This took me a while to get through. I don't normally listen to audiobooks but the first two books in this series I did.

Scoring Off the Ice by Stacey Lynn is a heartwarming romance novel that follows the story of Mikah and Paisley as they navigate unexpected parenthood and their budding relationship. The novel is a perfect blend of sports, romance, and family drama, making it a highly enjoyable read.

The story begins with Paisley, a college student and teacher, moving into her uncle's apartment. The apartment is located in a building full of professional hockey players, including Mikah, who lives across the hall. Paisley has been admiring Mikah from afar and often spies on him through the peephole of her door. However, one night, Paisley's routine of a relaxing bubble bath and Netflix is interrupted by a strange noise in the hallway. Upon investigating, she discovers a newborn baby in a car seat outside Mikah's door. Paisley takes the baby in and meets Mikah for the first time as she returns the baby to him.

As it turns out, Mikah had a one-night stand with the baby's mother and had no idea he had a son until Paisley returned him. Mikah is thrust into parenthood, and Paisley steps in to help him out. As they spend more time together, they grow closer, and a romance develops between them. However, their relationship is complicated by Mikah's career as a professional hockey player and the demands of being a single parent.

What makes this book so enjoyable is the dynamic between the characters. Mikah is a dedicated athlete who is determined to be the best he can be, but he is also a devoted father who will do anything to protect his son. Paisley is kind and caring, and she has a natural instinct for parenting, which makes her a perfect partner for Mikah. Their relationship is sweet and realistic, and the chemistry between them is undeniable.

The author, Stacey Lynn, does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. Mikah is a complex character who is dealing with the pressure of being a professional athlete, a single parent, and a new love interest. Lynn captures his struggles and vulnerabilities, making him relatable and endearing. Paisley is equally well-drawn, and her compassion and warmth make her a character that readers will root for.

The novel's pacing is also well-done, with just the right amount of tension and drama to keep the story engaging. There are moments of heartbreak, but also moments of joy and laughter. The author also does an excellent job of incorporating the sport of hockey into the story. While the sport is not the main focus of the book, it is an integral part of Mikah's character and adds an extra layer of depth to the story.

Overall, Scoring Off the Ice is an excellent read for anyone who loves a heartwarming romance novel. The characters are likable and well-drawn, the pacing is on point, and the story is engaging and emotionally satisfying. The novel is also a great choice for fans of sports romances or anyone looking for a light and enjoyable read. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more by Stacey Lynn.

Hockey romances are 10000% my thing so you get your butt I requested this. It was super fun, steamy, and was overall super entertaining! The audiobook was also a really fun take because I typically don’t listen to audiobooks! Hockey romances also get me super invested and this was another great one to read! Definitely recommend!

Thank you so much Netgalley for the advance reader's copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Scoring Off The Ice is the second book from Stacey Lynn I've tried listening to. I tried to like the book but it wasn't for me. It didn't grab my attention. I did like the narrator for this audiobook.

Our hero is a guy who is practically a monk. He devotes himself to his career and works to be the best. Partying is out of the question, especially the kind of partying his teammates want to do. But he gives in on his birthday. A few months later a baby arrives at his door.
The neighbor across the hall becomes involved in helping with the new addition and romance ensues. This is a fun romance with strong characters.

Do you love Sport related romance? Well than Scoring Off the Ice will tickle your fancy with its Hockey Play.

I love Stacey Lynn’s Plot Twist! Who would have thought that reading about a sexy virgin Hockey Player would be so entertaining. Who’d have thought you could get a shy sexy hockey player 🤷‍♀️ but that’s the character she created! The one night stand he had led to a child, that led to him needing help from his sexy neighbour.

The story is beautiful narrated, I particularly liked his accents. It made for adorable listening.

Scoring Off The Ice is book 2 in the Ice Kings series by Stacey Lynn. This is Mikah and Paisley's story. Mikah is a professional sexy hockey player who lives next door to graduate student Paisley, who just moved into her uncle's empty apartment while she is busy attending college and teaching at a local school. She's getting to stay rent free at her uncle's apartment in exchange for apartment sitting. One night, she gets a knock on her door and it's her sexy hot nextdoor neighbor, hockey player Mikah, whose holding a baby and saying that it's his.
This is the start of the beginning of their meeting- unusual circumstances that will take them on a journey, a relationship journey towards something extraordinary and beautiful.

