Wes is living a double life, he is a COO of a big pharmaceutical company and a secret DJ who plays at clubs. Music helps him feel closer to his deceased best friend, Leo. Before he died he made him promise to look after his sister Annie.

Annie had more jobs than she can remember, she is constantly looking for something else, something that won't make her bored. She thinks she has finally found it when she sees a DJ, it reminds her of her brother and her love for music. She is not telling that to Wes though, he is quick to judge her about chasing yet another job.

The moment she finds the true identity of the mystery DJ by the name Falcon, everything changes.

The best match is a book focusing on love, music and lose. It was heartbreaking reading about Leo and the circumstances about his death. Music helped Annie and Wes heal and feel close to him once again.

Wes is very protective, always looking after Annie and taking care of her. He doesn't do it only because he made a promise but also because his feelings for her run deeper than he can even understand.

Annie had a crush on him for years, she can't believe he would ever see her in a different way until he starts acting in a way that shows that he can.

I love reading about those two and how they came even closer. Wes fighting his attraction for Annie was very enjoyable and frustrating to read. The moment when he finally realized his true feelings was very rewarding.

Weston works hard at his job. I liked Weston. The tone was okay. I felt bored by the descriptions and dialogue. The pacing was okay.

This is exactly what I needed right now... up to a certain degree. 3.5/5 stars for me
The first 60% of this book was pure gold. I loved every second of it: the banter, the growing feelings, how different yet perfect for each other Annie and Wes are, her quirks, his struggling with emotions, his surprisingly multilayered personality. My heart ached so many times and I loved it. I loved the tension building between them, the typical misunderstandings, the 'is this love I'm feeling?' 'does she feel the same?'
I usually fall hard for damaged heroes with a difficult past that makes them distant and afraid to open up. That is my thing.
However, once they got together I started to change opinion and enjoyed it way less. I understand the reasoning behind it, but Wes' possessiveness and need to control Annie was too much. I would understand it to a certain degree, but it made me feel uncomfortable and rethink their whole relationship.
Later on it got better and at the end of the day it didn't dampen my enjoyment of the book for too long, but I did not appreciate it and I hope it is not considered an example of a good, respectful relationship. It is not.
Overall I really enjoyed my reading experience and will definitely catch up on some of Kelly's backlist.
I'd like to say a big thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for gifting me an e-arc in exchange for an honest. review. #TheBeatMatch #NetGalley

Kelly Siskind strikes again with a fun loving novel! The characters had depth, passion, and a whole lot of chemistry. I laughed out loud every time Wes called Annie "Squirrel" and when they dubbed Felix a rabbit-squirrel. That's the perfect kind of romance- one where you can laugh and be yourself with the other person.

While Leo's backstory was devastating, I love how the author brought him to life in Wes' music. The montage at the end gave me chills- I can only imagine what it would've been like to experience that in person. I also loved the side characters like Vivian and Sarah, as well as the addition of Clementine. It's always fun when an author sneaks characters from other books in! Overall, a fun, powerful, sigh inducing book!

The Beat Match was such a fun, loving and emotional book for me. I didn't expect to connect with the characters as much as I did and I thoroughly enjoyed this romcom story. Wes and Annie both had traumatic pasts full of hurt and pain, which was hard to read at times. Kelly Siskind did an amazing job shedding light on what it meant to lose someone you love and continue to celebrate their life. Wes and Annie couldn't be any different, yet they found comfort in each others friendship. The connection through music also helped Wes and Annie address their deepest darkest secrets. This book truly reflected what it's like to be human and how hard life can be sometimes. I highly recommend reading this story full of love, comedy, and emotion. I promise the ending will not disappoint you!

You mean to tell me that my new book boyfriend is a dapper Italian suit-wearing businessman by day, a masked beatmatching DJ by night??? Well, I definitely like the sound of that 🔊🤩 (badum tss! 🥁😝)

Thank you sooo much to Xpresso Book Tours for providing an ARC! Literally shrieked of joy when I got that email notification 🥳

Friends, Kelly Siskind has done it again, but this time it comes with a moonlighting DJ and an aspiring one! And as a cherry on top, it comes with one of my favorite tropes...I say Y to the ES!!! 🙌🏻

Definitely one of the best things about Kelly’s stories is being introduced to the main characters. They have layers that are so exciting and fun to discover as you read along—and when you get some swoony and steamy romance alongside, well isn’t that just a sweet treat?

