This book started off slow for me, but then quickly gained speed until it reached a powerful climax that I did not expect. Don't expect to figure this one out--you don't know what you think you know! The author does a good job of leading the reader down one path only to yank you back somewhere totally unexpected! This is the second psychological thriller that I have read by Tarryn Fisher and anything else she writes will go on my to be read pile.

This is my first book that I have read by Tarryn Fisher and I have to say I really enjoyed it and will probably read other books by her. I really liked her style of writing and I was hooked from the very first page - lots of twists!
The story centers on the Crouch Family - Winnie, Nigel and their son Samuel - and their seemingly “perfect” life. An unexpected house guest comes to stay with them - get ready for the first twist! - and that’s when things start to happen. The action is slow paced for the first half of the book. The second half definitely picks up but here is where the story fell somewhat flat for me (hence my 4 star rating and not a 5). I felt like the author wanted a “Big Bang” ending but in doing so it became somewhat far fetched and unbelievable. That being said, I still really enjoyed the book and read it in record time. I would not hesitate to recommend it.
Thank you NetGalley and Graydon House for an e-book ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Our story starts out with Juno describing her living situation and her failing health. We find her to be living with another family in an apartment within their home. She used to be a psychologist and describes some of her patients. She forms somewhat of a connection with Winnie and Nigels 13 year old son, Samuel. We soon move to Winnie and see that her and Nigels relationship is anything but perfect. Especially when her irresponsible twin brother, Dakota is involved. The story begins with a couple twists of Juno invading the Crouch’s personal space and listening on to a very serious and mysterious fight among Winnie and Nigel. Is what she heard true? Does Samuel really already know this, it seems he’s starting to figure it out and Winnie has no clue. I’m guessing Winnie will do whatever it takes to keep her secret and Samuel safe. I guess we’ll see......

Or is the real issue really Juno? How well for he Crouches even know this woman who seems to have such a deep interest in their lives?

I finished this and wow. Just wow! It’s jaw dropping amazing! I did not see where this was going. By far my favorite book of Tarryn’s so far. Great, thrilling read.

I enjoyed Tarryn Fisher’s “The Wives”, so I requested this book the moment I saw there was an ARC out to review. I wasn’t disappointed!

Winnie is a “typical” suburban mom with a strained marriage and someone stalking her. Sound like your average domestic thriller? Hold onto your seatbelts, because this read is anything but stereotypical. What has Winnie been hiding? How does her family’s stalker fit into the narrative? Mixed into the plot is a healthy dose of extended family dysfunction. Get ready for for the ride!

It was a bit slow to start for me, and I nearly gave up early on. Thankfully I didn’t — because this was a truly inventive and fresh thriller that took me by surprise. Highly recommend! The last chapter was my favorite.

I loved The Wives by Tarryn Fisher, so i had high hopes for this book as well. Unfortunately it didn't measure up. The story starts out well focusing on the Crouch family- Winnie, her husband Nigel, and their son Samuel. The three of them live in a beautiful home and seem to have everything you could want. Juno, used to be a licensed therapist now she is homeless, living in the park across from the Crouch's home. Juno overhears an argument between Winnie and Nigel and feels it is her responsibility to find out the truth.

The storyline is unique, it has a couple of plot twists but overall, the book is predictable. Nothing like The Wives. .

I was so excited to read this book because The Wives was a book that I couldn't stop talking about. And I did enjoy this book and the author sure knows how to write. But, this one felt a little disconnected and slow. And to be honest, the only character that I really liked was Samuel. I felt that Juno and Sam's parents were just to cliche for some reason. And even though the brother had a somewhat shocking twist at the end, it still wan't enough to save the whole story for me.

The Wrong Family was classic Tarryn Fisher novel, sinking it's claws in deep and dragging you into it's world. Wholly immersive and tinged with that shade of "What the f*ck" that never lets you down.