Mikah just discovers that he's a father and doesn't know what to do with a bouncing baby boy. Fatherhood was something that he didn't expect at 23 yrs old and yet now he's been handed a baby, told its his. Paisley has had a huge crush on her next door neighbor and is willing to give whatever support she can to Mikah. The plot is fantastic, the feels is good and the chemistry is sizzling. Liked visits from previous characters popping into the storyline. The overall story is pretty good and one that had me rooting for the main characters. I look forward to book 3.

With thanks to NetGalley for the audio arc of this book, all opinions expressed here are my own.

Unfortunately this audiobook was archived before I downloaded it, however I purchased a copy on Audible and I’m glad I did. Scoring off the Ice by Stacey Lynn is the second book in the Ice Kings series, but can be easily read as a standalone. It is the first book I have read by this author and in this series.

Micah is a 23 year old professional hockey player whose first sexual encounter had unexpected consequences in the form of baby Angelo, who was dumped on his doorstep. Paisley is his neighbour doing her graduate teaching studies. Despite the two crushing on each other, they don’t meet until she finds Angelo in the hallway.

I never normally listen to this sort of audiobook, it is more a reading book for me usually but I enjoyed this. Something about how shy Micah was about things, how friendly the teammates were, just the book overall left me feeling warm and fuzzy. I will definitely look up more books by this author.

The narrators were decent. I’m not sure what a Danish accent sounds like, but this one made me laugh at first til I was used to it. I thought it was a bad Russian accent at first. The biggest problem I had was cos the guy’s voice is so deep I often had to turn it up, but then the girl’s voice would be too loud. An enjoyable read. 4 stars.

This was fantastic! I really enjoyed the first book in the Ice King series so I was pretty eager to get started with this second installment. I ended up enjoying this book even more than the first. This was one of those audiobooks that I found incredibly hard to put down. I thought that this was a really delightful story from beginning to end.

Mikah and Paisley were great characters. I loved the fact that they had admired each other but hadn't actually met until the start of this story. Mikah has bigger problems to deal with in this story than hockey, namely the baby that was left on his doorstep. He was unsure at first but Paisley was right there to help and reassure him. I just loved Mikah and thought it was wonderful to see him embrace caring for his son.

Meg Price and James Cassidy did a fantastic time with the narration of this book. I have no idea whether Mikah's accent was authentic but to my untrained ears, I thought that it added a nice element to the story. I really thought that both of these narrators did a great job bringing the characters to life and I really enjoyed the fact that they were able to add a lot of emotion into their reading.

I would definitely recommend this book to romance fans. I thought that this was a very well done romance with characters I couldn't wait to see fall for each other. I cannot wait to read more of this great series!

I received a digital audiobook review copy of this book from Spectrum Audiobooks via NetGalley.

Since I listened to the audiobook, I have to first say that I loved the narrators, especially the male one because he did accent well.

And as far as the story goes ... It was cute and nice.

Mikah and Paisley are neighbours, but they haven't really met before or had any conversation except for the occasional hello when they see each other in the hall. Mikah also happens to be a famous hockey player from Denmark, although Paisley has never heard of him or the team.

When Paisley hears and sees a baby crying in front of Mikah's door, she subconsciously enters his life and he lets her because it's a matter of needing her at first that quickly grows into wanting her.

This story wasn't anything too extraordinary. At first, it felt like I was listening to a baby manual because it was all about the baby.

And then, after half of the book or so, when the baby situation kind of gets sorted out, it becomes about them, but, actually, it just becomes about sex. Or so it feels like.

I don't know what it was about this book, but I couldn't really feel the connection between them in a way that they were yearning for each other in the way that makes you all fuzzy and warm. I kind of missed that feeling.

The book itself was, overall, still nice and enjoyable.

I like Stacey Lynn's Ice King books. After reading the first book and listening to the audiobook I was lucky to get an ALC (Advanced Listening Copy) of the second book Scoring off the ice, which I had not read before.

Paisley finds a baby on the doorstep of ice hockey player Mikah and he asks her to help him with the child. Mikah is actually rather shy and the less experienced of the couple, which I kind of liked.

The narrators were fine, even with the accent of Mika. I just am not very used to listening to audiobooks and the story went too slow for me. I realized I rather read so it took a while for me to finish the audiobook.

If a baby was left on your doorstep, what would you do? Micah, a professional hockey player, lives for hockey and doesn’t have time for anything else in his life. However, when a baby is left at his door, he has to rethink his priorities. I liked Micah and admired how responsible and dedicated he was to being a good father. He is a nice guy but he does carry some baggage from his childhood. Micah doesn’t have time for a relationship, but there is something about Paisley that calls to him.