Enjoyed this one to bits! Go and look forward to its release this coming September 16 🗓 BUUUUT I also recommend you guys check out the first two installments of the Showmen series, both of which I also absolutely adore: New Orleans Rush 🎩 and Don’t Go Stealing My Heart 🖼

***3 Stars***

I wanted to love this book. I thought the whole DJ battle thing was kinda cool and I’m always down for a good ‘ol “off limits” kind of romance, but in the end the love just wasn’t there. There is like though, and I’ve landed firmly in the like arena, which is always a wonky place to be in my world, but it is what it is.

I liked Weston. He’s protective and loyal, even to those that don’t deserve it. But he also has a huge tendency to be so blunt that it’s brutal and doesn’t always see what’s right in front of his face. Annie, I didn’t hate, but I will admit I had a rough time with her. She’s had a rough life and I totally admired how she didn’t allow it to drag her down, but I found her to be immature and hypocritical. The immature part I didn’t necessarily have an issue with because she was trying to figure out who she was and who she wanted to be, so I got that. It was the hypocrisy side that I couldn’t get around. To be fair, I did understand the why behind it when it was explained, I did, but she did and said things that I found to be quite unfair.

As for their journey to their HEA...when they were just being themselves and not trying to protect the other or fix something, I did like them together. They balanced each other out and pulled off the whole opposites attract thing. So, in the end, I was happy with where they ended up.

While this one may not be one of my fav reads by the author, I will say that it was filled with some deep emotions from both Weston and Annie and had some pretty awesome secondary characters that I wouldn’t mind spending a lot more time with if given the chance.

My rating: 4.5★

“I guess you have to decide which you'll regret more, missing the world you know or never exploring the one that scares you.”

What can I say! I loved this book so so much THAT I COMPLETED IT IN A DAY. I can't stop smiling and it is Kelly Siskind's fault!

The Beat Match is an incredible story about two childhood best friends, Wes and Annie. Weston Aldrich is the leading face for Aldrich Pharma, always there with a plan and a stuck up and professional suit. But what the world doesn't know is he is a DJ after hours, playing at clubs and brooding a growing fandom. After Annie's brother and Wes's best friend Leo died, Weston has always been there to help Annie, despite her driving him at the edge of insanity. As her best-friends little sister, she has always been off-limits. But after the not very accidental kiss, he can't stop thinking about her.
Annie herself wants to be a budding DJ and play with the beats. But there is no way in hell she will tell that to the over-protective-greek-god-irritating-hot Weston—well until she learns what he does at nights. Because now she has found her match.

This is the first book I read of Kelly and I loved it! I knew I made the right decision picking this up! This book was laugh-out-loud funny, non-problematic, grin-inducing, a heartfelt love story. Now without me babbling like an idiot, here... I present to you why you should read this book:

THE WRITING AND PLOT:
This book had me gripped from chapter one. We follow both Annie and Wes's POVs and the book is written in 3rd person. You can see that the writer put in effort in carving these characters and every detail felt real. I enjoyed myself from start to end—no exception.
Let me also make it clear that this book explores so much more than the romance. It deals with grief, guilt, recovery, social issues in a way that you know and feel the emotions. And I love a book that deals with problems and tries to bring something important in the limelight while holding the romance strong. The atmosphere surrounding this book is so different. It feels fun but dark at the same time (in a good way)...just like clubs. It is a feel-good story that had me on my toes.

CHARACTERS:

"Everything with Annie was an emergency...The time she spotted a vintage purse she just had to have and bolted from his still-moving car had been stroke inducing."

Annie~ There are rare instances when I can say that I loved the MC of a romance novel more than the hot male counterpart. Usually, the female makes very idiotic choices throughout the book that makes me wanna slit her throat but not Annie. She is by far one of the best female MC I have read about so far. She is witty, funny, bold, honest, one of a kind, brutal, and amazing! She straight-up speaks what she thinks and does not create unnecessary problems for the sake of inventing unnecessary problems. She is a girl who would wanna clear things up and get them out of the way before they mess up her life or relationship. Sarcasm runs in her veins and there was not a single moment where I thought I wanted to kill her. She is a goddess and every MC in a romance novel should learn from her, how to be authentic and real—and not a stuck up bitch.

