Love the cover, whats inside not so much. So this book was absolutly actionpacked but at the same time super boring. By the end I was bored out of my eyeballs. Not for me.

First, can I just say that I absolutely love the cover of this book and given that it's the first book in the series, I found the characters interesting enough for that first introduction that I cannot wait to see what becomes of them in the coming books.
Thanks Netgalley for the eARC.

This was not what I expected. The first 12% amazed me. I was loving Silvana and her story. I found very interesting that she was an escort, but she actually robbed the guys, and she was trying to escape that life, I really thought it was going somewhere, but it stopped all of the sudden. I really liked the scene with Briar, when we, as the readers realize something's wrong, but from that moment on, I just felt everything was super fast and started to get boring.

One of my issues with this story was that, again, went way too fast. I felt like the magical world itself wasn't developed enough and the romances were way too fast paced. I would have liked to be introduced to the different magical creatures sooner and deeper, specially the witchbeast.

I also felt the whole story was very lineal. I think the problem was with the writing, which I didn't enjoy very much, but I could only see one plot, no twists at all, no secondary characters' development, no big surprises, etc. At one point I really thought Armani was going to confess to be a necromancer at some point, would have been amazing as a final plot twist leading to a cliffhanger, but it never happened.

I really liked the beginning and some parts in the middle, for example when Briar tells her that Armani is a bad guy, I was so intrigued, but then again, it got solved too fast.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publisher for the e-arc.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The storyline was slightly basic and I guess someone of the twists and turns, but it was a nice, easy read for me. I enjoyed it immensely and would like to read book 2

Meh.
It started out sort of interesting, but i was quickly bored when it was" leaving- because i am in danger and leaving with two random people i just meet" - thing. The characters were meh, the main character kept overreacting and was just hard to like in general.

I received a copy of the book from Netgalley to review. Thank you for the opportunity.
An interesting idea behind this story which sadly didn't deliver. The writing is good and the story line OK.
An OK read.

I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The Witchbeast was interesting to say the least. In it, you will meet Silvana and she was an okay character for me. In some ways, she was normal (for a bit) and other times she would just act before she thought it out. She was also really overdramatic about things which lead her to overreact as well. Which ended up annoying the crap out of me. I did think that her magic was pretty interesting and I wanted to dive more into that. So maybe the next book will.

Other than that, the romance was okay but very insta-y. Which I'm not really a fan of. Mostly because I just couldn't see the chemistry for anyone involved so I just kind of skimmed through all those parts.

In the end, I tried and I might even try the next book if things are a bit better. Maybe.

All i have to say about this book is that it was...okay?! The plot was kinda predictable and everything was going way too fast for my liking. However there were some parts that i liked.I was a bit disappointed considering the description promised so much more but didn’t achieve this.

ARC from NetGalley

Meh. This was highly predictable and underwhelming. The romance was garbage. I was intrigued by the chance of some decent sex scenes because sometimes that is the trade off with a mediocre plotted paranormal fantasy, but even though the MC is an escort, we get nada in that regard. Do not recommend.

I had to DNF this book. The story seemed jumpy and I couldn't figure out what was happening some of the time and had to go back and see if I missed something. It is not a book for me.

I actually ended up DNFing this title. There were too many inconsistencies with the voice and tone, too many parts that struck me as very casually racist, and not enough things that made the main character either relatable or likable for me.
The plot was great, and though I thought it needed to be fleshed out more, the worldbuilding was interesting as well (especially the underground city).
Overall, I thought there needed to be more of everything (information; description; care when fleshing out the POC characters; and sympathetic attributes for the main character). I went into it thinking it would be as easy 5-star rating from me, based on the description and was very surprised that wasn't the case.

I DNF'd this book at 45% and this is the first book I've ever DNF'd :(
I really wanted to like this book, and I really thought I would.
The magical world was cool, the story was interesting, but I really didn't enjoy the writing and it made me not want to continue :(

I expected a really good urban fanasy and I am a little disappointed. First I thought that it's a debut because world building is so small, we have only a basic information which we need to udnerstand the plot.

The idea for main character and her magic abilities is great. Especially that Author gave us a lot of historical details about the witchbeast. I like those parts where Author put the whole paragaphs from archival documents.

First part of this book I can name as "killed her and she run". Things happen so quickly and characters don't have time to thing about anything because minute after that when they found the safe place the bad guys come and they have to run again.

Main character, Silvana reacts too violently for everything. She takes offense like a high school teen and her reactions are overreacted. All plot is focus on her, we don't know another characters better when the plot is growing. A pity because they look like really intresting people. Espeically I would like to know more about Venison.