Paisley is Micah’s neighbor and she is not only good with kids, she is also bighearted. She shows up in Micah’s life just when he needs her and they have a lot of chemistry and make a great couple. I loved reading their story and wanted them to get their HEA.

I enjoyed this charming hockey story filled with colorful characters. Micah is close to his teammates. They are his family and they rally around him when he needs help. All the guys on the teams and their wives and girlfriends are all entertaining and fun and add to the story.

Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of the audiobook SCORING OFF THE ICE (Book 2 of the Ice Kings) by Stacey Lynn in exchange for an honest review. Danish hockey player Mikah Lutzgo has always focused solely on his career, but on his birthday, he gives into temptation and takes a puck bunny home for the weekend. Graduate student Paisley Hughes is apartment sitting for her wealthy uncle to save some money. Paisley doesn’t have time for a social life so, other than peephole stalking his comings and goings, Paisley steers clear of her hot neighbor. One day, an unholy wailing prevents Paisley from focusing on her studies. She tracks the noise to a baby in the hallway and discovers the cute little package has been addressed to Mikah. Surprise! Your tryst with the puck bunny yielded fruit. As Mikah struggles with fatherhood, he enlists Paisley in helping to raise his young son. Romance blooms, then the baby mama returns.

I found the romance to as expected. I struggled with the audiobook acting, as I sometimes do. Mikah was supposed to be from Denmark, but often sounded like he had a bad Russian accent.

I love this author. The premise of this book was bananas but she made it work somehow. The baby enough was crazy but the fact that they are both so young was even more bizarre. I felt like I didn't really get to know either character outside of the baby. There were brief mentions of her being at school but she seemed to drop a lot of that after she became involved in the hero. And the hero never resolved any of his family issues. But their relationship was sweet. And the support of his team was heartwarming.

Scoring Off The Ice is the second book in the Ice Kings series by Stacey Lynn. The audiobook is narrated by Meg Price and James Cassidy. Sometimes scoring off the ice leads to the greatest rewards. I’ve had only one goal in life since I first strapped on a pair of skates, make America’s pro hockey league. I left Denmark. I made it to the top. Now, I’m determined to be the best. No distractions. I eat, sleep, and breathe hockey. Until my birthday when my teammates convince me to live a little. But living a little takes on a whole new meaning when less than a year later I’m confronted with a crying baby on my doorstep, drooling on a note that declares he’s mine. Suddenly, I'm a single dad in way over my head. There is no playbook for situations like this. Luckily, I have Paisley. My gorgeous neighbor, my long-time crush, and now—my savior. She’s there any time I need her. Helping. Guiding. Gazing at me with those green eyes that make me feel capable of this after all. With her at my side, I’m quickly learning there’s more to life than winning a hockey game.

Scoring Off The Ice is a book that left me with mixed feelings. Like the previous book in the series, I really enjoyed the dual narrators for the audiobook. It really made the characters that much more real to me. I really liked both the characters at the start, but really enjoyed Mikah more in short order. He felt more fleshed out, and I really liked the stark contrast between the big hockey player appearance and the sweet and awkward personality as he tries to navigate everything in his life. Even when uncertain, he is still willing to fight for what he wants and what he thinks is the right thing. I just really liked him, and how mach he cared about others. On the other hand I started off liking Paisley, but she confused me. One minute she is against any relationship or connection to Mikah- the next she is busting out a curve hugging dress for diner at his place and is all in. Yes, woman can change our minds but she left me with whiplash. I liked the set up, and how the majority of the story is written, and I found some of the reactions and interactions realistic, and others a bit less so. I enjoyed the listen, it just did not grab me like I had expected, and hoped for.

Scoring Off The Ice is an entertaining read, but I just did not get lost in the story.

Hot hockey player meets girl who knows nothing about sports (especially not hockey). Throw in a baby by another woman and it's a recipe for fun.

I just loved Mikah's character. He's just a baby himself when his son is left on his doorstep. His neighbor, Paisley discovers Angelo and alerts Mikah. This is the first time they've met even though they live across the hall. I loved getting both characters' points of view. It's always fun to know what everyone is thinking in a newly blossoming romance.

I've really enjoyed this series so far and the fact that the author doesn't rely on other woman drama very much. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy that plotline too but it's refreshing to have a different twist. There is some minimal drama with the baby's mother at one point but you figure that's coming.