Winnie, Nigel and their son Samuel live in a fabulous house that’s full of secrets. Juno also lives with them and as a former psychiatrist, she wants to help the family deal with and expose their secrets - even if they don’t want the help.

Although this novel held a plot twist I didn’t see coming, I found myself wishing for a little bit more from the author. More character development, more backstory, more something.

A very good book. It kept me wanting to keep reading. This is especially good for those fans of thriller books.

This book was fantastic until the last 75 pages. I felt overwhelmed with the action and somewhat lost track of what was happening. I had to re-read some of it but overall, it was a very good book. It was well-written and an interesting plot. I think "The Wives" was the better but this book did not disappoint.

Geez, do you know what’s lurking in your house’s crawl space? Creepy! Lots of mysteries within this house. Kind of an eye opener as far as homeless people goes. It’s true that you really don’t know a person’s story just by their looks or where they end up living. I wasn’t sure sure how this strange story was going to end but although it wasn’t predictable, it wasn’t earth shattering either. I was hoping for bigger revelations or something more at the end but it is a good enough mystery.

Juno is an ailing therapist who has made some poor life choices and finds herself looking for a peaceful place to live out her remaining days. Nigel, Winnie, and their teenage son, Sam, live in a large, older home, currently under renovation. Juno takes up residence in their home, being careful not to intrude in the families day to day activities. But she overhears a disturbing conversation about something Winnie and Nigel did years ago which threatens to destroy the peace that she's carefully cultivated. Will she get involved, or will she continue to avoid conflict?

This was my first Taryn Fisher novel, and it did not disappoint. Just when you think you have it all figured out, there's a new twist or direction. I remained in a suspended state of shock for the last 20% of the book as things began to unravel at break-neck speed. I will definitely be looking for Fisher's other novels. I feel as if I've stumbled upon a gem.

This story was so good that I hated it. What do I mean by this? The writing was great, I did not find any inconsistencies that distracted from the story, the characters were fleshed out, the pace of the book and drama unfolding was fast. The style is written based from two of the characters viewpoints, Tarryn Fisher cleverly conceals certain truths so that the reader questions things that come out bit by bit in each chapter. I was at the edge of my seat numerous times and could not read the lines fast enough. When I wasn't reading, I kept replaying the scenarios in my head and wondering what would happen next and when I finished the book a week ago, I had to marinate on what happened and process my feelings. I hated this story, I hated the characters and the destruction of the lives of all involved. We meet Juno first, she is walking through a kitchen looking for something to eat and notes the destruction that the husband (Nigel) and wife (Winnie) have left after a fight from the night before. At first you think this must be a nanny or grandmother who lives here as she eats leftover food from the fridge, Then Winnie and Nigel come home and Winnie starts talking about their relationship and alludes to something bad that happened years before but doesn't quite share exactly what it was. And you see how broken this relationship is, and at first you feel bad for them but you realize that they should just split up instead of staying in such a toxic environment. You wonder why they don't acknowledge Juno, the grandmother or nanny especially since their son Sam has had interaction with her, so you think ok well then she must be a boarder and they are the type who don't welcome her in, she is just a boarder. And Winnie bullies Nigel constantly and allows her family to bully her in the affairs of her loser twin and you can't stand any of them because Nigel is so indifferent he is weak and rather than talk to Winnie he decides to have an affair and Winnie rather than be angry or upset she is also indifferent and weak. And Juno, Juno is not at all who you think she is. She was a therapist in her former life and she was diagnosed with a terminal disease, and you think ok therapist, she sees what is going on and can offer to help them. Nope, she is just as awful as the family, if not worse and she causes so much destruction for the family and for herself there is just no way to feel good about this story. I highly reccomend this book but I do warn that the reader will either love it so much they will hate it, or hate it so much they will love it. Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Publisher for this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Wow these people in this book are messed up! So messed up you'll be reading way past your bedtime, while you're getting ready for work... you get the picture! Tarryn Fisher traps you right from the start with this domestic dark thriller and keeps you enthralled right until the very end. I've recently read a couple of lackluster books lately, so this is exactly what I'm looking for! Fast-paced, intriguing, thrilling, with a couple of curveballs thrown in, all leading up to an explosive ending that wraps up nicely and - best part - doesn't get dragged out like so many books I've read recently! Loved this book, highly recommend if you want something you can't put down! Tarryn Fisher has a new fan! Start reading it now! Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin for a digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed Fisher’s first book, the Wives, and was looking forward to reading this too after reading the synopsis. I was very much into the the first 75% of this and found it to be a page turner. The whole premise of someone living in another family’s home captured my attention and held my interest. The stories of each of the characters was unique and added spice to the plot. I found the end, however, to be really out there and implausible to the point of being silly and ridiculous. I did not at all care for the character Dakota and thought that he could’ve easily been eliminated from the story and the author could’ve taken the ending in a different direction. Just my thoughts. Still, I’m glad I read this and will continue to be a Tarryn Fisher fan.

