provided in this book that was new to me. I think this is a great resource for people beginning to think about using less plastic as well as for people who might need some more ideas as to where to look to reduce their plastic consumption.

Making a case for reducing plastic in our lives, the authors have highlighted many everyday items consumers can consider replacing with non-plastic items. Rather than leave readers wondering where to start, a helpful list of sources for non-plastic alternatives to commonly items will assist readers who want to start making a change.

Thanks to Artisan Books and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. I am relatively new to the eco-conscious society I am now trying to support. I found the tips found in this book helpful and I will recommend the book to our patrons. Our community is very active in recycling and I think they will like this book.

I think a lot of us are looking for ways to reduce our waste and declutter our home, starting with plastic. It’s the most abundant, packaged with everything and least needed. If you think about what you use every day, I bet you can find alternatives to plastic for each one!

AI enjoyed this light read but found it was filled with common knowledge and didn’t really offer more to those who have been on the plastic-free journey for a while. I felt this was more for those who had just started thinking about removing plastic from their lives.

Thanks to Netgalley, Artisan Books, and Brigette Allen; Christine Wong for the ARC!

This book is a great introduction in how to go plastic free for those suffering from echo-anxiety. It consolidates a lot of great ideas and suggestions which range from very easy to implement techniques, up to more advanced practices such as making your own deodorant.

I was a bit let down with the content of this book. Not much was suggested that had not been recommended previously by other authors. I would suggest restructuring the book to have the Detox at the beginning of the book so that the structure is start the detox and then read about the tangible swaps you can make. The new addition to the Eco-Conscious dialogue were the 'facts' incorporated throughout the text, I would have liked it better if there were some kind of citation for these 'facts'. In part because then the novice eco-conscious adopter can then dig deeper into the research for themselves should they so choose. I would also recommend some kind of explanation for how the shops were included in the resources list, are these just shops that the authors have personal experience with or was there a more robust examination. All in all, this is a good basic book about everyday swaps that people can make when seeking a more environmentally conscious life, I just wish it provided more recommendations than what can be easily found in a Pinterest Zero Waste swap post.

Excellent resource for learning about ways to limit plastic in your life. I loved how helpful and resourceful the book was without feeling limited and exclusionary. The options vary and can support anyone transitioning parts of their life to be plastic free. Looking forward to sharing this with readers!