Also, I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narration. I liked that there were two narrators for the male and female characters and for the most part, they made the story even more entertaining.

Thank you to NetGalley for this audio review copy. I voluntarily chose to review it and the opinions contained within are my own.

Scoring Off The Ice by Stacey Lynn

2.5 stars. This audio book (shakes head sadly). Ok I think I think I may have read a book before by the author. And it was ok so I figured, her my NetGalley audiobook quota over with with this one. And from the start, we had problems.

It’s a sports romance: player meets girl, there’s his baby, she helps him figure out how to take care of the baby, they kiss, have sex, fall in love, and all that. The story is ok.

But what got me laughing throughout the audiobook is Mikah’s accent. Mikah, the professional hockey player, is from Denmark. A Dane. So why does he sound like Arnold Schwarzenegger??? 😂😂 Who is Austrian. And Austrians speak (mostly) German. Which is not what most Danes speak. They speak Danish. Which (and I checked) when those who speak Danish speak English, doesn’t sound like good ole Ah-nold. Each time Mika spoke. I was giggling. It’s ridiculous! And rather lazy of them not to check how Danes speak English. Or to check and not care and just do whatever accent is more distinct. I’m not sure who decided that in this production but really. Boooo.

It was either laugh or just get irritated. Didn’t have enough energy to get irritated so I just went with laughing. I mean, they could’ve gone with the movie route, that is stick the European with a British accent instead of the natives speaking native usually speaking English. Did that make sense? Though I suppose you really can’t in an audiobook.

So thanks anyway NetGalley and Spectrum Audio for the advance audio copy of this book. I’m late with the review as this was out last Aug 31, 2020.

Ok time to check out what else looks interesting in NetGalley.

Good book, but the first in the series-Playing to Win, was a better story overall I felt. I listened to the audiobooks of both. The Male narrator in this one was a bit hard for me to get past. I get that Mikah is from Denmark and therefor would have an accent. But the male narrators “accent” was so strong that it took away from the story sometimes for me.

I loved this story. Paisley and Mika were a cute couple and the way they met really put a strain on them. I was really irritated with the birth mom and wish there would have been a better resolution/explanation. Angelo was adorable and really brought the story together. Mika making the mistake he made and not really explaining/apologizing before Paisley forgave him, perplexed me, but I also understood that she just loved him. I also liked how protective of Mika his friends were. Seeing him grow as a father was endearing.
The narrators were wonderful and really brought the characters to life. They also did a wonderful job with the accent Mika has. Overall, this was a great book and I would recommend it. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.

Scoring off the Ice
Ice Kings
By: Stacey Lynn
Narrated by: Meg Price, James Cassidy

GOAAALLLLL!!! That is what Stacey Lynn has scored with this story. I love her writing and this one especially caught my ears. Mikah is living the dream. A successful hockey player from Denmark, he is playing well and now able to live a little. Now the surprise comes on his doorstep and he is no way ready for it. A baby!!!! Lucky for him, his neighbor, Paisley is there to help him out. But now the real responsibility comes, and he has to make decisions, and adjust to fatherhood. With Paisley at his side, things are easy, but will she always be there? I was laughing out loud at some of the scenes Mikah went thorugh. Stacey Lynn nails this character, both with humor and love. There are a lot of wonderful things about this story, from the teammates to the nanny, but what I truly loved was the inexperience from a male perspective. It's refreshing and fun. Plus having such a manly character with a baby just melts my heart. Add in Paisley who is an amazing woman and partner and Lynn has a winning team.

Narrated by Meg Price and James Cassidy, we have magic. Price brings Paisely to life with her voice. She is confident and you can feel the mother gene come through as Paisley takes on the role. Cassidy, with his accent is swoon worthy. He adds a bit of innocence to Mikah that makes him lovable. This is a great team and together they enhanced the story.

Its heartwarming, heartbreaking, sexy, and intriguing. A surprise, secret baby romance done right. I just floved Mikah so hard, he just melted my heart. And Paisley is so kind and sweet. I loved these two together, the sexual tension between them is combustible. I loved that Mikah was the inexperienced one, despite that, he definitely seemed to know what he was doing and boy did he do it right. (*fans self*) And I fell in love with little Angelo. The narrators did an amazing job and I really enjoyed how they brought these characters to life. This read/listen is definitely my favorite from this author so far. Definitely a #needtoreadit and #mustlisten !!!