Weston~ He was HOT!
I mean a very stiff, laborious, and professional man by day and a popular, free, carefree DJ by night—WHAT MORE CAN I ASK!
As I said, his stiff outer demeanor was such a turn on (obviously for Annie...not me). He was smart and sensible but I gotta admit he was irritating at times and made stupid decisions. I mean you gotta fill the stupidity meter somehow in a novel. But man he was compassionate and lovable, quite as witty and sweet as Annie..just a little annoying. I loved him nonetheless.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Wes and Annie had such a natural, non-toxic, sweet relationship. I was rooting for them from the very start! The 'shift' from friends to having feelings for each other felt a little off but that is the extent of my critique. The slow-burn romance was killing me! Just the anticipation to see them together had me skipping everything I had to do in a day and just READ. The obstacles in their relationship felt so real and natural, their relationship, in general, seemed genuine. There wasn't a "forced" moment between them and these two truly understood each other, they had such great chemistry, it was almost as they were made for each other. They were so cute, they had me screaming XD
Their banter, their fights, love confessions...everything was so perfect!
They completed each other. Both of them had their struggles and they tried to help each other out and solve their problems—and that I what I call an authentic relationship!

The friendships in this book were super enjoyable too. This book was written in a way that I cared for the side characters like they were my baby. OR. I was so smitten with the story that I started loving everything and everyone.

All in all, this was such a feel-good book, it might not be perfect but I am so smitten after reading it that I can only see perfection. I was genuinely happy for the characters and cant wait to read more from the author. I really think you should give this book a chance...

SO WHAT I AM SAYING IS—READ THE GODDAMN BOOK!

Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. I'm struggling to rate this one with stars. Yes - it's a modern romcom, I really shouldn't have the highest of expectations, BUT. I'm so very tired of the overprotective alpha male. I saw other reviews calling this a "slow burn", and I'm not sure if that applies. I mean it's technically true, they grew up knowing each other, but for the purposes of what you actually see in the course of this book, it's pretty much instant. Like, very very fast. I got 50 Shades vibes from the whole subterfuge subplot, and that's not a compliment.

All that being said, it is fun and enjoyable. Just don't look at it too closely.

Loved this book! This is the first Kelly Siskind novel I have read, but definitely not my last! This was a friends-to-lovers contemporary romance, and it was great! Annie and Wes have known each other for years. Annie's brother was Wes's best friend, and he died tragically. Wes has been looking out for Annie for years, but has started to develop feelings for her that he is not sure how to handle. The chemistry between Annie and Wes is so well done. I loved this one so much, I am going to go back and read the other two in Siskind's series "The Showmen."

I am so glad to have finally read one of Kelly’s books because it is absolutely fantastic. I really enjoyed the lead up to the romance, the witty banter, the back and side stories that are well laid out and all the cute little hilarious moments. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good romantic comedy, with best friend’s sibling and friends to lovers troupes.

Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the free e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

DNF at 49% due to a really upsetting scene.

I requested this on a whim because I sometimes really enjoy reading romance novels, and I was interested in the premise of two DJs with a long history falling in love. I didn’t really like Annie all that much, because I felt like she could be really rude to Wes sometimes, and she stole money from him (borrowed it “for rent”, asking for more than she needed and using it on other things). Some other things that bothered me were when Wes kissed Annie while he was in his mask, so she thought she was kissing a stranger and not her brother’s best friend, and that seemed deceitful to me; as well as some occasional sentences that made me cringe.

Wes and Annie are supposed to be in love underneath their irritation for each other, but he’s very controlling of her, and she’s not that kind to him. Ultimately, I was going to finish this anyways because I was very grateful for the e-ARC and hopeful about the romance, but there’s a moment 49% of the way through that caused me to DNF this.

minor spoiler, and CW: sexual assault

Annie performs a sexual act on Wes while he’s sleeping, and I guess it’s supposed to be seen as romantic in the book because it’s while she sees that he’s having an explicit dream about her, but this is absolutely not okay and made me DNF immediately. I looked at the context of the next few pages, and it didn’t seem like this was going to be called out by the text, especially because this is a romance. I wish this scene hadn’t been included and hope that it’s taken out before this is published.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book.
I'm having a hard time rating this book. I find I enjoyed the characters a lot more than I did in 'Don't go stealing my heart.' Although when Wes was at work or being bossy to Annie, it became a bit too much.
The side plot of his father and the business became more serious that I anticipated, but I'm glad it all worked out in the end. It was good to see that the fake dating trope wasn't the main idea in this book, and didn't become a big issue between Annie and Wes.
There were some sweet moments, especially with the video towards the end, and the epilogue gave us a good idea of what the future held for them.

