Thank you for the opportunity to read/review this book. The beginning of the book was excellent but then I got bogged down. I don't know if it is my state of mind right now or something else. The writing was well done BUT I had trouble relating to or liking Nikki. I did skip around in the book, found out who John was, learned about the innocent man in jail and all the rest BUT it did not seem believable to me or perhaps the characters were not interesting enough to me for me to spend the time required to read the book word for word cover to cover. I have a feeling it will do well and also that I might have enjoyed it at another time in my life. Again, thank you, and I wish the author and the book well.

This book introduced me to a new Auto Buy Author and series. I am a huge crime fiction fan and this FBI series is right up my alley.
The story is a little creepy at times but I love the writing and the pace of the story.. This is a great starter Crime Fiction series for someone who wants to get into that genre.

I got 9% in and deciding to DNF. Didn't realise it was a detective thriller, not a fan of that kind of thing. I was in love with the Prologue, but then it got into the crime scene type stuff and instantly not interested, not wanting to pick it up. So I'm not going to force myself through it, I'll read something else instead. Sorry!

Special Agent Nikki Hunt is home for the first time in over two decades. She happens upon a desperate search for two fifteen-year-old girls who were then found frozen in the snow. Nikki is the best woman for the job, even with her traumatic past. She excels in her role in the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU), and is called into handle difficult cases. When she travels to these jobs, she leaves her young daughter in the care of her ex-husband.

As Nikki works with local police, she begins interviewing quite a few people, including one of the girls’ stepfather. His name is John, someone Nikki once knew and trusted. Nikki and John had a strong connection, especially when he was there for her when her parents were brutally murdered when she was sixteen years old.

Not only is the town anxious to discover the girls' killer, they are also working hard to free the man accused and imprisoned for her parents' murder, Mark Todd. He has always claimed innocence and new evidence just might prove that he is. Mark's brother Rory pleads with Nikki to look into certain facts that just might prove his brother's innocence.

Shockingly, Nikki begins to see a thread of connection between the murder of her parents and the current murder of the two girls. If these cases are indeed connected, then could Mark Todd be wrongly imprisoned? Has someone else gone free for twenty years? If so, are more lives at stake?

The Girls in the Snow is a great start to an already riveting series. I love Nikki's character, especially as the backstory of what happened to her parents comes into play over and over again, yet she never lost her edge. I was completely pulled into this story and actually went right on to read the next book in the series, One Perfect Grave.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Nikki is an FBI agent who is called to her hometown to solve the murder of two girls. The problem is, she hasn’t been back there for a long time, her parents were murdered there twenty years ago, she helped convict the murderer and as soon as she was able to, she went away to college and never looked or came back.

It isn’t long before her past catches up with her due to the current murders, one of the girls is her ex-boyfriend’s step-daughter, could this be awkward? Also, there are protesters trying to get the convicted murderer of her parents out of jail, she was convinced it was him who killed her parents, but as time goes on, things don’t seem so black and white anymore.

This book gripped me! It was well written and flowed so well. I couldn’t work out what was happening and couldn’t make any concrete guesses as to who the murderer was! When it was revealed, I was not expecting that, it wasn’t who I thought it would be!

THE GIRLS IN THE SNOW is the first book in the Nikki Hunt series, a gripping crime thriller set in Stillwater, Minnesota by best-selling author Stacy Green.

The books in the Nikki Hunt Series include:
The Girls In The Snow (Book 1)
One Perfect Grave (Book 2)

FBI Special Agent and criminal profiler Nikki Hunt has been chosen to head up a new Behavioural Analysis Unit (BAU) that deals with crimes in the jurisdictions of Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Agent Nikki Hunt arrives at a crime scene, in the remote forests of Stillwater, Minnesota, greeted by Sergeant Kent Miller with the sheriff’s office, the bodies of two fifteen-year-old missing girls, Madison and Kaylee, that disappeared two months ago, found dead in the frozen snow. It was thought to be the work of the “Frost Killer”, a serial killer that took a woman every year, then froze her body. A red ribbon tied the victim’s hair back, and all victims wiped clean with bleach. This would be the first time the Frost Killer left two victims.