When I started The Wrong Family by Tarryn Fisher, I wasn’t sure what was happening. Who is the narrator that is watching this family? Things began to clear up, and I then understood what was happening.

Juno is a retired therapist who lives with the Crouch’s. She listens to their conversations and sees the aftermath of their arguments.

I was creeped out by Juno and knew there had to be something more to her. She’s not the only one with secrets though…

Here’s the official synopsis:

Have you ever been wrong about someone? Juno was wrong about Winnie Crouch. Before moving in with the Crouch family, Juno thought Winnie and her husband, Nigel, had the perfect marriage, the perfect son—the perfect life. Only now that she’s living in their beautiful house, she sees the cracks in the crumbling facade are too deep to ignore. Still, she isn’t one to judge. After her grim diagnosis, the retired therapist simply wants a place to live out the rest of her days in peace.

But that peace is shattered the day Juno overhears a chilling conversation between Winnie and Nigel… She shouldn’t get involved. She really shouldn’t. But this could be her chance to make a few things right. Because if you thought Juno didn’t have a secret of her own, then you were wrong about her, too. From the wickedly dark mind of bestselling author Tarryn Fisher, The Wrong Family is a taut new thriller that’s riddled with twists in all the right places.

Winnie and Juno are the main characters who narrate this book and you will get to know both of them. This was an intriguing book that kept me interested from start to finish!

Out of December 29, pre-order right now!

Ohhhhhhhh, Tarryn Fisher simply does not disappoint! The Wrong Family is a twisty-turny tale that had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish! Tarryn Fisher is a master at grabbing the reader from the first chapter and let me say after the second page I was already on the hook! The storyline was perfectly paced and intricately planned out—love that! I highly recommend this 5 star novel and being that it releases on December 29th, I find it the absolute perfect way to ring out the craziness that is 2020! MUST READ!!!!

Whoa. Just finished reading and that was my thought......whoa! Didn’t see that ending coming.

First part of the book starts out strong and really hooks the reader. What did they do? What’s the secret?

The story moves along swiftly, shifting from Winnie to Juno and you begin to understand what is going on. The last quarter of the book just unfolds so quickly. So much action! Like wow.

I really enjoyed this one from Fisher, probably more than her last one.. Glad the ending isn’t what I thought it might be. Very well done.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I will definitely be recommending this one.

Many thanks to Harlequin and Netgalley for the arc of this book. As much as I tried to like this book, I could not.. I felt that it left too many questions unanswered, and there was no closure. Dakota is such a horrible person and Winnie was so entitled and rotten and just as horrible as her twin brother Dakota. Juno's living situation was odd to me because really who does that? A lot of characters in this book who should've received some sort of justice did not , especially the baby. Is it the worst book I've read this year? No, far from it. I just felt like it could've been a little better on the ending.

Oh wow this was so good! Intertwining the stories of a family with secrets and a woman named Juno with a big secret of her own. Twists and turns that I never would have expected! I read this in one setting and couldn’t put it down.