I just had trouble getting into this story about a romance between a wealthy executive in a pharmaceutical company and a woman he’s known since she was a young girl living in a shelter. Apparently, they both harbor deep desires to be dj’s in dance clubs. So he moonlights mixing beats in the clubs wearing a falcon mask. I rather liked the two and their friendly relationship and how she is comfortable sassing him and ridiculing how tightly wound he is. But I couldn’t bring myself to care about them and their drama. I didn’t buy the idea that he was some genius at mixing beats as well as a brilliant executive in his family’s company.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

Thank you to Kelly Siskind and NetGalley for a gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Just as you can expect from the adorable cover, this story is super cute. Annie is super fun and quirky and I loved that she has an obsession with scrapbooking. Wes is type A and overprotective but still super adorable. I wasn't really buying the DJ/clubbing aspect of the story but I rolled with it and it grew on me. I got the message Siskind was trying to weave into the story and I fully support it.

I liked the inclusion of Clementine in this story but the introduction of the new character for the next book was a little clunky. I had to go back and see if he was part of the story and I missed it somehow. Not a big deal. Overall, it's a cute slow burn romance without much drama which is just what I needed.

What a fun book! The Beat Match by Kelly Siskind, features an executive and the younger woman (his best friend's sister) who grew up being cared for by him following his good friend's death. This book takes place both in the business world as well as the underground dive scene. There is lots of great banter as well as romance as the book progresses. If you like snarkiness, romance, dark scenes, and music, this is the book for you! Thank you to Netgalley for this free ebook in exchange for an honest review.

I fell in love with Kelly Siskind’s writing when I read New Orleans Rush, but I might havve found a new favorite. The Beat Match was absolutely riveting. It had everything from very layered and complicated characters, adorable and quirky dialogue and humor, and steamy sex-everything. What I love most about this author's writing is that every book almost feels like the author is reinventing herself. The writing style is always different, yet equally masterful every single time. I actually cannot wait for the fourth book in the series and will be among the first to read it

This was my first book by Kelly Siskind, and all I can say is I now must go and buy the others in this series. Immediately. I need more.
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion and honestly... I loved all the different aspects to this book. The humor, the romance, the deep emotion revolving around family and important everyday issues. Even the little taste of mystery and suspense we got.
Annie and Wes are connected through Annie’s dead brother. What starts out as protective brotherly affection, soon turns into something more as they discover each other’s secrets.
It was super cute. I loved Annie. She was strong, quirky and fun. Her scrapbooking hobby had me laughing out loud and her relationship with Wes was sweet and goofy.
I loved the deep connection she wrote between DJing and speaking up on important matters. Definitely gave me goosebumps as I was reading. Almost like I was in that club and a part of the scene.
I only wish that we had just a bit “more” for the climax. She mentions lives being in danger and I really wish she had played on that.
That being said, the epilogue really closed up the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Received a Netgalley ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was absolutely perfect! I can’t stress enough as to how much I absolutely adored this book!

The Beat Match follows our 2 main characters: Annie Ward and Weston Aldrich. Annie’s deceased brother, Leo, was Wes’s best friend and after Leo passed away Weston continued to take care of Annie. Wes and Annie are best friends but after one kiss, they start to question their feelings for one another. OH! And Wes is a DJ at night!

Now, my thoughts

What I didn’t like:

➵ NOTHING! This book was everything. I can’t for the life of me mention one thing I didn’t like.

What I liked:

➵ The relationship: Weston and Annie’s relationship felt so natural and pure. Their banter was amazing and their scenes were so soft I wanted to cry. I practically highlighted the entire book.

➵ The writing style: This book was so easy to read. I especially loved how it was a dual POV - because we hardly see that in romance books. Also, some of the character’s thought were hilarious.

➵ The side characters: I adored them! They were really fun to read about and, where I would usually find myself extremely bored while reading a scene without both the main characters, this was not the case with The Beat Match. All of them were so funny and interesting.

➵ Pretty much everything:

Have I mentioned before how perfect this book is??? I can’t explain it. I would 10/5 recommend this book!

Let me preface this review by saying I’ve read Kelly Siskind’s books and usually enjoy them. The last book in this series fell flat for me so I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one. This was really well written, the story was very good and involved. The romance was sensual. My favorite part is when Annie and falcon first kiss in the club- hot hot! That being said, I can’t personally relate to the music/club scenes but I. Overall thought this was very good. Thank you to netgalley for the ARC.