Special Agent Nikki Hunt is sure the killer is local: someone knew where to hide them and thought they'd never be found.

This is the first time Nicole Walsh has come home in twenty years to Stillwater, Minnesota, since she found her parents were murdered in their house. Sixteen-year-old Nicole had been out drinking heavily the night her parents were killed, and returned to find, someone in her house. With her boyfriend, John Banks by her side, she identified the killer as Mark Todd. Mark is now serving a life prison sentence and Nicole moved to the University of Minnesota to attempt to live a normal life.

Nikki Hunt /Nicole Walsh is divorced and shares custody of their six- year-old daughter, Lacey with her ex- Tyler. They have a good relationship.

Nikki soon finds out that Madison’s step-father is, John Banks, her ex-boyfriend that was with her when she was just sixteen and her parents were murdered. Who supported her when she identified their killer, Mark Todd.

But when Nikki arrives at the Sheriff’s office, she’s confronted by protesters eager to see Mark freed. With new evidence that could clear his name, Mark has appealed his conviction and his brother Rory begs Nikki to take a look at what they’ve found.

Nikki knows she must focus on the killer at large, but Rory makes her wonder if she put her trust in the right people all those years ago. Are Madison and Kaylee’s deaths connected to her parents’ murders?

This is a promising series that will appear to a wide audience.

Many thanks to the author, Bookouture and NetGalley, for my digital copy.

I received an ARC of this via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a great start for a new mystery/thriller series featuring FBI agent Nikki Hunt.

Nikki Hunt is in her hometown investigating the mystery of 2 girls found in the ice. The atmosphere is tense as she hasn’t been back since her parents murder trial and she finds herself not only investigating a murder but also caught up in an appeal for the person convicted of murdering her parents.

Easy reading and a good mystery. I enjoyed the caste of characters and the storyline. Looking forward to the next one.

OH MY GOODNESS THIS BOOK!!!! This was my first book by Stacy Green and it WILL NOT be my last. Nikki hunt was the one who found her parents dead bodies at the age of 16. Now 20 years later she is a special agent in the FBI. She has not returned to her hometown but after a job calls her there where someone has found teenagers bodies she is thrown into a world of trauma and she has to cope with her past while also trying to figure out what happened to these girls. This was an incredibly well written book that kept me at the edge of my seat the ENTIRE time.

When choosing to read this book I actually thought it was by another writer. I saw the name "Nikki Hunt" and thought it was something I had read previously. It wasn't but I am so glad to have selected this book to read. This was a very good story. Well written and characters you could care about. Lots of twists and turns to keep you reading. I am looking forward to more books by Stacy Green.

This is a truly remarkable crime thriller that had me hooked from the start.
Nikki Hunt, an FBI agent who's job is to track down serial killers, finds herself back in her hometown to work on solving the murder of two teenage girls.
This story is full to the brim of suspense, tension, and moments that had you sat on the edge of your seat as the plot began to unfold.
The characters were fantastic and really added so many depths to this brilliant story,
Fast paced with a remarkable storyline, this book was impossible to put down. A firm favourite of mine, and without any doubt a must read.

Let me start off by saying that this story is NOT what you think it is. You think it's the traditional twisty, domestic thriller but it is the complete opposite. It definitely starts off that way; Nikki Hunt is called in because the town thinks two young girls were killed by the serial killer she is hunting. However, Nikki realizes that it's not the case... this was the work of someone else aside from her killer, Frost.

While the case of these young girls is what brought Nikki to town, her own ghosts might just be the reason she stays. Her parents were killed in Stillwater and their killer is in jail, or so Nikki thought. She is faced with her past, the mistakes she might've made, and what really happened the night her parents were killed.

She is dealing with her past while also dealing with her present...a very real killer is out on the loose and killing young girls. Hunt partners with the local law enforcement to follow the very few leads they have on the girls' killer.