Relationships and romance, oh boy... We have two men and two women. I will say that it's that kind of romance where during 5 minutes they meet, fall in love, have sex and know that they will be together forever. We don't have any visible chemistry between chaacters. They were for me plastic and unreal. It's not how the life is going.

The advantage is intresting idea for plot, magic system and main character magic abilities. One thing surprised me and it was an intresting plot twist.

Will I read next book from the series? Probably not becasue I don't feel connected with characters and I really don't care what will be happened with them.

I wish I had more to say about this book. Everything about it was....okay. The world-building was decent in the beginning and seemed to fade more as the book went on. It was hard to get into the scenes when they were barely described. The characters we okay. Silvana goes from not trusting Armani and Venison to being in a relationship with Armani rather quickly. When she heads off to face Blair alone the usually protective Armani and Blakely let her....those things are not true to who the characters are in the rest of the book. The storyline was okay but not exciting by any means. As a whole, this book just didn't draw me in the way I hoped it would.

Silvana's life of crime comes to an abrupt halt when her seduce-drug-rob scheme targets the wrong man. Suddenly Silvana is being hunted by magicals who seem to know more about her past than she does. On the run with her best friend and a few mysterious men, Silvana has to figure out how to get out of this mess - and how to control the rage monster that she now transforms into.

I'm not sure what to write about this novel. It's fast paced and plot driven and reads more like a pulp thriller than an urban fantasy novel. There was not enough character development for me. Although the premise was interesting, I did not like Silvana, which made it difficult for me to read. Your mileage may vary.

A YA book I think. Caught in a power struggle between the norms and the paranormals Silvana tries to eek a living robbing her clients with the assistance of two heavies. Boris the leader definitely has delusions of grandeur!

Silvana grew up in an orphanage and foster homes, she trusts no one. One night all hell breaks loose when a mark that Boris chose turns the tables, his name is Briar and he is the head honcho for the magical community.

What follows is a dangerous and mad dash across Europe to find the answers to her heritage before its too late.

The Witchbeast is perfect for fans of City of Bones (the first book in The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare).

I liked the diversity of the friendship group, there are characters from different ethnic backgrounds as well as an autistic character who is the SWEETEST (so much love, he's the best).

In terms of the writing, I think there was too much telling instead of showing, which, sadly, drew me away from the story. But, I quite enjoyed the plot, and was gripped for the last 20% of the book.

I recommend this if you like the Shadow Hunter Chronicles.

I was kindly sent a copy of this book to read and review by NetGalley. All my opinions are genuine and honest.

I really enjoyed the idea behind this book. However, I feel like the delivery was too rushed to be able to appreciate this. I've given this book a rating of 3 out of 5 stars, but I would say this is more of a 2.5.

I suppose it's bad that I can't even name the main character. I think this was mentioned a couple of times, but not enough for this to stick in my mind. The initial set up was great. We have 19 year old escort-cum-conwoman who steals from her clients. As much as I enjoyed this, I started to find issues pretty early on in this book. I felt that the relationship that blossomed was forced. There was barely any character interaction, in these pages, but a relationship developed nonetheless.

I weird complaint, but it felt like there were too many action scenes. Usually, action isn't something I would complain about, but the group were able to get out of these far too easily. Even the big climatic battle at the end was far too easy to resolve. There were no stakes in this book. I didn't believe that the characters were ever in danger, as every time they were it ended up with them being safe without having to worry.

Before I begin my review for The Witchbeast: #1 Awakening by Samantha Eklund, I would personally like to thank the author, the publishers and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC and I have reviewed it honestly.

Immerse yourself in a unique and dangerous modern world filled with supernaturals, magic and deceit. The Witchbeast by Samantha Eklund is dauntless and dazzling and features animating action, shady secrets and a light romance while the protagonist survives an assassination attempt and awakens an insatiable darkness within herself.

The Witchbeast features, but is not limited to, the following themes:
○ NA fantasy
○ Supernatural beings
○ Supernatural organisations
○ Magic
○ Shape shifters
○ Necromancy
○ Deceit
○ Secrets
○ Light romance

My overall rating for The Witchbeast is

3.5 Stars!

I have only recently started reading books wherein supernaturals are apart of the mainstream populace and I’m always pleasantly surprised at how unique each authors views on it differ. This book was no exception. The writing style in Witchbeast was informative and engaging however I felt the story slowed in the middle and dragged a little for me. The romance was also way too light for me, I’m a smut lover and not afraid to say it! This one is definitely refreshing for those who constantly skip steamy scenes. Overall the book was quirky and adventurous.