At one point, it almost feels like the crime will never be solved... however, you get close at some point and it feels really satisfying. Everything starts to unravel and things are moving very fast and them BAM, surprise. Once you get past the half-way point of the book, things really start to pick up and it's a whirlwind of revelations. It was kind of shocking how quickly the story came to fruition

This is a book that is never boring. It keeps you hooked from the first moment because you know there are going to many revelations. There are multiple plot lines going on and in a weird way, they all are weaved within each other. In the end, you get the satisfaction of multiple crimes solved, and all the loose ends wrapped up.

"The Girls in the Snow" was shocking, a little gory, tumultuous, and worth every moment you spend reading it.

All I have to say is that I cannot wait for Nikki Hunt Book #2... Stacey Green killed it with this novel.

This was a great mystery book. I really liked the main character, FBI agent Nikki Hunt. The story was fast-paced and entertaining. A completely unputdownable crime thriller is what the cover of this book says. How true that is! I definitely consider this a must read book ( I read it in one sitting). Nikki Hunt is an FBI agent who tracks serial killers and she's a strong lead character. Nikki finds herself back in her hometown working on the murder of 2 teenage girls. She's also haunted by finding her parents murdered in their home 20 years earlier. Is it all related? I can't wait for book 2 in this series.

I liked how this book threw you into the personal life of the main character from the beginning. I did think the resolution was a bit quick, but I understood why it had to be solved in book one. I liked how there were two crimes years apart being solved at the same time. I didn’t have any strong dislikes to the main character which often happens with me and female main characters. I liked that it wasn’t completely predictable. Somethings were a surprise, like some whos and reasons why, but somethings you could see the build up to them throughout the book. I am interested to see where the author takes this series. I am specifically interested in the serial killer who hovered in the background through out this book. I would give it 4.5 stars.

What a freaking page turner. A girls parents are murdered when she is a teenager, and the person who killed them goes away to jail. Now she is an FBI agent researching a resurgence of killings in her hometown. And it turns out there’s new evidence in the case that indicate she might have convicted the wrong person. Is everything connected? Who can she believe? I was guessing until the END. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Im always apprehensive of starting new series but I just couldn't resist the creepy cover & Minnesota setting for the story. Im glad I did! The Girls in the snow started with a sinister chapter that had me hook line & sinker, from then on it just got more interesting! Very few books that start great are able to maintain that sense of suspense throughout & Stacy Green's first book in the Nikki Hunt series does that & more with ease! There's everything to love in this book for me. I loved the plot that tied in with a historical case, a case that is too close to home for Nikki. I only had slight misgivings of Nikki's dalliances. Something like that should have understandibly taken a long time, given the history of the characters. It would have been sweeter & felt a bit more real. Quick romances are not my thing. I was also looking at some outcome or tease regarding Frost but there was nothing there. Other than that I found the book pretty great! I can't wait to see what's next in store for Nikki!

Thank you, NetGalley, Bookouture & Stacy Green for an arc!

The girls in the snow started off with a lot of promise, I really liked the plot line and the blurb made it sound very interesting however I would have been far more interested in the actual plot of the red ribbon murders rather than the side plot of the main characters past which was a shame.

The author is obviously setting it up for a series and I felt this book suffered because of that. Some of the sub plots were a tad extreme and made the book read like an action book rather than the thriller it was reported to be.

I did enjoy it and it was an easy read.

On the cover of this book it says "an unputdownable crime thriller" and that is exactly what this book is! I'm excited that this book is the first in a series because I can't wait to read more about Agent Nikki Hunt. This is a fast paced thriller that pulled me in within the first few pages. I loved finding out about the old murder case - that of Nikki's parents - and how the convicted man was appealing his conviction. The current murder case - of the 2 teenage girls - was also interesting and I wondered how it was all going to relate, if the murders even did relate to each other! I has suspicions about who the killer was but didn't guess all the twists this book threw at me. I definitely recommend this book if you like fast paced crime thrillers with many components.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and the first in a series. It was an enjoyable read in which the author very cleverly linked an historical crime with a recent one , which kept you guessing right to the end . Looking forward to the next one in the series

This book took forever for me to get into. However, stick with it because I am so happy I did. While at heart this is a book centered around the two girls in the snow... you are also getting to know the past and present of the female protagonist, FBI Agent Nikki Hunt. There are so many twists and turns in this book that you will be hooked in no time.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this title.
